JjandtheBeanplusPud thanks for your kind words re your mum and her being ok as an older mum. Yes my DD is one day older than yours. Think she will be ok with a little one around but she is very possessive of me so it will be interesting.
SleepyFergus - thanks for your comments too. I was 39 first time round and at my dating scan the nucal measurement put me in a very safe zone and they rated me as the same as someone who was 30. So my age was never mentioned again - not my MW/hospital - it just never came up. I was healthy then and have been since - just older. I will quiz my MW at the booking appointment on Friday. I definitely know that I could not cope with a child that had SN so if it comes to it that will be that. But I so hope all works out. From day 1 I've wanted a sibling for DD. She is the only grandchild on my side of the family (and may remain so if my brother doesn't get his skates on) and she has grown up cousins in Scotland so they don't really count as they are 400 miles away and a different generation.

Re sickness - sucking on boiled sweets really helping me today (teeth feel disgusting tho! So tired and lethargic and that was after going to bed at 9.30 last night and DH letting me sleep in until 8.20 today!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 20:03

Nov my dd is the same, I am hers, luckily ds is a daddys boy and just rolls his eyes when she gets possesive of me, my mums actually pretty great, my sister is 6 and brother just turned 3 --and often takes my two nutters in as well and does a better job-- and its no different for her as it is me. We have a few issues each time I announce impending dc but she's still brilliant.

Just need to say this.

I LOVE GINGER NUTS

Seriously they're like an off switch to nausea, I'm so happy! Grin I just grabbed asda sp ones for 32p thinking if its a waste who cares and they work!!! :)

Dalrymps · 02/11/2011 20:08

Hey everyone

Sickness has been less severe today, definitely still there but more bearable.

Good luck to those of you going for early scans, I'm sure everything will be just fineSmile

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow

Feeling mildly crampy today but trying to reassure myself it's just normal stretching etc..

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 20:36

Dairy, I've been really crampy, had a --very long browse-- and its normal, and greens offered some usefull info on it further back in the thread. Happy 9weeks tomorrow Grin

Dalrymps · 02/11/2011 20:58

Thanks for the reassurance jjSmile I'm
Not overly worried but you know how it kinda plays on your mind..

Just relaxing with a nice cup of tea after scoffing a magnumSmile

Piper0804 · 02/11/2011 21:09

Hi everyone - i am excited we have just decided to go for an early scan - booked it for a week on sunday - excited but a bit nervous. Will be 9 weeks when i have scan - will then be able to tell families.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 22:07

Oooh good luck piper! Very exciting Grin

I know what you mean dairy --i wasn't the insane women on the operating table sniffling and crying saying I haven't felt her move... For the midwife to say honey she's in my hands Blush--

Dalrymps · 03/11/2011 00:00

Ok I'm a little mote worried now as the cramping hasn't stopped and I'm slowly driving myself insaneHmm

Sorry for the TMI but I did a wee before and there was like a blob of white mucus in it. If I looked very closely I could see tiny flecks/streaks of blood in it. I'm sure this may well be normal but it has just added to my worrySad

I'm not going to call the maternity unit unless absolutely necessary as they always send me to the main hosp which is an hour away and I'm not travelling all that way at this time of night. Did that in my last pregnancy when I had cramping at a later stage and it turned out to be nothing and I was tired out and didn't get home till 2am. Sorry, I'm just babbling now. I'm gonna see how I am in the morning.

Night all x

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 03/11/2011 07:00

Morning all!

miniangel - thanks for the info on what the midwife will ask; sounds like stuff I'll know without having to go investigating, so that's okay.

Dalrymps - hope the cramping has calmed down a bit today.

So, very tired today. Didn't get to bed until about 11pm and I'm paying for it now - had to stay in bed for an extra doze after DH got up as I was so tired I was shaking. Feel a bit nauseous today but not as bad as previous days. Not looking forward to getting through the day, but at least I can have an early night tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Dalrymps · 03/11/2011 07:36

Morning ladiesSmile

Seriously Sorry you're so tired, awful when you feel like that. Hope you get a nice early night tonight.

