Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

yeah, I saw a toddler on one, way before I got pg again, and accosted the mum for her opinions of it!!! She'd tried a buggy board and had very varying compliance so changed for the bike. She said it was fabulos, though you have to stand slightly more to the side of your pushchair which is the same as a buggy board I think and a minor price to pay!!!

Now biscuits, you think you've got problems, my poor fanjo is really sore as soon as I stand up- just feels swollen and achey and sore, worst on my feet- from the second I get out of bed, not great sat down, ok lying down. Elephantine swollen already Sad Sad Blush and I dared have a look and I have varicose veins right near it causing all the pain and swelling- I even made DH look and confirm, even though it is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. So there you go, confession over.... But I think swelling due to the extra weight of your bump, plus the increased blood flow to uterus which pumps up a vein/ veins round there (so DH was saying, or something like that, I was too mortified by then to listen properly)

Now look, as we're on a new page I've forgotten what everyone else posted... hang on while I go back...

oh, hello pomme, no poo test yet, glad you and everyone being reassuring about the sad state of eating and sleeping affairs in my household. I do get the 'What am I doing wrong?!' panicks. especially as I nearly killed myself weaning her on Annabel-blooming-Karmel sweet potato leek and pea puree and other recipes I'd spend whole evenings cooking up, portioning off and freezing. I felt positively smug when she used to tuck into sprigs of broccoli with gusto. My how the worm has turned... It's been probably 6 months since a pure, unadulterated vegetable passed Her Majesty's lips.... I have resorted to blending them into a sauce with loads of chopped tomatoes,, smoothering with cheese and adding to pasta. If only she'd eat that now!!!! Hope you're ok. When's your next scan? It was 3 weeks from the last, I can remember that, but I've lost track of when your last was. It's probably coming up soon-ish? And I thought of you when I watched Britain's Biggest Babies the other evening, and the consultant was talking about growth scans and saying imagine trying to get a picture of someone, swimming in a bath, in the next room, then taking an abdominal circumference as best you can and trying to make an estimate of what they weight from that!!! As in, wildly inaccurate. I know that's not quite what they were saying from your last scan, but still, the fact it is so inaccurate is probably reassuring, especially as her head had grown well.

Hello all, just caught up on the last few pages and then promptly forgot who said what! I know lots of scans and appointments are happening so thinking of you all.
musical I think I have been feeling movements too although I wasn't expecting to because of position of placenta! It may have moved because something was definitely dancing the fandango just below my belly button!

jenfraggle · 30/11/2011 20:56

I'm on my phone and have a hopeless memory so have forgotten what everyone has said so just saying that I'm brooking left, right and centre here for everyone that needs it.

This pregnancy seems to be taking forever. I'm 15 weeks but it seems like much longer, not even halfway there yet! At least the sickness has stopped but I've developed something else to replace it. I've got nerve compression in my thigh and all I can do is put a hot water bottle on it. The muscle underneath is still rock solid and sore but the doc didn't seem interested in that. Got a mw appointment on tues so will mention it to her.

pommedechocolat · 30/11/2011 21:34

biscuits - a bit, yes, but I think I'm getting thrush so it's probably due to that.. sooo glamourous pregnancy...

Dream - thanks for the reassurance from the telly doctor, always good to hear medical people say that growth scans are a best guess. My next scan is next Friday at 27 plus 5. Looking forward to hearing all about your scan, so lovely that they get separate appointments - just how it should be. Have you decided to find out the sex of them definitely now?

scarletfingernail · 30/11/2011 21:39

Thank goodness one of you asked the fanjo question!

I was googling like mad the other day and am now convinced I have varicose veins in that area too! Although I've not dared have a look...
Mine hurts as soon as I stand up and when I walk. I'm aware of it when I'm sitting and it feels completely fine when I lie down. It's only in the right hand side though Blush

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 21:58

Yes, scarlet, mine's worse on the left, but I have it on both sides. Hurts as soon as I stand up- horrible feeling of pain and pressure. Mine are gruesome looking- but it was kind of a relief to see that yes, it is all horribly swollen, and there are big, twisty-looking veins (dh confirmed varicose), and I do have a reason to be so uncomfortable with it! I had awful thrush last time, which wouldn't go- I was on 2 pessaries a week and constant cream by the end... so I was worried it was that already- now I don't know which was worse, plus could have both in the end!!!! My dh claims they will go once we have delivered- he better be right!

Anyway, I'm off to continue the scan-worry. I mean, the scan No Brooking.... Twin 1 seems to have been much quieter movement-wise today, and I am worrying about there being a problem with one or both babies, or only one having a heartbeat etc etc etc. Yes, we will find out the sexes, hopefully. Not sure if we'll confess that we have to everyone, but I will let you know on here!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 30/11/2011 22:05

Oooh, I like that bike attachment thing too, although I currently have no need for it.

