Hi, I am five and and half weeks pregnant with baby number two. However I had MC last July at six weeks so very nervous as well as excited. I am due a six week scan on Friday to check if all is well so far. Because of this we haven't told anyone except my parents which is really hard as last time we told all the family but it was a strain listening to their attempts at sympathy when it when wrong. So here I am to announce to anyone that cares to listen that after six months I am pregnant again!! Yeah.

HellKat, hope all is well with you. I din't get sick with my dd's at all (well maybe a tiny bit in the car) but this one had me for a few weeks and now i'm starting to feel more human. I have a stinking cold today though, my Mam ,bless her has taken dd2 (11 months) and i don't pick her up till 2.30 when i get dd1 from School so i'm going to go have a bath. HEAVEN!
sabrinaandjayden, why don't you post it on here under it's own heading as people just know lots about lots on here. It's always my first port of call

intergalacticwalrus · 24/01/2006 11:23

Hello, can I join??? I did a test and I got a faint positive, so I am guessing that I am probably due sometime in September, although I haven't the foggiest as I have only had one period sice DS was born 13 months ago! Have you all been to your GPs yet? I went last time, when pg with DS, and it was a waste of time. Is there anyway to get in with the midwife without going through your GP????

katiejane68 · 24/01/2006 11:24

hi hellkat, welcome to the club! Still feeling better on just the tiny folic acid pills rather than the huge multi vitamin things. Already been maternity clothes shopping. I don't fit into much already. With you on the boobs thing too hellkat I am normally ample, this is just silly - could give Jordan a run for her money!

compo · 24/01/2006 11:51

welcome to all the newcomers. I had to see my gp first who sent a form to the hospital so the community midwives could get in touch (which they haven't as yet). Feeling really sick now. Only way to keep it at bay is to eat all the time!!

kreamkrackers · 24/01/2006 12:02

i phoned my doctors and told them i needed a booking in appointment with the mv. the receptionist asked for my lmp and if it was a home test or doctors test. i then got a letter through the post telling me my appointment date and time.

mabel1973 · 24/01/2006 12:35

congratulation intergalacticwalrus!!

with DS i didn't need to see the GP, just phoned the doctors and they got the midwife to contact me. This time though (diff health authority) I rang the docs and they told me I had to see the GP first, so I assume it depends on your doctors. However saying that when I did see the GP he said it wasn't strictly necessary and I ended up contacting the midwife myself - maybe if you call and ask for the midwifes number you might be able to go direct and cut out the GP?

FirstNikki · 24/01/2006 12:44

just popping in...congratulations intergalacticwalrus I have spoken to you before on sw thread

benjaminsmum · 24/01/2006 14:28

Hi all. Long time no speak. I have just slept every time my ds is asleep so no time to get online, pathetic really! Congrats to all newcomers. Julie if you are still reading I am so very sorry. As for eating lots I have just eaten a large bar of choclate whilst catching up on everyones news. Still feeling quite sick and been sick a couple of times.
However I am not even stlightly showing yet but I am putting this down to be to tubby uin the first place. I also have the advantage that having just lost a stone and a half my jeans are all far too loose and only stay done up with a belt so I am hoping they will last a while this time as last time I was already in maternity jeans.
For some reason I have got a letter offering me an appointment for a scan on Thursday, and I am not asking why just turning up gratefully. It will be good to see if it looks anything like a baby yet, at six weeks it was a worm! Does anyone know if they do internal or external scans at nearly nine weeks?

sorry crashing again, Normsnockers any chemist will do them on their own (small) for around £1 asda do them for around £1.25. hope this helps and stops you feeling so sick.

mabel1973 · 24/01/2006 15:35

normsnockers I have got some tiny folic acid tablets they are made by solgar. Think they came from holland and barratt, but i think you can get them most health shops or on line

HellKat · 24/01/2006 15:44

I found the cheapest folic acid tabs (small ones) were from Savers & Wilkos's (roughly 89p) or Poundland does them for a quid.
Got next scan booked for 10th Feb (will be 9wks) and mw 6th Feb. Getting quite excited now.

Oh yeah, am I the only sick, twisted woman that loves labour & childbirth?

compo · 24/01/2006 15:50

You love labour and childbirth?!!! I had an epidural and about 3 cylinders of gas and air last time so don't remember it very well but I do remember the contractions - ow ow ow, and throwing up everywhere before, during and after!!

mabel1973 · 24/01/2006 16:01

yes you are sick and twisted

homemama · 24/01/2006 16:34

I'm feeling a little worried today as I'm not feeling as sick. This didn't happen last time and by 7wks DH was leaving me a bedpan alongwith my bucket when he went to work (I'm only 6wks at the mo)

Just going to try and relax and not worry. Wish either my mother or MIL was at home to take DS. Unfortunately they are both very high powered career women (solicitor+headteacher) and neither look like giving it up soon so I await the temp nanny next week.

Hope everyone is coping/blooming etc

HellKat · 24/01/2006 16:43

yep guess I'm twisted.

Home- I'm sure there's nothing wrong, maybe this pg's decided to be kinder on you?

mabel1973 · 24/01/2006 18:05

homemama each pg is different and i didn't start with nausea til i was 7 weeks, so don't worry yourself too much x

Hi everyone, I've just fallen down the stairs and landed really hard on my bum. I'm now terrified for my beanie, do you think he could have been hurt?

homemama · 24/01/2006 19:56

Calvemjoe, I'm sure beanie's fine, but you may have a sore bum in the morning!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Norms, I'm not getting too excited until 20wks without sickness!

Angeliz · 24/01/2006 20:09

calvemjoe, i'm sure the baby is o.k but you really should stay off the Vodka this early as it's not recomended

HellKat, no i'm wierd too.
There was a thread once called 'what do you wish you were doing now?' or something and i said giving Birth. I have had 2 very painful very quick labours and there's no high like it.

homemama, hope you're reassured buy the other comments, i'm hoping the chronic months of agonising heartburn might pass me by this time (but i do have very hairy babies!!!)

katiejane68 · 24/01/2006 20:10

norms I got my tiny folic acid from Tesco, they are much better to deal with than the huge multi vitamin. I am just regreting spending so much on them, oh well.

Homemama try not to worry so much - I must admit I was the same Friday felt great all day and it worried me, but it came back.

Hellkat - you like labour - I've only done it the once so far and I don't have good memories of it!

calvejoe - gosh hope you are alright after your fall.

puppy · 24/01/2006 22:07

Homemama Hope you not worrying too much about your lack of sickness

Calvemjoe, your beanie is well protected in there, I'm sure it will be fine.

Hellkat my last labour was a very good experience for me and was not put off atall, saying that I didn't feel a thing as I had a epidural my thoughts at the time was why be in pain if you don't have to be lol, ok I'm a wuss .

A GP rang today with my blood test result as the one saw is on a/l for 2wks, she said it was 1200 and something and wants me to go for another tomorrow to check the beta hcg is doubling, I have told her again all my info and she says it all sounds like a normal pregnancy and that many women have the odd bit of spotting. She wants me to ring her in a couple of days to discuss next results. I am feeling more relaxed about things.
