Well, I was about to post to the normal one and I saw we were about to change to a new thread, so thought I'd start it as noone else had!!

Hi girla! I am now 15+6 and have felt a few flutterings, but really couldn't swear they're not my dinner rearranging itself! Like to think they're Pip though...

Which reminds me, we've christened this bump 'Pip' - we had 'bean' last time (fairly common I believe) but we still call DD 'Beanie B' so it didn't seem right to have another. Not really sure about 'Pip' though - we thought about 'SB' (as in second baby) but DH didn't like it. SO come on you guys - confess! What sloppy name do you call your bump?

Oh, and for those of you worrying about maternity pay - it's even worse when you have your own business. It appears that I'm entitled to precisely sod all squared.

Hi Everyone

17+4 Thanks for all the Birthday wishes last week. I had a great day. Only had to go into work for the morning, so went and did a bit of retail therapy (well some more maternity bras and bits for baby). We went out for a meal in the evening, which was lovely too.

As for bump names, mine has been called Blob. Not too exciting there, sorry. I've been having lots of flutterings. I forgot how weird it is to have a conversation with someone while these are going on and keep a straight face!!!

I too am struggling in the evenings with feeling tired. It's been hard as I'm studying part time at the moment (training to be a teacher) the tutorials are in the evening, so by the time I get in, I just grunt at my other half and climb into bed.

I now look almost like I've got a bump, instead of looking like I'm fat!!!!! I was queuing for the loo in the shopping centre yesterday with my coat undone and this old lady let me go before her because she remebered what it was like being pregnant and trying to hold on. Bless her!!!

As for maternity pay/leave, I'm not sure yet what I'm doing because I only work part time at the moment and with studying too. It also comes down to school budgets, as a teaching assistant I'm employed on a termly basis, so it all depends on the funding. Will know more after Easter, when it all comes through for the next school year but the Head can't see a problem and he's really great and understanding.

Hope everyone is feeling well and not too tired. Chat with you soon.

Our bump is called sproglet. We used this with DD, too, and she thinks it's a great name for a baby.

IamBlossom · 31/01/2006 12:19

Sprocket, Bumpy Number 2.

Hello ladies,
kayzed sorry to hear you've had dissapointing news..if its any consolation I have to be in hosp too ...better safe than sorry tho' eh?

As for names we call this one alfie ..which is what we plan to name the baby if its a boy...so if its a girl we'll have to change our ways

have been feeling a few movements I think, but like SF I couldn't swear that its not my dinner

Evening girls, hope you are all well. Had my scan today and thankfully everything is hunky dory!!! I am 14 + 6 today so my due date is now the 23rd instead of the 27th July.Spoke to consultant about having a normal delivery with my 3rd degree tear and he said it was only actually a 2nd degree tear so no reason not to proceed with a vaginal delivery so i am a very happy mummy tonight.Makes all the difference to the rest of the pregnancy,i was soooo scared of maybe having a cs. Anyway i'm away to have my steak & chips and glass of wine to celebrate my babe being fine.Oh and i booked the family on a weeks holiday to Cyprus today so something else to look forward to.

HumphreysCorner · 31/01/2006 18:21

Evening ladies

Just got home to find a letter from the midwife saying the results of my blood tests for Downs are 1:190 so have to see the Consultant tomorrow to discuss having an amnio.

Am totally distraught.

Will let you know how it goes.

xxx

IamBlossom · 31/01/2006 19:04

HC. Hard to know what to say except for you don't know till you know. Try not to stress out completley, although I know will anyway. I am thinking of you sweetheart, please check in again tomorrow and let us all know what the consultant says.

HC - thinking of you xxx.
I am waiting for results myself, had bloods done 6 days ago.

Kayzed - I am positive they were BH. Could feel the tightening all around the uterus and it would go rock hard and it would last about a minute. Not painful.
The Dr in the premature clinic said that they have been documented down to as early as 9 weeks pregnant so it is definetely possible. Also had them from quite early on with DD - ca 20 weeks and onward.
Glad to hear that yours have also quitened down

Have a nice evening all.
Got my cervical scan tomorrow. Please keep your fingers x-ed for me

Dangirl

agalch · 31/01/2006 21:29

thinking of you too dangirl, hope your scan goes well tomorrow.hugs to you.

AggiePanther · 31/01/2006 21:40

((HC)) thinking of you - have my tests thursday and am nervous cos I'm 37 - remember 1 in 190 is still a small risk, although I know that's not much help when you're worried sick - sending virtual hugs - let us know how you get on won't you?
((Dangirl)) - good luck tomorrow and let us know your news too won't you

Agalch - glad the scan went well When are you having your holiday ..we've booked to go to spain at easter so will be flying at 28 weeks

agalch · 01/02/2006 06:50

Hi Aggie
We are going to Cyprus at Easter and i'll be 26 weeks when we fly out so safe to go.Have not had a hol since 2003 and i know we wouldnt be able to afford a hol next year with a newish babe and 3 other kids.My eldest pays an adult price cos hes 14 now so too expensive.Really looking forward to it.Only going for a week but all inclusive so should be great.

mumswish · 01/02/2006 08:31

HIJACK ALERT

HC - I'm so sorry to hear about your results, dont worry yet tho, it may be nothing, you never know. 1:190 is still only a small risk.

I've got my fingers crossed for you my love.

You know where I am if you need me.

heartinthecountry · 01/02/2006 10:35

HC - really feel for you. I know how scary this must be. Hopefully by the time you see this you will have seen the consultant and have a clearer idea of where you go next.

If I can help at all then do CAT me. I guess I am sort of in the same position, in that I am possibly looking at a baby with special needs. But, I suppose from the other side, I do have a dd with special needs, who doesn't have Down's but is in many ways similar to a child with Down's. So I can kind of see both sides of what you may be facing IYSWIM.
