SantaSHO · 08/12/2011 16:35

Oh the light flickering is getting worse! Eeek!
Dd's wendyhouse is now roofless and I saw a wheeliebin take flight earlier - good distance as well!

You should go on to the BBC Scotland website and see some of the videos and photos. Its horrendous out there.

Dp is sleeping still and dd and I are having an early dinner while we still have power. A next town was without electricity this afternoon and so was the nearest village.

My windows are actually shaking!!

Oh and next doors fence in down the street the ast time I saw it...

I fear my roof is going to fall apart [worry]

SantaSHO · 08/12/2011 16:36

How are you now addicted??

Livened · 08/12/2011 16:51

Hello!

Been a bit AWOL for a few weeks while I finished at work and got my head around the fact the baby is due in 5 weeks time!

I'm sorting out my last minute bits and bobs and wondering what ratio of sleep suits/vests/cardigans etc everyone has?

I am also amazed as my good friend just had a baby 2 weeks ago at 8lbs 2 and she is tiny - I hadalways assumed 8lbs was quite big but the newborn sized stuff they have bought swamps her. I've bought lots of 0-3 months thinking that would be better value, but am now worried my babe will be drowned in some massive clothes unless go and get some newborn sized attire! What do you all think?

Hoping to have my hospital bag packed by the end of this weekend so am getting very excited about that. Baby is head down but on the right side which the midwife seems to think could be better if he was on the left - does this make such a big difference to about really? I've been juggling on all fours and on my birthing ball to get him on the left but am worried he's going tosomehow end up in breech - I think I'd rather just keep him where he is with head 3/5ths engaged.....

Hope everyone is ok and really enjoying reading everyones experiences on here - just panicking about the labour part now....

X

Fish i had a line last time but not this, both girls!

Feeling much better after a nap. Dh is about to go and get some eggs because im craving them!

Sho I saw your fb status, I hope your staying tucked up inside where its safe

Livened I'm taking 2 baby gros, 2 vests, 1 cardigan, 1 netural outfit (babygros are pink) all in size newborn. I don't plan on being in hospital longer than overnight.

hello livened-nice to hear from you. we have new stats list for the remaining active members now. We lost quite a few along the way.

Re the clothes, dd was 9lb10oz born and she was swamped by 0-3. But newborn did not fit her for long. I find certain brands huge, tesco, mothercare were massive but asda and M&S fit her better.

someone on here has a spreadsheet of variations in clothes sizes according to back length :)

Brownwolf · 08/12/2011 17:47

Hi everyone,
hugs to all of you having a hard time. The wind is getting up here in Leeds but doesn't sound as bad as some of you are having, maybe it is on it's way!

Just fell asleep to hypnobirthing cd again! maybe that will happen in labour, just put on the cd,fall asleep and wake up to a lovely baby? You think not? I thought it was a nice little fantasy!

I am officially bored of being pregnant now and am not even 36 weeks til saturday! I just want to meet the baby now and stop waddling everywhere!

My hands are really sore with carpel tunnel syndrome and feet are massive. Midwife says is normal tho and not to worry.

DeeOfTheNorth · 08/12/2011 17:56

I have one and my scan says I'm having a girl mulled.

Just had a look at the notes from my midwife - baby is ceph and 4/5 in relation to brim (which means its just started to engage - 1/5 in, 4 to go!) so everything looking good. Bump is measuring 37cm so a couple of cm ahead but midwife said that just means my placenta is efficient so baby is getting up to a good weight Shock - no indication of whether it might be late/early.

I was meant to be going out tonight just for a couple of hours for my team do at work however the wind up here is terrible. Had a couple of branches fly off and hit my living room windows (our garden does back onto a wood) so I'm staying put! Although given my current size there's no chance of me blowing away...Wink

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 08/12/2011 18:07

Oh god. I am craving gooey chocolate cake. Seriously - it's really bad. To the point where, despite being knackered, I am considering driving to waitrose to see if they have anything suitable (though what I really want is either the cake sold at a local cafe, now shut for the day or a Tesco Happy Birthday cake...)

