I wonder if we could get a [pompoms] going on? Do we have the energy for a campaign?Wink

Right, come on! We're a third of the way through the month and Nickelbabe needs new recruits for her advent thread. Get squeezing:o

One handed post so short but hurrah mopsy! So glad she's landed and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 15:10

Congrats mopsy! Sounds a bit scary but all's well that ends well and now you have your beautiful daughter. And good job you had good pain releif for the forceps! I didn't have any when forceps were used for DS which is why I am now pro-epidural!

sevenswansaswimming · 20/12/2011 15:35

Congratulations mopsy!

msbaublestwinkle · 20/12/2011 16:11

Woo! Mw just been and Miri has put on 7.5oz in 5 days! Still not quite back to birth weight but that is a pretty fabulous weight gain.

Congratulations mopsy! Hope your recovery is swift and that you are feeling ok.

Great that feeding is pain free for you now mmm

Tinselperion · 20/12/2011 16:32

Congrats pully and mopsy!! mopsy sounds just like my labour except I ended up with a section instead of forceps.

I put some pics on flickr - to avoid web bots finding the link, it's:
flickr.com/gp/
and then
72546702@N08/T90P13/
just paste those 2 bits together in your browser and hopefully that will work...annoying that the pix are showing in reverse order but too hard to fix with one hand for now.

MW just left - oi she came unannounced so thank goodness I answered the doorbell! DS has lost 6% of his weight and a tiny bit jaundiced but she said nothing to worry about - and i got my stitches out and she said I can skip the last fragmin injection (woohoo!)

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 20/12/2011 16:34

Hi, all, just a quick one handed post, as poor baby creature is suffering tummyaches, so I am doing a lot of rocking, and have only been using MN recreationally!

Congrats on the new babies!

I've uploaded some pics to my profile (only the best of course - have censored the blotchmonster ones... and photos of me! Xmas Wink)

aethelfleda · 20/12/2011 16:53

Hooray for pully and mopsy, well done both of you!

tinsel, love the flickr photos! And aww at plu's LO with carseat motif...

We pootled to a garage today to try out a Ford Galaxy: it held up surprisingly well but sadly the one they had in was petrol not diesel, 2 grand plus over our budget due to being the more expensive model (not ideal) but had horrible deep-tinted "privacy" windows that really put us off. Was interesting seeing how they handled the haggling process (we said no, they negociated first a £500 drop and then a 1 year warranty they said worth £350)... But just wasn't quite what we wanted, so we said no thanks. One of the less glamorous factors of upgrading to child number 3!

for darcies, may those contractions Come thick and fast!

Those of you with haddocks, keep them fridged and at the ready for future use with annoying relatives and assorted health professionals!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 16:57

Thanks Ladies, still no contractions. what's the betting I have to have a drip tomorrow morning Sad

festivefiggy · 20/12/2011 17:07

Congrats on the new baby news ladies!!

I'm still hanging in there awaiting a call from hospital in morning hopefully will be
Called in to kickstart induction the mucus plug still coming out but no sign of anything else so am quite resigned to it now. I had quite a medicalised childhood so idea of drips and monitoring doesn't bother me too much in fact part of me likes the sound of being surrounded by people who can keep an eye out for problems rather than me being sat at home panicking at every ache and pain. Having said that I bet he decides to make his way out overnight now Grin packing extra crap magazines in the bag in anticipation for a long wait!!

AnAirOfHope · 20/12/2011 17:32

Sorry for the me, me, me post/rant - ignore if you want

I feel sick to my tummy and crying my eyes out. Been to meeting and SW give everyone a handout on this handout was info regarding the case (my life) and she included a bit of info regarding my background that i had say could be on the CAF form but not giving to nursary or anyone else that only needed to know about my son and not my personal info. Everyone has a copy now even the key worker Sad

The info does not only affect me but my brother and sisters, it will change the way people think and look at me and they did not need to know. SW broke the data protection act and i'm deverated Sad

AnAirOfHope · 20/12/2011 17:36

I feel like getting passports and moving to Rio with my family Grin Sad

sevenswansaswimming · 20/12/2011 18:07

Just lost my post!

air I can't believe the amount of shit you've had to go through because you've had PND. Can you make a complaint about the SW?

darcies my waters went at 6am, contractions started at 8pm, DD arrived 11:13pm so it could still be today.

msbuggy great weight gain.

I'm planning to label all of the Christmas presents tonight and make the final amendments to the tesco order, I'm already up to £117 Shock. Is everyone else ready for Christmas?

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 18:08

Air I would complain about the breach of DPA!

Seven I'm trying to be hopeful Grin

msbaublestwinkle · 20/12/2011 18:10

Gods, air that was so very awful of the SW! Are you going to complain? I would be somewhere between raging and sobbing I think. I'm really not much help, but I hope you feel better soon...go cuddle those lovely DC of yours!

