Well done handdived! Speedy! Grin

Glad Mhairi slept a bit Edward.

Still here - 41+2. Induction booked for weds when will be 42+0. TMI but just had very snotty discharge with pink tinge, plus lots of cramps and a few things which I think are contractions (you'd think I'd remember what they are like Smile).

Wondering whether to get DH to start his 2.5 hr commute home early .....

MamaMaiasaura · 28/10/2011 14:43

Bumpsadaisie - I had show like that day I delivered Grin fingers crossed this is it for you xx

MamaMaiasaura · 28/10/2011 14:51

Mrs hende Shock poor you and thank goodness no one hurt. Def get your mum to help xx

Edward - not used dummy with any of my 3 but ds1 & ds2 used to feed for long periods, stimulating milk supply (like getting their order in). It does settle and will get easier. Has your milk come in yet? Also it is painful to start tho I'd check latch is right with midwife. Is this your first baby? Resleep - sympathy there as I had very little for first few days. She's now sleeping 3/4 hour stretches at night and some in day. I know it's hard (esp when you have older children) but sleep when baby sleeps. It's a Shock to the system to start but will get easier. Xx

MamaMaiasaura · 28/10/2011 14:54

Handcuffs and countrymama - GrinGrin congratulations. Glad they were quick labours. Looking forward to birth stories. Found my quick labour intense but amazing too. Kind of want a 4th now! Lol Wink

Babc - that sounds like a show and good stuff! Dh and I got intimate the morning after sweep and stretch and I reckon it helped move things along Wink

CheshireDing · 28/10/2011 15:05

Congratulations Handdived and Countrymama, a couple of new boys for hte bus :)

Sounds like things will be happening for you soon Bumps, that's what my show was like, good luck :)

MrsH just get your Mum round to do the cleaning and re-washing of stuff and organising new ceiling as soon as poss and you go for a coffee :)

supergirl1 · 28/10/2011 15:42

aw, congratulations country mama and handdived! lovely births - i'll have one of them please!

Mrs H - what a nightmare! hope you are managing to get cleared up alright. I agree with cheshire - you get your feet up and let everyone else do the cleaning up!

Bumps and Babs - having exactly the same discharge after my sweep - lets hope that means its soon for all of us! And I agree about the contractions bumps - I think I've been having them all week, they're pretty painful at times but I'm not sure - again, I've had them before so you'd think I'd remember! But they haven't increased in intensity and come and go all the time :(
Awen - I'm ready, i'm desperate, I'll try anything!

Jane4321 · 28/10/2011 21:43

Congratulations country mama and handdived!

Good luck to everyone who may be giving birth this weekend.

I'm going to be induced tomorrow, got to be at the hospital at 10am so will let you know once my LO is here!

40+10

CheshireDing · 28/10/2011 22:30

Good luck tomorrow Jane :)

LittlePebble · 28/10/2011 23:22

Congratulations handdived and countrymama
Good luck Jane
mrsh sorry to hear about your ceiling! What on earth caused it? Have you managed to get straight today?
Thinking of all of you still waiting hope the births happen for you soon x

SconesForTea · 29/10/2011 00:17

Congratulations CountryMama and HandDived on your baby boys! I can't believe you both had 2hr labours wow. Looking forward to names and birth stories.

MrsH you poor thing Shock I do hope you've called in the cavalry. What on earth happened?

Good luck Jane with your induction today... And good luck to Bumpsadaisie it sounds like it may be starting for you. Hope yours get going, BabC and supergirl.

Edward I didn't use a dummy until DD was a few weeks old but my mum has always been very briskly dismissive of nipple confusion, 'in her day' the babies were taken off the mums and fed by bottle during the night from day one (so the mums could sleep Envy) and 'none of us got confused'. Up to you but i'd be tempted to try one if you're desperate.

I went to bed at 9pm tonight but woke for my first wee at 11pm and couldn't get back to sleep Hmm I know from bitter experience I can lie there for hours so I thought, sod it, I'll catch up on MN and then lie there for hours

41w today

Well done on the 2 hour labours! Sounds like you'll be very soon Bumps.
Jane I'll be thinking of you today :)
Mrs H - what a shocker. Hope the cavalry arrives soon.
Scones and supergirl _ hope it won't be too long for you.