The cramping seems better this morning thanks. It didn't bother me through the night and I can't feel any at the moment.

How is everyone?

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 03/11/2011 08:15

Morning!

Hope things settle dairy! I seem to cramp more when tired, I am this morning, its like when I get up my muscles can cope! And I'm inspecting every 'wipe' like a mentalist! Why do we do this to ourselves!

I'm off to the ils tonight as dp has some work up there for two days, I know its awful but ds is having tomorrow off school, I just can't bear the thought of being here along feeling so rough, with dp 120miles away and my mums 20miles away and neither of us with a car!
Apparently he's telling his family tonight... That will NOT be pretty. His mums reaction was so bad to dd she sent a written appolagy :(

Anyway I must get out of bed and face the shower. Have a good day everyone x

ecstatica · 03/11/2011 08:29

Morning all,

Daly -- Hope you're feeling better, I took painkillers last night for mine, could not stay up till the wee hours with DC jumping on me at 7am. Do you feel sick when the cramping starts? Hugs x

JJ - Don't blame you, I cannot wait for my OH to be home tomorrow. I hope your ILs reaction is a positive one Hmm and you get some rest there too.

SSC - Also hope u have some rest today x

piper -- that's great!

Hello to everyone else :) sorry if i missed anything, got to rush out now.

Am still sick! Lay on sofa for 2.5 hours yesterday afternoon after throwing up lunch which i ate by force -- DC were happy to play around me so was ok. Bleugh....will go for the scan on saturday. With moving home may be ages till i get appt.

Feel free to pop over if u have sick bowl and moans xx

Dalrymps · 03/11/2011 08:35

Jj hope the ils take the news better this time. I really don't understand what people think they'll achieve by having a bad reaction to such news, it's not like you can do anything about it so they might as well just be happy for you.

ecstatica Sorry you're so sickly, awful. Ive been close to being sick but managed to deep breathe and swallow to stop myself so far.

To answer your question, I don't really feel sick when the cramping starts, just crampy like an ache down there that I'm constantly aware of. Maybe it is worse when I'm tired..

Warlin · 03/11/2011 09:14

Hi All

Just a quickie as I'm busy in work this morning.

Had my scan last night...all good news!! I thought I was 7+5 amd he said baby is about 7+3 so pretty accurate! It's 1.1cm long and we were able to see and hear a heartbeat really clearly! So excited...makes it all feel real! He said that miscarriage rate drops once there is a heartbeat and because its a good size so fingers crossed!

Got to go to the booking apt at the hosiptal in next couple of weeks and will get another scan in 6 weeks.

Hope everyone else ok and the sickness is being kept at bay!

Good luck to those getting scanned in next few days.

Kveta · 03/11/2011 09:33

that's great Warlin! glad you saw your baby! :)

I have a booking in appt at the hospital tomorrow, which is a total waste of everyone's time, but must tick some boxes somewhere. Care is so so different over here to in the US! Not better or worse, just different. Over there I had an OB/GYN clinic, and went every 4 weeks, where they scanned me and prodded me and checked my urine, then sent me away again. Here it is less joined up, as I am in one county, but plan to give birth in a different one, so I have community MW, plus all the hospital appts.

Still sick here, DS did a monster poo yesterday, which I managed to clear up really quickly, deposited in the loo, then as I was flushing, I promptly brought up everything I'd eaten so far that day. It was not pleasant. Poor DS was patting my leg and going 'oh dear mummy' because he didn't know what else to do.

On the plus side, I felt much less nauseous afterwards, and managed to cook meals for the next 3 or 4 nights!! So no cooking for a few days, woohoo!

I nearly threw up in the car on the way to work this morning too, but have managed somehow to get to my desk and am now sitting very very still and not talking to anyone until the sickness subsides. My back is still excruciatingly sore, and kept me up all night, so have taken some paracetomol, but no change so far. Ho hum.