Jen, ouch! What would you normally do for nerve compression? Brooking that it goes away swiftly and without fanfare. I sympathise completely with the feeling like pregnancy takes forever - I can't take another 15-odd weeks of it! The MW said to me last Friday 'not long now', and I was like not long? Are you out of your mind, woman? I am 22+5, so that makes it roughly 14+2 weeks to go, which is more than 3 months. She did say that time would fly over Christmas. I hope it does!

Good luck for all the scans! I have forgotten who else is due one next week - mine is Thursday. Was it Scarlet and Musical also getting scanned on Thursday or am I mixing it up?

Dream and Biscuits, sympathies for the poo and wee exploits of your DC. I think you are both doing amazing jobs, with nursing sick children and toilet training respectively. Respect! I am barely managing to stay awake in the afternoons and I don't have toddlers to deal with.

Biscuitsandtea · 30/11/2011 22:13

Ooh, I'm sorry others have the fanjo issues (although I feel slightly less freakish?).

I don't dare look down there - I don't think I could deal with it. How would I know if it was thrush?

I'm starting to feel slightly whale-ish this last week or so. All of a sudden it seems that getting off the sofa etc is more of an issue. Not like at the end of my pg with DS, but you know how when you need to plan a little how you're going to manoeuvre from one position to another?

Dream I'll be lurking for scan news tomorrow. Good luck my lovely. Are you taking dd?

Hope all the other scanees are doing ok in the wait for Friday? And Musical hope your back isn't playing up any more?

Not many more kicks here since those the other night but I'm trying not to totally freak out worry too much. I have the mw next Thursday so will see what she says. I'm guessing since the Count the Kicks stuff and the chart in my notes say to start recording at 28 weeks that is probably the time that they would expect pretty much everyone to be feeling something? Although most people will have had it for many weeks before.

Biscuitsandtea · 30/11/2011 22:15
dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 22:15

scan wise as far as I can remember it's me tomorrow, scarlet and fishcake on Friday, and musicals consultant appointment re: her poor back, you next Thursday too and pomme next Friday!

I know, I only had 6 month old DD whem I saw the lady with the bike thing but I knew I wanted one for DC2 instead of a double buggy!!! Til the twins ahppened, so i'm very glad it's shelved Grin (fingers crossed, fingers crossed Brooking No Argument they're ok tomorrow). Twins are higher risk for Downs, congenital abnormalities etc etc. I don't think they're high high risk, just higher than singletons, so not having had any indication they're fine from nuchal scan as my stupid Trust is unable to do nuchal fold scanning means I've added that to my litany of worry!!!!!

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 30/11/2011 22:17

I know what you jean Too about feeling like there is still forever to go! DS came just before 37 weeks do that would leave me 14 weeks to go if this is the same. I think I'll be a bit Sad if I go too far over 37 weeks. You can all expect much much moaning on here if I'm still pg at 42 weeks.....

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 22:21

biscuits,I'm with you, out for the goodies!!!! The scan is 50 minutes from their appointment times, then a wait, then the consultant- DD would hate it, so she's staying with grandpa- she'll love that, she's besotted with her grandpa. I'd never looked befre- someone warned me never look after the third degree tear, so I didn't, and I don't think I've ever had the urge/need before... gruesome it was, gruesome!!! The difference with the thrush for me was I had more lumpy kind of discharge (though I always get quite a lot when pg- more than when not anyway) and it was itchy plus sore and swollen. I'd never really had thrush before, bar after taking antibiotics a couple of times, so was horrified. Plus, it's not something you can complain about to your RL friends- oh, my fanjo hurts, its swollen and I've got bad thrush... Blush Did mention it to a couple of friends by the end- one was signed off in her second pg for varicose veins in her fanjo, hurt her a lot to walk, and she'd had a baby... wouldn't have mentioned it to any squeamish child-less friends!!!

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 22:25

biscuits, I refuse to go past 38 weeks, as the NICE guidelines say for twin pg, even if my consultant initially mentioned she'd let me go to 39. Now, do I mention the fanjo issue to her? As well as the back pain, and bleeding a lot when pooing?!Nice. She'll dread me coming.... I think I'll mention the bleeding as I'm not taking the iron I was prescribed, as I'm struggling anyway, and would rather have blood tests and wait til I need it unless she insists. And need to remember to ask if I'm still meant to be taking my 5mg of folic acid that I finished yesterday... I need a list!! And yes, it's taking forever and a day...

OP posts:
TooImmature2BDumbledore · 30/11/2011 22:58

Right, had to go back to page 18 to find it, but it's Jaggy and Meconium who share the scan date with me next Thurs. Sorry for the mix-up!

Yes, I refuse to go past 37 weeks unless they say Bean isn't big enough and needs an extra week's growth. The last thing I want is her being raced off to NICU when she's born - I want her there with me so I can see for myself that she's okay. will probably not put her down for the first 3 months Someone told me that she and her DH kept picking their baby up even when it was sleeping for about the first month because they so wanted to hold it. I can see me and DH having epic fights about whose turn it is! I shall play the bf card a lot, I think.

