Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

dream I know it's easier said than done, but you really don't need to worry about what anyone who is a non-expert thinks. It's only just over a week ago since you had your last scan and the scan has shown that your babies are healthy and the right size. No one can make a correct judgement just from looking at you at this stage on whether you'll make it to term or not.

Jen I've never heard of teasy either.

pomme DS moved from his cot to a junior bed earlier on this year. I was dreading it but miraculously he's never ventured out of it! Even in the morning when he wakes up he stays in bed and waits for one of us to go and get him. That doesn't help you obviously, how do you feel about putting a stairgate up at her bedroom door? We always do that anyway because we don't like the idea of him wandering around the landing in the dark. At least you'd then be able to put her back in bed before she climbs into yours. But it might test your patience somewhat if you have to keep getting up. Good luck for a better night tonight.

I fainted this morning. Was very scary. DH was outside up the ladder putting up some (tasteful) Christmas lights on the house. I think it was because I was standing at the bottom of the ladder looking up for a while. I just came over all funny. Luckily I knew what was going to happen and I had time to call DH down from the ladder and he managed to help me into the house before I collapsed. I felt a bit odd for an hour or so afterwards but seem to be ok now, if a little tired. I've googled and I don't think it's too much to worry about. I've felt the bean wriggling around since so I'm just going to take it easy for the rest of today. If it does happen again I'll get my blood pressure checked I think. Although I'm not too sure if it's a sign of low or high? Any ideas?

Wants3 · 11/12/2011 14:26

dream I am 17+3 ATM. I did find it hard to concentrate in the early weeks when I just wanted to sleep instead of study but I have the motivation of Christmas and a break to get me through. Next term will be interesting as I have an exam and a presentation in April ( baby due middle of May)!just about to have lunch, cooked by DH and DS1 and then I can get down to the last 1000 words:)

pommedenoel · 11/12/2011 15:19

scarlet - it's low blood pressure. Might be worth getting mw/gp to check it tomorrow if possible. If it goes below a certain point they like to get you on a drip. Stay hydrated!

dreamfeeder · 11/12/2011 15:20

low BP for fainting, high for headaches I thought, you poor thing scarlet. Scary indeed. have you ever fainted before?

pomme and scarlet I'm sure you're right about the comments- I think when it's someone in the supermarket I just assume you don't see that many pregnant people around (unless you want to be pg, and then they're everywhere of course!) and they don't know what they're on about, it's only because they're all medically trained and have had their own but they're still not the ones who routinely see you- only if there's a problem or you're ill you want more gaviscon and don't have a repeat prescription etc etc!!!

pomme, I don't know about the bed, but my friend put a stair gate at her little boys door too. However he stays in his bed and shouts for her, so thats no help really. Ha!! I am not the one to be giving any sleep advice!!!! although DD went to sleep in her cot by herself after a mere 20 min last night

eeek wants, exam at 36 weeks ish!? 30 plus a lot anyway.... My dh has an exam in april when we'll have new born twins and I'm dreading how he'll be able to study and get enough sleep etc to pass...

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 11/12/2011 15:48

Scarlet, how scary! How are you feeling now? I think you should get your MW to check you over. Not sure if low BP is a threat, but obviously fainting is not good and you don't want it happening at work or somewhere. Yay for bean wriggling - reassuring!

DH did our tree without me when I was at my sister's yesterday. I was not very pleased because I wanted to help pick the tree, but it does look lovely. I can still decorate the rest of the living room, anyway.

I have an idea that it is the law that your mat leave must start from, at latest, the day the baby is born (or the next working day if it's a weekend). It's okay for me because I can carry forward my annual leave - plan to carry forward about 20 days, if I can avoid taking any more days off!

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 11/12/2011 16:24

Thanks guys. I'm feeling absolutely normal again now. I have fainted a few times before, but this was the first time during this pregnancy. It happened twice when I was pregnant with DS but I didn't worry about anything when during that pregnancy so just ignored it and it hasn't happened at all since then.

I have had feelings of lightheadedness a lot the last couple of weeks and it does tend to be in the mornings. I think that perhaps I do need to drink more anyway pomme, I had no idea that it could be connected.

Dumbledore my understanding of mat leave and the lastest it can start from is the same as yours.

