fusam · 12/12/2011 22:14

thanks lmf hope you are OK, I am thinking of opening the xmas port want a glass?

yy about ingrown hairs

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 22:16

Open the port fusam and have a glass ... hope it helps you feel better!
Ugh, ingrown hairs, didn't think of that. Had a bikini wax 2 weeks ago as was turning into a gorilla. Felt I had enough indignities to be dealing with without that. But if this baby doesn't get a move on, I will be back in gorilla territory by the time it does !!!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 12/12/2011 22:28

I'm not much of a port girl fusam but the mood I am in I'll drink anything

mopsy I am prone to ingrowing hairs, so they do tend to occur to me. I realise that not everyone is as cursed with a crap body as I:o

I am hungry ladies. I just cannot be arsed to cook. It's looking like a tuna sandwich or a glass of milk to con my system with. I really really want a nasty burger, but I had one last week and I don't need to develop a habit >_<

Ho hum. Away to poke the kitchen. I shall no doubt bimble through on the morrow, and hopefully in a better frame of mind:)

mopsy I quite like those trimmer thingies for a tidy up (not that I have bothered for the last 9 months).

OiMistletoe · 12/12/2011 23:58

( i've not read any posts, please forgive "me, me, me" aspect. - I will catch up soon, and sincerely apologise if I seem selfish/ inconsiderate)

We've Had a traumatic day. The summary is that we're now in the children's hospital in Manchester, Alistair is fine, but he had to have surgery (general anaesthetic and a kind of epidural) and has had a testicle removed. Minor surgery - but we were so scared - terrified -, and upset. Firstly about us losing him because of the general anaesthetic (irrational fear perhaps), but also upset that our perfect baby will have only one testicle. / they couldn't save it, it had somehow twisted internally. But the surgeon has "fixed" the other one in place, so that it won't suffer the same problem in the future. It shouldn't affect his testosterone levels to any great effect, nor his future fertility. When he reaches puberty, he could have a prosthetic testicle...
Alistair is now fine. He's very fractious and his crying is heart-rendering, as the anaesthetics and pain relief wears off, but he has finally settled. He didn't get fed for over 12 hrs by me - due to op and then due to his fractiousness, but he is on a drip that's giving him nutrition and liquids. (he's just also had his first post op successful feed, 3 hrs later!).
I've got a long night ahead I think, of placating him, but hopefully he's now on the mend and there'll be no more trauma, and we'll finally get home tomorrow to snuggle down to some serious skin to skin snugglage.
I know the surgery was minor, and that many children in this hospital are not as lucky, but today has been so difficult. I hope that none of you have to go through anything like this.
I am not planning to tell some family /friends about this, due to the sensitivity of it - people/other kids can be so cruel, and I just want to protect him. I appreciate your virtuality and discretion! Thanks. X

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 13/12/2011 07:35

Plu Congratulations. Hope your DH & Mother have got over the shock Xmas Grin

Oi OMG hope your all okay and Alistair will be home soon.

As for lady garden mine is shaven haven lol! Get your DH to help is you can't see even with help of mirror Smile

DP is driving me mad at night moaning that he can't sleep due to my heavy breathing! told him to go and sleep on sofa if that bad as I can't help it - don't normally make a sound - do you think he will go to sofa - NO I have no sympathy as he keeps me awake too but I don't bloody moan about it!

On a positive note it's Darcie's school nativity today and shes an Angel so looking forward to that. No twinges today Sad think this baby is staying put......grrrrr

mopsytop · 13/12/2011 07:38

Really sorry to hear that Oi, how very stressful and upsetting. Hope you are okay and will get home to snuggle time soon.

mopsytop · 13/12/2011 07:39

Getting annoyed now as woken up a few times with bad cramps but now ... nothing. GRRRRRR. Either go into labour body, or don't but enough already with the false alarms/interrupted sleep!

itsybitsy08 · 13/12/2011 07:52

Oi I don't know what to say, i am no good with words really, but my word what a few days you and your little family have had, what a start! I am so glad Alistair is going to be okay and going home today. Its great you've managing to feed him yourself too.
what a woman, Alistair is one lucky little boy to have a mum like you :)
You get yourselves home and enjoy each other and those skin to skin cuddles x
and take care of yourself too!

fusam · 13/12/2011 08:37

Oh Oi am sorry Alistair had such a tough time. How awful for you. I am Sad that such little one being put under GA. Remember they are hardy little things, wishing him a swift recovery.

msbaublestwinkle · 13/12/2011 08:45

oi you sound like you are doing amazingly well, it must have been so scary. I hope your night wasn't too rough and that Alistair is on the mend quickly.

plu wow! Dramatic arrival and a fabulous name (DD1 is Helena too!).

