Bluebells sounds stressful, wd hate to have to do even more work when I got home.

started doing pelvic floors in the shower every morning - at least that's once a day regular.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 12/10/2011 08:13

Hey Ladies

Good to see your all well :) sorry not been posting RL stuff getting in the way. When I get home from work I just want to put my ever so swollen feet up and sleep - although not to much chance of that!

not long to go now - am starting to count down lol. haven't even started my Xmas shopping yet ooppss oh well.

hope everyone has a good day.

msbuggywinkle · 12/10/2011 08:13

Morning!

Am going to rant about DP's boss now. He has started ringing DP at about 8pm to basically moan about how tired he is. He thinks DP will be sympathetic because we're parents too. They have one DC and can work flexibly or take days off as they choose. DP has not had a day off work for 9 months now, we are bloody exhausted and yet have to spend half an hour most evenings with him going on about being tired. If he does it tonight I will be taking the phone off DP and growling "so go to fucking bed then" down it.

So yes, first trimester style tiredness has hit!

OiMissus · 12/10/2011 08:53

Good rant msbuggy.

Can I have a minor grumble?
My sister asked me what we needed for the baby last week, she'd like to get us something. Very generous, and very lovely - happy me. So, I started to think about it and came up with a list of things we needed still - a complete list from the more expensive items such as monitors, to the more fun stuff cuddly towels with hoods, and bath props at around £20, down to little bits. And I said that as it's my birthday in a couple of weeks, choose something off the list for that - as I need nothing personally - and this would help me out.
A travel cot was not on the list. I don't need one. I have a moses basket for the short term, and maybe will need a travel cot when junior goes to my mums from 4 mths old. My sister visited at the weekend, and she mentioned travel cots. I said, I don't need one, the other stuff is more important.
She's just sent me an email to tell me she's just bought me a travel cot.
?? why?? It's not like she's young and silly, she's 40.
I'm grateful - kind of - but what am I going to do with it? I have a crib upstairs, a moses basket for downstairs, we have a big cot on order for the nursery - you know, we're adequately provisioned for in the baby sleep department.
What a stupid waste.
(Turned into a rather big grumble, didnt it.)

mopsytop · 12/10/2011 09:18

Hey Oi, that is v. annoying. It's weird the way people don't listen, isn't it? However, on the plus side, maybe the travel cot will come in useful later on down the line?

hawthers · 12/10/2011 09:52

I'm with everyone on the tiredness front - i'm exhausted which means i get emotional so add in the pg hormones and basically i cry at everything. oh dear.

fusam i have no idea when the baby is flipping over. the only reason i know which way up it is, is that i have regular growth scans. am hoping for a head down for a VBAC too so will be hoping that it settles into that position as well.

not getting kicked so much anymore but more bean doing elaborate yoga poses which involve an excessive amount of stretching of my bump in different directions. can't tell what is going on though so relieved no one else can identify hands/feet/heads - thought i was missing something!

earwigwam darn it i haven't done any pelvic floor exercises since someone last mentoined it on here - eek

aethelfleda am just under 30 weeks and no way could i contemplate getting into the loft - all credit to you!

HoneyLovesCake · 12/10/2011 10:24

aethelfleda thanks for the advice, very useful. My MW is a bit scatty, she didn't even realise I was anaemic until I pointed it out & she looked up the results but didn't put a printout in my file...I think my Hb was around 9ish so pretty low; I really don't mind taking them though as I was constipated before I started them & now I'm not :o Also, I'm exhausted but I was like a zombie before I was prescribed them so I know they're doing something for me. I had cut down to 2 x 200mg + 1 pregnacare (1 more iron than MW said) but now I'm thinking I might go back to 3 x 200mg...they make me soooo thirsty though. Crossing my fingers for your scan :)

figgy I'm shocked your parents have invited themselves to stay; seems really inconsiderate to me but if you don't mind seeing them around that time I agree a hotel or B&B would be the best option...don't think you should be troubled with finding one though; I would call your mum & tell her to start looking for one; after all she had no problem finding flights Wink

Oi CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :o So exciting. It's such a lovely house with so much potential; I do love a project :) As for your sister & the travel cot I would ask her to return it or send you the receipt with it since you made it perfectly clear you didn't want one & there's lots of things you do want & need. I don't have any siblings but I assume you can be really honest with her without hurting her feelings? If she'd bought it as a surprise gift that wouldn't be so bad but she mentioned it & you said you didn't want one so what was she thinking???

