Sorry, meant to say Seriously, not Chedder. Haven't quite got a handle on the naming conventions here!

Kayzr, Kveta and Fubble - congrats on your scans and seeing your beans, and well done to all of you who?ve had booking appts.
Greengoose congrats on the successful opening of your shop. Really admire you being able to manage it while preggers.
Stuntnum and Somtam - congratulations and welcome
Florin - wow!! Love that you and your twin are both pregnant and only days apart. Will be nice to go though it together. My grandfather was one of twins, so secretly hoping they run in families as there haven?t been any more since in our family.
JJ sorry you?re getting negative comments. I hope people start being a bit nicer, and you get over the sickness soon.
ecstatic Good luck in your new home, and hope the vomming stops soon.
Kveta - have you tried fresh mango? It is known in some cultures as the morning sickness cure.
Warlin, Rayray - hope you are feeling better
Opener - there must be a thread on here somewhere with tips on breaking the news to family..?
Wow TDW - where do you get all that energy? What?s your secret?
I?m not really getting strange cravings, but tastes have changed a bit. Have completely gone off coffee ? just tastes burnt, those Belvita biscuits have no appeal anymore, has to be toast and jam now, and wine taste of vinegar. Handy, really. Have been indulging in crumpets and jam with real butter, and mince pies!! Well, they are supposed to be lucky. Feel lucky not to have much in the way of nausea, though it worries me that pregnancies with high levels of morning sickness are supposed to be more successful. My biggest problem is extreme fatigue. It?s just overwhelming, so find it hard to get anything done. Ohhh, and got my booking appt (Monday) and first scan confirmed (9th Dec), so is all starting to seem a bit more real.
Hi to everyone else, sleep well all of you insomniacs, and hope the sickness eases up for those of you suffering too. Sweet dreams!! (talking of which, who?s getting weird dreams??!!)

StarlightMcKenzie · 15/11/2011 06:49

Hi all,

Just got back from Egypt for a week. Had to go to bed at 8pm every night because the hotel was like an ashtray at that time of day. People even smoked in restaurants. bleugh. It made me feel so sick.

But the daytime was okay. Could disappear to a quieter pool and relax.

Scan next week apparently but I can't make it so got to rearrange. Still not sure where exactly where having baby though as we have moved area and will need to ask lots of questions. My requirements are ......erm......specific.

Having said that, once I was found in the system (after being lost again) I have been treated so much better than I have the last two times. I was told that the blood tests are all 'opt-in' rather than 'opt-out' and my own calculated due date is what they are going with until scan AND they didn't weigh me but simply asked me what I weighed which is just as well as I wouldn't have agreed to being weighed - I'm contrary! Grin

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 15/11/2011 07:03

Morning all!

Twiglet - don't worry, I'll answer to most names! I even replied on another thread to something that wasn't directed at me, I'm so flexible Blush. Lasagne-fest went very well actually; much to my surprise, no objections from the digestive system so assume meat is now back on the menu!

Starlight - I'm envious of your holiday; I could just do a bit of lounging by a pool!

So, slept okay last night but was woken up at 5am by the bin lorry coming to empty the bins at a nearby restaurant - gets me every Tuesday Angry.

Bit excited as have my booking in appt this morning at 9.30am - I know it's just an admin exercise, but means I actually get to do something pregnancy related other than retching and sleeping. Have to provide a urine sample though and I'm terrible at peeing in little containers...let's just say my offering is....minimal Grin. Think I get bloods taken too, so sounds like a more thorough MOT that I've had for a few years!

Interesting to hear everyone's food fancies - mine seem to change every day; very odd. Although the Tesco Strawberry Iced Doughnuts seem a constant Grin.

Right then, hope everyone has a good day and I'll report back about booking in appt tonight.

Kveta · 15/11/2011 10:24

hiya,

hope the appt goes well today SSC! and am Envy at your holiday Starlight!

Thedogwalker, you must be exhausted! do you work full time? I do 5 days a week, but reduced my hours whe I came back after mat leave with DS, so now do school hours. Jammy, I know! I'm back in the office today after 7 whole working days off, which feels very odd. I have never taken so long off work before due to illness. I'm still sitting here coughing and spluttering like a plague victim at my desk, but needs must. I'm travelling for a meeting tomorrow until the end of the week, so need to get some last minute stuff done today.

Twiglet, our booking in appt does involve choosing the hospital to book in to, as each one has different paperwork and procedures - because of where we are, we have 4 different hospitals that we can use, which straddle 3 different counties, so each has a different system and different hand held note systems etc. We don't have to choose what kind of birth we want though, thankfully, but without choosing a hospital, we can't get a scan!

