OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 10:08

Well at least you get some good time together this weekend - and glad to know you're on the mortgage :-)

I get very involved with you lot and worry about you all :)

Oeisha · 13/10/2011 10:48

Bless you cakes!
Talking of weird dreams. I had a steamy one about Rowan Atkinson the other day Hmm. It was him (name, persona) but not relaly him physically (shorter, skinnier, with facial hair). All I remembered of it was that it was pretty interesting, and started with my lying on my belly a sofa staring at him as he read a book...

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 12:14

shonno OH and I have been having similar wedding conversations. I think we will be going oeisha's route of registry office then lunch some time in November. We've both been married before and I can't bear the attention so we thought why should we stress about it. We've served notice etc just got to pick a date. Wink

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 13:04

Yay parsley - that's lovely :-)
Will you at least get a new frock?!

Gosh I'm hungry today. I had a BLT with turkey bacon (weird stuff) and then half a cheese and tomato toastie and could probably eat both of them again! Better put another loaf of bread in the breadmaker if I'm going to carry on at this rate!

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 13:13

I might get a new frock Wink

Not sure where to start to fit my fat belly in one though....

trubble · 13/10/2011 13:15

Have got my 28 wk appt this afternoon. Ok so I cocked up and I'm actually only 27+1 but hopefully that won't be a problem! Serves me right trying to be clever and book it after my week 16 check.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 13:30

Parsley - depends how bothered you are by its colour. If not very then JoJo, Isabelle Oliver and Asos are good for nice maternity frocks. If you want something more bridal then this is absolutely beautiful, but not sure how weddingy you want to go! You can hire maternity wedding dresses from here, but the prices seem about the same as to buy...
Wait! Stop Press! this site has the best maternity dresses I've ever seen, and most of them are cream or pastel shades that would be perfect for a wedding. I especially love the 'Grace' dress in ivory, which would be perfect for a more informal wedding and is not too bridal, so you could wear it again for other events. The only prob is that these dresses are a leetle more costly (between £150 and £500) - still cheaper than most wedding dresses mind...

trubble I have mine at 27+4 because my MW is on holiday the week after! :-)

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 13:35

cakes I think I love you Grin

Thank you so much for that last site it's fab :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 13:43

I know - and actually, this dress at £165 isn;t a bad price and is perfect for a second wedding, as well as being quite useful for other events.

And so happy I could help - I love wedding dresses. I actually designed mine and I adore helping other people with theirs (evening dresses too, but wedding dresses are special because of the amount of expectation)

Do you think you'll go for one of those? What do the rest of you think?

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 13:56

That's the one that caught my eye - in fact I also really like this one but I think it's a bit expensive and less versatile than the lace one

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 14:31

That is incredibly beautiful, but 3 times the price and you'd only get the one wear out of it really, wouldn't you? I wish I'd spent less on my wedding dress now - kept the money for our marriage instead of our wedding, but there's no telling a 24 year old!

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 14:47

That was my thought. For my first wedding I spent a fortune and bought a dress I could dye and "convert" later. I never did and just took it to a charity shop in the end.

I might even try the chocolate version of the same dress rather than ivory - it will go with my colouring better and be more adaptable.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 14:52

How about the chocolate dress with an ivory bolero and then you could have a chocolate and cream hat. Pretty! You will post photos for us, won't you?

shonnomanom · 13/10/2011 16:10

We have planned each size wedding to the finest detail. I love planning things! We will have a restful office do as its much cheaper and their is less spotlight on the groom. Very much an issue. I just need to push him a bit more. Oiesha, he's a workaholic its not pregnancy related although that doesn't help matters.
Contests parsley and well done cakes on the dress shopping. Some beautiful dresses on that website. I would go for one that can be worn again definitely. Thanks ladies, its good to vent sometimes isn't it x

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 16:49

lol - did your phone have too much input into that message shon? I found it both amusing and a nice challenge to guess whether a word had been replaced and what it might have been! :)

shonnomanom · 13/10/2011 17:03

Lol Grin just trying to keep the brain challenged cakes ! Restful sb registry. Contests sb Congrats. The joke is is that I did proof read! Lol

ParsleyLion1 · 13/10/2011 18:04
Grin

Just been to my consultant appt. All looking good and heard squiggler's hb againSmile

I have to have another appt at 38 wks and a scan at 36 wks to check all ok but otherwise back to mw care.

