Hopefully no one else has done it while my phone is messing about!

nanny Im due on Jan1st. Making very slow progress at getting the house ready although things are starting to happen.
-Just need DP to finish the kids wardrobe(today) so I can organise it.
-turn the cot around
-dp needs to get all the old furniture out the house
-put the coffee table in the garage
-get the christmas stuff out the loft and decorate

Then I think we're ready. Bags are packed (apart from dd's for staying at my parents) and everything is washed.
Still need to finish the babies mobile, but that doesnt need to be complete for the birth.
I also need to get everything ready for the official handover of my Brownie unit on Wednesday Sad

We meet with the consultant on Wednesday next week. The mw whispered that we should take my bag just in case. But realistically we expect to be booked for section the week beween Christmas & NY as they dont like to do CS at full term.

Its exciting and scary to think that baby could be here at the end of next week Xmas Shock

"but I am still unable to put a bloody show on the end of my foot"

Mum2be79, did you mean a bloody shoe by any chance? (if so, I sympathise!) Or is this some new and terrible pregnancy complication I haven't heard of? :)

SantaSHO · 12/12/2011 10:49

capy m2b broke her toe last week

Nanny01 · 12/12/2011 10:59

SantaSHO thanks that makes me feel better. wondering if baby is breach this morning as there is something rather hard under right rib. He does seem to shift. I guess I would settle for a section the same week as you I just hope they wouldn't do it Christmas week. Was hoping for a 2012 baby though as until last week I had thought I was in for a low intervention home birth. Trying to get stuff packed for the delivery. Will find out Wednesday. They said they weren't so concerned about a breach presentation more concerned if he is transverse. I think he moves alot still. Transverse seems to be his fav all curled up in a tight little ball. My worry is that he doesn't stick to one position as I think there is room being that he is no.5.

SantaSHO · 12/12/2011 11:07

As much as I want baby out I really dont want to be in the hospital on Christmas Day. My Brother and his family emigrate to Oz next autumn so we're having a big family day together at my parents and I really want to be there.
This baby hasnt moved since it sat in my pelvis back in October so I would be shocked if it was to move now. But given its position, the state of my pelvis and the size of the baby a section is pretty much a done deal. At the sizing scan 2 weeks ago baby was borderline normal/big.

Better get ready to collect dd from nursery before spending some time with my parents. Havent seen them for a week as they were away.

Happy Monday Ladies!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I am the happiest girl in the world right now and I have you guys to thank because if it wasn't for those of you who helped me with my maternity allowance claim I never would have applied and I never would have GOT IT APPROVED today. This had made the best of difference to us. Feck me, we have been living on £60 pw for the last 5 months. That includes fuel and food. I have had nothing to play with.

I am actually in tears.

miamamaClaus09 · 12/12/2011 11:19

aww fish pleased for you! well done!

Mum2be79 · 12/12/2011 11:26

Mum2be79, did you mean a bloody shoe by any chance? (if so, I sympathise!) Or is this some new and terrible pregnancy complication I haven't heard of?

Lol! That made me laugh so much I nearly ended up with a bloody show!!! (I did mean shoe. the 'e' and 'w' are next to each other on the key board!) Grin

fish really pleased for you.

Still waiting for my blinds but at least my neighbour Sharon is coming round for a cuppa. I feel a bit housebound. Can't be arsed to go anywhere, can't actually go anywhere and not seen anybody for 10 days! (Except my mother, PILs and the inside of a hospital!)

Nanny01 · 12/12/2011 11:57

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs- so pleased for you. Nobody needs money worrys but it always seems worse when you are expecting. SO pleased for you.

JingleFryn · 12/12/2011 12:03

happy Monday everyone!

Gosh, very excited about the possibility of some pre-Christmas babies (so long as one's not mine, you understand!) and hope all of you are doing ok.

Also hope everyone who set themselves the unenviable task of entertaining at the weekend had a nice time!

Can I join the sleepless night gang? My hips are playing up and added to that was DD joining us at 3 and thrashing round. Although on the plus side I was minus a snoring DH for 2 nights as he went up to Edinburgh for a friend's 40th. He was so hungover he threw up at the airport and on the Easyjet plane on the way home - ahh, he's so classy! (he's also 42 - needless to say my sympathy was rather lacking.)