My food fancies are pretty constant this time - anything batter based really. Pancakes, toad in the hole, yorkshire pudding. yummy. With DS it was potatoes all the way, this time it's gluten. I had a magnum ice cream after dinner last night though, and it was rank. I normally love them. DH thinks it's great that the 3rd one from the packet is now automatically his!! I'm still loving the chocolate marshmallow cakes from sainsburys too, weirdly.

We told all our family last night. My wee brother was ace as usual, and said conrgatulations, wee sister number 1 has yet to respond and probably won't, wee sister number 2 has known for a while but loved seeing the scan picture! My grandmother was weird - with DS she was so so excited, and couldn't stop squealing at the news - bear in mind I was unwed, and living in a different country to DH at the time, so most folk were just Shock. So this time, most folk have been 'oh, well done, is there anything on tv tonight', and she was all 'why? why would you want another child? isn't that a bit foolish? did you plan this? why didn't I know sooner?' which was bizarre. FIL is over the moon though, as are my parents! I sent mum a photo of my scan pic with the caption 'grandchild number 3' and apparently my dad nearly cacked himself going 'TWINS?!' before my mum pointed out he has 2 grandchildren already :o

Kayzr · 15/11/2011 10:30

My food fancies are sausages. I can't get enough sausages. Plus sour sweets. I have a big box full of sour sweets and it's amazing.

Kayzr · 15/11/2011 10:38

Seriously I hopw your booking in appointment goes well and you have a nice MW.

Starlight I am jealous. Not of all the smoke filled restaurants but the lounging near a pool.

Twiglet I had to tell the MW where I wanted to give birth at both of my booking in appointments.

Speaking of booking in appointments I have mine tomorrow at 10.30. I do not want to have my bloods taken as I hate needles.

Warlin · 15/11/2011 11:00

Morning all

Just a quickie as work is so hectic today. Working on a tender due in at midday so need to get cracking. Was up late last night making changes and now totally knackered....I can't deal with this tiredness any longer...grrrrrrrr

SSC good luck at the apt...I am still waiting to hear about mine but agree that it will be nice to talk about being pregnant. My consultant was to send me through a date but was on hol last week.

starlight jealous of the holiday. Where abouts in Egypt? I love it there! Obviously you weren't able to dive!

I'm feeling ok, just really really tired, sore boobs and nauseous. I go from craving things (normally high carb foods) to feeling sick at the sight of them!

Roll on few more weeks and the sickness will have passed (fiingers crossed)

Have a good day everyone xx

millyv · 15/11/2011 11:06

Morning all!

starlight very jealous of the fact you've been on holidays, I would love to jet off somewhere exotic at the moment!

I was asked about where I wanted to give birth, I said the hospital as it's literally only a mile or 2 away from the house and even though she put me through consultant care she said I could still have a home birth if I wanted and we'd talk about it more at 36 weeks, which confused me? I said no I want it in hospital - I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to being in pain so I'm heading to the place with all of the drugs!

Food wise I'm totally only eating savoury things, I ate a magnum the other day and hated it - odd as I usually love them! Also tried a sticky toffee pud and custard and had to leave it - I was quite upset with myself as I absolutely love stp! I love toasted bagels and butter at the moment but anything carb based seems to hit the spot!

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Xx

Miniangel · 15/11/2011 11:40

Hi All

I got admitted to hospital yesterday with severe dehyradation and urine infection.I was throwing up so much that body had lots of ketones and went to starvation mode. Trust me to end up at hospital with hyperemesis meaning excessive vomitting in pregnancy.

I have a scan at 16.00 to make sure my kidneys are fine . I hope that goes well.I hope the baby is fine.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Kayzr · 15/11/2011 11:53

Miniangel I hop you're all right and that the kidney scan goes well.

ceeej · 15/11/2011 11:53

Morning

Very excited that people are booking in and having scans, makes it all seem more real. Had my flu jab yesterday, glad that's out of the way but have a few weeks til booking in.

I'm also craving carbs and eating tonnes of bread which is weird because bread used to give me really bad indigestion and gas but now seems fine. Thought I'd lost my sweet tooth but then I found that milka daim chocolate is now available in the UK (having eaten tonnes of it in Sweden this summer) but that's the only chocolate that appeals.

We've only told parents and two close friends so far, waiting until after 12 week scan to tell everyone else but my cousin announced yesterday that their second is due mid July so am hoping the rest of the family doesn't get funny about us not telling them.

starlight your holiday sounds lovely, pity about the smoking though. I also never let the doctor weigh me as its so dependent on time of day, clothes, how hydrated I am etc. I weigh myself once a week in the same conditions every week so always just give them that.

