ellybett I'd be fuming. It's not her news to tell.

DP is home. 5 weeks of being able to rest. Grin

ellybett · 21/11/2011 19:49

Thanks Boris ! I admit to a certain extent it's self-inflicted as we could have kept it to ourselves but once we told my P-I-L's and my niece it sort of inevitably all leaked out (we're that sort of family) and I know it's only because they're pleased for us and we were excited too. I've always been a rubbish secret keeper and this one was a whopper! Problem is one of the girls who's emailed me congratulations is someone I really could have done with not knowing as I most certainly wouldn't call her a friend, and she's the sister of DP's best man who has turned into a really terrible friend since the birth of DD. Oh well. Not much we can do about it now. Have sent her an email saying I didn't intend on broadcasting to non-family people and I'd appreciate her discretion until later down the line.
I have alot of admiration for all of you who are staying schtum. Wish I had your self-restraint!

ellybett · 21/11/2011 19:50

X-post. Kayzr you definitely are owed a substantial amount of feet up time! Get him to work!

Florin · 21/11/2011 20:55

kayzr enjoy being pampered by your dh, you deserve it!
My mum has booked me in for a facial tomorrow-I can't wait!

thedogwalker · 21/11/2011 20:59

Bird I chased up my scan appointment by ringing direct to the hospital, I explained to them that I didn't want to change a date or influence a date, that I just wanted to know the date, so that I could organise my work aorund it, they were brill and told me my date and time over the phone. 3 weeks today, feels like ages away but at least I've now got something to look forward to. Hope you get yours soon x
Elly I would be furious, it's nobody elses job to spread the good news, My Mum is bad at doing that and I have to remind her to keep quiet. With DS1, I didn't tell the family until after we'd got the results from the Nuchal tests and scan at 18 weeks and I don't plan on telling them this time until after those results.
Hope everyone has had a great day, take care xx

Dalrymps · 21/11/2011 21:03

Evening ladiesSmile

I'm getting close to my 12wk scan now, wed aft! Am of course afraid there will be nothing there or some sort of problem with the baby. Must block all negative thoughts.

Still feeling sick more often than not but dh is on holiday this week so he's helping with the boys which helpsSmile

Ds1 had a temp this evening and was saying he felt sick. He perked up after some nurofen but was still hot when he went to bed. There's a sickness bug going around. Crossing my fingers and toes he fights it off quickly..

Kveta · 21/11/2011 21:04

elly how infuriating. my parents did that with DS, so this time we told them with the attitude that everyone would know by the end of the day, so we weren't disappointed! I just need to tell my boss, then will be making it public I think, as I am shit at secret keeping!

is anyone else feeling sicker than they were? I have had the most hideous nausea all day, and nothing is quelling it. I am incredibly gassy and constipated too, sigh. not enjoying pregnancy yet at all.

ecstatica · 21/11/2011 21:23

Happy Alert -- please, please can I share my news :)
Had ultrasound today to detect gallstones in bile duct and the lovely, lovely sonographer asked if i'd like to have a quick peek at the baby....so we did. And there he was, wriggling and moving feet and hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10w+3....it was really lovely and a huge surprise, haven't had a date for my scan yet so a huge bonus. Thanks, really wanted to share!!!!

Sorry to hear about insensitive family members :( K -- your self restraint is admirable, I would not be responsible for my actions if ANY family member spoke to me or my DC like that and they know it! Some people just don't get it but you are better than that, you were able to keep quiet and hold your head up, so good for you!

Big Wave to everyone here. I do read everyone's posts almost daily just forget who said what when I go to reply. Did remember dogwalker glad to hear that a scan is now set in stone, that is great :)

I am back to vomiting regularly and have been making frequent trips to supermarket for oranges, pineapple and lots of salad stuff -- chocolate and crisps make me ill for some very strange reason. Pink lemonade seems to be staying down!

about SPD I was on crutches with DS3 by 30 weeks (I think it was then) and it was awful and I've started to get the pain now. Any advice greatly appreciated!

This is turning into mammoth post i think, sorry!
Nite ladies x

Dalrymps · 21/11/2011 22:26

Brilliant news ecstatica what a lovely surprise!Grin

Florin · 21/11/2011 22:59

ecstatica wow that must have been wonderful

openerofjars · 21/11/2011 23:47

Hi all,

Just a quick update as it is getting late.

ecstatica, lovely news! Bless your sonographer.