Feeling really heavy and ready to drop yesterday for the first time. I've done all the jobs that were essential and have now just had enough so hopefully not too long now. Mad bouncing on the ball yesterday with DH shouting not yet wriggler I need to get the bathroom painted tomorrow.

39+6 today

pinkpainter · 29/10/2011 09:06

Madeleine is now 3 days old - finding everything much more relaxed and easier than I did with my first DD - also feeling much happier - I was very anxious and upset last time. The hormones haven't kicked in yet, but still hoping that these next few months will be a lovely, happy experience.

A couple of tips for those who haven't yet had their babies and are intending to bf - make sure you have your little finger nails cut, you will need these fingers to break bad latches and won't want to hurt your baby by putting your finger nail in their mouth. I made this mistake!

My milk has just started to come in - I feel absolutely enormous, and have cabbage leaves stuffed inside my bra!!! :o - Very funny and a bit smelly, but the cold leaves feel brilliant at relieving the pain.

MrsH - What a nightmare!! Hope you have got help and sorted it all out.
Country and Hand - Sounds like a trend for 2 hour births as mine was just a bit longer than this too. Congratulations to you both with your little boys.
Good luck Jane and to everyone else still on the bus.

Will type up my birth story soon....

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 29/10/2011 09:20

So here is my birth story.

Woke up at about 2am with abdominal pains. Thought it wss the chinese curry from the previous night. Got up about 2.30 went to the loo and sure enough a little bit of diarrohea. However cramping didn't stop, in fact got worse.

At this point thought may be labour but really thought just bowel problems! Cramps were fast and running into each other. Got off the toilet and started walking around a bit. Cramps were more like contractions at this point. But there wasn't much rest between them so I still wasn't sure.

Anyway they were very painful so thought whatever bet wake DH and go to the hospital. Woke him and he took one look at me and said we'll go now. I started faffing about getting changed, whilst doubled over in pain Hmm. He basically told to stop being daft and get in the car.
This was about 3.45am by then.
So had a contraction at the top of the stairs and then one outside front door and then one by the time we got the end of the road!

DH bless him drove like the wind although he did think I was overreacting when I said I need to push and Oh there are my waters gone. So he passed me his phone and I rang the delivery suite who between contractions said they'd meet me at the door.

A few jumped red lights later got to the hospital. Got out of the car midwives there with wheelchair asking me how I'd like to sit int it. I said baby is coming now. One push head was out next push baby out. It was like you see in the soaps! They rushed baby inside into the warmth and all I heard was DH saying oh we've got a baby boy! Placenta delivered inside a few mins later.

2nd degree tearing and some very painful after birth pains which tbh was worse than the labour! Baby been monitored for last 24hrs for blood glucose - all fine. Just a few issues breat feeding - v. painful.

Altogether a lot easier than DS1 and feeling much fitter 24hrs later.

pinkpainter · 29/10/2011 10:10

Hand - Wow!!! Good thing you got to the hospital in time, even if you did have your baby outside - amazing!! Bet you couldn't believe how quick and easily he came out. It's all a bit of a shock isn't it!

I'm same as you - v painful bf - the midwife came to see me again yesterday just because of bf, which really helped as she reassured me that I'm doing a good job, just need my nipples to toughen up. I keep putting the lansinoh on and taking paracetamol....hope it gets better soon. Apparently with your 2nd they do toughen up quicker so hope you are ok soon too.

BabCNesbitt · 29/10/2011 10:15

Blimey, HandDived, that sounds dramatic! Sounds like you were remarkably calm, but it must have been Shock!

Trudyla · 29/10/2011 10:27

My word handdived. That sounds dramatic. Actually I'm really scared of ending up like that cos everyone keeps telling me this one is gonna be quick.

DD was 20 hours from water breaking till delivery, but only 8 hours of actual contractions. And my mum says that I was there within 3 hours (I'm her second). Babysitters for DD will need at least 1.5 hours to get here, so I hope I'm not gonna do a you or even have a car birth [hshock]

Good luck for today Jane!

