Here we go ladies. A shiney new thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Moobee · 21/10/2011 15:45

Hi,

giraffe Thinking of you today.

So sorry to hear of all of you suffering SPD and various aches. I'm managing OK at the minute but beginning to get more breathless and tired. Bending down and doing up shoes is soon going to be off limits too.

For the Boots bag, I waited six weeks for my voucher to come through (I'm still waiting for the official boots card) but it just arrived this morning. Took long enough!

Ghost Sorry to hear that the midwives weren't more sympathetic. I rang up in tears a few weeks ago saying I felt very stressed and it was just a quick phone call with the advice to take a couple of days off if I could. I wonder if stress is considered par for the course? Your accident cutting your tummy made me wince - gosh, definitely need to take it easy! After my stool incident though i know how hard it is making allowances for a big bump that's not usually there.

cakes did you used to live in Coventry? That's my home town and I went to Warwick Uni too. The healthcare there is shocking - I do worry when any of my family are ill. That's very kind of your offer to come round. :)

Fish that fancy dress faux pas is amazing - not much actually makes me laugh out loud but that did! :D

Sorry to hear you have GD Knittie. I get my results next week. Most women in my family have had it though and I started with a BMI of 30 so I'm not hopeful.

Welcome Bumpity! Sorry to hear you're having builder woes. Thanks for the comments about my kitchen, and parsley we've only got one more week of this (so two weeks in total). It was a good plan to put your stuff in storage. I'm living in a sea of boxes which is massively depressing but thankfully (hopefully) short lived. The builder is doing an amazing job. He's also reasonably priced, punctual and a really good bloke. Amazing!

karmanna I love Sweden. My husband and I have talked about moving there and I even started learning Swedish at one point! It might just be a pipe dream though, we'll see. I love Stockholm - I think it's one of my favourite cities in the World.

Oeisha your hospital appointment sounds annoying but it's best to be safe with these things.

Oh, I mentioned this ages ago, but I had to interview for my own job three weeks ago as it was upgraded. I just found out I got it, which means I get a pay rise! Wheee!

Brownwolf · 21/10/2011 15:55

moobe congrats on getting your payrise!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 21/10/2011 16:01

Brownwolf - I got a free sample of Floradix in my Bounty pack, so I guess it must be OK to use in pregnancy!

Oeisha - got heartburn last night, then again this lunchtime so conducted a little test for you and can indeed confirm that almonds help ease heartburn. So now I have two weapons in my arsenal! Thanks :-) Tescos are doing a special on Natco lamonds - huge big bag (250g I think?) for £2, so quite reasonable really.

On the tmi front - I am not suffering with constipation at all... quite the opposite in fact - very badly. Not sure why, unless it's all the stomach clenching I'm doing as per the physio's instructions... Gah. Shame I don't need the iron supplements!

I just had a lovely hour-long nap with my cuddly cat. Feel much more stable emotionally now - no more teary outbursts today!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 21/10/2011 16:05

Moobee - congrats! what great news :-D Yes - I'm a Warwick alumnae too - met DH there. Stuck around for a bit, but was so glad to get away - the healthcare was only the tip of the iceberg!

Moobee · 21/10/2011 17:53

Thank you brownwolf and cakes :)

Brownwolf, hope that explains your tiredness. Pregnancy supplements all have iron in too if you wanted to try them, although they may not have the right dosage for someone with anaemia.

Cakes, so when were you at Warwick? I was there from 1995 - 2003.

ParsleyLion1 · 21/10/2011 17:55

Excellent news moobee Grin

I had a call from the MW today. They are booking the bump to have a specialist heart scan due to potential congenital heart issue on OH side. I'm sure it will be fine but I'm a bit confused because the consultant said they would just put a neonatal note in my file to check baby when she is born as he wasn't sure they would be able to see the issue in a scan anyway.

greenlady78 · 21/10/2011 18:33

Hi ladies, I haven't been here in such a long time I probably missed loads of news Sad But read the past few threads and also wanted to suggest to Brownwolf to have a loo at www.boots.com/en/Spatone-Iron-Sachets-28_4933/ spatone. My friend swore by it (I haven't had it myself, but she said it caused no constipation and it tasted fine), so have a look Smile

I have been away as well as I have been so worried, they found sugar in urine in the past two urine tests (a week apart), I did a blood test and blood was fine...but they do not know what is causing the sugar in the urine and that is making me paranoid...google is not always your best friend as I have been reading it can mean the baby is in distress Sad Sad

I am seeing the MW on Tuesday and if they find sugar again I will just flip out!!!!!! So worried and scared and just so conscious of what I eat (and I don't even eat sugar that much at all!!!!!)

