OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Good luck dangirl, glad your contractions turned out to be expansion pains. I had bad pains early on last time and went into hospital for them to stop. Hospital did all sorts of tests but didn't know what they where but every thing was ok.

HC good luck tomorrow, waiting on mine at the moment as well. As has been said they can be wrong, so finger's crossed for you.

AP good luck for yours tomorrow, and congrats to everyone just having scans.

My bump has been showing for sometime now I must have terrible stomach muscles .

We are looking at booking a holiday in sept/oct when the baby will be 2 months old (hopefully) but prob in this country and prob a cottage as a cheaper option.

Dh is worried about going abroad and something happening! Not that it will but he worries, so leaving it until afterwards.

Girls

Saw a midwife first who explained about the results and that they are only 60% accurate. Had a scan which showed no soft markers but we still decided to opt for the amnio and a FISH test which costs £60 as not available on the NHS. The amnio seemed straightforward and not too painful-more painful now actually. Anyway, the FISH test tests 4 pairs of Chromosomes and we should have these results on Friday afternoon then the results of the amnio in 3 weeks. Just got to rest for 24-48 hours and watch out for signs of miscarriage.

dangirl-good luck with your scan today. You will have your blood tests soon-mine took 12 days. ((xx))

mumswish-thanks hun-hope you are OK ((xx))

Thank you to all you girls-you really are brilliant.

Hugs to all

xxx

spub · 01/02/2006 15:00

HC - take it easy.
Fingers crossed and big hugs.

jersey · 01/02/2006 15:33

Good luck HC, rest well.

jersey · 01/02/2006 15:46

Just had the comment from a collegue at work, oh I wasn't that big when I delivered my twins !!!! She delivered in october when twins due in Dec. Last time she walked into my office and told me I was hugh . Oh well was expecting it, can't stand the woman.

Sorry just venting *!!????!!!!.

heartinthecountry · 01/02/2006 16:01

HC - hope you manage not to worry too much before you get results. Make sure you really rest.

Wallace · 01/02/2006 18:58

Hope you're okay HC xxx

Wallace · 01/02/2006 19:04

jersey -how rude!

I am either big, or further on than I thought, or it's twins I am only 14+4 according to my dates but my bump seems to be growing at an alarming rate (I now have one!) - the top of it si only about an inch below my tummy button. I've got a scan on Friday, I hope it is just me being a bit strtched because even though the midwife thinks I may be about 16 weeks, I am pretty sure about my dates.

dangirl · 01/02/2006 20:13

Evening Girls

All is well in the Dangirl camp
Scan went well! Cervix has strangely enough elongated a bit again, which she couldn't explain but nevertheless it is really good and comforting news!!
Baby also doing well.

Thank you so much for all your well wishes!

Can you believe it - there is now a due in October thread! Wauh. We are really getting there aren't we.

So happy

Thanks Wallace and AP I usually manage to avoid her most the time.

Wallace I was 100% sure of my dates but the scan put me a week further on, still haven't worked that one out yet.

Weird thing happened last night. Was sat on sofa and turned to reach for something and got a very sudden strong feeling that I had been stabbed in the side of my bump by something like a pole! Looked down expecting to see something sticking into me and there was nothing there . All I can think it was the baby reacting to the turn and poking me very strongly as it made me gasp and grab my side. Don't remember anything this strong until much later in my last pregnancy, it was a bit of a shock.

This could be one hell of a big baby .

AggiePanther · 02/02/2006 09:34

Hi jersey ..my scan put me a week earlier and I'm sure of my dates too ...well sure when my lmp was not sure of conception..perhaps ovulation was early or something.
I've also been getting weird 'prods' for a few weeks ..usually when I move or try to sit up.. it often makes me cry out, more in surprise than pain though ..I don't think it can be the baby (in my case anyway) because I don't think its big enough yet, I wonder if it could be a muscle spasm, but it does feel like your description of being poked with a pole

dangirl · 02/02/2006 09:48

Once again thank you for kind messages!

I feel like I am flying today. Really happy! I want to be able to enjoy this pregnancy and not be worrying to death over every twitch that I get...
With all this going on over the last week I actually hels on with going to the maternity shop - paranoid as I am. Think I will go and have a look today. Maybe there are even a few goos sale items left

We told DD (nearly 4) last night and then went out to celebrate the 3 of us. So nice! She is soo looking forwad to the summer now.

Thinking of you HC. Remember 189:1 all is well. Gosh - who am I to try and tell you not to worry...

Hugs,
Dangirl

heartinthecountry · 02/02/2006 10:38

Hiya - I've been getting sharp pains to the side of my tummy too. Mostly if I get up or move quickly. Sure I didn't get them with dd.

I did read something to do with ligaments stretching which sounded like it might be it.

AggiePanther · 02/02/2006 11:35

hitc ..that sounds similar too ..don't remember getting them with dd either , although it was 11 years ago so a bit of a blurry memory anyway

Wallace · 02/02/2006 12:17

So glad to hear your good news dangirl I will be telling ds and dd on Saturday so hopefully they will be as happy as your dd.

