Not everyone feels the higgs. It does happen to us all but some women feel it more than others.
I didn't feel then last pregnancy if this one

Brenda moves into the street the same summer we did 4and a half years ago. It is strange.

GiraffeAHolic · 11/12/2011 19:34

Evening all. Busy, busy weekend but house is now christmassy decorated, tree is up and dd's room is gutted and organised.

Funny couple of day, on and off HBs some very much more like contractions. Hot flushes, lots of pressure and I'm fairly sure I've lost some amniotic fluid (TMI but kind of gloopy greeny stuff when I went to the loo) and period pains. 37 weeks tomorrow so just seeing how things go.

Oh and Dh's grandmother said i was like a beached whale today Grin

greenlady78 · 11/12/2011 19:55

Wow, giraffe how exciting!!!

No snoring, but also no sleeping over here....I don't think I ever had the Higgs boson Grin

A question re. mattress - is a foam mattress of 1.5 in (3cm) too thin? What covers would you use on it to protect from leaks?

Thank you ladiessss, hope you are all well.

greenlady78 · 11/12/2011 19:56

By the way, I got this one as a present - www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_97129_10001?cm_vc=RelatedProductAccessory, anyone know if it is any good or too thin?

Oeisha · 11/12/2011 20:05

Evening all

Firstly Giraffe green amniotic fluid ISNT a good sign. Usually means meconium has come out. Babies can have allsorts of issues, espeically if the mecs been inhaled as it can gunk up their lungs, so ring MW NOW ....on the other hand, it be an infection and that also needs sorting...asap.

fish EEEK! Though having said 'eek', my discharge's been very thick the last few days, again with watery patches. Still no results from doctors, though I assume they'd have contacted me if it was an infection. I hope LO stays in a little longer, then they can't argue about dates etc...

I'm sure I've missed other exciting stuff, but I'm tired, so very tired.

Weekend went ok. Parents weren't too crazy, but Mum did give a bristled look when DH said we weren't having house guests for the first week or so of baby being here. I also pre-warned a lot about hospital not allowing visitors for more than an hour.

bk l8tr...

GiraffeAHolic · 11/12/2011 20:14

Thanks Oeisha I don't think it's green enough to worry about and was only a very small amount (I stupidly bought pink 'bloo' toilet blocks to please Dd, so investigation is difficult Blush)

Baby's moving around well, if it gets more voluminous I'll get checked.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 11/12/2011 20:17

giraffe I would call about the green fluid. They told us in antenatal class yesterday that amniotic fluid should be clear - green or brown amniotic fluid can mean that baby has released their bowels into it which means they might have been in distress at some point. Alternatively it might not be fluid but an infection that needs sorting out.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 11/12/2011 20:20

Sorry x-post giraffe.

SantaSHO · 11/12/2011 20:46

I agree with the ladies giraffe call the mw. The fact that its green enough for you to describe it as green is enough.
It's really serious if baby has emptied its bowels. Imagine being in a really confined space with those fumes.

Oh I said early I don't feel hb. When this baby gets active its just bad I reckon. So far tonight its made me catch my breath 3 times and brought a tear to my eye.
I presume its so sore because its breech, dd was never this painfull

supadupaturkeystupour · 11/12/2011 20:52

i had merconium. they can tell if baby is distressed really quickly and easily even if everything seems fine to you giraffe baby was immediately induced and i delivered 10hrs after arrival at the hospital. Green is not right, you need to be seen...........

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 11/12/2011 20:53

Seriously giraffe - call the delivery suite and ask to speak to a consultant. I shit you not - my MIL had this with DH and he had to be induced early to save him - you have to speak to someone who knows their stuff. DH was in special care baby unit even though he was full term because he'd inhaled the meconium. Please call and tell them!

Mulledbee · 11/12/2011 21:01

Oh gosh giraffe just caught up with the last few posts - hope you've contacted the MW already. Please do it ASAP if not.

greenlady78 · 11/12/2011 21:05

giraffe so sorry I did not pick up on the green stuff Sad I agree with the other ladies and would say call the midwife asap! In our NCT class they said the same, if brown or green, you must call and go in.

Anyone has an email address to giraffe's facebook/phone in case it takes her till tomorrow to log into Mumsnet?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 11/12/2011 21:07

No - I just checked the FB group and she's not a member :(

supadupaturkeystupour · 11/12/2011 21:11

i just checked fb too Sad

GiraffeAHolic · 11/12/2011 21:12

It's seriously no different in colour/consistency to thick discharge. Believe me, I'm a worrywart and would be straight on the phone if I thought there was a problem. I promise I'll phone delivery suite if I need to

Oeisha · 11/12/2011 21:16

I'd be worried if my discharge was greenish...the yellow stuff and fluidey bits were freaking me out this time last week...braver than me giraffe. Still might bw worth ringing them if you think your waters might be going, just so they know they are...

GiraffeAHolic · 11/12/2011 21:20

Not brave at all, i guess everyone has different takes on 'normal'. I wouldn't do/or not do anything that might put baby at risk.

Oeisha · 11/12/2011 21:43

I know you wouldn't, sorry, I was implying that I was a panicky freak rather than anything else.

Livened · 11/12/2011 21:43

HI all - hope giraffe u are ok - I'm sure you woud never do anything to put baba at risk - personally I'm knicker checking like mad for signs of amniotic fluid or show etc! My SIL had a still birth at full term and it turned out she had no fluid so I'm mega paranoid as she genuinely never realised her waters had gone (a leak over time they think).

The best advice I had was as long as baby is active then that is the best health check. I invested in a Doppler ages ago and I have used it only a handful of times, but on those occasions it's proved such a relief to know he's probably just asleep!

X

addictediam · 11/12/2011 21:55

Giraffe you really should ring and get checked.

OP posts:
GiraffeAHolic · 11/12/2011 22:07

Baby squirming around nicely. Have had constipation and I think it was discharge that came out whilst erm... straining.

I really appreciate everyones concern and if anything unusual happens overnight I will definitely phone. And ill speak to MW tomorrow to double check.

FrillyMilly · 11/12/2011 22:52

Giraffe when I was losing my mucus plug it was green. Like snot (sorry only way to describe it) so maybe it was a show rather than amniotic fluid. More came away when labour fully started and it was green and bloody.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 11/12/2011 23:31

I knew I shouldn't have had a nap at 4pm. Now I'm wide awake and wandering round AIBU poking people with sticks to see if they'll bite. There's going to be a nasty fall out soon!

I said to DH today that I didn't think LO would hang on until his due date and he agreed with me, but now I'm thinking he'll probably go overdue just because I'm so impatient and because I just jinxed it by saying he'll come early Xmas Hmm

FrillyMilly · 11/12/2011 23:41

I'm awake too. Had a nap this afternoon, not had a nap for ages. I really regret the nap now. I don't think the sugar from the cinnamon and caramel waffle carte dor ice cream I had this evening has helped.

This is the part of pregnancy that really drags I think. You spend every day wondering if a niggle is the start of things. I'm 35 weeks now and really ready for it to be over bit potentially 7 weeks left before I can cuddle my baby!!