Quick pain related query - just wondering if anyone's having buttock ache (I sound mad, I know!) When I stand up my butt is really aching and stiff (I think it's actually deep hip ache if I analyse it) - I can barely walk initially, then I'm fine once I get going. I'm loathe to see the doctor, as for a non-emergency I won't get an appointment for 2 weeks, and then I imagine I won't get a referral until after the baby's here, by which time I'm sure it'll have cleared up. Does anyone who has physio think it's worth going privately?

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 12/12/2011 12:23

Hi Fryn, I have just come back from the osteopath. Have been seeing her for pelvic issues, SPd at the front and lower back / buttock pain at the back. It's all interrelated, as when one part gets tight it can pull the other bones / ligaments out of alignment. Anyway, am finding it a big help, she does a combination of massage and gentle manipulation of the joints in lower back and pelvis
My experience of PG physio when I was PG with DS was not good. Was in agony with lower back/ buttock pain, totally seized up especially first thing or in middle of night. Physio just gave me exercises, nothing hands on, and didn't work at all. But that was NHS, private might be better. Anyway, I am liking the osteopath, but need to make sure they are one who is experienced in treating PG ladies

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 12/12/2011 12:23

Ps she has also helped a lot with my rib pain!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 12/12/2011 12:48

Fryn, I'm very, very familiar with that pain! I've had a lot of problems with that area for the last couple of years and with me it's that my sacro ileac is jammed up. I've been seeing an excellent private sports physio who does osteo sort of work and he's worked wonders. He did a combo of strong manipulation / alignment and being very strict about me doing rehab exercises - strengthening glutes and core and relaxing back/ quads. He's a legend. He's had to be a lot more hands-off during the pregnancy so I haven't been as much, but since I'm no longer running/playing hockey I'm not nearly so broken Grin

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 12/12/2011 13:18

I've also had that painfryn a private physio fixed mine at about 22 wks. It comes back from time to time and relieves by either sitting on a tennis ball or similar sized ball. Also a good pregnancy stretch for glutes is to be on all fours with hands on a Swiss ball then gradually pull back so that arms are straight and hips lowered. It also stretches upper back and arms.

knittiekitty · 12/12/2011 13:44

Parsley well done for finding a breakfast - it's all too Atkins diet for my taste, I do sympathise but it will keep you going til you speak to your diabetes contact again. I ran out of muesli this morning and had half a bowl of my DD's Ready Brek with cream. Disgusting but the reading was only 7.2. Before Metformin a few of my meals went above 10.0 and I was freaking about it. I was given a microwave omlette maker which I loaded with cheese - disgusting breakfast but filling, quick and good for readings.

Sorry to hear of back/pelvic pain - I'm not sure if that's worse than a broken toe but don't fancy either. I'm so glad I haven't had it and am marvelling at my escape so far as my mega GD bump measures 44 inches round. I can't get over my size - what is everyone else coming in at? I don't think I'll wear a two-piece belly dance outfit again, I can't imagine they make a net thick enough to disguise the after effects of this!

I've accidently slept this morning away. I felt lighter this morning and bounded DD to school but dozed off on sofa so went back to bed when I got in. Suddenly it's lunchtime and the house is still a tip and no laundry done. I was so sure baby had 'dropped' as my lower pelvis was full for the first time this morning, but after my 2 hour 'nap' it's hollow and squashy again.

It feels like I've been pregnant forever...roll on next tuesday my Induction Day.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 12/12/2011 14:13

Thanks knittiekitty scrambled egg on toast came in at 6.8 this morning so have another success. On Saturday every meal gave a reading between 9 and 11 which is why I was so down and fed up but since keeping my spreadsheet everything has been ok. I can even have sweet things but only in small portions in the evening. Starch seems to give me higher readings than sugar.

I'm going to try the muesli tomorrow Grin

miamamaClaus09 · 12/12/2011 14:16

I think my baby has moved position... I feel absolutley no pressure on my pelvis whatsoever today, and have no urge to wee, like I was doing every 30mins. It's not even uncomfortable to walk. Baby was head down at last hospital appt..
Have felt him move loads today, though so I don't need to worry do I? seeing MW next week anyway...