Sorry about the post being so down, but I just feel so worried and just want to make sure the little bean is fine!

Take care lovely ladies!!!!! xxxx

ParsleyLion1 · 21/10/2011 20:51

These beans are such a worry - I've googled in sympathy with you greenlady I can't find anything other than potential symptoms of GD which I presume they ruled out with the blood test?

There were a few sites that just seemed to imply that sometimes it just happens. Fingers crossed for you that it just goes on its own on Tuesday.

shonnomanom · 21/10/2011 21:57

Congrats moobee
Hope the give you some decent answers next week greenlady Fx

Still winning in the bump department with my sister. She's more round than bumpish but is really starting to take shape so I reckon Il look tiny next time I see her.
Oh and mum took dd and I to frankie&bennies for dinner tonight. Yum Yum
Just waiting on dp getting home from work so I can get a cuddle before bed x

addictediam · 22/10/2011 07:01

Greenlady, I can't find anything other than gd either. And if it helps dd was showing signs of distress a couple of times while I was pg, (green discharge, slower movements) each time I was sent to hospital where they monitored her or scanned me whilst talking about induction or cs and each time she calmed down and was happy - so they left her where she was. So just because bump is showing signs of distress, doesn't mean your baby is necessarily distressed. But [hugs] to you anyway. Hope you start to feel happier soon.

Nanny01 · 22/10/2011 08:06

Today is a good day focusing on Elliot today as we are going for a 4d scan in just over an hour followed by some shopping at the local nct sale this afternoon. dh is coming and so are all the dc's this am to. Hopefully time for hot choc and doughnuts to celebrate after seeing his face.

Karmanna · 22/10/2011 08:45

Congrats on the payrise mobee. Does that mean you get a better deal when you're off on mat leave? Ooh, you should move to Sweden. :) I've got plenty of friends there who don't speak the language but everyone speaks english and I some of my friends there speak solely english at work.

One of the reasons we're probably looking to move there is the cost of childcare in this country - especially in London. I've worked out that it would eat up about half of my salary, whereas in Sweden there's a cap on how much they're allowed to charge and I would pay about a tenth of what I'd have to pay here - how to people cope? Are we all supposed to have rich husbands who can support us? I'm usually the main breadwinner as DH is 5 years younger than me so has not got as far up on the career ladder.

Nanny good luck with the scan - how exciting!!! :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

skeletonfishbonesandlilacs · 22/10/2011 08:57

Morning all,

Sorry to hear fo your worries greenlady my sis who is due NYE keeps getting sugar in her wee too, they have done the gtt twice on her now but she's not getting a positive result for gd so they are just keeping an eye on her. Her MW dont seem worried if thats any comfort to you.

Moobee lucky you, thats brilliant (not in the least bit jealous Grin)

brownwolf I too can highly recommend spatone ot floradix for that matter. Both are very safe in pregnancy. I have used both those supplements with no ill effects for a long time (i like the taste of floradix). I have a history of endometriosis and aneamia and my iron levels are known to dip quite dramatically at times. 3 days of spatone sorts me out. Take it in a bit of OJ for best effect. No constipation at all.

I wrote a long post last night but my lap top swallowed it up and I simply didn't have the energy to type it all again. Didn't go to baby shower last night I was in too much pain. I'm absolutely fine in the mornings and for a larger proportion of the day but come the eveing, my back flares up, my ribs start to cane me and I just have to go to bed. I am finding a hot water bottle on the ribs is helping at night though which is god send.

