...and those of us left are doing a fair bit of bitching:o

I wonder if we could get a [pompoms] going on? Do we have the energy for a campaign?Wink

Right, come on! We're a third of the way through the month and Nickelbabe needs new recruits for her advent thread. Get squeezing:o

PS breastmilk is amazing! Babybel's eye has cleared up after a few squirts of milk in it! Can't believe it has gone from crusty amnd gooey to almost 100% clear in less than 24 hrs!

We're going to bfeeding clinic this morning as still finding bfeeding painful after the first latch and think it is due to tongue tie, which DS had too.

sevenswansaswimming · 20/12/2011 11:04

Congratulations pully!

darcies glad snowball is on its way! Hope your contractions start soon.

hawthers sorry you're feeling down. I don't know what to suggest but didn't want to ignore your post.

bee impressive weight gain. Eva is piling it on, last time she was weighed shed gained 12oz in a week. I can't get her weighed again until 5th January, she'll probably have gained around 1.5lbs in that time at the rate she's going!

Terrible night here, DD was upset with wind so DH has been up with her most of the night. DS has got a cold so has been asking for me throughout the night. I'm keeping him dosed up on calpol and encouraging laying on the sofa watching DVD's in the hope we can get rid of it before Christmas.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 11:51

Hawthers Thanks Smile and rant away, I can understand why you are upset, hopefully you will get the birth you want so fingers crossed.

DP thinks all his RLT, Pineapple & Sex has worked! Grin

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 20/12/2011 11:55

Morning ladies Xmas Smile Sorry I've dropped off MN since Rocco was born, I wish I could say it was because everything's been wonderful but the first 10 days or so were really tough for me as my episiotomy opened & I had haemorrhoids from hell Xmas Blush. I was prescribed codeine but I seem to be one of those people who metabolise it really quickly so it knocked me out for hours & knocked Rocco out too. I only took the one dose as I couldn't bear to see him sedated & unable to feed & it really wouldn't have been safe for me to be left alone with him in a semi-concious state :(. The pain is thankfully much more bearable now.

Rocco is doing really really well though; he lost less than 1.5% of his weight after 6 days & has since gained weight; I honestly can't believe how lucky I've been as BFing is going really well even though he has a snuffly nose & is having trouble breathing when feeding; I cannot recommend saline drops highly enough btw; they've been a godsend for clearing him out before a feed.

I haven't managed to catch up on all the births & I'm going to try & read all the posts I've missed, but looking at the stats thread I have to say congratulations to mmmmcheese itsybitsy, msbuggy, oimissus, plu (thanks for thinking of me by the way & a bit late but yes the first pic of Rocco is skin to skin straight after he was born), jomouse, tyel, kateM & pully!! Sorry if I've missed anyone. I can't wait to read through the posts & hear how your birth's went; I read Miri's on Sunday msb & I have to admit it made me cry; it sounded perfect...exactly how I wanted Rocco's to be Xmas Envy Maybe next time Xmas Smile

Hope you're all well & enjoying your babies or relaxing & enjoying the last days of your pregnancy...does anyone else miss it? I LOVE having Rocco here but if I wan't such a mess downstairs I think DP & I would be busy trying to make the next one...I really miss my bump Xmas Confused Is that normal? Xmas Hmm

Have to go marzipan my xmas cake now...hugs to you all

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 20/12/2011 13:04

Oh tinsel that made me laugh! Exactly the same here, big knickers, cabbage, lansinoh, etc, and don't forget slightly smelly because you're only showering every other day, and boobs that leak if you so much as look at them Xmas Grin - but again, so worth it for DS.

We tend to have an hour - two hours in bed, all three of us each morning, which is as close to heaven as we can get. DP is being such a softy...
Same with our DS, two hours sleeping, on either of us, is a triumph!

Delighted for you pully, congratulations and hope the labour wasn't too tiring.

I know what you mean oi, I was astounded when our LO had lost any weight, given the amount of time he spends on the boob and the 6-odd dirty nappies per day.

Lock the haddock away hawthers, all bets are off when it comes to feelings when pregnant, surrounding the birth (either in advance or post) or the first few years months of sprogging. You're allowed to feel down about it, but I'm sorry your DH isn't being as supportive as possible. And you will feel better about it all eventually, but understandably not at the moment.

However, I'm totally Xmas Envy ref the sex- think we had that amount during my entire pregnancy.... maybe haddocks are aphrodisiacs...?

Car battery successfully changed, and so trip to Bluewater to see if we can get a pump- however, will see if we can do Tescos first, but the nearest big one is in the opposite direction...

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 20/12/2011 13:07

X post with HLCC- glad you're back but so sorry about the episotomy, wibble. So glad you're through that one (although not as glad as you I'm sure!)

And come on snowball, time to make an appearance...