I'm in a foul mood this morning if anything I write sounds a bit harsh, sorry. Found out yesterday that DP's mum has cancer AGAIN. She got the all clear just 1 month ago after a round of chemo & now it's back & I'm just feeling really, really angry Angry

plupervert · 12/10/2011 10:44

Hey, well done, OiMissus! They must have been trying it on, they gave in too quickly for not having expected that...
BTW, with regard to the travel cot, it can be good for guests, and also at parties, when you need to keep little ones away from drunken adults marauding toddlers. Putting play balls into it can make it a ball pit. It's not totally useless, I promise!

fusam, I had a breech baby who used a museum night (upright and walking around, examining the Chinese terracotta warriors) to heave himself into the correct position, so it can be done! they seem to have a pathological desire to be on their heads at the moment (baby was flip-flopping last night as I turned from side to side), so the more time you spend upright, the more it can help! However, that is a very traumatic past, so you have to do what you feel comfortable with. As you know from the past, they can always change directions and plans during the birth.

KateM, sorry about the firing. Can you feel better about it by considering that you are probably saving some other people lots of aggro that they have been suffering for ages? In my experience, someone who needs to be fired is always a PITA for far longer than s/he needs to be!

Bluebellsinthespring, that sounds like quite a schedule to get through before birth! What a nice baby, getting you out of so much aggro! Smile

msbuggywinkle, that sounds like an excellent retort to someone who's making you more tired!

HoneyLovesCake · 12/10/2011 10:51

Oooh...a ball pit. Ok, now I want a travel cot :)

kri5ty · 12/10/2011 12:31

oi your grumble made me laugh... exactly the same thing happened to me, a friend asked, ignored and turned up with a highchair.

Obviously I don't want to see ungrateful but he won't be able to use it for months anyway, and even then it looks tiny I don't think he will fit! We have no where to keep it, so I dunno what to do with it now!

I actually bought a travel cot, but only because it folded up small and I can put him in it in a few months when I'm trying to clean etc lol

OiMissus · 12/10/2011 13:20

I know it will come in useful in a few months - especially as a ball pit Grin - but it'll just be something to store somewhere until then, which is a right royal PITA.
On a more exciting note, the nursery furniture and pram will be delivered on Friday. :) We'll build up the pram and the Tallboy this weekend, everything else will stay in it's packaging until we're ready to do the nursery in the new house. Grin
And then I will wash all the clothes, bedding, muslins and nappies and put them away in the fancy tallboy. Grin Grin Grin

OiMissus · 12/10/2011 13:20

I apologise for the excessive use of smileys. Blush

lalababy · 12/10/2011 13:37

Gosh I dunno how you are gonna have the energy to do the nursery in 6-8 weeks time. I am already feeling tired!!! Dh and I still slowly, slowly doing up the house. Yesterday he put up some curtain rods and today we will be putting up shelving. Both of us are seriously avoiding the hard jobs of painting all the skirting boards and doors :(

Anyway, other than that things are going well. I keep feeling my baby move, sometimes he seems like he is sideways and other times he is back up in my ribs. No idea what position - my GP has never mentioned what position the baby is in when I have been there....

OiMissus · 12/10/2011 13:48

Adrenalin and fizzy pop. :) I'm really not sure how anything is going to pan out, really. We'll just deal with it when it happens.
The family say they are keen to help out with the house move - given my condition, so maybe there'll be other offers of help too. My BIL is a joiner - he must be good for something. :)

BeeMyBaby · 12/10/2011 14:43

I think I'm very lucky with the tiredness - I would be exhausted but have droped to three days a week at work (using up my annual leave until baby arrives) so am feeling fairly relaxed - and also 'special time' with Dh has improved immensely because of this.

