Sorry for the new thread and crap name but i needed to start one oi how are you doing good luck xxx

I have fallen off the face of MN for a week or so and have loadsss to catch up on! I have been busy doing coursework and seriously nesting!!

PGP is awful, to the point of making me cry, finally got a pyshio app, but not for another 2 weeks :( doesnt seem much point. OH continues not to even attempt a massage if i ask and rolls his eyes.

Been having really bad shooting pains that take my breath away, but seems as though baby is head down (and very low) im guessing its a nerve he is on.

Very strange and TMI... but earlier (when i went to the toilet) i could feel what felt like the head bulging on the outside, through my lady garden lol... freaked me out!!

Good luck oi !! Fingers crossed

tye glad you took the sick advice!!

awch I'm gonna get me Dyson!! I was going to wait until we had a new house, but now i know i need one now. Grin

fusam · 15/11/2011 17:29

Tyel I have the wrap, ring and mai tai slings. I like the wrap sling for the early days, the ring for the middling 3 to 7 ish months and mai tai for the older babies. I used the mai tai until DD was about 2. Tbh, I could just live between the wrap and mai tai. Now can you help me please? You mentioned you were having Thanksgiving meal? Are you eating out or cooking and can you pass on recipes or recommendations for places to eat? I have a recipe for corn bread but I am a bit stumped for what else to put on the menu. Sorry for the grilling, I have volunteered to do a thanksgiving meal for a few friends but now am in a flap. Might try to find a restaurant that will do something decent instead.

msbuggywinkle · 15/11/2011 17:48

fusam I have exactly the same sling selection as you! I use them slightly differently though, wrap for newborns, mei tai for up to 2 ish then ring sling for quick up and downs post 2!

hawthers · 15/11/2011 17:59

am completely lost when it comes to slings - we borrowed a baby bjorn with DS which we hardly used as it made my back hurt and DS was in 'quarantine' until the winter was over and then he was pretty happy in the pushchair.

think it would be helpful with DC2 but get paralysed by the choice available and DH wants something slightly manly! hmm will have to get my very shy self across to a slingmeet and force myself to meet some other mums to get some top tips

sevensevenseven · 15/11/2011 18:07

Are we on a mission to need a new thread by bedtime?

I have a sleepy wrap ( like a moby) which feels really comfy and is easy enough to put on and off. Not sure about getting the baby in and out though, I may have been a bit rough with the teddy bear!

BluebellsintheSpring · 15/11/2011 18:28

Thanks for all the Epi-No advice - v useful; will def give it a try.

Personally I'm a fan of Oi's suggestions - might put that into my birth plan! If only....

DarciesmumandBump2 · 15/11/2011 18:42

Not sure what sling I have but feels comfy so thats all that matters right?

Babys headbutting me so cramps intensifying again :( MW & HV tomorrow tho. feel quite nauseous too.

LittleMissFlustered · 15/11/2011 18:59

Not got midwife for weeks. Got CBT tomorrow though >_<

Picking up the crib in the afternoon. Lady I'm buying it from says it has bedding with it. Not sure if she means the bumper stuff that you can't ever use, or something useful. Can but wonder. I will report back, obviously. These inane things become very important when you are suffering insomna after a whileWink

DarciesmumandBump2 · 15/11/2011 19:04

LMF That's nice that bedding/bumper sets come included :)

I loved boot sales in the summer for picking up things like that - I love a bargain :)

aethelfleda · 15/11/2011 19:20

I recommend checking the mobywrap site- it's one of the cheapest makes of wrap sling ( at £36-£40 ish it's half the price of a hug-a-bub!) and comes in some lovely colours....)

mobywrap on offer here

figgygal · 15/11/2011 19:23

New thread new thread new thread!!!

LittleMissFlustered · 15/11/2011 19:33

Darcies A bumper is pointless in a crib! They're not recommended for use for infants under a year. A crib will last for between four and six months in most casesWink They're made just to make empty cribs look purty:o

LittleMissFlustered · 15/11/2011 19:35

And yes figgy we need a new thread:o

We need to take over the universe keep up the morale boosting chatWink

DarciesmumandBump2 · 15/11/2011 19:38

LMF Ahh just as well that we've got a cot bed then lol Grin

aethelfleda · 15/11/2011 19:57

well, go on, someone start a new thread then!

I'm getting kicked rotten tonight. Am torn between tidying my pit of a front room and slouching on the sofa/birth ball with a book. but slouching makes the heartburn worse.... Hmmm..... Time for another yoghurt lassi!

mopsytop · 15/11/2011 20:00

what's the consensus on the new title then?

KateM77 · 15/11/2011 20:02

Go on LMF start a new thread with your Sir Mixalot name

My Dad came to visit today and we had a nice liiunch in the village pub. DD now in bed and DH is out playing squash, so it's an evening of mindless TV and reading Heat magazine ahead for me. First evening in ages I've actually put my feet up rather than cooking batches of food for DD, building furniture or doing housework. Still got loads to do but feel like I've earned a rest!

Might take DD to the soft play and bouncy castle session again tomorrow. Will see how energetic I feel

DarciesmumandBump2 · 15/11/2011 20:06

I have to go into work tomorrow to complete my handover and then that's officially it.

figgygal · 15/11/2011 20:15

I'm being kicked lots tonight too have been all day think have overdosed him on sugar today bad me!!

plupervert · 15/11/2011 20:19

How are things going, cheeptrick? You sound a bit more cheerful. (and once your baby is born, you can be cheepandcheerful)

In your notes, sorelip Confused Was it in "medical handwriting"?

Mmmcheese? - home yet?

Ahhh, hawthers, have a lucozade biscuit and do some posturing.... please?

Bluebells, just reading what your midwife said about the baby's position, could she have been telling you that the baby wasn't i the dreaded "back-to-back" position (i.e. spine to your spine, so hard to get out of the pelvis)? Medical people don't always realise that we can't interpret what they are saying.

All this perineal massage stuff had started to scare me... until I got to the South Park ping-pong ball comparison, and Grin. Good thing I have at least been doing my pelvic floor exercises, eh?

With regard to slings, we have a Chicco one, which I've cinched up for a newborn (it's got a head hugger, but baby can be turned around and the head bit folded down. I think it fits a child for longer than a BabyBjorn, which always looked v small to me. also, we wear the straps diagonally crossed, meaning it will fit even DH's permanently pregnant frame), and an ergobaby. The ergobaby is very comfortable for an older child, but as the other one is quite nice for a newborn, I'm not going to get the newborn insert for the eb - can't be bothered. I;m not the sort of person who would have the patience to manage a windy/stretchy sling (and DH would never bother learning), so straps are the way for us. I did try the Mothercare sling at one point, but it was a strap nightmare, and very uncomfortable, so took it back without even putting DS in it. Hope that helps? (P.S. I'm 5'10" and fairly robust, so keep that in mind when evaluating how these things might fit you)

msbuggywinkle · 15/11/2011 20:19

figgy I get kicked a lot when I've had sugar too!

aethel birth ball with a book! I'm in bed because my back is hurting (I'm not hiding from tidying nooooo not me!)

It is bloody freezing tonight, I'm going to need to start giving the chickens a hot water bottle soon!

OiMissus · 15/11/2011 20:38

Ovens are also good at keeping chickens warm.Grin

(very sorry! I'm in a mischievous mood this evening. Shall put myself on a naughty step.)
I have bought a Lifft sling. It appealed to me because youjust put it over your shoulder and go. I'm lazy. No tying/wrapping/messing involved. We'll see how we get on.

LittleMissFlustered · 15/11/2011 20:38

Ta da!

:o
