lilacbump - Glad your injection and bloods went ok. I've got my 28 week checkup and bloods tomorrow.

I've got a weird rash/spots on my hands. Anyone got any ideas ... doctor can't fit me in until Tuesday!

Your hospital looks great! I must admit I'm not looking forward to being on a ward, especially being a new mum trying to cope with cries and everything on a ward. Feel like I will be on display like some circus freak show.

bumpinsheffield · 15/03/2006 14:00

Had my 28week scan and appointment yesterday. Baby is growing ok so far and I still have a posterior lying placenta, which is really good news considering last experience.

vbab, Barnsley have facilities for a 4d scan!!? No-one has even metioned this to me before now and I was completey unaware that they were so widely available. I was under the misguided impression they were only available in London or privately or something so I haven't even asked! I'm in Sheffield so registered at Jessops, anyone know if they are available round here?

Also got rid of my maternity support tights (in very attractive "American Tan") at my appointment due to the fact that there wasn't enough material to go over my bump so they kept riding down to somewhere in between my waist and my knees and bringing my trousers down with them. However the only alernative was support stockings, the kind they give you while you're in hospital. They come in an altogether more attractive white so now I look even sexier!!:o

I have a Mamas & Papas travel system for sale if anyone is interested. Let me know if you want more info.

vbab78 · 15/03/2006 16:13

bumpinsheffield - As far as I know the closest is the Babyview company in Barnsley, I live near Sheffield, but I couldn't get an appointment. WISH I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT IT SOONER!

I would suggest doing a search on google uk or something for 4D scans and have a look. LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANYTHING as I've tried and the closest I have seen after Barnsley is Manchester.

GOOD LUCK.

diddle · 15/03/2006 18:50

lilacbump - wow, that looks like a gorgeous hospital, havent had my tour yet, but i know if we are low risk then we get a room and en suite but i imagine nice mint green walls (hmm maybe not nice) those rooms look lovely. i'm coming to stay at your house Grin
In the nicest possible way, i'm glad you've got a rash too.

vbab - what are your spots like?? are they little white ones? do you have any on your feet? will hunt for 4d scans for you

diddle · 15/03/2006 18:52

vbab - found one \link{http://www.reassur3d.com/index.html\sheffield scans}

LilacBump · 15/03/2006 19:27

diddle, is the rash you have itchy at all? mine isn't. it's more like really dry red skin. i've had eczema for most of this pregnancy and normally don't have it.

LilacBump · 15/03/2006 20:06

i've just seen on the boots website that they have 20% off on the Mamas and Papas Pliko P3 Advance Pushchair and on the Pliko Pramette. quite a big saving there if you want one of those.

diddle · 15/03/2006 20:22

lilacbump - my rash i very red, not sore or itchy, a little dry but then so is the rest of my body.

Gonna have to take a look at the boots website now. I am officially addicted to pushchairs. I am a childminder, so any excuse to buy a new one.

diddle · 15/03/2006 20:25

ok shouldn't have looked!! the twin aria is reduced and i've got that, bougtht it for full price, that will teach me.

vbab78 · 16/03/2006 08:58

diddle - Thanks for the scan link in SHEFFIELD!!! Grin Can't get it out of my head now. Done a complete 360 degree turn on not wanting to know the sex. Not sure whether just to stop myself and wait. Got 28 week check up this afternoon. Are you going to have a scan?

My spots ... I apologise if my description upsets anyone ... raised bumps that are skin coloured all on my hands, got a couple of spots on my chest and legs but I think they are "normal" spots. When I pick the ones on my hand, yes I know I shouldn't, the liquid is clear, then the spot goes red/yellow but still clear liquid. Made a right mess of my hands Angry.

trinity1 · 16/03/2006 11:20

Hi all, am 28 weeks tomorrow. Wanted to book the 4D scan early but DP kept dithering. Because of that when he did finally come round to the idea yesterday we couldn't get an appointment in Chichester (nearest to home), Portsmouth, Windsor, Waterlooville, Slough, Tunbridge Wells, Colchester or East London. In the end we found one in Central London but we were lucky because its close to the last date before they won't perform the 4D scan. Didn't realise it was so popular! Little red bumps have appeared just above my knees, they don't hurt but look weird!
Bought the Urban Detour travel system from Mothercare last week. They will keep it for you for up to six months as long as you allow ten days notice for delivery so we're going to contact them just before the due date (thats if she doesn't make an appearance before then!) Hope everyone is ok. Have a craving for lemonade ice lollies at the moment.....:)

diddle · 16/03/2006 12:06

vbab - I have already had my scan, a couple of weeks ago, it was amazing. you should definitly have one!!!

abbey1515 · 16/03/2006 13:56

Oh, am feeling very sorry for myself! Am no reduced to slippers in school- shoes all too tight and yesterday developed blisters round my ankles where they rubbed me! Anyone suffering huge pudding feet and ankles?

diddle · 16/03/2006 14:31

not yet abbey - can't you find some good slip on backless shoes?