I found a travel cot was useful with DD when she puked all over her mattress so she had somewhere alternative to sleep whilst it was being disinfected, so I'm all for travel cots.

hawthers · 12/10/2011 16:29

has anyone got an appropriate response for being asked if someone can touch my bump by an office colleague? I don't know them very well and it was right in the middle of a (massive) open plan office so didn't feel i could say i'd rather you didn't. felt like i was backed into a corner so i said yes. was all very uncomfortable.

on the same note how can i tell the head of room at DS' nursery that i'd really rather she didn't fondle my tummy and tell me how much she was looking forward to cuddling my baby? it's like she's a bit manic for it... slightly scary Shock

ZombiesAteMySorelip · 12/10/2011 16:34

hawthers I find the words 'Don't touch me' exclaimed loudly work well. Wink

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2011 16:52

hawthers you could say "I've had a lot of round ligament pain so I would rather you didn't". Even if it's a total lie. You could also just yell "Owwww!!!", or "you can touch mine if I can touch yours". Or one I saw on here once, "um, that's my colon".

OP posts:
msbuggywinkle · 12/10/2011 17:25

hawthers I flinch and exclaim in horror 'what are you doing?!?' Tends to make people very apologetic.

Have had a good day today...we made owls, spent an hour splashing in muddy puddles in the wood at the end of the road and have just devoured squash stew and pumpkin bread. I'm off out to home birth group tonight...cross your fingers that DD2 will go to sleep before I need to leave, I really don't want to take her with me!

figgygal · 12/10/2011 18:32

I can't say I'm tired however I am starving all the time I'm ashamed of how much food I've eaten today Wink

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2011 18:42

I'm listening to DH in the living room with his tutor group - every week they go through each of their highs and lows. It's quite sweet really - one boy's "high" was that he got a "low achievement, high effort" grade on a history essay!

I've decided to do a high and a low for every day now because it just feels like the days are slipping away from me and merging into one another - I really want to be more mindful, to stop and think and listen and enjoy these last weeks with just me and DH and the changing seasons before we take this huge step forward and become a family of three.

Highs:
I went to the physio today and she fitted me with this support belt for SPD and it was heavenly - unfortunately I couldn't buy hers off her for love nor money so one is on order and will arrive on Friday.

Kedgeree for dinner.

The neighbour's maple tree is changing colour.

Baby flipped 180 degrees again last night in one huge convulsive movement.

Low: I am exhausted. Still working 5 days a week with my 90 min commute, though today I did absolutely nothing after my physio appt though supposedly working from home, and will have to take it off as either sick leave or half a day of annual leave - I was just too tired to concentrate on anything!

Evening ladies - gradually catching up with you all.

Baby is sitting very high today, hurting my ribs Sad

Our nursery is finished thankfully.
Can I ask what buggy/pushchair everyone has brought please? The in-laws kindly brought me us a Maclaren XLR as it's the one I wanted.

KateM77 · 12/10/2011 19:59

Thanks plu I'm feeling a lot better about things today. It's a relief (for me and the person taking over my role) now it's all sorted. We were also inundated with good CVs for the replacement today, so shouldn't be long before we have someone else in the role.

I'm with everyone else on the exhaustion. I'm now counting down the days left at work.

I cut my toenails this morning. That was easier said than done Grin

There was a woman in the paper today who gave birth to a 13lb 11oz baby, just helped by gas and air. Ouch!

LittleMissFlustered · 12/10/2011 20:08

Knackered and looking for wells. Hasn't stopped raining for two days!

I bought an obaby zezu as I like the adaptability and it felt like a good walking pram:)

mopsytop · 12/10/2011 20:12

I think I want a Phil and Teds, but don't know which one and also worried might be a bit bulky. But have a massive boot. And my sis had one and loved it, it did her through 5 years and 2 kids. If I have another kid, won't need to buy another buggy, just the double conversion bit. But still undecided.
