Well, I was about to post to the normal one and I saw we were about to change to a new thread, so thought I'd start it as noone else had!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bumpybel · 25/01/2006 19:40

Hello all! Oooh a lovely lot to read since i last logged on. Work are funny about us using the internet in work and dh is funny if i go on it all the time when he's off, so i'm being fair and logging on quickly!!! Actually am supposed to be studying for mock exam tomorrow and am pretending to do that! Will probably fail exam, but my head has been in the clouds lately anyway, so studying would probably not do much. I am getting so dippy lately.

When I had THE tummy bug, the doctor (a man) said it would actually do the baby good to have some stress and make ot more resillient!!! Hmmm not sure about that one.

HC, I am going to do the test again... DH wont hold it as he doesnt want to know the sex!(And is sceptical!)What sort of uniform do you have to wear? Are you not allowed to wear your own clothes to work when with-bump? I've turned into a right old scruff bag in work, although luckily I'm banned from meeting members of public too!!

Dangirl, lovely that you saw your little baby... i soo cant wait for my next scan..

Usand bump, i havent had buttock cramp (?!) but lots of toe cramps!

Kayzed and Iamblossom... I cant imagine how pants it must be to be feeling ill still. At least you can time it a bit and eat in the day. Apart form having a stinky cold, I am feeling really good, and really fat and eating everything in sight.(sorry to rub it in if you feeling vommitty now) Have been slapping moisuriser on ever growing tummy in case stretch marks start coming soon!

Right off to catch up with study!! (yawn and daydream in reality)

bumpybel · 25/01/2006 19:45

ps Jersey... did you bake bread before estate agents came round?! I did that and the old filter coffee smell thing before mine came round and it didnt make a fig of difference. I also made dh hang back from having a poo for an hour before!

maewest · 25/01/2006 20:46

Evening all,

Another milestone for me - I wore my maternity skirt for the first time today! Not that I've got a bump really, more that most of my normal clothes are getting really uncomfortable and doing buttons up has involved a bit of fancy work with elastic bands. The mat skirt has adjustable elastic in the back and is nice & comfy over the front (zip at side).

Been having headaches on and off, not really pounding, more the feeling you get when a migraine's coming on, bit sicky and spacey, but not developing into full blown (thank goodness!)

Otherwise feeling pretty good (hopefully spotty chin is starting to clear up as well, thought I'd left that behind at puberty!)

Also love reading everyone else's news, and discussing random things that non-pg people would prob be very uninterested and/or disgusted at

HumphreysCorner · 26/01/2006 08:34

Morning ladies

jesey-I don't know where you find the energy or effort to deal with house selling. Hope the tests went well. ((xx))

bumpybel-I work in a Bank so a uniform is an absolute must but they provide it free of charge so not complaining! Maternity stuff is a bit yuk though. I did the test sat upright on a chair yesterday and it still swung in a straight line. Perhaps I have psychic tendencies????????lol! ((xx))

Brill reassuring news dangirl and Wallace. ((x))

kayzed and IamBlossom-the sickness should stop soon. I haven't been sick for about 3 weeks so it must have stopped around 15 weeks. Lasted slightly longer with DD though. I have to nibble constantly to feel half human. Lunch was at 11am on Tuesday at work so went until 7-30pm until I could eat again so that messed me up a bit. ((xx))

Hi to everyone else-must get ready and take DD to nursery. I am always late-bad mother!

Dreamt last night that I had my 20 week scan and the sonographer never spoke to me so forgot to ask the sex-aaarrrggghhh. Also dreamt (in between toilet visits) that I was staying in London with my uncle (who no longer lives there) and had to visit my friend in Brighton (also no longer lives there) for an evening drink then drive all the way back to Lincolnshire the same night ready for work next day. What a panicky, mixed up dream.

Byee for now.

Hi, midwife appointment went well yesterday and all tests came back ok. Heard heartbeat for first time which was great, and took blood for downs and spina tests.

Estate agents came round and 2 out 3 said great things about the house and came back with a good valuation. The 3rd was complete opposite and 20,000 below the others !!!! Think we will ignore him .

Speak later as in meeting this morning so need to read the notes.

Bumbybel my sciatica is in my buttock but varies between cramps and shooting pains, wondered if you have a mild sciatic problem.

Glad your appointments went well dangirl and wallace.

Thanks HC our posts crossed. Not sure if I have the energy at the moment to go through selling and keeping the place clean and tidy, hoping to wait till after the baby is born. Got to book monday and tuesday off work next week as no child care, MIL in hospital for CAT scan and tests as she has luekemia (can't spell).

Good job I still get full holiday allowance even though I will be finishing end of June.

Must go this time.

IamBlossom · 26/01/2006 12:49

I'm finishing end of June too and I can't wait. Seems ages off, and am fed up with being so busy at work. Have to travel alot too to see clients and it totally exhausts me.