FrillyMilly · 08/12/2011 18:23

I have got about 9 newborn sleepsuits and 9 newborn vests. DD was 6lb14 and the newborn swamped her. We had to go buy early baby vests to keep her cosy. I've just bought the cheapest newborn though from asda in case this one is a lot bigger! Make sure you pack some snacks and something to keep DH/P occupied. I was in labour at the hospital for 12 hours and DH ended up nipping to tesco for food and a book.

I'm in lancashire and it's horrible here. Not as bad some places but not nice enough to venture out. Wind is howling and the rain is really coming down. I think once DD is in bed I will have a cup of tea and the chocolate bar that's hidden out of her sight in the fridge. What a mean mummy I am!!

SantaSHO · 08/12/2011 18:26

brownwolf my friend has carpel tunnel syndrome as well. She was told it would clear up once baby is born. She's in real agony with it. Hope your coping ok x

Im team yellow this time, but last time I had a girl and never had a line.

That wind would surprise you dee, we went to dp's parents at lunch time when the wind was 'calm' and I nearly went over just walking in the driveway.

Dp is supposed to be starting work at 9pm, but they have just extended the No Drive Warning from 7pm to 9pm as the winds are stronger than they predicted. I bet he will still try to get in!

Good news is that we still have power unlike some of my friends elsewhere.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 08/12/2011 19:47

Sheesh shonno that weather sounds awful. It's not great here TBH. My bins have blown away across the village somewhere, i'll go hunting for them in the daylight. It's vile.

It's one of my closest freinds 40th tmorrow night and I have decided not to go. The original plan was fopr me to go til about 9.30 then come home and DH to go for the last bit because we never booked a sitter. But seriously I cant be arsed to get dressed up for and hour or 2 and my rib flare is always at it's worse in the evenings. Slack i am, but i know she'll understand.

I simply cannot stop sorting stuff out. I am nesting like a flippin nutter. I have sorted every "junk" drawer in the house this evening. mainly under my desk in the kitchen.

Honestly the "stuff" gets everywhere, I don't even know what half of it is. Medicines, tools, pens, bits of cables, phone chargers for phones we dont even own anymore. Tape, glue, labels, batteries, jewellery, make-up DD's hairbands and bits of toys! You name it we have it. It seems everywhere in this house. Do other people live like this? Anyway-it's all sorted, i have a drawer for stationary, tools have gone in the garage, a drawer for computer bits, the medicines have been put back in the bathroom cabinet. dd's hairbands and crappy plastic tat are now in her room. i even have a drawer for birthday cards, tape, scissors and wrapping paper. Feel the purge!

Mulledbee · 08/12/2011 19:51

Hello all, sorry for all the posts I'm bound to miss below, everything moves so fast and I only ever use my phone to update.

I went to the midwife today and I'm measuring 36 weeks so that's good. Baby is starting to engage too - I thought it felt different! all seems well, even though baby is still on the right side.

livened I think they say the right side isn't optimal as babies are meant to have their backs out (so by our tummy) but they often rotate clockwise. That could mean the baby goes back to back which can be more painful and result in an assisted birth. I'm trying to rotate mine now but they haven't moved position as long as I have been able to feel them. I've never felt them change position.

sho my parents power is back - hope the wind settles down for you soon.

Hope everyone else suffering from wind is safe and sound and cozy at home!

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 08/12/2011 19:53

sorry ladies, here i am again.

I am also driving DH mad. I am being a bit hectic. I can feel it but i cant stop! maybe it's still the coffee from this morning in my system, maybe it's the full moon approaching-i'm talking too fast, doing a million things at once and in a hurry. I have no reason to hurry. I have shit loads of energy yet knackered at the same time.

anyone know where my switch off button is please?

