So sorry to hear your news growyourownSad My best friend has just been through the same thing.. I hope you heal quickly and your time comes soon. Thinking of you x

I just called thee midwife to ask what my iron levels are and she said all my blood results are back apart from my ironHmm

She also said that if I am anaemic they can't give me iron as its too early on in my pregnancy. Anyone know why this is?

I tried the liquid (Spatone?) iron sachets last pregnancy but didn't notice any difference till the midwifes gave me the iron tablets.. Midwifes said they'll go through my blood results at 16 weeks, I can't spend the next 7 weeks feeling like this! I got out of breath making my breakfast this morningSad

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 12:58

kveta you poor thing! You really are having a rough time, really hope it stops soon and we are all indeed glowing --not that that's ever happened for me--

milly hope your better soon too! My jeans are redundant apart from one pair that hangs of my bum so I won't wear them, I'm in legins and jumper dresses, that way I have a few months, hopefully, of comfort in my normal clothes.

I'm dreading my boobs rejecting unwired bras again, when pg with ds I ended up in maternity bras at 16 wks because any others hurt so much :(

Dairy, I've found my pregnacare vitamins are helping slightly with the exhaustion, but I have a feeling I too will need iron. Its all fun this ey?

Warlin · 08/11/2011 13:27

Hi All

growyourown I am so so sorry for your news. I really hope you are ok and fingers crossed it will happen again soon for you x

Welcome *nemo". I can't decide on the flu jab. I had thought maybe after 1st trimester but think its prob ok anytime. Ive never had flu but would be my luck. Does anyone know whatthe affect would be on baby if I caught flu?

Emblosion I'm Northern Ireland too. Have had a private scan but still havent got booking apt. I'm going through the Ulster...what hospital are you using?

I feel ok, just wrecked! It's like having a permanent hangover! Still no sickness thankfully.

green good luck for sat! How exciting!

Anyway hope everyone having good day. I am working from home today which is bliss!!

Constantbaker · 08/11/2011 13:47

Is there room for another first time mum? I'm due around 8 June 2012 and am freaking out!!

DH and I are very excited but I'm constantly worrying about what symptoms I should be experiencing. I had really bad nausea (but only sickness on 1 day) from about weeks 6-9. Then it seemed to ease off. Now I still have waves of it now and again and feel exhausted and have sore boobs. I've also had mild stomach cramp type feelings now and again but not constantly. Is this normal?

I don't have my scan until the end of the month and am so worried they're going to tell me something is wrong. I'm surrounded by friends who have much more extreme symptoms than me and are constantly throwing up. I've had no bleeding at all though so I'm hoping that's a good thing.

millyv · 08/11/2011 13:52

jj I have been living in jumper dresses and leggings but sometimes I just fancy putting some jeans anad a jumper on, it's very annoying!

I haven't been wearing underwired bras for some weeks now, they really hurt my boobs so went to M&S and bought some non wired t-shirt bras, they were only something like £20 for 2, I thought that will do me before I need to go up a size - which I do already and they are comfortable.

I'm not sure about the flu jab either, my mum says not to have it as she gets a really bad reaction to it but my brother (a gp) says I should???

Xx

millyv · 08/11/2011 13:53

sorry cross posted... welcome and congrats!

From what I can tell and have learnt from this and our first thread everyone seems to be totally different in the symptoms department, please try not to worry!

X

emblosion · 08/11/2011 14:07

Welcome constantbaker and congrats!

Warlin I am in Downpatrick and hoping to use the midwifery led unit at the Downe Hospital as long as no complications. The Ulster is my plan B! Where did you go for your private scan? Would love one, but I guess really I should just wait!
Since moaning on here earlier I actually just got my first appointment date - its scan and booking in together in December 13th! Exciting! Smile

Fubble · 08/11/2011 14:33

Hey all,

growyourown so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are able to give yourself time to deal with everything and that you recover well.

emblosion and warlin - I'm in not so sunny Norn Iron as well - I'll be using the ulster again. Had DD there in Nov 09, and it's fairly close to home so hopefully all will go well again.

I had a week of feeling miserable and sick when I was 7 weeks, and then the symptoms suddenly stopped (had the EPU scan then - probably a whole thread ago!!) and then today the nausea is back with a boke! Have my booking in appt and scan this Friday so I'm lucky as I don't have the same wait as some of the rest of you ladies. 10 weeks tomorrow - time goes by so slowly!

Here's hoping we all have as good a day as poss!
Fubble

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 14:49

Congratulations and welcome baker :) sounds pretty normal to me but if your ever worried its always best to call the midwife, I've had lots of aches and 'streching' sensations and alls ok so far.

Florin · 08/11/2011 14:49

Growyourown so sorry to here your news.

green well done on cleaning out ducks I haven't been near mine for a couple of weeks, thank god for dh! They are amusing creatures but who would think they could make quite so much mess!

