Stupid DH cakes lol, he really should know better!
What an absolutely wonderful gift from your mum!! I would really like tht....no chance from my mum though Hmm

ParsleyLion1 · 15/11/2011 13:08

My OH calls me grumpy as a matter of course - if he doesn't refer to me as grumps then I'm "fatty" Hmm

I've noticed that he calls me grumpy more when he is grumpy himself - even when I'm in a good mood. I reckon it could be deflection..

Poor baby may end up being called grumpyetta or baby grumps if he has his way

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 13:09

I know, I was really touched. Oh well, it was just a little pot from Sainsbury's - treat yourself to it!

Good present for an expectant woman I think. Will bear it in mind for future friends.

redheadbedhead · 15/11/2011 13:12

makes you should pimp out your mum and lend her to some of us for a bit, especially Oeisha!! we all need a bit of that kind of mothering in our lives at the moment!

you'll all be pleased to know that, like trubble, I was actually too freaked out by the adult babygros to go the whole way and buy one. I totally aborted the mission. BUT... if any of you are planning on slobbing around with your baby for months and months on the sofa like me, get down to Primark and bag some cosy pyjamas, they're SO CHEAP AND NICE. And there's fleece, flannel and cotton to choose from so you can get whatever you like best.

and i got some mahoosive pants like makes suggested for the delicate post-birth weeks...

unfortunately I am not being paid by Primark to big them up. Just unnaturally excited about cosying up in pyjamas with my baby all of a sudden Grin

redheadbedhead · 15/11/2011 13:14

parsley my OH also calls me fatty, and even better, my FIL calls me Tubs. Nice.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 13:18

Aww, just had a call from ym Godmother asking how I was. Telling me if I was happy or sad or needed a chat I was welcome to call her any time - I nearly burst into tears. Stupid bloody hormones. Come on Tesco delivery man, I obviously need my Smarties more urgently than I thoguht.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 13:21

red - she is rather wonderful, and programmed to look after me due to some years of bad health in my early twenties. When she comes to visit me she brings rubber gloves because she can;t help herself from cleaning my flat. Even if I've cleaned it she'll do those extraneous jobs like wiping down windowsills - if I didn't know it was her way of showing love I'd be offended at the implied criticism of my housekeeping! :)

I'll let her know she's in demand as a rent-a-mum :)

I decided against pyjamas due to possible leakage issues or rubbing, hope I don;t get chilly legs, but I may just have to surgically attach the duvet to myself.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 13:23

Dh calls me his little guppy and his little whale. Also Blossom the breeding sow and, soon, Daisy (figure it out). For some reason I always find these funny or endearing and only pretend to get cross because it's expected of me.

Ah jeez, I really need to go do something useful instead of arsing around on here.

redheadbedhead · 15/11/2011 13:32

Blossom the breeding sow!!! Grin

fishandlilacs · 15/11/2011 13:43

Afternoon.

Oiesha-OH my goodness tell your mother to stick it up her arse, instead of nit picking she should be helping and I think youre quite within you're rights to say so. She sounds just like my mother used to, but a huge row put pay to all that, shes nothing but encouraging these days.

" Mum, I really don't appreciate the criticism, how about mucking in a bit and helping me out"

Also you can tell her that my HV said she hated seeing immaculate houses for mums of newborns because it meant that they were either A: not spending enough time on baby and putting undue pressure on themselves or B: wouldn't cope once children get messy with toys and things as they get older.

addicted i'd love to get together PM me and we'll plan something. How many weeks til you break up from work? I haven't sorted by mat pay out yet-still waiting for an SMP1 form back from the council.

Guess what-I never got an OFSTED visit! Pheweeeeee

Guess what else..My friends had her baby boy last night at 7.10pm he was 9lb 2oz, safe natural birth, no stitches, baby feeding fine and she was home again by midnight. No name yet but being called Buddy as a NN. She has been an inspiration, I really hope for a birth like that!

I'm beginning to feel like I can relax a little now-i never realised how tense i was about ofsted-I was so scared of walking in that door today to see some official- but LO there were none!