Tired this morning, Miri was up shouting a lot because of poo. However, she is now producing mustardy ones so I hope it will feel easier for her now. Planning on nipping in to Home ed group today, as it is the Christmas party!

Sparklywine · 13/12/2011 08:58

Oi, congratulations on the birth of little Alistair but goodness, how upsetting for you, am sat here all welled up. Un-MNetty hugs to you both, and wishing you both back home safely soon for snuggles. I knew a boy at primary school with one testicle, he was quite open about it and matter-of-fact, and I can't recall me or anyone else thinking anything of it as a result of his great attitude. He's still your perfect little baby boy x

bennybenbear · 13/12/2011 08:59

So sorry to hear that Alastair had to go through that OI. Stay strong, thinking of you x

ChristmasPullyWoolOver · 13/12/2011 09:07

Morning all!

Oi gosh what a traumatic night you've had, I'm so glad to hear that Alistair is on the mend. If it helps at all, one of my brothers had a similar problem and had to have an op when he was very young. It hasn't caused any worries at all for him (he probably doesn't remember to be honest).

plu wow, congratulations to you and your swift arrival! What an amazing birth story! I love the name Helena, gorgeous.

Am going to attempt to finish Christmas shopping today, hopefully the walking will set something off...fingers crossed.

mopsytop · 13/12/2011 09:08

Oi I second Pully, same for one of my brothers and has never been an issue since. Hope you are getting through okay!

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 13/12/2011 10:25

Oi, I'm so sorry that you and Alistair have really been through it, but glad it all went well and you can bring him home today. It's not quite the same thing, but ds1 had a hernia repair under ga when he was 12 weeks old. Handing him over to the anaethetist (sp?) and walking away was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I spent most of that night awake and watching his monitors, but we went home the next day, and the scar disappeared really quickly.

Plu, congratulations, wow, that was quick!

aethelfleda · 13/12/2011 10:42

(((((hug)))) for oi and I would offer a stiff drink if it weren't 10 in the morning. How awful for you to have had this happen when Alistair is so tiny: but it sounds like it all went well and having had the other one fixed means it can't happen again. Hope you are all home very very soon and can have some family time.

LMH, hope you've kept some of that port spare: looking at the bombshell that is my house I will be needing some after lunch... So many things to do and yet no energy to be arsed to do them... No sign of TivO man and I am feelin so demotivated!

AReindeerCalledHorse · 13/12/2011 10:50

No good with words but am glad everything is ok now Oi, I'm sorry Alistair, you & your family had to go through this. ((hug))

festivefiggy · 13/12/2011 11:05

Another night with no symptoms at leadt the dehydration through the cold means i dont need overnight loo stops the same as before. Another day of moping around and Yum yum cervix tea I guess Grin

I called the midwife teAm yesterday to talk about sweeps and getting induction booked but still not heard back from them, spoke to reception this AM to try get an appt before Friday as will be a week over then and not a bloody chance. When was first pg it was always difficult to get appts but there was a distinct lack of rush now when trying to get sweeps and inductions booked when you are overdue seems impossible. My poor baby is going to have a Xmas birthday at this rate and forever bemoan the lack of birthday attention they will miss out on .......though I will remind him it's his own fault for overcooking.

I have a bikini trimmer and regularly having a tidy maybe I should just tempt fate and stop see if that stirs something.

oi healing hopes to all of you

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 13/12/2011 12:14

Afternoon Ladies

Darcie was a brilliant angel this morning in the school nativity play Smile

So much pelvic pressure it's unbelievable comes along with sharp pains now, but no contractions, getting so fed up now as its really bad to the point it hurts to walk Sad

AReindeerCalledHorse · 13/12/2011 12:44

figgy, doing the same as you! If LO comes on Christmas Day it's there fault, I've been trying to evict for a week now.

Glad Darcie was an excellent angel, did you get any nice photos of her dressed up?
I went to a v.diverse west London primary school and we never did nativity plays (normally just had a PC carol singing concert) Xmas Sad

aethel, has tivo man arrived? Still waiting for HDNL deliveryman, grrrrrrrh.

aethelfleda · 13/12/2011 12:48

Aaargh, no TiVo man.... He's got 13 minutes to pitch up. On the plus side i've done a bit of tidying up. If he comes when I'm doing the school run and puts a little card through the door I shall SCREAM...

aethelfleda · 13/12/2011 12:53

Ooh ooh, posting here must have done something!! He's just rung to say he'll be over in 15 minutes. Woohoo!!

Darcies, that sounds hopeful, even if not contractions yet, Things are clearly preparing down there... View the creaks as a positive progression...

AReindeerCalledHorse · 13/12/2011 13:01

Yay aethel!
I shall now make a threat towards deliveryman; turn up asap or I WILL make sure my waters break just as you arrive and I will throw my soggy knickers at you. ahem.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 13/12/2011 13:13