Have negotiated with my boss that I can take 4 of my 5 weeks a year holiday in July so that my maternity leave proper won't kick in till I deliver. Going to take the 5th week in April I think to have a break, and no I won't be taking DS out of nursery that week. Gasp in horror if you will, I don't care, I'm going to sit on my bum and eat lard in front of Desperate Housewives DVDs, probably the only time for the next 10 years I will be able to do that.

DS had a rubbish night last night, woke up at 10 and screamed for an hour and a half - god knows why. When I pick him up for a cuddle he really struggles and pushes against my boobs which REALLY HURTS, so it's all a bit difficult, I hope he goes back to normal tonight. He's full of snot so maybe it's that...

Not actually vomming, just feel pants in the evenings, I expect it's the day just catching up with me. I was definiely not this unwell with DS, so maybe it's Ruby rather than Toby in there...

Take care you lot

Blossom

I am hoping to leave at the end of May-4 weeks before. Got to sort out what holidays I am entitled to. Also need to know if I am entitled to a years maternity leave due to me only returning off my Priority Returner Scheme at the end of October. Although you keep your sick pay, pension and holiday entitlement I had to sign a new contract. My manager thinks I'll be back by Christmas so need to get my facts right before I say anything to her.

I am soooooo tired at the moment-how am I going to cope with 2 children????? I am blaming the PG hormones and hope to have loads of energy when matey is born.

My mum was really sick with my brother (had to give up work at 3 months because of it) but not so bad with me. I was bad with DD but not so bad this time so although I believe I'm having a boy I think I would still be the same sick wise even if it was another girl.

Got loads of housework to do but no energy-good job I'm not selling my house!

DD asked for a nap so going to rest myself and hoover quick before DH comes home.

Byeee

HumphreysCorner · 26/01/2006 15:13

P.S. DD still goes to nursery 2 mornings a week and I only work 1 of those days. She will still go all through my maternity leave-my friend increased her DD's days after she had her 2nd DD. It was the only way she could cope as her new DD had a few problems in the beginning so no-one is to feel guilty.

maewest · 26/01/2006 15:34

There's no-one in the office but me, so sneaking onto MN (shhhh)

I'm hoping to finish at the end of June, will prob save up my holiday and may even manage to build up some flexi as well to maximise my mat leave.

Exciting to hear about scans etc At last mw appt she said we should be able to hear the hearbeat at next appt, so am waiting on tenterhooks for 10 Feb now!

Got MIL, BIL & Nana (don't know MN aconym for this one) coming to stay tomorrow. Should be ok, but the lazy part of me wants to enjoy loafing around time while I can!

anyroad, better skip off before anyone catches me skiving

jersey · 26/01/2006 15:46

Hi last time I took 2 weeks hols before the 6 weeks at 90% and then smp to help with money. Will prob do the same again, although at the moment I am having to take holiday to look after DS whilst MIL has here hospital appointments so will have to see what is left.

When I come back will prob do 3 days a week if we can afford it (depends if move, etc), and depends on how MIL is doing re illness.

As I work a distance away it has to be viable re travel costs as well. Also last time had to finish early so hope I can make 37 weeks this time to give me more time off afterwards as lost some of that before.

Think I'm going to skip college tonight although need to work on essay so will prob go to library as can't work at home as DS knows I'm there .

maewest · 26/01/2006 16:08

Jersey - I get an enhanced maternity package whihc includes 12 wks at 50% after the 6 weeks at 90% BUT would have to repay it if I didn't go back... and considering I was applying for other jobs before I got pg thsi makes me worry a bit

Wallace · 26/01/2006 18:43

maewest - I think you are due about the same time as me, and I heard the heartbeat on Wednesday - it was amazing The midwife did say that she thinks I may be 15 weeks (by feeling my tummy).

i can't wait til my scan to find out for sure. The scan I have next friday is the 12 week one (bit late!) which is the only scan routinely offered in this area.

I can sympathise with everyone who is still feeling sick. I am queasy and very tired. Being on the PC makes me feel ill.

Thanks I shouldn't really complain...my morning sickness was mild compared to yours! I am lucky that I don't actually throw up (apart from when I had THE tummy bug) I just feel yuck for most of the day. I am a lot better than I was - and I can eat more things now

maewest · 26/01/2006 19:01

Know what you mean about the PC & sickness - had to come home from work early last friday because I just couldn't take anymore. Doesn't stop me browsing MN and the internet for hours tho, Should know better!

kbaby · 26/01/2006 19:51

Its taken me ages to catch up with you all.
Belated Happy Birthday.

I seem to have quite a big bump already at 14 weeks. I remember getting big with DD quite quickly but then slowing down so I guess its the same this time.

