Well ladies, this will hopefully be our last new thread pre-baby ... here's hoping it will kickstart some baby action!

Just marking my spot. 37 weeks tomorrow!

festivefiggy · 29/11/2011 19:19

Marking my space too 38+4 today and bored bored bored with lack of symptoms come on baby get moving!!

NorthernChinchilla · 29/11/2011 19:35

Yay, last thread in the ante-natal section!
And of course, there will be wonderful Christmases, bouncing babies and completely babe-alicious ladyeezz all round.

Ahem.

Got that out of my system thank goodness, think it's the 'last day at work tomorrow' wibble surfacing in weird ways.
Actually, had a meal out this lunchtime that everyone came along to (I had three courses, which I NEVER do) and it was really jolly. Got a wonderfully ridiculous bear suit, some baby grows and a voucher from people, dead kind. I actually am looking forward as much to showing off the baby to them as to family!

Will have to investigate an Xmas name alteration like figgy- how'd you do that?

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 29/11/2011 20:00

Marking my place. 39+4 today & it looks like I'm in the latent phase although I fully expect this to go on for days. Only occasionally painful though & just the kick in the bum I needed to get my "to do" list done :)

lalababy · 29/11/2011 21:25

Marking my place too! U would think I would have more time to post on ML but actually find that lazing in bed takes too much of my time :)

Getting our windows replaced so hoping that nothing happens for the next few days. Although baby hasn't even engaged!

Good luck honey!

Kristy hope we hear from u soon!

AwomancalledHorse · 30/11/2011 01:13

Marking my place!
36+6 today...23 hours until I can have a home birth, not that I'm counting Grin

lala, hope the window fitting is going well? DH is redecorating the spare room this weekend, so hope LO stays put until Monday!

Northen, sounds like you had a great lunch time! Ridiculous bear suit sounds awesome!

Honey, have you got lots left 'to do'?

starjules · 30/11/2011 07:29

Morning, I am marking my place again too.

Been more of a lurker but finish work tomorrow so will have more time to chat!

I was due 31st Dec so only just qualified for this thread but as the bean is nearly 36 weeks and been transverse/breech since day 1 have now got a date for a elcs so I know I will deff have a Dec baby Yeah!!

OiMistletoe · 30/11/2011 08:56

Morning all, marking my place. :) 39+5 for me, same as honey, but GingerBaby is just latent, and lazy, and showing no signs of making an appearance. Hey ho!

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 30/11/2011 09:36

AWCH you can have a home birth right now if you want, they can only offer recommendations not refusals.

Still lots to do but yesterday was very productive :) Finished painting the baby's wardrobe. Baby clothes, bedding & reusable nappies all sorted & put away...I have a scary amount of vests, not sure how that happened Confused DP put the Babybay together. I ordered photo frame cards for birth announcements & even managed to do my epi-no & reached 8cm quite easily.

Still got to clean the house, cook for the freezer & finish reading the LLL BF book but I feel like the penny has finally dropped...I'm going to have a baby, here, very soon. Where the hell did the last 9 months go??? Shock

Falalalalababy · 30/11/2011 09:58

awch windows are looking good, but I am trapped in the house. But then. I guess it is a good thing to be resting right?

Don't really have much to do... Nesting has obviously not kicked in coz I am too lazy to do anything in the house!

Honey, sounds like u have been super busy!!! Good stuff!!!

sazzermol · 30/11/2011 10:28

Ooh have to jump on the Christmas name change thing soon, will get thinking. We had the plasterers in yesterday so just need to give that a couple of days to dry out then I can get on with the major bits on the todo list here. Currently have a dining room full of stuff for baby room so until that's sorted I'll feel a bit unorganised
Might get some freezer filling done today to make me feel better - chunky veg sauce for pasta bake, and Spanish chorizo chicken I think....mmmmm.

festivefiggy · 30/11/2011 12:16

I've just done my first load of baby clothes washing in anticipation for his arrival aw it's all so small and cute isnt it!!

Have finished my chartership application its taken me since April, have hated every moment of it and am not convinced have done enough but its either now or never, i think have been putting it off to tempt fate and have baby come out but now i am due next week (eek) just had to bite the bullet and get it finished. Have spent the last 2 days doing it and about to press the submit button. FINALLY!!! Will have to think of ways to entertain self now in the day until LO decides to make an appearance.

Falalalalababy · 30/11/2011 16:09

sazzer u r making me drool!!! Figgy just give into the laziness of it all!!! Soon u will find that sloth just gets the better of you:)

I just went and had lunch with a few women from my NCT class which was fun. We are all due around the same time to it is pretty good. But probably funny to see all the preggos together :)

Hehehe

sazzermol · 30/11/2011 17:32

fala how did you organise the first meet-ups post NCT classes? I'd like to start coffee/cake/lunch meet ups as we finished classes last week but I'm a real wuss when it comes to making the first move in things like this. Blush
Just want to get out of the house a bit more and chat baby stuff without boring the bejeezus out of my non baby friends!
P.s the Spanish chicken smells gooooood but it's destined for the freezer out of harms way Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 01/12/2011 09:21

First day of mat leave- got the first load of washing on, and am awaiting the Health Visitor, so should probably get dressed and showered Confused!

