Any news from your scan yet SF?

HumphreysCorner · 09/01/2006 21:52

Excellent news Aggie ((xx))

Straightforward-any news for us yet? ((xx))

We are deffo finding out the sex again but as I've done the string test I know it is a boy so he will be Matthew John-v. biblical I know!

Feeling huge but haven't been sick since Friday so have eaten, eaten, eaten-yum! Also back on the alcohol-hmmmmmn-not good.

Had extremely busy day at work so off to have some sweet dreams (I hope as last night I dreamt I killed someone then woke up and didn't know if it was true or not).

Love to all

Congrats AG so reasuring when you see them on the screen. Last time round it took us ages to decide on a boys name, but not long for a girls, so we had a boy .

This time will be finding out again as too impatient to wait. Had 2 friends, who claim to be physic have told me its a girl this time. Another one said a boy so will have to see, only got to wait till 14th March if he/she doesn't cross their legs!!!

SF any news yet?

Spud love Theo, unusual.

madness · 10/01/2006 09:59

Had nuchal scan yesterday as well, and so far so good!! Now I suppose we will have to start thinking about names as well. Especially boys names are a struggle....

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 10:31

Sorry to have kept you all waiting girls - busy phoning everyone in the universe last night after very clear, very positive scan, giving me the same chance of Downs as a 15 year old. Sooooooo relieved, I can't even begin to tell you. Thanks for all of you asking after me - that meant a lot.

Ok, apologies now for this very long and very mushy post - I'm so loved up this morning! Told dd over breakfast this morning and got the best reaction possible! She was so made up about her baby sister (she's already convinced it's a girl...) - she's now appointed herself chief baby carer (oh, and it's her baby, by the way...), and immediately told me my dressing gown belt was done up too tight and might hurt the baby. She asked me if I would be alright looking after the baby on my own this morning whilst she was at playschool too. When she was told it was a long time to wait - just after her next birthday, she said she would save the baby some birthday cake and save some presents so the baby could open them (I'm welling up just thinking about this!!) She also asked where the baby would sleep and said it could sleep in her room and share her toys. On the way to school, she said that she was going to do lots of growing so that she could be a big sister, and immediately we arrived, she blurted it out to everyone in the entrance way that "mummy has a baby in her tummy and I'm going to be a big sister." She hasn't stopped smiling since we told her, and neither have I! What a total result!!!!

Aaw, bless. How old is your dd, SF?
Great news about the nuchal as well. It's just one less thing to worry about!
My dd (3) doesn't really understand yet and I think we'll wait til much nearer the time to tell her but I hope her reaction is half as positive as your dd's!

AggiePanther · 10/01/2006 10:48

So pleased for you SF

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 10:53

She's 3.5, and right now can do no wrong!! (ask me on another day and I might say something different though!)

OP posts:
jersey · 10/01/2006 10:55

Congrats SF, my DS is 19months and too young to really understand yet, although he knows there's a baby in mummy's tummy. But, not sure that he understands that baby in mummy's tummy is same as his new baby cousins who he loves (lots of kisses and cuddles for them!!!).

Congrats madness as well, another milestone. Is this your first I forget ?

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 10:56

Just been internet shopping for maternity clothes now I'm 'official'. Bought some bits from JoJo Maman Bebe. Anyone got any fab recommendations for a tallish, brokeish size 14 me?

OP posts:
jersey · 10/01/2006 11:08

SF have you got a Looks near you, not maternity but do bigger sizes and cheap!! I got some tops and some trousers from there in a 16/18 and I am normally a 14 and 5ft 6.

Asda maternity aren't bad and not bad prices either. I don't see the point in spending a fortune on something you will only wear for a few months. Plus we are trying to save like mad for when I am off work.

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 11:16

Thanks jersey. We don't have a Looks, but there's a big 'George' opened up nearby, which is the same as Asda I think - hadn't thought of looking there.

OldieMum · 10/01/2006 11:35

Straightforward - if you don't mind secondhand clothes, try maternity exchange here

I bought some tops from them - they were in variable condition, from looking like new to slightly worn - but they're cheap and deliver quickly. They also sell new clothes at a discount.

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 11:42

Thanks Oldiemum - can you help me with this though? Every time I try this site, I seem to only be able to find anything in a size 10 or 10/12. Am I doing something wrong, do you know?

OP posts:
OldieMum · 10/01/2006 11:49

You have to do a search by size. Click onto a clothing category and look at the top of the entry - there's a little box, default size 8, which you can alter to your size. As a hefty size 18, I managed to find several things to fit!

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 11:54

D'oh! Can't believe I didn't notice that before - thank you!!

Hello ladies

Straightforward and madness-absolutely fabulous news from you both!

DD keeps saying baby brother in mummy's tummy but she doesn't seem overly interested. She will be nearly 3 when the baby is born so will understand better-hopefully.

Have just had a pair of jeans from Blooming Marvellous arrive today. They are size 14 short but about 4 inches too long so it is off to the nice man in town who shortens things.

kayzed-still feel queazy but food doesn't smell as bad so eating more and getting bigger! Am 15+3 so 2 weeks ahead of you so you should be OK ish soon. I feel worse today as ate some pickled onion MonsterMunch-bad idea as it is all I can taste now.

Hope everyone else is OK. Off to get tea ready so bye for now.

woohoo a new thread! That just took me bloody ages to read! I've been desperately surfing net for local childminders in area to do a bit of research in case of big waiting lists.

Kayzed, i'm still rough as hell first thing in morning and last thing at night, but do seem to be feeling a bit more lively and might actually venture off sofa and do some excersise soon!

Glad to hear everyone else is looking at maternity clothes! That makes me feel as if i can go and have a nose now! Loads of people of commented on how much my tummy is filling out! Spub... we can have independance babies! I'd quite like to hold out to 6th July, coz its mums b'day then and she'll be a first time granny! However, i'll prob change mind by long before then!!!

Glad scans all going well... just watching celebrity fit club... I've met Dale Winton! .. Once went on Supermarket Sweep! Must be losing the plot to confess to that!!!

nannyjo · 10/01/2006 20:14

I've not been on here for a while but just to let you know i will have to bow out of this thread as sadly i lost my baby last week

It's just one of thoses things i s'pose so i'll be on the TTC thread now!!

Good luck to all of you i hope you all have a smooth pregnancy

Straightforward · 10/01/2006 20:55