Its strange feeling the baby move inside, its as if I have a goldfish swimming about and touching the edges of the bowl occasionaly

heartinthecountry · 26/01/2006 20:20

Hi everyone

I'm still feeling queezy too, and worse in the evenings. Keep telling myself that eating helps but not sure I am always eating the best thing to help as sometimes I feel really awful afterwards (yes, usually if I have eaten anything particularly delicious!). Definitely had stopped feeling sick by this stage with dd (now nearly 15 weeks).

I am planning to stop work mid to end June, depending on how I feel. I'm really lucky that I get 6 months off at full pay and could take a year if I want to (on half pay). But, I also have to go back. Maewest - how long do you have to go back for? I have to go back for 5 months, which I figure I can cope with whatever. I also only work 2 days a week which makes it easier.

maewest · 26/01/2006 20:38

I would have to go back for six months - there's some kind of sliding scale payback thing. I could prob also negotiate part-time, but to be honest I don't know if I'd want to do this particular job part-time as it's pretty all-consuming IYSWIM. I've also been a bit frustrated over the last yr, mainly to do with constantly having to fundraise/meet funder restrictions. I'll have been there 6 years when I go on mat leave and part of me feels it would be a good chance to break

bumpybel · 26/01/2006 20:43

Evening girls!

Heartin the country... have just read that you get six months on full pay and six on half... I cant believe it you jammy bugger!
I get thirteen weeks on full pay and then its back to the SMP. I think i'll have to go as late as i can up to my due date and take some leave after. I really dont want to go back before five months. MIL has offered her services on the childcare front and dh works shifts so i'm really hoping i will be able to drop a day a week at work. Our mortgage is massive though!

Kbaby... i'm looking particularly round lately. Went to my 'low impact' aerobics class tonight and loads of people were staring at my tummy. I found that i was puffing it out to try and look properly pregnant rather than porky!

HC I've had some bloody wierd dreams too. It seems to be that whatever is on your mind you dream about in an odd mixed up way. I've been lectured on the merits of breast feeding recently and had some really odd dreams after about giving birth, the baby being born and talking to me, telling me that i wasnt making good enough milk(!!!)

Had my mock exam today in work and i couldnt concentrate at all. The main exam is in March and I think I'm heading for a fail... just cant get focussed enough at the mo... and priorities seem to have changed!

Off to eat something cold now... getting through hundreds of ice lollies still!

Wallace · 26/01/2006 21:26

I'm on the ice-lollies too

Morning ladies
Hope you who are feeling rough are better very very soon!! I had a scan in december but because i was only 8+4 i am having another one on Tuesday.Where i am you only are normally offered a scan at 12 weeks but because i had no clue about my LMP i had an early scan too.I had thought about paying for a sexing scan as well but its a bit pricy for us atm.I am excited and bloody worried in case theres something wrong(like nothing there anymore).Roll on Tuesday.I am a childminder and i havn't told my mindees parents yet,one mindee is going mid February so i don't have to worry about her but i don't know how my other parent will take it.Hope she doesn't decide to just go immediatly as i need to work up till i have baby so i can get my mat pay. Will only tell her when i really have to i think.Anyway take care everyone.

HumphreysCorner · 27/01/2006 08:29

Good morning all

DD is winding me up something terrible this morning-gggrrrrhhhh! She is so tired due to the fact that when she goes to bed she keeps getting out and emptying drawers etc. Having to bite my tongue especially when she shoved me and said go away mummy and shut the door in my face. Happy days!

Have been reading up on maternity pay agalch. I don't think I will get it form the Bank as I hadn't worked for them (on this contact) for 11 weeks before I got PG. I should get SMP as I have worked 26 weeks out of 66 before the expected week of childbirth. Means going to the JobCentre Plus-ours is awful and I see everyone queuing outside-I am scared at the thought of going. Try and keep your PG secret as long as possible. Good luck with your scan on Tuesday-you will be fine. As long as you still feel PG then I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. ((xx))

heartinthecountry-can't believe your maternity benefits. Although I don't qualify this time we get the 90% for the first 6 weeks then £106 p/w for the next 20 the Bank don't require the money back if you decide not to return so that is one consolation. ((xx))

Must get ready so have a good day all.

Love and hugs

xxx

jersey · 27/01/2006 09:00

Morning, when I worked for a very large company they increased the mat pay (can't remember to how much), but now I work for a small company its just the standard amount.

What I think is a rip off is they say husbands/partners can take paternity leave when the baby is born but at SPP, same as SMP! Who can afford, when you are on smp for your husband to take time off to be with the new baby at SPP! Someone didn't think that one through. My DH is saving holidays to beable to take 2 weeks this time at full pay as he only managed 1 week last time. He only gets 2 days paid leave from work.