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 08/12/2011 19:54

Good work fish we have 2 drawers like that. I cleaned them out a couple of weeks ago. I need to clean out miscellaneous clothes drawers next to create space for baby's stuff.

Livened · 08/12/2011 20:14

Thanks for everyones advice - I'll keep up with the birth ball and floor scrubbing then to try and get him turned over to the left!

I'm already petrified of labour, not sure why but being on maternity leave gives me much more time to think about what's ahead...

Our pooch Bella has just been sick a few hours after I wormed her - hope she perks up soon else it will be a house full of miserable sods between her, me and my hubby.

On the bright side I won a Baby K Moses basket off eBay and got it and the stand for £35 - collecting it tomorrow so I can't wait to see it!

Hoping the weather is kind to everyone up north and people stay safe (as if we need any more reasons to snuggle up and eat choc!)

X

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 08/12/2011 20:15

fish - any signs of impending labour...?

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 08/12/2011 20:17

Not really cakes. I feel fine, babes is kicking well, no cramps, not even hb's.

SantaSHO · 08/12/2011 20:37

Think you should stay away from the coffee from now on fish Smile
We have a drawer like that in nearly every room I think. Always the first place to look when things are missing.

Dp has went to work. Only took him 10 mins longer than usual to get there which is quite good.
mulledbee glad your parents are back in the land of electricity and can enjoy the rest of their holiday here in Sunny Bonny Scotland Smile

My parents are currently in Manchester visiting family and are due home tommorrow. By the looks of the news the Borders have been getting it pretty bad as well, that and we now have a ice and snow warning for tommorrow as well. Im hoping they make it home ok tommorrow

On the plus side my windows have stopped shaking!! Smile

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 08/12/2011 20:43

sho i hope it's the coffee. I react really strongly to caffiene normally. I never ever drink it past midday and haven't today but i did have lot more than I would usually.

I should enjoy the energy :)

SantaSHO · 08/12/2011 20:50

Just becareful of the hangover tommorrow fish

Mulledbee · 08/12/2011 20:54

livened sorry, just realised how negative I might sound. They can turn round to the front from the right position according to my midwife and during labour they will rotate anyway so don't worry too much about it. I think we should just keep up the exercises so we're as prepared as possible!

Nanny01 · 08/12/2011 22:18

Wow crossing fingers for all you ladies up north with that weather. Will be heading up North tomorrow to a little place called Oakham for those who might know it near leicester. Hope the weather isn't to bad. I am really pleased with my self as I found the black dress and bought maternity tights and a flat pair of shoes for my Uncles funeral. The only downer is my mum and dad are traveling with us. She always wants to arrive 3 hours early and works every one up into unbearable moods as she can't control her anxiety.

I am not telling her about the fact that we might have to have a section as she can't control herself.

Fish I am the same now (nesting)to especially as they said they might admit me on the 14th. How long I wonder would it be between admitting me and a section. The thought of spending the whole of xmas in hospital does not thrill me. Dh has suddenly got sucked into an work emergency and is no longer talking about paternity leave but working from home. How on earth am I meant to manage 5 kids after a section and Christmas with mil and my parents to boot. Dh says I am worrying over nothing and Elliot will flip over but this little one seems to on the move all day.

knittiekitty · 09/12/2011 00:20

I haven't been up this late in ages - was so pleased to be invited to coffee tomorrow morning with one of the nice school mums, I thought I'd make my usually failsafe shortbread biscuits to take - even dug out star cutters to make them festive. Bloody stuff wouldn't bind so I've had to bung it into a tin, then it hasn't cooked in the middle. It's out now but looks miserable, so may turn up empty handed as don't have anything nice in the cupboards to raid otherwise GD management wouldn't have been possible. And I'll struggle to get up and sorted as should have been asleep hours ago. Why would Delia let me down, she never usually does. Xmas Sad