NOT the best way to finish work yesterday- ran out of time and flapped out without sending various e-mails, and without clearing my drawers, so hope that my replacement Jon needs body spray and tampons Blush.

Not helped by the fact that I had my poor Mum on the phone, who's being harassed by her neighbours. She's having a small extension at the back of the house- literally just bringing the dining room out to the same level as the kitchen, which is precisely the extension that next door had four years ago- so that she can have a purpose built ramp and door to get her electric wheelchair in.
The neighbours have been kicking off non-stop, and the bloke was round as soon as the builders had gone yesterday, being really aggressive, threatening to sue and reducing my Mum to tears. She's a severely disabled pensioner who lives on her own ffs! And I can't do anything apart from talk her through it and listen as I'm so far away.

It makes me so angry though- they should know better, he's a firefighter and she's a Sister in the local hospital!

Sorry for the rant, hope others are having better days.

mopsytop · 01/12/2011 13:41

That's awful Northern - why are people so needlessly aggressive and vicious? Your poor Mum.

I spent morning in hospital being monitored AGAIN for preeclampsia. All fine again. Well, protein in urine and uric acid higher than normal in blood but nothing drastic, so have to go back again next week. Been in every week for 3 weeks now. It's great they are so cautious, but it's a bit tedious!

OP posts:
festivefiggy · 01/12/2011 14:58

Northern big Angry for your mum and her neighbour people are so bloody precious about things these days and react without thinking makes me glad to be in my "period of confinement" and able to avoid all the arsey arseholes out there. Today have spent the first afternoon so far lazing on sofa with tea and crap mags Grin oh and LOTS of Xmas tunes had a self imposed ban on them until 01st.

Got my works Xmas meal tonight at 6 very low key stuff this year as there are 3 of us pregnant now but will still try to make an effort just hope my nicer clothes fit.

Mopsy you are due quite late December aren't you are they talking at all about u delivering early or them bringing you forward since you having a bit of a time?

mopsytop · 01/12/2011 15:02

No, they haven't mentioned it yet. I would really rather not be induced. So I hope they don't! So far it's always been sort of borderline, not drastic, so fingers crossed it stays that way! I also don't want a consultant-led birth, want to use the midwife led unit, so I hope everything stays stable ...

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 01/12/2011 15:32

Cheers all. I simply can't believe the way that some people behave.

I will have my revenge though: the other thing they've done is the classic of leaving their dog alone nearly every day for up to 12 hours when they're out at work, and the poor thing howls, whines, barks and cries- which is great if you're living next door and in all the time because of your disability. This has been going on for 8 years, and the one time my Mum tried to raise it...well, you can guess what happened.

So I shall not only position LO's cot on the adjoining wall to theirs when I visit, but record him crying and play it on a loop whilst we're out [evil cackle emoticon]

You must feel like you're on a piece of elastic with the hospital mopsy. Agree that it's reassuring they're keeping such a close eye, but having to be dragged in for monitoring every week sounds pants.

Good point on the Xmas tunes figgy, must dig some out!

kri5ty · 01/12/2011 16:37

Hey girls, I still haven't read any posts on a catch up... but hope you are all ok! And you're not going to evict me for being a November birth??!

Is anyone else close??

I was worried I wouldn't know when I went in to labour.. it started on Sunday about 3pm after my show, had them throughout the night, all mine were back contractions, then on Monday I knew it was labour, but I thought it may have just been latent phase... but at 3pm Monday I couldn't concentrate on anything whilst having a contraction, I could bare them, they were every 6 mins lasting 1 minute + when I got to hospital I was 3cm, and I was allowed to stay (in the canteen!) Until I was 4cm then it was time for my epidural... no details of what happened as I was unlucky, but an epidural, spinal block and episiotemy / forceps and 24 hours in hospital later Saul was born!!

One thing I will say is don't worry about stitches and episiotemy... I have loads of stitches, and although a bit uncomfy they don't hurt!

Take a pillow ... they had a shortage!
Baths really help in labour, I had one at the hospital and it really took the pain of contractions away.

Saul is feeding every 3 hours on the dot!

I can't pick him up or even feed or change his happy yet, Dan is doing absolutely everything and looking after me! He has been amazing!

mopsytop · 01/12/2011 16:39

Congrats kri5ty and sorry you had such a long, tiring labour and are now somewhat out of action. I am sure you'll be able to pick Saul up soon! Nice one that Dan is being so great!

OP posts:
OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 17:07

Forgot to say Kristy, I'm so happy for you that Dan is being a superstar! Grin He just needed the "dad" responsibility to kick in. Grin xxx

kri5ty · 01/12/2011 17:26

Thanks mopsy and oi! yup he def needed the dad responsibility... I will take all of this over a massage any time! He has done every change, dress, swaddle, hug, feed and burp! He has made all my food and been offering me brew and telling me to go to sleep!

mopsytop · 01/12/2011 17:33

That's great kri5ty! Now take his advice and get some rest! The more you rest, the sooner you'll be able to pick up Saul!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 01/12/2011 17:34

It's actually lovely kri5ty, Saul and Dan will have such a lovely bond now. Awww is making me a bit teary!