Have just ruined DH's Christmas surprise for me Blush. I asked if he had bought me a bra, because if he hadn't, then I was going to buy one myself as am starting to grow out of my existing ones. He admitted he had, and then after a bit of discussion we decided it was better if I tried it on now to see if it fits, rather than wait til Christmas when it would be nearly past the 28 days for returning things. It is a Hot Milk black and lavender lacy nursing bra and it is gorgeous! It fits now, but suspect it may be too small when my milk comes in (it's a 34FF), so DH said I could have it now to wear and he'll buy me another one closer to the birth, when we have a better idea of sizes. So he is now going to have to buy me something else for Christmas...Grin

dreamfeeder · 30/11/2011 23:11

Oh, well done with the research on scans too!!

I rapidly got to the 'Put the baby DOWN while she sleeps' stage (like, by 3 or 4 weeks) as she then wouldn't sleep without being on you, far nicer of course to lie on someones chest and sleep (my DD still loves the Chest Frog sleeping!) which meant no sleep at all for me... First week I just wanted to hold her all the time- and played the bf card a lot in the first 3 months- works a treat!.

I don't know how exactly I'll refuse to go past 38 if the doctors want to let me continue Hmm hopefully won't be an issue, and she did say she'd see how I was doing nearer the time...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/12/2011 00:37

Just wanted to add in my No Brooking for all the scans/appts/results tom & fri. Good luck to all!

Everything's fine at my end, although my bump has hugely "popped" in the last week and all of a sudden everyone in my office is constantly staring at it!

Sorry to hear about all the sore fanjos! I haven't got that yet, but my stomach has shrunk to the size of a pea so I can't eat more than a mouthful without feeling painfully full, plus my intestines must be all scrunched up because I have the MOST embarrassing wind... Blush Overall though the 2nd tri is still a vast improvement on the 1st! Grin

p.s. I'm another person who's clueless with the car. I honestly think I've only filled it up once in the 2 years we've owned it, and that was so long ago I can't remember if it was petrol or diesel... Blush

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 09:18

Thanks scream! I also get full really quickly and wake up starving in the night!

My big fear when we buy an MPV that's most likely to be diesel is putting petrol in... I never had a diesel before. I regularly drive but couldn't change a tire, I think, and worse, can't remember when I last checked my tire pressures...

NinjaChipmunk · 01/12/2011 09:34

morning! Well apart from the odd wall of tiredness in the evenings, I now appear to have another symptom, which I also had when pg with ds. I can't brush my teeth without gagging. And I mean nearly vomming everytime my toothbrush goes near my molars. Not nice although I suppose thats nothing compared to what some of you have had.
We are possibly going to tell dp's parents when they come down next week about the bean although it will be a week before the 12 week scan. We would also tell ds as well. I'm actually feeling quite excited about telling them cos I get to tell my parents and my bro then too! How is everyone else today?

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 09:50

Ninja gagging while cleaning teeth has been my constant symptom throughout this pregnancy. I'm still as bad now as I was in the beginning. It makes me feel really sick for a good hour afterwards. Weirdly though, I have discovered that if I give my nose a good blow immediately before brushing my teeth it's not quite as bad, I'd be interested to know if it works for you? Also it's worse when I brush in the morning and not a problem in the evening.

It's so exciting when you get to that stage of letting the secret out, I bet you can't wait now.

NinjaChipmunk · 01/12/2011 10:02

I shall blow my nose as an experiment and let you know tomorrow! And yes strangely it does seem less of a problem in the evening.
I am really excited especially about telling ds but because we haven't had the scan yet I am really nervous too, just in case if you know what I mean. But really, dp's folks are around for 3 nights next week which means 3 meals out in restaurants in december and me not drinking, I think they would guess fairly quickly even if we didn't say anything!

tilder · 01/12/2011 12:01

Hello ladies. Apologies for radio silence - combination of being away and work. But the rate you guys move on the thread am going to struggle to keep up!

I have the gagging when brushing issue to, although seems to have been better over the last month or so (so I guess up to around 24 weeks?). Did lead to be having my teeth scraped for th first time ever at the dentist - nice - and apparently it is common in pregnancy (the gagging bit). I even got a demonstration on how to brush Grin.

Do hot milk do good breast feeding bras then? I dragged out the old grey saggy things (bras, not boobs, although tbo probably an accurate description all round at the moment Blush) from the loft and they are so depressing - why do bra manufacturers think I want to wear that? Pregnancy and breast feeding combined for me its nearly 2 years in those things.

GenericDietCola · 01/12/2011 12:11

Just popping on quickly at work to say a big thank you for the brooking - it must have worked because my serum hCG was nearly 15,000 on Monday (just found out today)! That's higher than the guidelines for 5 weeks, so now I'm wondering if I'm having twins too! Repeat blood test is on Monday and I've also asked my GP to chase up on the early scan they promised me.

Good luck all the scanees today and tomorrow. I am still brooking no argument for all of us to have healthy pregnancies and births and beautiful, bonny, bouncing babies!

Imps7 · 01/12/2011 12:25

Hurrah Generic! So pleased the result is good!
