sevensevenseven · 11/10/2011 17:23

Brilliant news oi!!! When do you want to complete by? Do they have anywhere to go yet, you might need to make it clear that your offer is on the condition that they're able to complete ASAP. Ours went through in 6 weeks as the previous owners wanted to be moved by christmas, so it can be done in a hurry.

lalababy · 11/10/2011 17:32

congrats moving is madness but fantastic! DH and I are still settling in since we moved in August. But it is brilliant to have a new place!!!

fusam · 11/10/2011 17:57

Congrats oi, well done for sticking to your guns. Had MW appt yesterday and baby is firmly breech.

For people that have had babies flip at this stage, can you tell when this happens or are they still so small that they can flip flop? I don't have another mw appt for another 6 weeks so I would like to prepare myself for a VBAC in the mean time only if the lo decides to flip over.

msbuggywinkle · 11/10/2011 18:11

fusam you'll feel it! Mine flips every day or two atm and I can feel her head turning very clearly (am 30 weeks)

hawthers · 11/10/2011 18:14

fusam how many weeks are you?

sorry can't help as have a feeling that mini hawthers has gone from breech 22 weeks to head down at 28 and back to breech again at around 30 (although not confirmed).

i think i've read somewhere that they can move up until 36 weeks when they tend to settle but that could also be complete bollocks. hopefully someone who knows can actually give some proper advice

Xiaoxiong · 11/10/2011 18:29

hawthers that's what my MW said too. Mine was head down at 28 week appt but firmly breach at 32 week appt with the GP.

Both have said nothing to worry about in terms of positioning as until 36 weeks or so there's plenty of room for them to flip.

sevensevenseven the house we are going to is empty, and the people buying ours are first time buyers, so - all going smoothly - we could be in in 6 weeks. We'll see, everything is crossed! ...And if we complete around the 8 week stage, my legs will be especially tightly crossed!!!

fusam · 11/10/2011 19:22

I am nearly 29 weeks, hawthers and Ty did you guys feel your lo flipping then? I know it sounds silly but for me to attempt a VBAC, I have to put a lot of ghosts to rest from my last labour v v long labour. It ended in EMCS under GA with DD having an apgar of 2 and pph for me anyway. I just can't even be bothered to go there if I going to end up having an ELCS.

BluebellsintheSpring · 11/10/2011 19:28

Congrats Oi - that's great news! Glad you stuck to your guns.

Xiaoxiong · 11/10/2011 19:54

fusam I can feel really big moves but can't tell which way up it is at any point. I'm 33 weeks on Friday and it's definitely still flipping...

I'm sorry to hear about your previous labour and definitely understand what you mean about not wanting to bother though...unfortunately as a first timer I don't have any helpful advice so hopefully someone else will chime in.

PullyWoolOver · 11/10/2011 19:55

Woo fab news oi you must be thrilled!

Impressed with those if you who can tell which way up your babies are, I have no idea which what way mine is, and whether that wriggling is arms or legs!

Am looking for some nighties/ pyjamas for hospital and beyond, has anyone found any marvels they could recommend? I've been advised to get dark colours for hospital, ideally of the bargainous variety and possibly wearable with company. What did you all wear last time? Any particular shops I should check out?

KateM77 · 11/10/2011 19:59

Congrats Oi glad to hear someone's having a good day!

I'm with figgy on having a shit one. Had to effectively fire someone at work today. First time anything like that's happened to me in my whole career, and only a couple of weeks off from my 'retirement' too (not planning to go back after DC2). Then picked DD up from nursery and had an awful time with her throwing tantrums constantly - she's always really over-tired after nursery, but today seemed on a different scale. DH working late so I had to deal with it on my own. Have a splitting headache and am exhausted but now need to log on to remote access and do some more work :(

mopsytop · 11/10/2011 20:08

Yay Oi - you must be thrilled!

I am wrecked, worked non-stop all day. Draft of chapter more or less there though, one more hour and it'll be good.

No BH yet thank goodness.

Baby moves a lot and I think I can feel it flipping. It is not a very enjoyable feeling, anyone else find that? It's usually when I am walking.

aethelfleda · 11/10/2011 20:13

Hooray oi, that's fab news! Hope the surveys are all good and that tjings go smoothly.

honey and lala, your the amount of iron dose you need depends on how anaemic you are- a small degree of anaemia is very common at this stage due to the blood diluting (you've got 50% more volume than normal!)
Look at your Hb (hemoglobin) number on your blood printout - if it's 11 or below they usually recommend low dose (200mg/day) iron: this is where the midwives' single tablet idea has probably come from. There is a prescription only version of pregnacare called Pregaday that is a bit souped up with 300mg
Of ferrois fumarate in it. If your Hb is 10-11, that's probably all you need (and will give you less constipation than the higher doses). I had pregaday with both my DDs and it was Ok, but my Hb was 10ish.

Some mums find the constipation is too much with 3x day iron: one alternative is Spatone water (but you have to buy it from chemist as it's not on presctiption). It tastes metallic but apparently causes less bunged up-ness. However I don't know how strong it is- if your Hb is less than ten I'd suggest you keep on the iron but ring your gp and ask for a co prescription of a laxative that's pregnancy-safe (lactulose or movicol).