Can't wait for Christmas when the sickness should be subsiding for me. With DS I started feeling a bit better by about 16 weeks, and was almost normal by 18, with the odd smell setting me off.

greengoose · 03/11/2011 11:57

Warin Congrats on scan!!! Its such a relief isnt it? I agree it all feels real once you see a little hearbeat....Grin

Keveta Had to smile at the cleaning up poo thing.... sorry! Your DS sounds like a sweety.... hes looking after you really well!

Dairymps congrats to us on nine weeks.... are you feeling any better this morning? I get the cramps too, and did (less so) with my boys. MW said its normal, but only you know if it feels off, so you could go and get it checked maybe??

JJ know what you mean by fanatical wipe checking.... I cant stop it even after scan...... Good luck with telling the ILs, they sound like a handful!

Ecstatica Hope you feel less sick.... not long till your scan though!!Smile

SSCheddar Im knackered too.... sat up too late on couch and then couldnt make the effort to dislodge myself and go to bed, so up till OH dragged me to bed at 11.30. Paying for it this morning.....

My DS(4) has a really croupy cough, which kept us all up for much of the night, and i feel really sick. I dont want to do any work, but I need to get to it, so Ill catch up again later today.....

Dalrymps · 03/11/2011 12:05

Sorry you're so tired greengoose I went to bed at midnight but just had a nap at the same time as the boys so am refreshed once again.

The cramps are lingering mildly in the background but not as strong as last night. I'll get checked out if they carry on. Suppose it could be a sign of a uti in which case I should rule that out. Just had a big wave of nausea before lunch so am eating my sandwich as quick as I can..

Dalrymps · 03/11/2011 12:05

BlushMeant to say, congrats to you green on making 9 weeks too!Smile

Kayzr · 03/11/2011 13:46

Hi.

Sorry I've not been posting much. I'm exhausted and just having to rest all the time.

Hope you are all ok.

misslaughalot · 03/11/2011 13:54

So much good news on this thread, it's fab!

Warlin I believe I'm 7+2 today, and watch your updates with great interest! I'm excited that you got to hear the heartbeat...my scan isn't for 5 weeks, really need to keep myself busy until then to avoid thinking about it every waking second

Hope everyone's tiredness isn't taking over things too much? And congrats to everyone celebrating a mini-milestone! Every day is a little victory!

misslaughalot · 03/11/2011 13:57

Meant to add that chocolate cornflake cakes are making me SO happy at the moment! I treat myself to one every time I get to the top of the stairs as I'm so out of breath!!

callmemamma · 03/11/2011 14:05

Hi everyone!
seems like i'm the one of the "youngest" here only 6+3 today :( but i like what you said misslaugh about every day being a little victory!don't have scan date yet, hoping to get it early next week.Time seems to be dragging

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 03/11/2011 14:37

warlin so glad to hear the scan went well, I'm getting impatient waiting for a date!

Seem to have controlled the sickness today, thanks to sips of water and giner nuts.

I'm dreading telling my ils, I actually feel sick thinking of it, dp is such a lap dog to his mother, he 'understands' why she is off hand, its because she cares and wants better for us Hmm well my opinion of better is having a happy family!!! I could rant for ages about this.

I have had a lovely reaction, after loosing my little brother and grandma in quick sucession last year I've been seeing a bereavement councillor, for 10mnths now, she's fantastic and I told her today, I also told her puds due near my grandmas birthday and a girl will be named after her and she cried and said, "some things are just meant to be" its made me feel so much more positive.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 03/11/2011 14:39

Also asda has pregnancy vitamins, pregnacare, sanatogen and centrum on 3 for £10

greengoose · 03/11/2011 15:53

JJ I think its a lovely idea to call your Pud after your Grandma.... somewhere shell have a proud smile!

(and thanks for the tip about vits Smile)

I have done blessed all work today, got another shop delivery of yet more baby stuff, and that was me lost. This is not good for business!! Anyway, I will catch up when DSs are in bed, as DP is away in Bath today, so I have space to do laptop things. (If I can keep my eyes open).

I have to sew the fabric onto a full size (real) patchwork tree for the shop window by Monday, so that will be Fri through the WE for me... (although going to Friends fireworks do on Sat, which should be fun)!