Kveta · 15/11/2011 11:55

oh no miniangel :( hope everything goes well. good luck.

ceeej · 15/11/2011 11:55

oh miniangel that sounds awful, hope the scan is all OK

callmemamma · 15/11/2011 11:59

Hi everyone!
I am Envy about your holidays starlight if all goes well will have to organise something early next year before new baby arrives..
I was nauseous all day yesterday and tired but in general symptoms are so mild that I keep thinking I just imagine them and keep worrying something might be wrong..
Going to hospital today though for booking in and bloods hopefully talking to some professionals about being pregnant will put my mind at ease a bit.
Day out in London from work tomorrow and fancy meal out but not sure how this is gonna work with me needing wee every half an hour and not really fancy any food at the moment..hope people will opt for non-alcoholic drinks as well so i do not have to explain myself why on mineral water Grin

greengoose · 15/11/2011 12:00

miniangel poor you! That sounds a bit scary for you, I hope you feel better soon, and have a good scan result.

Startlight good to have you back, I forgot about your hols and was worried something bad had happened.... I dont think my tummy would have liked the smokey atmosphere, but Im jealous as every one else of your holiday!

Everyone is having their booking apts and Ive still not got in touch with doc or MW... I need to make myself do this or Im going to have no notes to take to my scan (on 25th)!

Both my boys are off sick today, and DH is away with work until late Thurs, aaagh. (luckily my day to work in the shop was yesterday, so I just about managed that, although boys were in the shop from 3pm, and we had to get taxi home with pizza at 6.30.... not going to make mum of the year on that performance, oh well......)

callmemamma · 15/11/2011 12:01

miniangel sounds like you're the opposite of me on the symptoms front.
hope scan goes well and both kidneys and baby are fine

Dalrymps · 15/11/2011 12:54

mini sorry you're so sick. Hope your kidneys are ok and you're feeling better soon.

10000fireflies · 15/11/2011 13:13

Mini - that sounds awful. I hope your kidneys are ok and you are on the road to recovery.

StarlightMcKenzie · 15/11/2011 13:16

Sorry you're sick Mini. Hope they can do something about it.

I went to Sharm and no, I couldn't dive but I could snorkle. I read somewhere that June babies are the most likely to suffer from rickets (From lack of vit D) because the mother gets little sun so I'm glad I got some sun in.

Before you all panic though, I think it is rare in the general population but slightly increased in cultures that cover up large parts of their bodies all year.

Warlin · 15/11/2011 14:21

mini hope you're ok, that must have been really scary.

starlight I hope all our babies don't get rickets!! :) Ladies, think we should all book hols just in case. DH was keen to go away in Jan but I really don't like the idea of a bikini when I just look fat! Not confident enough yet to parade my growing body around!

The food thinkg is cracking me up...I go from being starving and craving anything fatty...to feeling sick at the thought of anything. I am so exhausted too. Was taking the dog for her morning walk at 7am this morning and legs felt like lead....I just have no energy at the moment, despite being in bed before 10 every night!

goose I haven't had my booking apt yet either and don't have a date as yet..hope to hear soon

Have a good aft everyone

Kayzr · 15/11/2011 14:59

I've just had to pick up DS1 from school as he's got diaoherra. So that means 2 days off school and he's fine!! Not even acting remotely ill.

10000fireflies · 15/11/2011 15:44

Oh my God!! www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2061723/Chantelle-Houghton-pregnant-Alex-Reids-baby.html Shall we let her join our group??!!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 15/11/2011 15:50

Hope your better soon mini

Welcome back starlight glad you had a lovely time Smile

I'm sick of feeling sick! And being sick! I'm hungry, I feel sick, while I'm eating I'm ok, then I feel sick again :( basically not eating any meals just what I fancy when I can. Its annoying me an irrational amount.

Fil sent me a message on facebook saying congratulations which was nice. Spose I should tell my aunt, she's a bit evangelical aboout having "just two" so she'll have plenty to say

Dd is 3 on monday and its made me realise just how glad I am to be pregnant as she really Is very grown up now! Were just having a tea party at home but ill be making cakes for, at the moment I'm looking forward to it let's hope It stays that way!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 15/11/2011 15:51

Kayzr hope ds is 'better' soon! Its always fun when they're like that! Xxx

firefly it would be like a time bomb, mumsnet would flame her! Bet katie price is reeling haha
