Evening all!

green - so, so pleased you had good news; that's really fab.

ecstatica - I get quite a lot of the stretchy / achy pains too. Quite painful at times actually - was freaked out at first even though I know it's quite normal!

Well, I'm home for a bit before I'm out again so having a cuppa. Nausea wasn't too bad today despite this morning's retching! I tend to get queasy again around 9.15 / 9.30am and I've found a little tub of reduced fat humous, with Carr's tablewaters to dip in it, is just the thing to settle my stomach. I'm starting to think that humous may be my favourite thing in the world, ever!

The midwife called me (yay!) so I've got my booking in appt on 15th November. Glad that's booked now as I feel more organised and it's only a couple of weeks away so not long to wait.

Have a good evening everyone!

pokemommy · 01/11/2011 18:23

ecstatica ahh I have non milk smoothies.... just fruit and fruit juice :D

Novmama · 01/11/2011 19:57

Hi to everyone. Haven't posted for a couple of weeks - combination of exhaustion and away last week. I'm now 8+1. Booking appointment on Friday and 1st scan on 29 Nov. Feel ghastly - nausea, tired, headaches, cold in the day and hot at night. Can't remember who asked but my cs scar has also been a little achey. Will ask the MW on Friday.

We've only told 2 good friends who we stayed with last week (could not have hidden it for so long) but not planning on telling anyone until we've had the 1st scan. I am 42 - anyone else here over 40? This is my 2nd pregnancy. DD will be 3 in a couple of weeks.. Trying to be positive but cannot think too far ahead in case the scan picks up problems. Plus we will have to start considering what tests to do - amnio etc. So no excitement here yet just getting through each day.... Would love to hear if anyone else in same boat or has similar experiences

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 01/11/2011 20:28

nov my dd is 3 on the 21st nov so must be close in age to yours, she adores baby but I can't say I'm not slightly nervous at the idea of her with a baby, she will not leave it alone!

I'm sooo achey, I'm cracking the pillows out. I'm guessing its worse in subsequent pregnancies as our muscles are already wrecked stretched.

Dp has awarded me 'most random wants' when I get a brief break from nausea I want food, I'm over croisants now I want a starbucks strawberry milk from asda... 7+2 and its like this already haha Grin

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 01/11/2011 20:30

Forgot to add, I'm 23 so other end of the spectrum but my mum does ok, my brothers the same age as dd :) she had a easy pregnancy. He was 11lb 2oz though.

greengoose · 01/11/2011 20:38

Evening ladies, thanks so much for all the posts.... really made me smile, (although a smile has been firmly plastered to my face since scan anyway)!! Grin

I was so dippy earlier I stirred a cheese sauce for 20mins with the gas not turned on. And Im meant to be running a business and raising two kids.... hmmm.

RE ACHY PAINS: I didnt say earlier, re. all who are on second or more pregnancy, when I told the MW that I was having real achy pains on one side, she said that for woman who have had a few pregnancies (including MCs) it can hurt a lot on the side that the egg was released from the ovary. Its because the hormones are still being released from there, and only stops when the placenta takes over feeding the baby at about 11 weeks (I think). She said its quite often just that when we feel pain early on. So this might explain some of the twinges many of us are having?!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 01/11/2011 21:04

Thanks for flagging that up green, this thread moves so fast bits and bobs just fly straight past me.

The aches I'm having now I reconise, its like someone squeezing my hips. My tummy is very hard, get the feeling ill showing quickly this time round!

Had a long talk with dp as I'm struggling, with feeling alone and he was lovely, he's even organised a baby sitter and tickets to see Breaking dawn on 18th november Grin (twilight nut emoticon)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 02/11/2011 07:05

Morning all!

Well, this morning was a repeat of yesterday's retching over the kitchen sink while trying to help with breakfast; accompanied by DH's helpful query of 'Not glowing yet?' Hmm.

Feel a little better after breakfast so hopefully I can keep the nausea and exhaustion at bay long enough to get through work and then an evening of volunteering - can't wait for the weekend and a good long lie-in!

Just out of curisoity - anyone know (or remember) what the midwife will ask at my booking in appt in a couple of weeks? Just wondering if there's any family history stuff for me or DH that I could do with finding out beforehand. Apparently I'll get bloods taken too and need to take a urine sample - sounds like a fun packed morning to look forward to! Must remember to pop to the surgery in advance for sample bottle otherwise she'll be getting it in a mug with some clingfilm over the top Grin.