I had a growth scan yesterday and my boy already weighs close to 4lb! I finally got ot meet my new consultant. Well, I have had a totally different experience than I had last time. The consultant I am now seeing is not the one I was told it was (she is on maternity leave) but he just so happens to be the guy that delivered my daughter. He and I had a very long and emotional chat about my previous experience, with the aid of my notes, he clearly remembers my daughters birth, he was able to go through with me the decisons he made at the time step by step, he was sympathetic, he totally poo pooed any "NHS rubbish" (his words) about pressure of c sections because of costs. He said " i believe that cost shouldn't come into it, patients are human beings and deserve to be treated as such"

He was not very happy about the previous advice I have had from my old consultant stating that "that is not the direction I would be sending you, I have no problem with c section s if the are indicated which is your case it most certainly is, both for physical health and phsycological satisfation"
So the upshot is that my c section is decided. It will be booked for around my due date between weeks 40 and 41 (might be Friday 13th eek)
Unless I change my mind or go into labour naturally before then, if thats the case, then it might happen naturally. I am so relieved I wept.

mia I thought of you and your problems with getting ELCS and I really think you should try to see someone else.

shonnomanom · 22/10/2011 09:18

Oh fish you must be so relieved, what a comfort to have a nice, understanding consultant.
Enjoy seeing your baby in 4d today nanny [henvy]

Happy Saturday everyone !

Mum2be79 · 22/10/2011 10:23

Hello everyone. There's been a few pages since I was last on and admittedly, I haven't read everyone's posts as I have to dash this morning. Jobs to be done.

DH is ripping off sitting room roof as I type. Parents and PIL are over tomorrow as it's DF's birthday (and my 30 week milestone!). Parents are down for three days to help DH and DM is going baby shopping with me to York. :)

Peanut was super active last night. I had my first FULL NIGHTS SLEEP in 4 months. Woke up at 5:38 with Braxton Hicks. Had them until 8:00am. Dreamgenii is good but I find that by the morning, I'm lying on my back with no support whatsoever. So not sure whether it's doing it's job or not. Confused

Moobee · 22/10/2011 11:45

Thanks everyone! :) I'm so relieved, I love my job! Karmanna, It does mean I get a better deal for my maternity leave too as I get full pay for a while. I'm worrying about childcare costs when I go back too. I'll be taking nine months and then my husband will take three, but beyond that, we'll need to rely on nurseries or childminders. It is expensive and also, I want to make sure the care is as good as possible. It's quite nerve-racking trying to ensure you choose the best option!

I'm still keeping an eye on opportunities in Sweden longer term. I work with science and there's a few new places being planned that I could potentially go to, but that's on a 5+ year basis.

Greenlady - google is never your friend in these circumstances! I've heard it can be one of those things, so try not to worry (although I know how hard that can be myself!)

Fish, my long post I typed this morning disappeared too, so frustrating. It's brilliant that you got a good and understanding consultant, what a relief to know that you can be more in control of things this time. I hope your rib pain improves soon too, is there anything that can be done about that do you know or is it just a case of management and painkillers?

Parsley, it's good that they're being thorough (even if there is only a slight chance of seeing something). Another scan is quite a good chance to check everything is all ok in there too.

Nanny, enjoy your scan today, that is exciting :)

I hope everyone has a good Saturday!

Nanny01 · 22/10/2011 14:03

I had the scan and it defiantly a boy things are more obvious. We had an 30min scan. Elliot is breech with legs up and arm around him. At one point he had his toes in his mouth. we got some good photos but he does seem to have his hands up to his face alot to. The older kids were really interested but the younger 2 were restless. My parents were a bit like the kids it didn't seem to hold their attention for long.

redheadbedhead · 22/10/2011 17:33

Hello everyone
Haven't been on for ages because I've been helping OH sort out decorating stuff, and I have to pretend I'm busy doing stuff so it looks like I'm helping rather than sitting on my laptop Wink There is actually paint on the walls and a carpet booked for next week so it's all starting to happen at last.

Got my boots changing bag this morning - it's a long boring story but basically I think I've accidentally got another voucher pack coming! Hope I can use it again and get another one Grin then i can leave one in the car or something Grin

fish sorry about your ribs - I know now exactly how you feel and it's totally shitty. When you were last pg did it go at some point? or did you have to ride it out til the end? Good news about your c-section though, that consultant sounds great!

fryn we definitely have to sort out that coffee if you're around this coming week - got some news about Whipps HB support.... might be transferring to a different hospital....eeeeeeek.....

ghost sorry about your knives and midwife troubles Sad try and take it easy soon lady.

My best news ever is that I might be getting my brother's cast-off pram, which just happens to be a snazzy ICandy with a car seat and everything - when I was bumbling along looking at old battered Maclarens on Ebay!! Will find out for sure tomorrow when I'm going to my mum's for a mothercare trip and my brothers over in the evening for dinner. I can't quite believe his wife will let me have it, but fingers crossed!!!