In other news, the attic is NOT cleared but is starting to look a lot better!
hawthers, the reason I'm doing it now is a) nesting, b) a dread that if i don't I'll spend hours furtling for things later and c) we really need to make some space up there!! Plus if I wait much longer I won't bend enough to get up the ladder. I'm still only 29 weeks so am 4 weeks behind a lot of you, hence a bit smaller.

aethelfleda · 11/10/2011 20:20

Ooh, and honey, fab news about the placenta! V happy for you xxx. I've got my scan in 3 weeks and hope mine's
shoved off too, so that I can pursue my home-from-home room delivery dream (not almost in the corridor this time!)

Pully, get yourself a cheap Primark/Tesco/Asda nightshirt for the actual birth, then a couple of button-top pjs or nursing nightshirts from mothercare/anywhere else. Immediately after the birth, hoss the manky cheap one in the bin and put on the nice one. Cue baby Snuggle photos and good BFing access if that's your bag.

figgygal · 11/10/2011 20:36

I too find it a marvel people know where/how baby is lying it's just a big solid mass to me even when the midwife yesterday said he was head down I couldn't see how she knew in the slightest.

Avoiding my mother until tomorrow and then shall commence the "talk" about the planned visit. I don't mind them coming at all bit with space, not knowing when he'll come, wanting some time to recover/ get a routine etc I don't want them here in the house. There's no holiday cottages available nearby unfortunately so hotel research shall commence tomorrow.

mopsytop · 11/10/2011 20:44

Oh figgy I meant to say, I asked my parents to stay in a hotel, as we also have a big lack of space and I know I'd just find it too stressful to have people staying. And they were totally grand about it so it might be fine! Also, remind them that in a hotel they won't be woken up at all hours by a screaming baby. To be honest with you, the idea of having anyone staying, even my lovely parents, when my husband and I are trying to cope with this momentous change in our lives, adjust to our new baby, get to know them etc. is just too stressful. This is a time to be selfish. They can see you loads during the day but just to know you can close the door and have your own space is important. Also, as I said to my mum, I am worried if she is there, I'll be relying on her too much and not getting to know my own baby and trust my own judgement myself. Obviously I want her advice, but I know I'd be tempted just to let her take over if she was here all the time. That's just my tuppence worth, anyway!

mopsytop · 11/10/2011 20:47

Anyone else getting the return of the absolute exhaustion similar to first trimester? It's only quarter to nine and have to go to bed. Only got home an hour and a half ago ... this has been the case for a couple of weeks now. Absolutely wrecked in the evenings. Maybe is something to do with the interrupted sleep - I too turn from side to side and wake up every time, as well as having to go to the loo at least 5 times a night!

aethelfleda · 11/10/2011 20:52

Well, I decided to put my foot down and told my (lovely) S-I-L that I didn't want to host Christmas Day this year. With our extended family there would have been 13 round the table plus baby and we have a small house with only one loo! So plucked up the courage to bail and she was fine with that (phew!)
My Edd is 27th so it just felt too unpredictable. figgy i can't believe they didn't check with you before booking flights!!!

BluebellsintheSpring · 11/10/2011 21:11

Mopsy I'm with you on the exhaustion front - my job involves bringing work home in the evenings but by that time I'm shattered, hence being on Mumsnet and avoiding it! I was going great guns for so long but this last week or so, it has really kicked in. Only 5 weeks to go to maternity leave....think I'll sleep for 3 days when I finish! On the other hand we also have a house move and I have job interview (s), as well as father in law recovering from triple heart bypass last weekend - he lives alone so will need help when he gets out of hospital in the interim, so it's fun times! On the up side, it will make the 5 weeks fly in!

Figgy, hope the mum thing resolves itself tmrw - that really is stressful.

Right I better tackle some of this work - there's only so much avoidance you can do in one evening!

lalababy · 11/10/2011 22:24

Thanks for all the info aethelfleda My hb is 9.5 which means I prob should continue with the iron. Will contact my gp and find out about some pregnancy safe laxatives!!!

lalababy · 11/10/2011 22:25

Also... I can tell that the baby is moving but can't distinguish between head and bottom or flip vs wriggle!!!

LittleMissFlustered · 11/10/2011 22:45

Oi Yay!

figgy I'm on the side of the fence that involves hotel research. And a quiet word about personal space and the fact you are over 18 nowGrin

Laxative/'regulator' talk: fybogel is what I have always been told to use when pregnant. Tastes vile, but works to keep things doing as they ought.

Tiredness. Yes. But it's mixed in with my annual cleaning urges. I do autumn, not spring and if you add in nesting I am fighting a never ending battle >_< I'm getting one or two small out of house jobs a day sorted at the minute, and plan to spend next week getting up close and personal with several rolls of bin liners and a skip. For those of you holding down a full time job as well as all this kind of crap, I salute. I would be dead. I practically was with my first, and I only had a retail job so it's not as if I had responsibilities like most of you guys do. Hot chocolate for everyone!

Had my flu jab yesterday, and for the first time ever I think it is going to wipe me out. I have a headache, my throat appears to have been subjected to a thorough sandblasting, my neck and shoulders ache and my asthma has ramped it up a gear. going to be a fun few days!

In more cheery news, I get my new phone in a couple if days, and I am bidding on a nice bag on eBay to use as a nappy bag/handbag.

Right. Essay over. Off to bed with some paracetamol and knowledge that I'm trying to keep proactive.

OiMissus · 11/10/2011 23:32

Listened to natal hypnotherapy cd in bed again. 1 2 3 relax. But the baby is doing his own rendition of Stomp in there. Still going. Cd finished. Yawn!!! DH away again. Nooooo sleeeeeep. :(

Earwigwam · 12/10/2011 07:10

Having woken up far too many times last night and missing the reminders we were giving each other I'm just here to say squeeze those pelvic floors!
