Morning all.

Congrats to all who've had scans.

I'm feeling rough today - poor sleep last night and nausea rocking along at a good level this morning. DH has been out looking for a maternity pillow for me, bless him, as he thinks it'll help me sleep - hasn't found one that he deems suitable yet but I'm sure something will be ordered off the internet by the end of the day, knowing him!

He did pop into Mothercare in his search and is now plotting to buy all sorts of 'amusing' christmas baby outfits in the new year sales so we have them for the baby's first christmas Hmm

Well, second breakfast has just arrived, thanks to DH, so I'm off to see if porridge is the answer to nausea...I doubt it, but I'm willing to try!

Have a good day everyone.

biglips · 05/11/2011 11:24

seriouslystrong i found porridge seems to settle my tummy longer and to keep nausea at bay as its more fullfulling than normal cereal.

today im feeling so bleurgh as no sickness but burping still going on, on and off, and i feel my taste buds/appetite so sooooooo stale permantly...i wonder if thats a morning sickness as cannot even drink my fave cup of tea as it makes me gag but only have coffee, tried chewies and mints stuff but it doesnt agree with me, i find fresh oranges and orange juices perfect for me. I just feel like i eat crap but trying my best to keep away from carbs atm as im constipating abit and full of wind Blush. My dp had got a very sore throat today which it making me wanna puke so he's keeping an arm length away from me!!

biglips · 05/11/2011 11:28

oh, just found out a few days ago that im not the only one who's pg in my family but my cousin is and she is more or less same weeks as me!.....my mum told me but she still doesnt know that im pg too. Got my first midwife appointment on tues so ill tell my mum and bro then.... i got a feeling my mum is gonna be like this Shock as there is only me and my bro.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 05/11/2011 12:33

When I was pregnant with ds I got a V pillow in argos, it came with a white washable cover, it was only £7, and its still my favourite (widgeys are shite) and my 'total body support' from jojomamanbebe was just huge and awkward.

Kveta, sorry to hear ooh was so rubbish! Hope you get some rest!

FluffyMitchell · 05/11/2011 16:29

ecstatica · 05/11/2011 17:51

Hello girls,
I had my scan this morning and pleased to report we saw the bean with the heartbeat :) I am 8 weeks tomorrow so EDD 17 JUNE but will likely be much earlier as it will be a planned c-sec. Sonographer was wonderful, a mother of 3 boys and a girl which made me think 'oh, there's hope then'.

The celebratory lunch was lovely but I threw up on way home and then at home and ended up in bed with hot water bottle and pain.
Kveta -- is the pain you get often quite severe? The pain in my back and ribs had me in tears today and i fell asleep on painkillers and hot water bottle.

Pillow is a good idea, need to get one too as can't sleep on side.

Best get ready for fireworks, enjoy it everyone xxx

Carty80 · 05/11/2011 20:11

Congrats on your scan ecstatica, such a relief to see the little heartbeat!

kveta sounds horrible, so sorry your in such pain and the doctor wasn't much help. I had 4 days off from symptoms and paniced, hence why i phoned midwife and got the scan but have been sick as a dog today so it was only a short lived rest bite!

jj I know exactly what you mean, my parents came round last weekend and DC acted beyond awful, telling lots of (funny) bum and poo jokes, lots of screaming, DS just learnt to burp at will and parents left quite quickly! Sure they got in the car after and "discussed" us having a 3rd and other 2 being out of control!

Grow Any news?

Going to have to go shopping for some new clothes but just feel at 7 + 4 it is just too early but had a mini melt down this morning as none of my clothes fit or hide the muffin top! Need to do some exercise too, just to at least feel I am doing something to counteract all the bread and chocolate!!

Hope everyone sleeps well.xx

openerofjars · 06/11/2011 08:59

Congrats to everyone who has had their scan: it really feels like we're on the way now, doesn't it?

green, your shop sounds lovely: where are you based, so anyone local can get stuff from you instead of the big chain shops?

Vommy and tired over here, and 11 weeks tomorrow (by my own reckoning). I had a day off feeling so crap last week but it's back on with full force. DS is just potty trained, so I'm trying to get him to use the loo instead of the potty for poos as it's less likely to make me sick.

DH is being amazing. Before I got pg, we were having some difficulties but he's turned into a different man now.

Still 2 weeks to my scan and we have only told my mum, 2 girlfriends and my boss (she was planning stuff in the calendar for next July...) but blimey, I swear I am starting to show already. Bizarrely, I have had three people tell me I've lost weight. Must be all the puking.

Two weeks. Two weeks. I can do it.

Florin · 06/11/2011 10:05

openerofjars I know what you mean about thinking you are showing. Although I am sure I am think it's just fluid as by the evening I have a nice round bump then it goes down a bit overnight although even in the mornings I have waved goodbye to my flat stomach wonder if I will ever have that back!
I am away with dh and mil having a hellish time. She is already trying to dictate things about baby like what pram we should buy its driving me mad I just want to go home. Up to now the baby has been very much dh's and mine and I know it sounds silly but I don't think I am really ready to share!