My boobs are killing me and I am so hungry. Weirdly I can't get enough chocolate which is normally something that doesn't bother me I can go months without it. Now it's all I want. I blame it on dh who loves the stuff so baby must have inherited his sweet tooth!

SarahBumBarer · 08/11/2011 16:29

Hey guys - sorry not checked in for a while, poorly husband and DS1 and seriously knackered me!

So sorry to hear your news Growyourown I hope you are being taken good care of.

Welcome to the new folks - baker your symptoms sound completely within the absolultely huge range of normal to me Smile

So I called my Doctors surgery last week to ask what I was required to do and they told me that I had to do a urine test to be sent off to the lab to test for pregnancy. So I duly drop off my "sample" and was told to ring in on Tuesday for the results. Anyway, dutifully I have just called in to be told that the receptionist can't give the results and would I like the doctor to call me Confused. Why get me to ring in then??? So now I'm torn between irritation and panic that something is not right.

Kayzr · 08/11/2011 16:44

Growyourown I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself. Sad

Is anyone else getting cravings yet? I can't get enough of sour sweets. I'm currently online ordering a bulk load of them.

itchyfootedlady · 08/11/2011 16:52

hi xandrass... nice to have a due date buddy. I'll race you....

Growyourown i'm so sorry :( sounds awful. Hope you and DH feel better soon.

I did eventually make it out of bed today, only to nip out for a 30 min vomit reducing nap in the landy at lunch time and to wake up after dark nearly 3 hours later. oops! better set an alarm next time i try that. I am officially the worst employee ever. My poor bosses are all engineering men though so i just claim pregnant womens issues and they back away looking scared. I must not take advantage.

I got my scan date last night. 19th Dec just in time for christmas. hope its all ok! I am actually considering getting a private scan done uin a few weeks as DH and I are off to Egypt for a holiday in 2 1/2 weeks and I don't fancy a trip to Egyptian hospital if anyting comes up. What do you reckon? Do you think they would be able to tell if anything bad was likely to come along at 9 weeks? There is a place just round the corner from us that does a £97 scan and it seems like a good early christmas present if it means enjoying our week away with slightly more peace of mind. Am i just being nuts??

You guys with toddlers I salute you. I am incapable of taking care of myself today let alone anybody else. I fear we may be a one child family! :)

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 17:17

itchy they get to a certain age and raise themselves, or each other Wink seriously though, soo glad dd is potty trained, the hardest thing I face is a final wipe and prepping food. And she's not yet 3. Plays happily all day generally doesn't demand much and the 4yo is in ft primary school. So you could have a huge brood yet :)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 08/11/2011 18:07

Evening all.

growyourown - so sorry to hear your news.

Welcome to everyone new (my fried braincells can't retain names from page to page I'm afraid!).

Lousy night's sleep last night, hence not posting this morning. Feel like I've eaten a million calories this morning trying to stay awake and avoid nausea - have been fit for nothing at work today. Have collected maternity pillow thing from Argos on the way home so will try that out tonight and see how it goes.

Will post more when I have a day when I can actually think!

ellybett · 08/11/2011 18:23

growyourown I'm so sorry. My thoughts are with you and your dh.

Welcome baker and itchy - I'm muchly jealous of ur nap. In work till 8 today but told my lovely boss my news earlier and now she's insisting I sit down while she makes me dinner! Nausea still a battle today, gets worse when hungry, gets worse after I eat! Very fed up with having a mouth full of saliva! Sorry if tmi!

Am thinking I've waited as long as I can and will phone docs tomorrow to book my booking in. Am definitely more laid back this time but can't hold out anymore!
jj I'm jealous of your fully potty trained dc's! Came very close to puking on my dd earlier during nappy change! She's 2yrs 2 months and we're trying potty training but don't think she's ready. She weed on the floor whilst holding the potty last night!

Florin · 08/11/2011 18:23

Kayzr my craving is chocolate normally not bothered by it but can't get enough of the stuff. Think baby has inherited his fathers sweet tooth
My tummy was a bit sore earlier but realised it was because my jeans were too tight Shock so have resorted to the hairband trick!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 18:41

elly dd was litterally potty trained the week before I discovered I was pregnant! More luck than judgement! So glad as ds was 6mnths when I got my BFP for dd, so wed just started solid food... I won't say any more but you can imagine the difficulties I faced there!

All quiet here, the dcs go to bed between 6-6.30 and there's silence, thank goodness because I need some cheese and onion crisps Grin wouldn't mind some pick n mix either, hmmmm... "Dp" lol

greengoose · 08/11/2011 18:43

Im not sure why Im doing this, but I am delaying booking in with MW. I have next scan booked (25th nov), as they did it when I went to the EPU, but something in me doesnt want to tempt fate or something. Im 10 weeks on Thurs and still havent phoned. I just need to get on with it really. The last twice I MCd it was just after I booked in...... Im just being chicken. Im also stupidly busy.