ParsleyLion1 · 15/11/2011 13:49

Ha Blossom the breeding sow and Daisy - love it Grin

That's great news fish I bet you physically felt the weight lift from your shoulders!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 14:44

fish I can send you a link to that form if you want to print it off so you can get it sent off soon as?

fishandlilacs · 15/11/2011 15:05

cakes Thank you but it's got to come from my employers all filled in though-they should be on to it but i'm not hassling them with the ofsted going on-i'm sure they have enough to do this week.

Fryn · 15/11/2011 16:05

Afternoon all!

cakes I like the sound of your mum. Like everyone else, I'd like her even more if she came round in her Marigolds and did my window sills (not sure I even realised one needed to clean window sills!)

parsley - yep, another fatty here too! These menfolk need to start coming up with some better nicknames for us.

fish good news all round then! Your friend's birth sounds great - fingers crossed we all have that.

red - a small sigh of relief may have passed my lips as I realised you hadn't gone down the onesie route!

oiesha - as everyone's said, tell her to pull her finger out and help rather than moaning at you!

green - red and I are both in Walthamstow. Whereabouts are you?

I couldn't be less motivated today. I wish the admin fairy would come and sort out the pile of dull crap I have on my desk. And it doesn't help that both my colleagues are making huge sales and I can't sell a darned thing at the moment. Sigh. Ah well, only a few more weeks then my mat cover will have to deal with my completely unachievable budget and I won't care!

Capybara · 15/11/2011 16:38

Snap, Parsley and Red - I'm Fatty too :) Or alternatively Bessy Glass (?! - obscure Salinger ref. which has something to do with my appearance in a dressing gown)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 17:17

Bloody hell, Tesco man arrived half an hour early - yay for Smarties and satsumas

I am so proud of myself - my play mat is (FINALLY) nearly finished now - just need to slip stitch the binding down on the front and it's done! Yay me. Can't believe I'm actually getting on with all these baby UFOs - I could have sworn he'd be celebrating his 18th birthday and they'd still be languishing in my sewing/knitting baskets! Guess the rigid and possibly early deadline was enough of a cattle prod for me!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 17:59

Dh is on his hands and knees in pants and a t-shirt scrubbing the grouting on the bathroom floor with a toothbrush. I thought I was the one who was supposed to be nesting Hmm

Still not as good as the time I caught him mopping the kitchen floor topless in a cowboy hat singing 'Rawhide'...

ParsleyLion1 · 15/11/2011 18:17

Ha ha ha:o

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 18:21

I should have taken photos - noone who knows him would ever believe me

GiraffeAHolic · 15/11/2011 18:44

Evening all.

Oeisha this is precisely why I keep "forgetting" to invite dh's grandparents over, last time she asked where the broom was and started sweeping the hallway Hmm

We actually went city shopping today :) We have decided on the ICandy Peach (probably in tomato colour) after much experimenting in John Lewis but going to our local stockist to order it as she's offering a free maxi-cosi car seat and should offer a discount too.

Got some terry cotton moses basket sheets, a top and tail bowl (I know, I know, you lot don't like them Grin) maternity pads and breast pads and some bodysuits - from Primark ironically, lovely colours while still being gender neutral. I was so scared by the adult babygros in primark I decided to get my jamas in Peacocks!

If anyone is looking for official Gro-bags, TK Maxx had loads today in various sizes/styles reduced to around £14.99 each. Bargain.

Trying to stick to the optimal feotal positions that someone linked too, but really struggling. My normal sitting position involves my feet tucked under me which apparently isn't good.

If you want to smile this might help!

ParsleyLion1 · 15/11/2011 19:10

Ha ha :o thanks for that addicted it may well be true.....

fishandlilacs · 15/11/2011 21:38

anyone about? I need to ask a slightly tmi question Re constipation.

I hbave been trying to "pass a motion" all evening, after 3 attempts I have managed it with some significant straining. Very hard stools. I was worried I was going to seriously give birth!

Now my lady bits are really hurting me-hot burning sensation in my undercarriage like I have been having too much/too dry sex (ha, chance would be a fine thing) Anyone else had this?

Thing is I have bran meusli everyday, I have been drinking gallons of water and been eating plums and apples by the punnet, theres little else I can do is there?

mummyzoe2012 · 15/11/2011 21:44