I hope my scan tomorrow does confirm my dates because dh works away and was only back for the weekend I think I conceived (our wedding anniversary!) so I might have some explaining to do if my dates aren't right

I haven't been getting pains quite like you lot describe but it sounds a bit like the pain when I sneeze when I am lying on my back in bed, which is very painful!

AggiePanther · 02/02/2006 15:01

Well saw the mw today and had my bloods done ...if its high risk I should know within 10 working days..it'll take longer if I'm low risk...so fingers crossed.
Heard the baby's heart today again...such a relief- hadn't realised how worried I'd still been (after being ill list week) until I felt the relief

maewest · 02/02/2006 18:46

Evening ladies, we all seem to be doing well. I'm definitely feeling a bit more energetic now. Have a day off work tomorrow & my parents are coming to stay for the weekend, which will be lovely.

Note on scans, my mum is mega sceptical about the 'oh you must be further along than that' argument. Scans weren't offered as standard until she had my little bro (about 20 yrs ago). She was pretty sure of her dates, but the scan put her two weeks ahead, so they amended her due date. Cue my brother arriving almost exactly 2 weeks late, going by the new date, or pretty much spot on by my mum's dates Mind you he was over 10lb in weight

kbaby · 02/02/2006 20:36

HC Keep your feet up and chill out this weekend. Im keeping everything crossed for you.

I feel really bloated today. My tummy feels full and hard but to press it feels normal. Its not comfortable at all.
I also measured it last night as ive had comments on how big it is. Ive grown 6 inches just around my tummy and its all out front. It looks as if theres a small football stuffed up my shirt, with DD I was the same waist measurement as I am now at 24 weeks!!

Have a good weekend

HC- Hope you are resting up,have been thinking of you and hoping its all good news tomorrow x

Dangirl- Really good news about your scan, I hope you can relax now.Its quite scary there is an October thread, time is flying by, 9 month seemed so far away

AggieP- Hope you have fantastic and restful hols. I know what you mean about hearing the heartbeat, I got quite worked up last week then heard the little heartbeat and am now relaxed again.

Jersey- big baby!!! perhaps he/she is trying to tell you something! They might want more chocolate

HITC- Hope you're not getting too many pains, i too was told it was everything stretching. I too am getting a few little pains but lots of cramps and aches, especially in my bottom

Wallace- dates!!! Wishing you well for your scan, how exciting! Are you going to try and find out if it is a boy or a girl?

Maewest- Hope you have a great weekend with your parents, its great you're looking forward to it, I wouldn't feel quite the same if it were me

Kayzed- Whereabouts in Oz are you visiting? I'm sooo jealous Are you getting over your flu ok?

Kbaby- last weekend i was complaining about not showing but it has got bigger every day this week and now i look like i have swallowed a football! It happened so quickly, I've been looking like a tramp at work because nothing fits me. I have a big shopping trip planned this weekend

A week today until my scan!!!! We are all doing so well and we are now into February!

usandbump · 02/02/2006 21:44

Oh my goodness there are soooo many of us July mummies!
Also wanted to say hello to Agalch, oldiemum, IamBlossom, Puddytat99, Straightforward, Spub and Bumpybel

Hope you are all blooming (or at least not throwing up anymore!!)

bumpybel · 02/02/2006 22:25

Evening everyone... loads to read since i was last on.

Am having a really nervous evening tonight. I've got two step children and their mother hasnt been the most cooperative in letting us see them recently (six weeks so far - evil ex is fairly nutty). As a result, we've put off telling them about the baby until we can sit down and talk it through. We'll we've decided to tell them tomorrow and i'm incredibly nervous about it. They are lovely with me (thank god!) and I think they will be secretly quite excited,(dss - aged 9 has commented that he'd quite like either a 'really old brother' or a 'really young baby one'!!), so i'm not too worried about his reaction. Dsd is older again and I think will be quite caring. However i am quite worried about how the ex will twist it round... Just want to get tomorrow over with now![if there was a nervous face, this would be one]

HC really hope things go ok with your results. Let us know. Will be thinking of you.

Dangirl... you sound 100 percent better and more cheerful today... glad youre feeling happier.

Wallace... hope the scan goes well. Mines on Tuesday and I'm literally counting the hours.

That pole thing everyones talking about, i'm not sure if it's what i'm getting or not. Mine kind of feels like uncomfortable trapped wind, every so often, but varies from side to side. I guess it could just be wind. A part of me is desperate for it to be the baby wriggling about!

Right off to rub moisturiser into ever growing belly! Take care all x

usandbump · 03/02/2006 06:43

morning bumpybel

It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about apart from the reaction of the ex and it sounds like whatever you do she may handle it badly. Don't let her spoil it this is your exciting news and you're are extending what sounds like a lovely family! Good luck x
