Well, I was about to post to the normal one and I saw we were about to change to a new thread, so thought I'd start it as noone else had!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just a quickie to say I am very excited and nervous about my scan! Made worse by the fact that dh is away so I am going by myself...

They won't tell me whether it is a boy or girl (hospital policy) and dh really doesn't want to find out. I may try to have a sneaky peak though

agalch · 03/02/2006 08:44

Hi Humphrey

Thinking of you today.Let us know how your appointment with the consultant goes.Hope your mind can be set to rest and good luck.

spub · 03/02/2006 08:49

Hi all
Bubpy, good luck with the evil ex! I'm sure the step kids will be fab. This baby will be part of them as well, after all.
DH brought home a lovely book called, "Mummy has a house in her tummy" last night and we read it to dd(3) to try to explain that a baby is (God willing!) coming.
She was so sweet and wanted to talk into "mummy's tummy telephone" to say hello to the baby. I was getting pretty tearful! Bless. Bet it won't all be roses when the baby does actually appear!!!!
Hope you all have a good day, that the worries are manageable and the sickness fast passing.

spub · 03/02/2006 08:51

HC - also thinking of you, pet. Fingers going blue I've crossed them so hard.

Thanks for the reminder, Algach. If I'm off the thread for a day I totally lose the plot.

jersey · 03/02/2006 09:03

Goodluck HC and AP today, finger's crossed for you. Have to ring for my down's blood test today so fingers crossed.

jersey · 03/02/2006 11:07

All went really well!!! due 27th JUly

agalch · 03/02/2006 14:51

Glad to hear your scan was fine wallace. My due date was the 27th but they've put me as 23rd now after my scan on Tuesday, but as the consultant said "pick a date my dear".I am not expecting to go into labour anytime around my due date so i can't be disappointed if i'm late.

HumphreysCorner · 03/02/2006 17:26

Girls

Finally got the results of the FISH test and all clear for the main 4-Downs, Edwards, Aspergers & Patau (sp?). They will ring with the amnio results in 3 weeks time but not sure what else they are testing for but will keep you posted.

Also found out we are having another girl which I'm delighted about but DH is very disappointed it is not a boy. Told me to start preparing for the next one-after all this trauma I'm happy to settle at 2. Anyway, we might end up with 3 girls.

Wallace-brill news about your scan. ((xx))

jersey-try not to worry about your results. I know it is easy for me to say that now but I'm sure everything will be OK. ((xx))

Love and hugs to all and have a good weekend.

P.S. My string test theory has failed me big time as it is still swinging in a straight line. Bizarre!

Wallace · 03/02/2006 19:41

So glad for you HC - and congratulations on your girl

It was so wonderful having my scan today. In the scan printout I have it looks like it has something between its legs (and I think sonographer called it "he" at one point), but really don't know for certain. I don't mind either way, but dh would love another girl.

I will have an anomaly scan at 20 weeks (not routine, but because of dd's heart defect) and a foetal cardiac scan at 24 weeks. It will be nice to have more scans, but nervewracking too.

Wallace · 03/02/2006 19:49

And I must say, that is the first time I've ever ben complimented on my full bladder

I was so bursting that my bump looked enormous when I lay down!

agalch · 03/02/2006 19:54

Glad your scan was fine today wallace. My bladder was so full i could hardly get off the table and walk out after she had been pressing on my tum lol.
HC so glad you had god news to share.I have been thinking about you today great news!!
Hope everyone else is doing well and feeling good too.

Straightforward · 03/02/2006 20:17

Great news HC - I'm really pleased for you

OP posts:
heartinthecountry · 03/02/2006 20:29

Great news HC - you must be relieved (though don't think it will have been Aspergers they tested for as it has no known genetic cause AFAIK -anyway, baby is clear of all of them so doesn't matter)

I am feeling like poo. Have caught horrid cold/cough/sore throat from dd, so has dh, so all 3 of us are just minging and have zero energy for dd, who understandably is going up the wall after a week of being stuck indoors. Pretty miserable in our house all round .

Great news, HC. Quite early on, one of my antenatal leaflets said that the string test is an old wives' tale, but I didn't dare to tell you this!
Good luck with the other results.

HumphreysCorner · 03/02/2006 22:41

But girls, I have had 100% success with the string test-until now. Hmmmmn-in the bin with it!

Good Night

AggiePanther · 03/02/2006 23:06

Congrats on the good news HC and glad scan went well Wallace ..get well soon to kayzed and hitc, good luck with the stepkids bumpy..and hello to everyone else
I went for an 'anaesthetic assessment' today because of my previous heart probs (they wanted to assess best way of managing my pain relief and give me the once over in case I should require CS) any way ..turns out they think I should have a planned epidural fairly early on in labour - (once contractions are properly established) to reduce any stress/exhaustion etc
Was a very nice man and he explained everything and it makes complete sense ...just feels rather odd knowing that I'll go in and have an epidural almost straight away (I had one with dd but not till about 12hrs in) ...well better safe than sorry I guess, I'll just have to take lots of magazines to occupy myself while the labour takes care of itself [not quite sure how I feel emoticon]

HumphreysCorner · 04/02/2006 09:08

Morning ladies

Aggie-at least you know what is going to happen and have time to prepare. I had to have an epidural about 22 hours in but think I might opt for one earlier if possible. Difficult knowing when to push though isn't it? ((xx))

Distraught DH currently planning baby no 3. Have told him you can't choose the sex. I still think I may have that condition where you can't carry boys and maybe that is why I MC the last one. My mum worked with a girl who MC 2 and ended up with 2 healthy DD's. Hecky thump, I am 37 this year and a girl can only take so much. I keep calling DH Henry VIII as he beheaded all his wives who produced DD's. DH just needs a Mafia son to carry on the Mafia-like tendencies-tough.

I think I am finally going to tell everyone at work next week.

Good luck to all of you having scans and receiving test results. Everything is crossed and my heart goes out to you all.

Have a good weekend and hugs to all of you supportive ladies-I really do appreciate it.

((xx))

Wallace · 04/02/2006 10:07

Told ds (6) and dd (4) this morning and they are over the moon They both said they wanted a sister, but ds has already changed his mind, and wants a boy.

DD keeps coming "to check the baby is okay" and stroking my tummy. They like talking to the baby too

It's funny ds is big, blond and blue-eyed, and dd is small with darker hair and brown eyes, and I have been imagining this baby to look like ds if it is a boy, and like dd if it is a girl. It occured to me in the middle of the night that it could be a boy and look like dd, or a girl that looks like ds!