The rain is horrendous here, I'm so pleased DH manage to get the lights up this morning before it started. He's been putting it off for a fortnight so would have loved another excuse.

Biscuitsandtea · 11/12/2011 17:42

Gosh you poor thing Scarlet!! Hope you're still felling better. When's your next mw appt? Might be worth getting checked if it's not for a while?

Too they 99% sure they started my ML from the day after DS was born and he was born on a Monday so they must be allowed to do the day after?

JenFestive · 11/12/2011 17:50

Are you eating enough scarlet? Lightheadedness in the morning sounds like low blood sugar and/or low blood pressure to me.

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 11/12/2011 17:57

Possibly not Jen I don't really feel hungry for ages after I get up. If I try and force it too early I end up feeling sick so leave it. Today I finished 2 slices of toast literally just before going outside to prop up the ladder. This was about 10.15 and I'd been awake since 6.45. I'll try and eat a bit more a bit earlier and see if that makes any difference, as well as drink more.

Biscuits next MW appointment is a week on Tues, I'll see how I go tomorrow and if I still feel odd after making the above changes tomorrow I shall call and ask to bring my appointment forward to this Tuesday instead. She has said previously that she'd fit me in if I ever wanted to see her between appointments.

Feeling a bit silly now it seems that it's down to lack of eating or drinking. I do make up for it in the afternoons though Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 11/12/2011 19:35

Sounds like a wise plan if action Scarlet.

I am unreasonably irked this evening after texting a friend and receiving this response 'this isn't X's f@£/)&)(g phone'

A little abrupt? My friend has 2 nos and I rarely text her - usually email so she's obviously got rid of her non-work phone. Fair enough - my mistake, but really, I found the rudeness so frustrating! The last time I texted her on that no she responded so its not like I keep texting the same no or anything. I appreciate that maybe the number's new owner gets lots of texts for her? I don't know but still no need to be rude.

I don't like swearing much Sad

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 11/12/2011 20:00

I'd be annoyed at that a bit too Biscuits. Your friend really should let people know if she's not using a number anymore. Have you told her about it? Don't take it personally though, like you say, they may have had loads of texts for her from other people and just fed up. The swearing wasn't necessary obviously and I wouldn't have responded like that. Although I admit I do like a good swear now and again, Blush I'll have to remember to watch my language when we meet up again. I don't ever swear in front of children or my in-laws.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 11/12/2011 20:06

Oh well, maybe it's our work policy rather than the actual law, Biscuits! Can anyone remember when you get the MatB1 form? I had an idea that it's about 24/25 weeks - I know I got mine late last time because the MW was out of them and had to wait for a delivery.

That's a horrible text! Politeness doesn't cost anything, people! Bit of an overreaction, anyway - if I get texts that aren't for me, I just ignore them, not text back abuse. Weirdo.

Scarlet, hope your new eating plan works and you stop feeling light-headed. See what the MW says - she might be able to advise you over the phone if she can't fit you in early.

dreamfeeder · 11/12/2011 20:10

biscuits, I'd be a bit shaken by that too. Horrible way to answer. Why not leave out the f-ing and blinding?! I try not to swear much because it sounds so horrible when you hear it though i still have a problem not saying shit! plus there's swearing about a situation and swearing at someone. Rude person, clearly.

On the rant side, how f@!/&%$g (winks at biscuits) unfair is this- looks like dd, who was finally thinking about going to Sleep again, despite her still hacking cough, has chicken pox... Temp of 39, very spotty (though not typical blistering chicken pox ones yet) and even more clingy (!!!!). Sad poor baby, I'm getting the despair of when will she be well... Plus, I accidentally knocked her over today and she fell and bashed her head on the fireguard. Big bruise and kind of grazed. I feel very guilty...

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 11/12/2011 20:57

Oh Dream! Not Chicken pox as well! Your poor DD! I do hope it's not. Sad

Thank you for agreeing about the text Smile. And Scarlet - don't panic about swearing - I do swear sometimes too - just generally about a situation rather than at people. So it's not directed swearing. In fact I may have told DH, when he said we might have to have a washing machine for Christmas, that we were not having a f-ing wm for Christmas Wink....