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 13:17

Hawthers your missing the fresh pineapple & ice-cream Wink

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 13:21

darcies are you planning on an epidural if you have the drip? All the MWs I saw recommended one and although mine didn't work properly until they redid it I was SO glad of it. I got the epidural in before they started the drip as I didn't like the thoughgt of trying to keep still between contractions in order for them to put it in. I know there are drawbacks to epidurals but thoughtr it was worth flagging in vcasae you want to consider having one.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 13:26

Mmmm Want to avoid an epidural really. once drip is in will I be able to walk around? I know that contractions will hurt alot more than last time but positive thinking about the outcome and breathing thru contractions will help me focus!

Any advice would be great as didn't expect this tbh also means I can't give birth in the birthing centre has to be main labour ward Sad

msbaublestwinkle · 20/12/2011 13:28

honey ouch! I hope you recover quickly. If it helps, there are good reasons why I haven't posted much about DD1's birth...I don't want to scare anyone! I only manage the brilliant births I have had since due to my bad experience the first time.

Still waiting for the mw, DDs are being crazy and keep untidying the living room!

OiMistletoe · 20/12/2011 13:49

Happy to report that the LO's weight is only slightly below his birth weight (4.040kg now as opposed to 4.080kg at birth), the MW was really impressed!
darcies with my induction I was strapped up to the monitors continuously. But I could get up and move about if I wanted to -I didn't. Don't rule out the epidural. But my pain may have been due to the lack of progress - the baby being stuck. So I wouldn't rule out relaxation/breathing etc either. Good luck!
hawthers in awe of the sex!! (when can we have sex again... When breasts are no longer engorged and painful and constantly dripping. And being careful not to disturb the cs stitches...). And rant away, please! We have all done our fair share.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 13:56

Oi thanks, need to get contractions going on their own then really! I don't want an epidural but induction by drip scares me slightly - is it really that painful?

KateKringle · 20/12/2011 14:07

Congrats Pully

Hawthers stop apologising, you have every right to complain!

Darcies good luck! Hope things start naturally for you. When I was induced on drip with DD I was continuously monitored too, so you have very little room to move around - just the length of all the leads. You also don't have natural hormones and adreneline to combat the contractions, so it can be pretty painful. They gradually increase the dose, and in my case it suddenly took effect so that I was getting strong contractions every minute when only 5cm dilated. I couldn't carry on like that so had an epidural at that point. It was bliss! You'll just have to see how you're finding things if and when you get there. Hope this helps though

Honey good to hear from you, I'd been getting worried! Pleased to hear all is well with Rocco even if not all great down below. As tyel so excellently illustrated, it's all glamour post-birth!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 14:09

Kate Thanks Smile If I do decide to have an epidural will I be home the same day or made to stay in?

KateKringle · 20/12/2011 14:17

I had to stay in until effects wore off. I was due to be discharged the following day (ended up in for a week due to DD going to SCBU but that's by the by!), and they may have kept me in overnight only because it was first baby and they wanted to make sure I was happy with feeding etc. Not sure if you'd be able to go same day or not with second child I'm afraid.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 14:28

Thanks trying my best to kick things off - but have a feeling it won't work!

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 14:31

As kate and oi said, I was continuously monitored so moving around would have been difficult. But after the epidural I was able to sit upright on the bed, either with knees open and soles of feet touching or with my legs astride the bed, reading magazines! So different to DS's birth when I was writhing in pain for hours. If I ever had any more DCs (which I am not planning to!) I would definitely have an epidural again. It also meant that vaginal exams and the hour (!) They spent rumaging trying to get a fetal blood sample were painless. But you can always try without, just be aware like kate said that contractions can ramp up very suddenly with the drip.

Bfeeding counsellor was amazing! Just made small adjustment to the latch and now pain free feeding! Hoping that won't need to get tongue tie snipped if this continues. Am so in awe of these volunteers (like msbuggy) who give up their time like that, she even gave me her home phone number and said to call over Christmas if any more problems or questions!

mopsytop · 20/12/2011 14:39

Congrats benny. Well minimopsy is here! Started contractions every 5 minutes at midnight on Sunday, went in at 4:30 when every 4 mins & incredibly painful, by 8am still only 1cm dilated in spite of contractions every 4 mins for hours. Then had a sweep and went to 9cm in a cpl of hours. Incredibly incredibly painful the whole time as baby was back to back so finally got an epidural. Which was so fab for an hour. But then baby got distressed and was in danger, was rushed to theatre so fast it was really scary and emergency forceps delivery. All a bit traumatic but we're both fine and she's so beautiful!

Mmmmcheese · 20/12/2011 14:42

PS do you all ignore the doorbell if you're home by yourself and feeding? I do but feel guilty about it!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 20/12/2011 14:42

Mopsy Congratulations, hope you & Dd are okay Smile