AnAirOfHope · 20/12/2011 18:36

I have cried and shouted and now i will mope in selfpity for the next few days and i will have words with the HV over it Sad

We are ready for xmas. We are waiting for our food delivery between 8-10 tonight Grin but also Sad as we spent £154 on it Shock. We still have to write cards and post them - they will be late. Then on Thursday we will wrap Air's xmas prizzes when he at nursary.

I can't wait for Friday night as DH will finish work for two weeks and its xmas Grin

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 18:45

I'm currently in our local Wetherspoons pub waiting for my 8oz steak to arrive Grin got to eat to build up energy right hehe. Hoping the walk done me good too!

AnAirOfHope · 20/12/2011 19:05

moping

HV said that my son was loving towards Hope and he lay his cheek agenst her hair and it was to be cherished but i was over protective and should not tell him to go away when i'm feeding/holding her or i will put a bad bond there and create rivialry over my own issues.

No i just think a 3 yo can't be trusted to be gental all the time and that if i didn't watch him he would hurt her by actident.

What do you do with your older children and the new baby?

Would you leave them alone together?

msbaublestwinkle · 20/12/2011 19:22

Wow, would hate to have your HV round here air, I don't put my newborns down ever (they live in arms until they climb out) and wouldn't leave the older girls alone with Miri until she is mobile enough to fight them off if necessary! I think if I left them alone together and the baby got hurt it would distress the older child too, not doing so protects both of them.

aethelfleda · 20/12/2011 19:44

((((hug)))) Air, SW needs a I think!

It's very normal to be protective of new baby, we all know siblings can be jealous and not realise their own strength, and the age of 3 is an unpredictable one. Doesnt sound like you're being unreasonable at all.

Shame that the SW is being arsey. It's tricky to be exact without knowing the specifics (which I would never ask you to divulge here, not our business) but they are only meant to disclose stuff in conferences that directly relates to the child welfare of the family. So if you have significant nasty life events in the deep past then it's not cricket to put them in reports etc unless it's directly relevent to now, or you've asked them to be included. Most healthcare professionals are good at alluding to past issues without explicitally describing them: occasionally more info has to go in there than the family is comfortable with but it should be only when vital and on a strict need to know basis
Ie not widely circulated. Very annoyed for you: best action is to complain to the SW and ask that the specific info be removed from the report if possible as you don't think its relevent or fair to have it in there. Ask if they can reissue the report and delete previous copies ,they may say no but its worth asking.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 19:44

Still no contractions - don't think they will start on their own Sad

Steak was nice tho. Smile

I didn't really hold DD as didn't want her to get to used to it iykwim!
DD has gone to her best friends for a sleepover and is so excited to know she will have a baby brother or sister tomorrow!

Run out of ideas on how to start contractions so sat down down - albeit bolt upright.

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 19:59

airofhope I can't believe what you've gone through just because of PND either! If I were you I would definitely complaim to SW and if nothing is done to her supervisor. It might have more weight if you write a letter or email as that way you can make sure (a) they take it seriously (b) you can express things the exact way you want so no misunderstandings and they can't misrepresent what you've said and (c) you can set out clearly the issues you've had e.g. HV discouraging bfeeding etc. And (d) you will come across as articulate and reasoned and make it harder for them to accuse you of being unbalanced or anything.

I was a solicitor for 5 years and now an editor so would be really happy to help you draft something or look over a aletter for you but totally understand that you might not want a random internetter involved!!

darcies enjoy your steak! DH and I went out to lunch today after the bfeeding clinic and had steak and chips. Mmmmm

festivefiggy · 20/12/2011 22:07

Another 1 here just out for tea had blackened cajun chicken and chips now catching up.on eastenders with those rum truffles u always see at xmas. I figure after baby out my sweet tooth shall have to be brought back under control so best make the most of it the starch marks r here and out of control already anyway.

OiMistletoe · 20/12/2011 22:17

Congratulations mopsy!
sympathies airifhope.
C'mon darcies - good luck!
Congrats on the weight gainmsb!
I weighed myself today, if my scales are right, I am now only 2lbs heavier than pre pregnancy. Each breast must weigh half a stone, so when I lose my tummy, I may turn out to be thin! My legs are already much thinner. Hurrah for breast feeding!!

festivefiggy · 20/12/2011 22:58

Bloody he'll Oi very impressed I'm going to probably be at least a stone up even after baby and all the associated fluids weight has come off. If he ever comes out of course!!

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 23:05

I weighed myself yesterday and am one stone up on pre-pregnancy weight, but I figure that with 2 months of bedrest, not being alloweds to exercise the entire pregnancy and gestational diabetes I didn't do too badly. Might well put on another stone over Christmas though, especially as am making up for not being able to eat sugary stuff due to the GD. Have a packet of biscuits by my bed for midnight bfeeding munchies - dangerous!