But like you I never swear in front of children or my parents. So I'm not really too prudish about it but I don't like to hear people swear at others especially people they've never met via a text msg Smile

Anyway I feel much less irked now after a lovely roast and some gravy that I made myself that actually wasn't instant Xmas Smile

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 11/12/2011 21:07

Well done on the gravy Biscuits

dream Shock your poor DD. Let's hope all this illness now is building her a good strong immune system for when she's older. Very unfair though.

Biscuitsandtea · 11/12/2011 21:11

Gosh yes Scarlet - Dream's dd will have a super human immune system after this. She'll never be ill ever again! Just think Dream she'll never need a day off school. Ever!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 11/12/2011 21:33

Oh Dream, what terrible luck! I hope it's not chicken pox, but if it is, I hope it will be over very quickly and then she can recover properly.

Anyone else glued to Nickelbabe's live birth thread?

ScreamIfYouWantToMeetSanta · 11/12/2011 22:06

How unfair Dream! Your poor DD. I will be directing lots of No Brooking at the Dream household, your LO deserves a break! (As do you!)

Biscuits that text was completely unnecessary! I can imagine your shock as well when it came through. Poor you, just try to ignore unpleasant people like that.

I hope you've all had good weekends other than these probs?

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 11/12/2011 23:14

Dumbledore I just found the live birth thread and decided quickly that I wasn't going to get sucked in. Although I'm really tempted and it looks like fun over there. I'm just soooo tired and really need to get to bed, if I start reading I'll be up for hours waiting for the delivery of someone's baby who I don't even know Grin

dreamfeeder · 11/12/2011 23:19

That's a very positive way of looking at it, a cast iron immune system for little dd! Dh was muttering about not many papular rashes in children her age, so most likely the pox. It'll be awful when they blister, she's covered (if he's right and it is). At least when the twins arrive they can't all have it at same time. Twin one's being a bit quiet today, has moved, but making me nervous. And I just heard my grandpa's died. He was 93, and went into hospital 5 days ago with kidney failure but its sad he died there on a ward rather than at home, or a hospice or somewhere nicer. Plus he suffered for a couple of days and everyone cross they weren't getting him more comfortable.

Hope you feel ok tomorrow scarlet, oooh, homemade gravy biscuits, ashamed to say I wouldn't know how. too, I don't need any more threads to get addicted to! but might have to go n look now

Hello scream! Finish early, last time just for you ever for ages and don't feel guilty. After all, you're having Autumn at 36 weeks and all ;-)

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 11/12/2011 23:21

Right scarlet, you've convinced me, I'm not even looking for the live birth thread tonight!!! Sleep well.

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 12/12/2011 05:03

aw dream, poor DD! and sorry to hear about your grandpa. :(

i am joining the poorly small person club, just been up since 2 with DS. he woke up all upset and hot and bothered looking and couldn't be comforted/distracted at all. DH was thinking he'd just had a bad dream as 'it wasn't a real cry' he was doing. i kind of had a feeling though and managed to have a bowl ready at the appropriate moment for a wee puke. poor DS was not impressed, i was trying to explain to him to spit it out!

eventually got him face washed and calmed down a bit, thank goodness for cbeebies on my phone. had to sit through ITNG, Abney and Teal, Timmy Time and half a Something Special before he was settled enough to persuade back to bed! hoping it's a one off. at least I'm not at work today.

just need to get myself back to sleep now.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 06:35

Oh no Jaggy sorry to hear you've got a poorly small person too! But well done on having bowl ready - impressive skills!

Hope you all get some sleep xx

DS did a random puke at nursery on Friday and then was off colour for a few hours, so there just seems to be a load of that sort of thing around at the mo. Not nice at all Sad

Dream - don't be ^too* impressed with the gravy! I still used chicken stock granules as the base for it because I'd never manage to make my own stock or anything (and you wouldn't catch me boiling up chicken bones or owt like that), and it was the first time I'd made it. Went ok though, if I say so myself Wink. To be honest I only even tried it because I'm so hopeless that when I make instant gravy I still manage to make it lumpy Xmas Blush

Here's hoping all our small people are better today!

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 06:36

And really sorry to hear about your Grandpa too Dream Sad

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 06:41

And one last thing -Dream - if you're worried about twin 1 get yourself checked out. Remember what those doctors said!

Mind you I say that wondering if I should take my own advice as I didn't feel much from my bean yesterday - even for my normal 'not much going on' it was quiet in there....