Laura032004 · 16/03/2006 17:13

Sorry to hear about your feet abbey - do you stand up all day at school? Might be worth mentioning it to the MW though - I haven't got any swelling at all yet. Def try and get some comfy slip-ons - the shops should be getting the summer ranges in now :)

Will remember that, waswondering!

Diddle and Laura, have backless shoes now, but whole feet swollen, so can't get them on properly and heels hanging off back! Am going to call midwife, as is really painful. Have started putting feet up on chair and sitting down through lessons, but swelling never really goes down.
Have first NCT class tonight- 7:30 to 9:30- DH says should just go in slippers as they will understand, but don't want them thinking am complete hypochondriac!

mrsbabookaloo · 17/03/2006 13:01

Abbey, I've got swollen feet too, and for some reason I really thought that I wouldn't get them. Because it was just one foot at first, and combined with bad cramp, I started to get a bit paranoid that I had a blood clot and might die in the night! This is what comes of reading too much advice on the internet...My mum persuaded me go and get it checked out, so I spent ages at the hospital last night, waiting and feeling sillier and sillier that I had gone in for something so trivial. I also forgot to take my notes in with me, and was made to feel really bad about that. But of course, everything was fine; they put me on the monitor so I heard little kicky's heartbeat for a good while. She wouldn't stay still, as usual!

So, I'll just put up with my swollen feet, I guess. Sorry you can't get into your shoes Abbey: i think yours must be worse than mine...or you wear more glamorous shoes than me!

abbey1515 · 17/03/2006 13:25

Glad everything is ok, and its not just me!
No, don't wear glamourous shoes, but have walking problem anyway, and I think that's why they are so bad. I was in wheelchair until being about 18, so have got very weak muscles etc and terrible posture! Anyway, pink fluffy slippers going down a storm in all-boys school! Actually they are being so good about it, I don't have to lift a finger!

LilacBump · 17/03/2006 17:37

hi all

i had my consultant appointment today at the hospital. my water sample had sugar in it and so they did a glucose test but it's all normal, so am not diabetic. must have been the chocolate spread sandwich i had at 4am!

slinkstah · 17/03/2006 19:22

Hi everyone:)
if you eat something really sugary before you have your urine tested would it definatly show sugar?
i might test it out next appointment, for a laugh Grin
although i have my lucozade test next time i go, does everyone get one of these?

Laura032004 · 18/03/2006 08:45

abbey1515 - How did the NCT class go? I heard the parentcraft classes when I went to the Health Centre to see my MW yesterday, and I felt quite jealous of all the first time mums. Goodness knows why?!? It all seemed really exciting last time, but this time I already knew all the answers to the questions.

LilacBump - glad your GTT went OK. slinkstah - I think the lucozade test is a glucose tolerance test isn't it? I was always given lucozade to drink for mine anyway.

Saw MW yesterday, and urine all clear, so hopefully the UTI I had on holiday is well gone. I told the MW I was surprised by how painful the contractions were that I'd had before the a/b's got stuck in, and she said it was really common. Apparently UTI's are a cause of premature labour, which is why they monitor for them so carefully.

Hope everyone is having a nice restful weekend - unfortunately ds didn't realise, and still got up at 5am!

I'm 29 weeks this week which is great but I don't finish work until 8 weeks Friday. Sad

I'm one of the lucky ones, no sickness or health issues, I just feel exhausted, slightly achy and cannot concentrate. I would finish early if it wasn't for the money and the fact that I want to have as long off as possible after baby is born.

Sorry for whinging everyone just feeling sorry for myself, wishing I was in bed.

On a good note Grin, baby's room is now decorated, got carpet coming Saturday and furniture coming next Monday. Then I can go shopping. YIPPEE.
