Hmmm, i'm guessing then that that line wouldn't even come close to working. Your boss sounds lovely...no really he does! LOL

Will check back later and see how it went for you! x

KathrynWales · 08/02/2006 18:22

You're right, Lottielou, boss is impervious to anything cute unless it is a 20 yr old guy in tight trousers.

Went in today but have got to go back next week and "talk about the future". Apparently he doesn't know "what they are going to do with me" as I am on a trainee management scheme.

Think I am in the dog house !!

Btw, Is anyone else's bottom growing in sync with their bump? Teenage daughter assures me it is going very 'Beyonce' but I fear she is just being kind. Suspect I am developing a rear 'shelf' that will eventually accommodate a large vase and a carriage clock...

xx

Lottielou · 08/02/2006 19:14

Well KathrynWales, you do know that when you're signed off sick and then go onto Maternity leave they can't take away any of your role now, no way can they demote you. If he says 'see what we'll do with you' then he can't do anything. As i said earlier he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Your position has to be kept open for you.
Grrr, i hate men like that!
Oh and my behind is growing too, DF assures me that it isn't and he still loves it but like he's gonna tell me differently - i'm sure he likes his head on his shoulders
Well i'm gonna go and be a couch potato and veg in front of the TV, Goodnight all, Catch you tomo! (well not literally as i'm 'not allowed to lift'....... blah blah blah)
x sweet dreams x (for those who manage to get some sleep, i know i get hardly any)

bubbly1973 · 08/02/2006 20:29

hiya girls,

lottielou, have you tried gaviscon advance, i get really really bad heartburn, and doctor gave me prescription for gaviscon advance (why pay for it when you can get it free!) by the way, did you find out what you were having?

as for sleeping, your supposed to sleep on the left side, thats the best side for mum and baby apparently, but as i get bigger and bigger its getting hard to sleep in any position

i have got really big, i now use my bump as a little table, very handy!

last time i bought things when i was having ds i remember washing everything, not sure why i did that, thinking about not doing it this time around, but then i will feel guilty that its not freshly washed...does it really matter?

do you girls wash all the clothes even though they are brand new?

LilacBump · 08/02/2006 20:43

eek! i've just eaten a chicago town pizza and it had mould on it. only noticed as i was half way through eating it. it was in date etc, so i will be taking it back to tesco tomorrow and have a moan at them. it's not something i usually eat and i don't think i will again!

i didn't wash any new clothes with DD, but i will this time.

heartburn is a problem for me too. i've just been using rennies and trying to avoid foods that cause me to have it more (sadly wholemeal bread which i am so enjoying).

i always try to sleep on my side as i've heard that sleeping on your back isn't good in later pregnancy. something to do with the baby putting pressure on arteries...

BABY2 · 08/02/2006 21:16

when i had ds i didnt wash anything that was bought new, i had been told to do it as apparentley the shops might have used cleaners that arn't non-bio and it might irrotate there skin. this never happened to ds so i wont be washing these new cloths i buy either. (too much like hard work)

I am having great dificulty sleeping already, i used normal pillows last pg between my legs when layed on my side and found that to work but i carn't seem to get them in the right place this time so i have just orded the most expencive pillow in the world (i'm sure) from blooming marvolus that is realy long so it will suport bump and legs.
I always used to sleep on my back but the last couple of nights i have done this i have woke up with realy bad back ache so wont do that any more.

NOT LONG TILL JUNE NOW!!!!!

diddle · 09/02/2006 06:50

baby2 - fancy saying scary things about June!!!

diddle · 09/02/2006 07:47

Morning ladies, what a flippin night i've had, only got 5 hours sleep. I am knackered.
On a good note, i'm 23 weeks today can't believe its here already where are the weeks going?

bubbly1973 · 09/02/2006 08:15

hey congrats on reaching 23 weeks! im also 23weeks today too!

i do look back to the early stages of pregnancy and its horrible when i think of all the worry of miscarrying, not knowing if all is well, but now, feeling the baby move and kick all the time is such a reasurrance.

Laura032004 · 09/02/2006 08:20

Glad to hear that a few of you have been signed off work if you were struggling. I was off sick from the start of December with DS, and he was born at the start of April, so I had nearly 4 months. I think I started my maternity leave in early February though as my GP would only do sick notes for a fortnight at a time and I got fed up of going back and forth to him.

I feel a lot better in this pg, not sure if that is lack of stress with not working, or just good luck. It is hard looking after a little one (poor you diddle!), but on a bad day I can just sit on the sofa and have a rest while he plays.

I'm not sleeping too badly, which is good as ds is still waking several times a night, and the dog always wants to be let out at night . I've got one of the huge cushions from bumpto3.com, but I'm not using it yet - I need to get DH to drag it down from the top of the wardrobe.

With regards to washing, I did wash everything that I got for ds, but I acutally enjoyed it In fact it was the only time that any of his stuff ever got ironed! I will be washing everything I've had put away since ds, because we've moved house since then, and some of it has been stored in the loft.

Very jealous of you being 23 weeks already diddle - I'm only 20+1!