Have a good day everyone!

ecstatica · 02/11/2011 08:17

Morning ladies,

Hope you are all well.
SeriouslySC - 2 more sleeps to go!
Nothing happening here other than extreme sickness and unable to sleep.

JJ Remember my post about FIL comments? I said nothing about it when he came over yesterday but he still couldn't say congratulations (not even a hug or smile/nothing!) even reiterated by saying 'it's the last thing you'd want to hear'....so have decided not to mention PG in front of him at all and to keep smiling. MIL asked if conception happened the week we were away, WTF? I blushed like a teenager! Thanks for letting me share that -- will get a good catch up with my friend at weekend for RL moans :)

Will log in to c how everyone is later when the DC are doing their work x

Miniangel · 02/11/2011 08:23

Good Morning all

I tried to eat a buiscuit while laying in bed but couldn't manage to keep it down. Have to go to work anyhow tomorrow so I am keeping my fingers crossed that today turns out to be a good day.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar - The midwife will ask if anyone in the family has heart problems, diabetes, mental problems, any history of birth defects, any breathing problems and sickle cell (this is all I can remember for now). She asked me if I got chicken pox as a child.

Have a great day! :o

SleepyFergus · 02/11/2011 09:01

Novmama - I'm 39 but will be 40 when the baby us born. I was 37 when my DD was born (she's just turned 2 last week) and was in the 'older mother' bracket then! I'm nervous about this pregnancy, because of the statistics saying we and the baby are at increased risk of problems. I'm going for an early scan tonight to hopefully put my mind at ease. My biggest fear at the moment is discovering a mmc.

Hello to everyone else, this thread moves so darn quick it's impossible to keep up. Plus posting on iPhone so I can't scroll down to lol at prev posts when I'm posting. But I so remember that Green had good news, so congrats to you.

Hope all well

ceeej · 02/11/2011 09:20

First sleep failure this morning, woke up at 5am feeling really sick, banana improved things but couldn't get back to sleep. Was excited to see your great news greengoose then just read a book until the DH woke up.

ecstatica I can't believe your ILs asked about conception, that's so rude.

I've just been for my first attempt at a run since the nausea set in. Felt surprisingly OK but had my HRM set to beep if I went over 70% which resulted in it being a very slow jog. Also I need a new sports bra already, this could get expensive!

On the subject of boobs, I've always been a bit lopsided but I swear my larger boob has grown by two cup sizes while the smaller one has only grown by one, DH thinks it's hilarious, I'm really hoping they even out again at some point!

growyourown77 · 02/11/2011 10:05

ceeej - I'm with you on the lop-sided boobs! I expected some odd things to happen when I got pregnant, but there are so many more than I could have imagined.

And I was on 60% effort when exercising yesterday, still getting out of breath! :) I felt good after, but pretty achy today, esp my back. Think I need to warm up/down more than usual.

Kveta · 02/11/2011 10:32

DH and I had a strop this morning because I asked him to get stuff out the fridge for me so I didn't chuck, and he was all 'FFS woman, can't you just hold your breath for a minute?' which he soon twigged was the wrong response. Grr. Seriously, if men got morning sickness too, how soon do you think a proper remedy would be found?!

still sick today, and knackered too, as DH was up and down all night muttering about the heating, and DS was up and down with a cold. My back is aboslutely killing me today too, not sure why. I am going to have to start pushing for earlier nights though, as 9.30 last night proved to be too late! a few 9 pm nights should sort me out a bit better, hopefully.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 11:29

Well I've slipped into seriously BAD habbits, dp has been off work, between contracts and letting me sleep, I'm utterly exhausted so I'm really grateful for it but its one of those vicious circles, going to sleep 11-12ish and sleeping 12hrs and feeling tired ALL day and starting again. I'm going to get a good supplement today and tons of fresh fruit and give myself a shake!!!

Sorry to hear everyones suffering so badly with the sickness/nausea, mines not as bad as previous pregnancies and I am SO grateful for it.

I'm off to my ils thurs to sat, another weekend attempting to hide it :(

Exstatica I've had the same with my mum, she just 'your joking' when I told her and has said nothing since and any conversation that hints in that direction she changes :(

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 11:32

Kveta- dp uttered the unforgivable "your pregnant not ill" once when pregnant with ds, he'll never risk it again.

Kveta · 02/11/2011 12:08

yes, the old 'pregnancy is not an illness' line. Well, true for some, less true for others. I have felt absolutely ghastly now for, what, 3, 4 weeks? Exhausted, sick, loss of appetite, constipated, achey, weepy. If you had those symptoms without a bun in the oven, you'd be at the GPs daily until you got a diagnosis.