From an age perspective he said as long as no other issues the only extra thing is that they might induce me at 40 or 41 wks rather than the usual 42 wks.

SlightlyScrambled · 13/10/2011 18:09

Thanks Shonno for the PGP link. I've been doing a lot of research on the net about it and great to have a comprehensive guide to it. Especially the labour positions in pictures.

I'm feeling better about it all after DH did a bit of nosing around on Finnish forums and found that it's the whole maternity system here that's at fault for not recognising PGP as a treatable condition. But he also found the exercises that I need to do from a reputable physio website so I can do them at home and get started on building up my core muscles.

That is interesting that the BMI cutoff is 30 in the UK. I mightn't have worried so much about it beforehand if I'd know that. I guess every country picks their own cutoff for testing.

On the wedding front, Shon I hope that your DP pulls through for you.

Oeisha [hgrin] at your dream about Rowan Atkinson!

Better go now and do my exercises. Feel so much more positive about it all by having something to focus on than just trying to wish it away.

Oeisha · 13/10/2011 18:14

OOOH! Parsley Wedding! Grin You never know shon it might be catching???

Just as an indicator of tiredness, shon your message made perfect sense until cakes pointed it out. Confused

As another indicator of tiredness...almost burnt the house down it turns out. Left a pan on the hob since 1130, got in about 15mins ago. On a very low heat, but EEEK!!!!! Sad

Nothing much else to report. Super tired and another driving lesson tomorrow. Migh seriously have to think about abandoning them. Not the attention span of a gnat at the moment.

Oeisha · 13/10/2011 18:24

OOH! the hsmiles are back!!!!! [hsmile] [henvy] Hmm [hwink]

Oeisha · 13/10/2011 18:24

bugger. [hhmm]

Deesus · 13/10/2011 18:50

Sorry to hear all you ladies who have PGP - hope you feel better soon.

More woe for me at work - I'm currently seconded as a team leader and the permanent vacancy is being advertised any day now. Told my boss I was going to apply....his response "why would you do that? if you weren't pregnant I'd expect you and you'd be the preferred candidate but why would I employ someone who's not going to be around" along with "if you do apply i won't look at your application form" and "i wouldn't give you an interview". I am so [hangry]!

Unfortunately being pg I just keep crying about it and not being able to sleep [hsad]

Have written to HR about it anyway but it isn't a nice atmosphere to have to work in.....

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 18:58

lol just generally at the above.

I was watching Supersize vs Superskinny and apparently a 'normal' BMI is anything from 20 - 25. So actually, 25 is within the normal range here. Go figure.

I hate BMI - they take no account whatsoever of bone density and general build - I'm a classic Mesomorph - can build muscle easily and have a sturdy bone structure, but tend to run to fat if I don;t exercise. My sister is classic ectomorph - skinny skinny skinny with slender bone structure, so even though we're the same height she weighs about 7 stone and me at my very slimmest weighed about 11 stone.

Apparently my ideal weight is 9 and 1/2 stone, which is absurd, because after 3 months of glandular fever (aged 18) following an eating and exercise disorder I weighed about 10 stone and looked gaunt and ill.

It continually infuriates me that no account of this is taken when measuring my BMI and when I was younger I had a massive complex.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 19:01

Deesus - x-post. So sorry to hear about that. How absolutely infuriating - and surely it's discriminatory?! God, sometimes this whole being a woman thing is just so frustrating. No man would be discounted for a promotion just because he was about to become a dad, but because of the biology of it - I hope HR are helpful, but if not try the papers??

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/10/2011 19:01

Actually - I think what he said is plain old illegal - any witnesses?
