Hi, I am five and and half weeks pregnant with baby number two. However I had MC last July at six weeks so very nervous as well as excited. I am due a six week scan on Friday to check if all is well so far. Because of this we haven't told anyone except my parents which is really hard as last time we told all the family but it was a strain listening to their attempts at sympathy when it when wrong. So here I am to announce to anyone that cares to listen that after six months I am pregnant again!! Yeah.

Hi everyone, back from working all weekend in Valencia. It's a trade fair we have to do every year but it was harder this one due to the fact I was so bloody tired!!!! I also didn't want to say anything to my colleagues just yet but it was difficult given that a) I didn't drink (I always enjoy a glass of Rioja & such like!) & b) didn't consume copious amounts of Jamon Serrano...which they couldn't quite get their heads around. I fobbed them off saying I just didn't fancy it but they kept on probing saying I never turn it down, what was the matter blah blah blah!!!!!

Welcome & congratulations Trinkett, KreamKrackers, Woodelf. Puppy & Mickus....hope I haven't forgotten anyone!

Compo, yes, really miss my wine!!!! Argghhhh How are you doing?

How you feeling now Mabel? I've got the yucky taste in my mouth & have to eat every couple of hours to keep slight nausea at bay. 5 + 4...if I recall correctly it was bang on 6 weeks the sickness kicked in with DD but I'm hoping it doesn't....it was bad enough on my own but to think of chucking up looking after a 16 month old doesn't fill me with joy!!!

OH...me 32, DH 33 (on Fri!)...DD 16 & half months...

puppy · 16/01/2006 10:33

dd has health problems due to chromosone deletion (called digeorge syndrome) but dp and me were tested and we're alright.

mabel1973 · 16/01/2006 12:20

Hi coriander - I'm feeling fine!!! had slight nausea fri eve but nothing since then - am beginning to worry that i'm not really pg and keep gettin the test out i did to look at it again! am I going mad???
Spent the weekend at friends who is also pg - about 3 weeks further on from me and she was chucking up constantly - felt like a fraud!!

congrats again to everyone who's recently had BFP'S

kreamkrackers · 16/01/2006 12:28

you're not mad! i did another test today just to watch the lines appear again!

mabel1973 · 16/01/2006 12:34

kreamkrackers - am tempted to pop to the chemists and get another one.....!

kreamkrackers · 16/01/2006 12:37

all i can say is it will says the same as before. i think it's all the excitment of being pg yet having nothing at the moment to show for it apart from a couple of lines on a stick!

homemama · 16/01/2006 15:24

Saw the mw today as I insisted on seeing her before 12wks.
She said I have to decide on which hospital before seeing her again. It's difficult as I don't know the area yet so I'm going to have to do some research now. Does anyone know a website where I can check intervention rates etc? Thanks

homemama you need to go on birthchoiceUK (sorry can't do links yet). It gives you all the statistics for every maternity unit in the uk, such as how many normal births, how many had intervention i.e. ventouse etc)
I had that problem last time with DS and was advised to use this website by my aunt (she is a nurse and the midwives in her practice reccommended it). However saying that I went to a hospital which looked good on paper, but it was one particular midwife that spoilt it for me, but then you can't account for that can you?!

Hi everyone. Welcome to all new recruits, congratulations! I'm so glad there are a couple of you that are mid-thirties like me. I was getting sa bit worried that I was the old codger of the group at 35 {mydh is 40 this yr v. depressed about it}. I am also only getting a few symptoms, sore boobs and slight nausea. I am only about 6wks though and I remember with dd I was sick much later on.

Coriander73 · 17/01/2006 08:13

Congrats KateJane & Curlygirl...

Well I feel old when I keep seeing people pop up saying they are in their early twenties!!! I'm 32 DH 33, DD 16 months.

I'm nearly 6 weeks & today woke up feeling quite queasy....DH keeps telling me to work through it & stop making it worse...i.e he thinks that by thinking about it I'm bringing it on....arrghhhhh

curlygirl · 17/01/2006 08:20

I'm a bit concerned as many of you are having early scans and blood tests. I have had two previous early miscarriages and hadn't even thought about it, I was just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Are the tests just for reassurance or can they actually do anything to maintain the pregnancy? I think I would be a bit worried about doing this also because I always think that if I miscarried it was because there was something wrong with the baby and it was natures way of dealing with that. Any advice anyone. Should I be contacting the EPAU?

puppy · 17/01/2006 09:59

congratulations katiejane

Curlygirl I'm having a scan because I had some slight spotting on sunday and a week before that, if your wanting a early scan it wouldn't hurt to ask but try not to worry

My symptoms are getting stronger, I felt really nauseous (sp?) sore chest and this horrible taste in mouth and tiredness.

my stats are me 30 at the end of feb, dh 42, DS 4 in a few weeks and I also have a dsd 16yrs who lives with us full time

Has anybody told friends and family yet? onlt dh, my mum and step dad and also dsd knows, not sure wheb to tell everybody else

Micku5 · 17/01/2006 10:11

Morning all....

Puppy in answer to your questions... We've only told our imediate family and two of our closest friends as they know we've been trying. We'll probably tell other friends and family after the first trimester or when I begin to show (which ever comes first )

I don't know about anyone else but I have started to go off meat. Couldn't face eating a chilli, roast chicken or even the pizza we had yesterday. I think I will have to start looking at veggie options otherwise I will be living on toast and porridge.

Micku5 · 17/01/2006 10:12

btw congratulations katiejane and curlygirl

katiejane68 · 17/01/2006 10:21

Thanks to all for welcoming me. I'm very excited about this. I am 37 (!), DH is 40 (!!) don't like seeing my age in print , also my DS is 4 and a half. Since starting school he goes on non-stop about having a baby brother or sister, I guess as he's realised most of his classmates have them. I am dying to tell him, but I feel it's a bit too early yet. Only told parents, and one friend so far. I think I'm about 6-7 weeks, but already starting to show, so won't be able to keep it a secret for long. Am going to Doctors this Friday to request an early scan as I have a history of endometriosis and high risk of eptopic preganancy.
Congratulations to everyone else, may we all have healthy pregnancies!

Elderly ha! You're only as old as you feel and I still wonder where the hell my thirties have gone. I'm happy being an older mum I feel ready for this. I wasn't exactly ready for my first and I was 32 then! I guess individual circumstances control when we are going to become mum's, and mine meant now, although I have been married for 15 years! We just never got around to it before then.