To all who are experiencing bf pain longer than the "normal" toughening up phase: Try taking high doses of magnesium. I was in pain feeding DD for 17 weeks and it would not get better even though latch and everything was OK. Midwife kept saying I should take magnesium but I only took a low dosage. Then a bf counsellor told me to take 1000mg a day (not all at once as the body can only take so much each time). 1000 was a bit too much for me but I took 125mg 4 times a day and within 2 days! all the pain had gone and I was happily breastfeeding. So it was kind of a miracle cure for me and I urge you all to try it [hsmile]

Good luck.

Bumpsadaisie · 29/10/2011 11:57

Gorgeous baby Thomas Abraham born 4am this morning - 9lb 4oz. Waterbirth for most of it, got out for exam, suddenly massive pushing urges and got on birthing stool and out he came. Smile Smile

MamaMaiasaura · 29/10/2011 15:45

Bumps - GrinGrin congratulations. Love the name Thomas (my eldest ds name). Fantastic nearly all water birth

Hand - wow, just wow. Good job you got there. Amazing having quick labour tho isnt it? All a bit surreal. Fantastic birth story to retell when he's older xx

LittlePebble · 29/10/2011 18:19

Congratulations bumps x

Engelsmeisje · 29/10/2011 18:25

wow scallops! super dramatic! glad you're okay.

Congratulations bumps and all the other babies I've missed.

cassnstar · 29/10/2011 18:36

I was due 27th but they wanted to induce me on 26th. Went in early am, checked over and said cervix very back and quite soft but couldnt tell anything else. Propess went in at 11 and by 12 i was strongly painfully contracting and regularly like with a few mins apart by about 3. Only allowed tens which i'd brought with me thank god. This went on all day and all wed night, long 1-2 minutes hardly a gap. Had a ve in early evening and said maybe 1cm. Midnight said 1-2 with difficulty. Hubby had gone home at 8, lovely doula kept me company until after midnight. The midwife to deliver me slept unknown to me in a room on the ward. We have been neighbours for 7 years but it was planned at tge end that if i wasnt having a home birth she would look after me at the hospital where she works. In the end i was induced at the beginning of some off duty days so she only had me to look after, particularly for the actual delivery.
By thursday morning i was in bits, didn't think i'd manage anything but a caesarian, got my dh in for support. Was in such agony! But they'd all hatched a plan to leave the propess in until lunchtime thurs and then attempt an ARM providing it was possible. Funnily enough thurs morning contractions changed again and had 3-5 minute breaks where i managed to doze slightly. So midday we were surprised when we heard we were going to the delivery room. Midwife on duty ve'd and said 3 and nearly fully effaced and then quickly broke the membrane. My doula then arrived and my friend midwife and then within a few minutes Proper labour began. Fully upright with tens operated by my doula, dh pressing on pressure points on my sacrum ( my problem area) and me totally on a high from entonox i took an hour and half of dancing to loud music before i had to push. My midwife was on the floor to monitor the baby through the contractions, but no constant monitoring which consultant had wanted yay!! Had horrific lower spine pressure towards end and was scared baby had gone oP but took heart from all the encouragement i was getting from douka and midwife, shouted a bit ( not done that before in other two births) and for first time def had ring of fire . My midwife knew i'd had a very quick 2nd stage and delivery and then very unhappy baby for previous delivery so everything was very well controlled. 2nd midwife came in and at 1326 Alfred George was born, from standing/half squatting position with his left hand up by his head like superman. He looked huge when they put him near me on the bed and we all guessed his weight. Midwife got it totally right, 10 lbs 2 oz and 58cm long!!! Within half an hour he was latched on, i didnt need ant stitching, not bad for a 40 year old with a twelve year gap between 2 son and 3 son. He fed for 45 minutes brilliantly. I then ended having not dramatic but definite pph, which thought maybe retIned placenta but was just lots of clots. Ended up with extra injection and ocytocin drip and saline. All fine now but still in hospital as Alfie initially had low blood sugars which we've improved but then turned out needing phototherapy for haemalytic disease induced jaundice. Nastier than normal jaundice so paediatricians have been absolutely fab and have a private room and probably wont be out until monday. Been quite worried and only slept 5 hrs in last three days/Nights so totally knackered but totally bonding with my gorgeous big boy!!

Mimatchin · 29/10/2011 19:34

Just to say hello to everyone I 'll try to have a good read tonight of what happened so far.