Not looking forward to spending a whole day with my mum as we get on pretty badly but she has offered to buy me a cot and hopefully a changing table, so I have to suck up all the stupid comments I'll no doubt have to field all day and give it a go. Wish me luck!

Hope you guys are all well (shitty ribs/PGP/indigestion permitting)

ParsleyLion1 · 22/10/2011 18:13

Good news on the scan nanny01 at least all the DCs have had a chance to meet him already so they are prepared.

ghosteditor · 22/10/2011 18:18

Thanks redhead! SIL is now installed in her own place and have had a lovely afternoon with a friend's 20 month old daughter, plus a nap, so life looks good right now! Am most envious of the iCandy - fingers crossed for you!

And thanks to all you lovely ladies who have said nice things this week - support v. much appreciated. Smile

Oeisha · 22/10/2011 18:38

moobee Yay! on the promo. It's looking less and less likely that I'll get mine, despite promises. Pissed, but at this point, well, I can't be arsed.

What's pissing me off more is that I have now only just got the letter saying 'congrats' and 'as your pregnancy proceeds...give us you MATb1 by 25wks....blahblahblah'...and they indicate that they will be sendfing me information on my pay and options to help me decide on my leave...yeah, thanks. You've got 3 wks...they're gonna get a moody phonecall on Monday...after all, they could have twigged how pg I am and conbined the two packs!!!

nanny :D Half of me loves the idea of a 4d scan, half of me doesn't. Very glad Elliot's behaving though. Just wish I were still that flexible!

fish glad to hear your consultant's thinkng the same as you.

mum2bw re: dreamgenii. I find I'm waking on my back too. My bump obv isn't big enough yet for me to properly wedge into the 'shape', but have so little backpain and my hips/ligaments hurt a lot less than when I lose my temper with DHs snoring and can't wriggle the dreamgenii out when I end up in the spare room...so I figured it must still be doing something.

red That's very proactive of you. All the good intentions today have again been ruined by another friggin headache.

Oeisha · 22/10/2011 21:15

Really :( tonight. No real reason to feel :( just gah!
Going for a walk made headache worse.
Crap night's sleep probably hasn't helped.
Hardly eaten anything too. Maybe half a dozen chips and half a serving of cauli&broccoli. Trying to get through some smoothie now. Though lunch went down ok, so I'm not starving!
Think missy may have moved again as I'm walking more easily and being hoofed up high again, which I suppose it a good thing!
I dunno. Can't seem to slap myself out of it!
Time to put some washing away, have a shower and get an earlyish night. Just hope work isn't a arse tomorrow.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/10/2011 21:43

Moobee - 2001-2002 and then 2004-2007 (health stuff meant I had to go away and come back again) - DH was there from 1997 - 2008 I think

fish - I feel your pain (literally, unfortunately) but I am so so pleased to hear about your experience with the consultant. What a relief that must be for you. xx

ghst - glad your SiL has sorted somewhere to live. That must ease the strain somewhat.

Dh and I have decided that I need to hang up the car keys for now as I keep having lightheaded spells even when sitting down or lying. That means I am now stranded in the house completely and will only be able to go into town if I hire a taxi. I am very sad and frustrated, but driving when dizzy just seems too irresponsible for words. I am in so much pain. The hip stuff seems improved, but now my upper back, shoulders and neck are aching and by the end of the day I just feel so miserable and trapped. I can't believe I might have another 12 weeks of this. For the first time since the sickeness stopped I am miserable about being pregnant.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 23/10/2011 07:41

Sorry for the hysterics last night - was trying to keep a stiff upper lip for DH and let it all out on here instead. Had my first pain free night in about a week and feel lots better for it this morning (though I'm sure I'll be a wreck again by the end of the day). The groin pain is almost completely gone, but I seem to have some lower back pain instead - can't figure out what's going on, but it's far more copeable with, so cheerful Cakes is back and I will not be whining today - I will be sewing. What will you all be up to?

ParsleyLion1 · 23/10/2011 07:54

Morning peopleSmile sorry to hear about everybody's painful days. Sad I went to Pilates yesterday and was thinking that I might ache a bit today but in fact I feel fine.

I also tried to practise my hypnobirthing relaxation but at the moment can't stay awake til the end of the cdBlush

Today I'm hoping the decorator will finish the last bit of decorating in the extension so that the carpenter can finish the kitchen tomorrow and Tuesday. Oh is away today so I am going to paint the bathroom.