JingleFryn · 12/12/2011 14:21

Thanks for all the advice ladies! Glad to know I'm not alone, but very not glad that you're also suffering. There's a physio clinic round the corner from work so I might go in and ask if there's anyone who specialises in PG ladies. I think they also have an osteopath there - guess that's my Christmas spending money gone then!

knittie - yikes, induced next week?? That's very exciting in a slightly terrifying way!

parsley - I'll blow the dust off my Swiss ball and give that a go. Although my mind is boggling about sitting on a tennis ball. Given the size of my arse I'm not sure quite where to start with that!!

JingleFryn · 12/12/2011 14:23

mia mine's been popping up and down like a jack in the box at the moment - it'll probably change again for you, so I shouldn't worry, especially if you're seeing the m/w next week.

rednosedreindeerhead · 12/12/2011 14:24

hi everyone. sorry about your pain fryn boo hiss.

got some quick questions for everyone. anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea? is there any point?

and does anyone co-sleep/thinking about co-sleeping? interested in your thoughts.

I had my 34wk appt today and the midwife said I was still measuring 1cm big, so she agrees with me that i might be 35 weeks....1 week closer, just like that!! but he is still head down, back on the left, so that's good, seeing as i also just found out my hospital pretty much does a c-section if your baby is transverse or breech. the hospital I'm thinking of transferring to have trained their midwives to deliver these babies naturally so they are much more pro vaginal delivery, which is making me think i should swap to there, even though there's no sign of the Piglet being either of those things so far....

still, the idea of going from a, my plan to have a home birth to b, having a c-section is a pretty big jump. i know some of you other ladies might well be in this position and I feel for you all, it seems to be so much about luck/postcode/hospital.....

rednosedreindeerhead · 12/12/2011 14:24

kittie i missed your induction somehow, woweeeee that's amazing!!!!

FrillyMilly · 12/12/2011 14:32

red I don't think they can deliver transverse babies vaginally. Breech can be but a lot of midwives don't see breech births so don't have the skills. If you want to keep baby in good position sleep on your left side. Gravity helps to make them stay in a good position. I had to do this in labour to avoid a c section as DD was lying in a funny head down position and wasn't moving down.

Raspberry leaf tea I'm not bothering with this time. I drank loads last time and it seemed to make no difference. There's no harm in trying it though. Lots of people swear it makes a difference.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 12/12/2011 14:48

fish - great news! The full amount? I've had to appeal mine because of a cock up with an NI payment, so waiting to hear more now...

knittiekitty · 12/12/2011 14:54

Rednosed I had the 'choice' of induction at 38 weeks or s-section at 39. Not allowed to go full-term due to size and previous dystocia issue but I'm still hoping she'll start early by herself! We have childcare lined up for next week and DH is as desp for me to wait til Tues as I am to have her this afternoon! I'm relieved end is in sight.

We tried co-sleeping once with DD and it lasted for about 5 minutes as neither of us could relax for fear of squashing her. For days after I kept waking up holding the duvet bunched up in my arms in anxiety panic. Until really early one morning, I woke up cradling DH's head - he wasn't amused but that 'cured' me. DD slept happily in a creaky moses basket next to my side but one of my 'mummy mafia' pals put her DS into his own room straightaway as she couldn't sleep with his snuffling noises!
Parsley 6.8 is great - I 'crash' to below 5 if I don't have some carb too - hopefully we can celebrate returning to normal in January. I have a big list of treats lost lined up, starting with mincepies, shortbread, Quality St, cheesecake and Christmas cake. I'm not usually a sugar fiend but this is worse than dieting as I can't cheat even a little bit!
School run/lumber beckons.

rednosedreindeerhead · 12/12/2011 14:54

oh yeah fish great news!! i still haven't heard about mine.

just got a call from mothercare saying the wardrobe we ordered as part of a set for the nursery arriving THIS FRIDAY is now not being delivered until late January!!!! WTF?? we ordered it months and months ago Angry

tossers. nowhere to put all the baby things now, wanted to get it all done and dusted before the piglet popped out.