My scan today was brilliant: much less uncomfortable than I remembered from DS and there is a 13 week old foetus in there, boinging up and down, doing backflips and going utterly crazy. It's going to be a handful, this one! The sonographer had to tilt the bed back so all the blood went to my head to do the nuchal fold measurement. But all is well and, thankfully, it is on its own in there. I think two that energetic might be a struggle.

However, it seems I am on the wrong bus, ladies: my EDD is now 28 May!

So it has been lovely sharing the first trimester with you, and I hope you all have calm pregnancies and uneventful births, but I will royally annoy you all in mid-May if this baby is like its big brother and comes early, especially those down the July end of the month.

Good luck and I'll look in from time to time to say hi.

WhyAlwaysBoris · 22/11/2011 09:19

congratulations on your scan, opener, LOL on backflipping baby. Are you sure you want to leave our lovely bus? My due date was 1st june then 31st may and now 1st june again and i haven't even had my first scan yet, so i've decided i'm just staying now, regardless!

I'm off to have my flu jab this afternoon and i'm dreading it to be honest as i am not prepared to have one with mercury in it, and i know the nurse will just want to jab me with the usual one (cheaper and in a big bottle) rather than the dearer and single dose mercury free one. I'm steeling myself incase it is unpleasant.....

birdofthenorth · 22/11/2011 09:26

Hi all. Am in hospital having woken up with heavy bleeding this morning. Waiting for a scan now. DH away in London but trying to get back. Wish me luck xx

Kveta · 22/11/2011 09:28

fingers crossed for you bird sending good vibes your way xx

Warlin · 22/11/2011 09:33

Morning all

Oh know bird hope you're ok. I'm sure all is well. I know people who bled lots in first trimester and had healthy babies so try not to worry. Hopefully the scan will out mind at rest. Big hugs x

open congrats on the scan, fab news!

ecstatica that's brilliant! I'm the same as you time wise to great to think that hopefully mine doing that too....fingers crossed.

I finally got my booking and 12 week scan date for Fri 2nd so not long to wait. Going to London to visit my sister and xmas shop that day so hope the news is good :)

whyalways is there a diff version of the flu jab that you can ask for? I didnt realise that and havent had mine yet....putting it off as I really hate the thought of doing it when pregnant yet I know I prob should.

ellybett · 22/11/2011 09:35

Thinking of you bird. Big hugs going your way.

KatyJ26 · 22/11/2011 09:44

Hope all goes well for you bird.

Well I've told most people I wanted to now and it's lovely to finally be able to share the good news! My neighbour came across the road and asked if there was something I needed to tell her!!! ... apparently my daughter told everyone at show and tell, so now the whole village know!!! Daughter is V excited and asks to see my tummy on a regular basis, my son on the other hand is not remotely bothered by the whole thing!
Bizarrely, it still doesn't feel real even though I've had my scan and actually have quite a bump - I can't wait til I can feel it move, then it will all seem real... I think becuase it was soooo wanted, I can't quite believe it has actually happened!
Ah well, I should go and do something productive and domestic goddess - ly (please read - put the kettle on and have a cuppa!)

Have a good day everyone xx

WhyAlwaysBoris · 22/11/2011 09:50

thinking of you bird, hope your dh arrives soon and all is well xx

Kveta · 22/11/2011 10:28

ecstatica that's wonderful :) what a lovely sonographer!

I just told my boss that I'm pg, and he was lovely about it. I have 1 other boss to tell, and won't see him until early December, so will tell him then, but now feel it can be less of a secret. I HATE secrets, so am delighted I can tell people. DH has only told his family so far, but then he isn't the one throwing up all the time, so it isn't preying on his mind 24/7!

I didn't sleep a wink last night, I was so sick all night, just constant nausea. Still rough today :( I just hope this is a peak before it starts getting better, as I would not cope with months of this!

Katy my DS keeps patting my tummy and talking to baby, and he nags me to take my vitamin every morning (if I haven't taken it and he notices it on my plate, he will pick it up and try to force it into my mouth, going 'baby pill mummy, now' he's worse than DH!) I suspect he will be less thrilled as my bump grows and will then be even less thrilled when baby comes home from the hospital and stays with us :o

birdofthenorth · 22/11/2011 10:58