Hi everyone
I have huge huge bump, and can't wear any of my coats at the moment
Baby2, I have that pillow and it is absolutley the best thing in the world- I can't bear to leave it behind when I go to work!
Kathryn, love idea of commune- but think would have to do without the deadlocks- and do you think we could still wear makeup etc? What kind of book are you writing? I was asked to do one by an educational publishers, but haven't got round to starting it... my dream job, sitting at home writing boooks... how lovely!

Lottielou · 09/02/2006 15:31

Good Afternoon Ladies.
Bubbly - I'm going to make an appt with GP to get some Gaviscon, hopefully that'll do the trick. And nope didn't find out what we are having, we both decided to wait.

With regards to washing things, i've decided that i am going to wash all the baby clothes, nothing nicer than putting on soft fresh clean clothes so thought the baby would like that too. But each to thier own, i think if i was working then i owuld think twice about it but seens as i have loads of time on my hands i dont see why not.

Had check up with my m/wife today all was ok but i mentioned about all the problems i'm having with my pelvis (spd)(not that the crutches and big support belt gave it away or anything....) and she said that i may be induced if it gets worse, which it probably will. Apparently if my mobility in my hips get worse then it could cause great problems. Anyone heard of this before? She said if i were to be then it would be at 38 or 39 weeks. I guess at least i would know when i was going to have the baby. Hmmm, will ponder over that one!

I'm feeling a bit cr@ppy today, dont know why just feel miserable - i've started doing a cross stitch design for the baby but there's only so much of that i can do and only so much daytime tv i can watch - i've read everything in sight, any ideas to help pass the hours? I'm going insane. It's a lovely day outside here and all's i want to do is go for a walk but i can't or at least go shopping, but i can't drive - too painful. So i am really limited to what i can so!

Phew, feel better for getting that off my chest!

Lottielou · 09/02/2006 15:32

Diddle & Bubbly.... Congrats on your 23rd weeks!!

I'm a week behind you today!

diddle · 09/02/2006 16:24

aww lottie - you must be feeling naff. Think you need a little diddle day trip, with diddle chaufeur

Lottielou · 09/02/2006 16:27

Diddle - i like the sound of the diddle day trip in the diddle car, sounds fun! pmsl

KathrynWales · 09/02/2006 16:56

Hello all

Poor LottieLou Didn't realise they'd go down the inducton route with SPD. It doesn't give you much less time in agony either, does it, if they will wait till 38/39 weeks anyway! thought you were going to say 34 wks or something.

Know what you mean about daytime TV. Started to watch the jeremy Kyle show this morning to watch usual paternity battles/ I slept with my best friend's sister's brother's budgie etc etc but even chav arguments are boring now... and I HAD ordered some books from Amazon but they have been lost in the post so am now at the stage of reading mini egg tube ingredients.....

I peaked about 11 o'clock this morning. Pram/car seat etc was delivered so i spent ages trying to screw the wheels on (phew) and then spent half an hour 'playing' with it up and down the sitting room (Avoided window though, as didn't want neighbours to think I have a Baby Annabel fetish...)

As for the mumsnet commune, Abbey1515, of course we can wear make up! Any hippy commune worth its salt knows the importance of bronzer and accessories.. May have to be strict about the dreadlocks though... Can't have a straightened chic hair-do when wearing compulsory dungarees and jesus sandals. We may be able to supply you with a bobble hat though, if your dreadlocks really offend.

Well girlies, I have a new Heat magazine to read so my sofa beckons. Hope you are all well xx

oops!!!!!!!! shoulden't keep clicking

bubbly1973 · 10/02/2006 08:14

lottielou, how did it go at the gp...did that gaviscon work? if you are any thing like me you will be ditching the spoon they give you and swiging it out of the bottle!

am i the only one who bends down in an unlady like manner these days? if i have to pick anything up from the floor my bump gets in the way!! and i can just about manage to put my shoes on if i balance on 1 leg and lean against the wall!

but i wouldnt change a thing, i am sooo happy im pregnant, its the best ever!

vbab78 · 10/02/2006 08:53

Hello Ladies, I was wondering if any of you had advice about reusable nappies and more importantly whether to use them. This is my first child and I have no experience at all and everyone I know has always used disposables!

I've read lots of info about reusable nappies and really like the idea of it even if it is more work. Also works out cheaper which is always a bonus!

However my main concern would be getting them dry and making sure they don't dry hard (if drying in house) as I don't have a tumble dryer. Motherease nappies have been recommended to me by www.thenappylady.co.uk for being relatively quick drying as well as other things.

I've also been thinking that if my child was to go to nursery from say 7/8 months then the nursery would use disposables anyway. So should I use disposables for this reason as I see little point in paying out for reusable then to go and use disposables?

Please help.

usandbump · 10/02/2006 08:59

Hi vbab this is my first pregnancy too so I can't help you with the pros and cons but I am a nursery nurse and a nursery will use whatever nappies you choose as long as you provide them. They won't wash them for you though

diddle · 10/02/2006 09:38

vbab - i know nothing about nappies either, but i used to work in a nursery and they should use whatever you ask them too, not just put disposables on your child.
I would be worried about then going hard too, like my towels do when i can't be arsed to use the dryer.