DH and I (when not snapping at eachother!) have decided at last what we're doing for christmas. My parents have been nagging us to go to them, but the thought of a 12 hour+ drive (only because the M6 is a bitch) with a narky toddler in the back, in potentially shitty weather, has been putting us off (we did it when DS was 12 weeks old and it was horrendous). Then my elderly grandmother (think Margaret Thatcher but more right wing) wanted to stay with us, but we don't have room, so looking for a B+B near us -nowt available over christmas now, we have left it too late. then we were muttering about FIL coming, but last time he did, the weather meant his flight was diverted to Liverpool (we are near London!) then bus down to us - all without him speaking a word of English, at the age of 62, in a blizzard. He doesn't ever want to travel again.

So now it looks like it will just be the 3 of us, and I have decided on a menu (czech main course that we had at our wedding!) followed by trifle, because I love trifle. No turkey, no christmas pudding, no Queen's speech! A copy of Muppet Christmas Carol to watch and a nice long walk with DS in the morning to wear him out whilst the meal cooks. I can't wait!! Getting all excited about it already :o

pokemommy · 02/11/2011 12:18

Kveta your christmas sounds like heaven!!! No speech and Muppet's Christmas Carol !! (I will probably be watching that on xmas eve as I have a christmas films day)

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 02/11/2011 12:44

kveta you couldn't have put it better! I have little tollerance for sil people who use pregnancy as an excuse but omg I feel horrendous this time! I'd just like a little understanding.

Your christmas sounds great :)

We have pils for the first time ever and I just know they will be late and severely annoy me.

Warlin · 02/11/2011 12:47

Hi All

Feeling really really tired today and very anxious (and typical work has been so busy and I don't have the energy for it). Can't stop thinking about my scan tonight.

I'm only 7+5 so not sure what can be seen but am really dreading any bad news. Will either be over the moon or totally gutted. Dreamt last night that there was no heartbeat.

We are going privately so still have my NHS scan next week....hoping that I might not need the back up but panicking in case nothing can be seen.
Am I really pregnant or have I been dreaming all this time????? :)

pokemommy · 02/11/2011 12:55

warlin What you have put is exactly how I feel... all my what ifs (most of them silly) What if there is no heartbeat, what if they can't see anything, what if I am one of those strange women who want to get pregnant so much they have caused a phantom pregnancy and tricked the (3) tests into thinking I am when I am not... do we all go through this then?

pokemommy · 02/11/2011 12:56

Although saying that my nausea and giant aching boobs suggest otherwise :(

millyv · 02/11/2011 12:57

Afternoon ladies!

Writing this lying in bed, started feeling I was coming down with a cold and by last night it had properly taken hold, woke up in the middle of the night in a right state- I hate being ill and not being able to take any tablets, feeling very sorry for myself right now- sorry for the moan!

Hope everyone else is ok, good luck with the scans I'm sure you will all receive good news, I'm jealous I haven't even got a date yet!

Off to have a shower now, have to try and sort myself out!

Have a good day everyone! Xx

Carty80 · 02/11/2011 13:30

Afternoon everyone

Good luck for later warlin, fingers crossed for you.

Well, I have had no symptoms since Monday evening, no sickness yesterday or today, no gagging, no sore boobs, even fed the dog earlier and his food didn't make me heave. My belly is very tender too so I called my mw and she has got me an early scan tomorrow morning. I can't remember symptoms stopping with other 2 and after looking on Dr Google (I know I shouldn't have!) I paniced and called her. I didn't think she would say about getting a scan, just wanted some words of reassurance but she called them and they could fit me in.

I am trying to think to myself I am being silly, had 2 healthy pregnancies before, no history of mc and am still youngish at 31 but for some reason something isn't sitting well with me about this. Although tomorrow hopefully I will be proved wrong and it will just be my crazy hormones!

Sorry about the little essay, DH at work and don't want to speak to rl people about it!

milly sorry your feeling rough, it is horrible being poorly and not being able to take anything. I get really bad allergies and hayfever and its a nightmare not being able to take my antihistamine tablets!

kveta Your Xmas sounds just lovely. I have managed to get it to be just the 4 of us this year and I can't wait!

Have a good day all.xx

Haylsb · 02/11/2011 14:31

Hi Ladies.

Regarding the supplement question. Pregnant women should be taking DHA (short for docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid) is found in every cell in our bodies. It is critical for brain, eye and central nervous system development and functioning. Taking DHA supplements produced from marine algae is therefore a safe way for pregnant women to boost their fatty acid stores