thedogwalker · 06/11/2011 12:20

Hi all, well I've now managed a week without DH, it has been hard, not physically, I think all of us Mum's know we can manage, but emotionally it's been hard. Just knowing that I cannot talk to him whenever I want to and that I wont get to see him for such a long time. Mind you work and DS have kept me busy and I've been baking this morning to keep my mind from wandering and getting upset.
I hope everyone is well. Kveta hope you are feeling better now.
Well I'm Envy of the scans and even those of you who've had your midwives visit. Mine hasn't even rung me yet. I booked in over 15 days ago and they said they would ring, Hmm hmm, I'm still waiting. I wil be chasing them up tomorrow as I am now 8+2. I had DS in Germany and I had really good service, shame I cannot say that about the NHS and I'm only at the beginning of this journey. It really doesn't inspire me with confidence.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend, take care and stay healthy xx

Florin · 06/11/2011 14:17

thedogwalker glad you are coping ok with your dh being around, and that you are keeping uourself busy that way hopefully the time will pass faster. Don't blame you for chasing midwife I would have thought you should of heard by now.

thedogwalker · 06/11/2011 14:38

Florin, I'm on my DC #2 and I got my flat tummy back after having DS, so don't worry yourself, you can go back to how you were, saying that I am actually 11 lbs lighter than before I had DS. Oh and get the pram that you are most comfy with, you are the one who is going to be doing most of the pushing of it, putting it up/down etc, so try them all out and pick the one that you like, not DH and certainly not mil Smile

ReadySteadyDrink · 06/11/2011 17:36

Hi all!

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. The nausea has been really bad, and the computer makes it worse. I am still feeling bad, but DH found Lillipops for me which seems to help the nausea. Although, if I moan that i feel ill, he doesn't give me much sympathy, he just asks if I've had a Lillipop. The "Sea-bands" help too.

We went for an early scan last week, so it was lovely to see the bean. We saw the heart beating and apparently the dates are correct. It was a bit difficult to take in and enjoy because DS was with us and DH was trying to distract him as he didn't like me being examined!!!

Relieved that the bean seems ok, but I just want the 12 week scan over with. We are paying for a private nuchal scan at 12 weeks, so might not do the NHS one. Did both for DS as wanted as many scans as possible.

Hope you are all ok.
xxx

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 06/11/2011 19:19

Evening all.

Hope everyone's well.

Haven't had the energy to post much yesterday or today. Still tired and queasy. Shame there's a week of work between now and the next weekend - all I want to do is curl up on the sofa!

Had a baked potato with beans & cheese slice for dinner - I consider that a relative healthy eating triumph after what I've been eating recently! Will try to be a bit healthier this week.

Hope you all have a good night's sleep!

Kveta · 06/11/2011 19:39

still rough rough rough here. back a smidgen better, but cold has developed into sinusitis. grr. head feels like it's filled with mud!! on the plus side, not being able to smell anything does mean morning sickness has abated for the time being.

got my hair cut yesterday (have it done every 8-12 months so it was needed!!) and fell asleep in the chair. sigh.

hope you all get some sleep!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 06/11/2011 19:42

Hi all!

The tiredness hit me again today and the nausea for half the day then I had a sudden urge for roast potatoes chicken and yourshire puds, dp went to tesco and whipped up a roast, it was lovely. I'm currently contemplating whipping up a few more and some gravy... Hmmm.

I seriously need to get off my bum tomorrow and find a gp and get on the midwife books, I'm 8weeks already!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 06/11/2011 19:44

Oh kveta, I do hope things improve for you soon! Xxx

Florin · 06/11/2011 20:57

kveta hope you feel better you really have been going through it.
Is anyone else having trouble eating meat. I come from a major meat eating household (we breed our own chickens for meat, dh shoots and my favourite food is steak tartare) however I just can't eat proper bits of meat. Spaghetti Bolognaise is most I can manage. Lumps of meat just feel weird and taste horrid. Had chicken and salad for dinner had 3 bites of chicken and gave rest to dh. Did eat lots of salad though which will hopefully balance a little the rollo yoghurt and toffee crisp I filled up on afterwards!
Strangely my mum had same thing when pregnant with me.

Ok, TMI for some but I've just been to the loo and had a brownish wipe for the first time...someone please tell me this is normal. I have my first midwife appt tomorrow, so I'll definitely tell her but don't want to be worrying about it all night...

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 06/11/2011 23:07

Miss, I had a slight brownish smear with ds a few times between 6-9wks. Try not to worry, I'm not sure which posters but some have had spotting and since seen a heatbeat, sleep well and chat to the midwife tomorrow xxx

greengoose · 07/11/2011 08:00

Just a quick wave to all Smile as I have the boys to get sorted and to school.

DS (4) is off sick today, horrible cough, so we had hardly any sleep. I was meant to be doing prep for the shop opening today, so god knows how thats going to happen now. Oh well. (deep breath, trying not to panic) Im sure itll all work out.

Miss try not to fret to much, I have always been told a bit of brown blood is not so bad, its the bright red stuff they gat concerned about (but even that can be OK for some people). The MW might let you have a scan if you tell her you are worried about it......

Need to go and make porridge... cold day in Devon today!

greengoose · 07/11/2011 08:04

openerofjars the shop is in Totnes, Devon. If youre local pop by (good selection of ergo slings)!! We're raffling a 6ft giraffe on opening day (Sat)! Im only working on Mondays.....

misslaughalot · 07/11/2011 08:13

Thanks JJ and GreenGoose for your reassuring words. The doctor told me some spotting is normal, but that doesn't stop you worrying does it?!!

Will chat to the midwife and take it from there.

Have a good day everyone x