I fed my boys a fish pie out of the freezer tonight. Horray for having things in freezer, I could not have cooked properly tonight.

OH will be back from his swanky hotel at 9pm tonight. A very childish (and knackered) part of me might be in bed asleep by then. Meh.

Ill be in a better mood in the morning, sorry ladies...just feeling old and grumpyThanks

openerofjars · 08/11/2011 19:10

Growyourown, I'm so sorry for your loss. That's such a shitty thing to happen. I really hope that you have a quick physical recovery from the surgery and my heart goes out to you.

Ellie, it's gross. We started potty training DS a month ago (so when I was 6-7 weeks) and he is almost completely there with it but on the rare occasions that he gets it wrong it is vile. He had the runs last Tuesday. Keep her in nappies until the sickness passes, for the love of god.

greengoose, you did better than me. We had jacket potatoes, beans and cheese.

DS is 3 tomorrow so I am baking his birthday cake tonight. I know I'll enjoy it once I get started but my back is killing me after a day of toddler wrangling, taking things to the tip, shopping and swimming. I am beat.

Mind you, if I make two cakes... You see where I'm going with this?

Welcome newbies!

Kveta · 08/11/2011 19:13

oh goose nobody will blame you for feeling knackered! I nearly lost it this evening when I got a text at 5, which is always always DH saying 'I'm off to the pub with work mates, see you at 10, leave me some dinner', so I was ranting and raving, then picked up the phone to find it was from the NHS reminding me I have my flu jab tomorrow Blush :o

DS is 2y 1 month and nowhere near potty training. He thinks the potty is an attractive hat, and tonight peed all over his toy garage. Adds a little verisimilitude to a garage if the lift shaft smells of pee, I suppose. But doesn't add anything to a hormonal mum... He has started going 'hmm, I think so mummy' whenever I ask him a question (such as do you want some dinner, is it time for bed, etc). Very random, but cute :o

I haven't kept much down today. Tried some lucozade earlier but brought it up, and a yoghurt, that came up too. sigh. Not looking forward to work tomorrow at all, but needs must. may take a duvet and spend the day sleeping in the car :o

just out of interest, those with older kids, when do they start staying still when they are ill? There must be a point at which they twig that lying still on the sofa is better for them than haring around the house coughing, but when is it?!

Oh, and if we are all still talking to each other in a year or 18 months time, and if I even mention broodyness, please virtually smack me and remind me how nasty morning sickness is. I do not want to do this again for a very very long time, if at all.

greengoose · 08/11/2011 19:26

Thanks Kveta! I think I would go nuts if OH went to the pub straight after work just now.... Im a bit needy. Grin
My DS1 (9) has just about got that when hes ill, bed is good, but only just, and he has to be quite ill..... sorry! Maybe girls are better at it?

Openerofjars loving the realistic lift Grin! Can i have some cake please? (V. impressed that you are baking)! Does it have to be in fancy shape etc, or is he ok with just a good cake? My cakes seem to get simpler the more complicated the rest of life gets.....

itchy Im another one a bit Envy of your nap!! I had to peg my eyes open this afternoon even with work to do and school run and DS2 jumping on me....

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 19:49

green I don't blame you for waiting, I would possibly be the same, try not to worry though xx

Open what kind of cake are you doing? Dd is 3 on the 21st and is peppa pig mad so I'm thinking something along those lines, for ds' 4th in july I did 'andys bed' from toystory and had a little buzz and woody laid on it, and happy birthday ds indented in the head and footboard.

kveta I'm actually giggling a bit at the authetic wee smell in the lift Grin
Umm, wrt staying still when ill, dd always has, she is --like me a bit of a 'wallower' and loves a blanket, her 'goffgee' (comfort blanket) dummy and dvds snuggled on the sofa, ds is pretty much the same now he's older, I think he was around 2 1/2 almost three when he sussed it, they'd never stay in bed but take over the sofa and tv, can't complain apart from all the sick and other fluids both of them being ill two weeks ago was kinda relaxing as for 3 days they just slept and laid around.--

openerofjars · 08/11/2011 20:06

For his actual birthday I am doing a chocolate sponge with, at his request, pink glacé icing and lots of candles. We are having his party at the weekend when I will do Cake 2 - the revenge - which I think will be a normal sponge with green glacé icing and toy dinosaurs stuck into it (and guests can have a dinosaur to take home with them).

I don't really do cake decor, and DS can't have dairy at the mo, so am stuck with boring but colourful icing.

Right, must get off arse, do dishes and then bake.

Kill me now.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 20:48

Sounds yummy!

I was getting carried away planning dds and realised she is 3, --and my imagination is far wider than my skills-- so I'm going for a normal cake, jam and buttercream middle, different shades of green fondant cut into 'grass' to go around the edge, green top, and splodges of chocolate fudge buttercream as muddy puddles and stick her peppa figures in them, done.
