Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

It's not a wrap but I have one in the other colours and it looks nice on.
sorry you are having to attend a funeral though.

glad things still good for all. I have a definate bump and no getting away from fact pregnant now - (have even been asked by patients at work when i'm due and where a big tunic!)

Had spd last time too and occasionaly feel twinges but am much fitter this time and trying to carry on with buggyfit running until i can as i am sure this will make the spd better - twisting and side to side that will make it worse!

Sleeping on back - i did through last pregnancy and the physio when i saw her just suggested being more upright so not flat on back and pillow under 1 hip (but i never managed that).

our scan seems ages away in a couple of weeks - very late 20 week scan! and we will find out what it is - just too impatient to know and no clue this time what it is - was so sure with DS that it was he and he flashed his bits at us so no mistaking it!

anyhow waffling now but hope all those scans go well for people.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 14:13

Thanks Kat, I've ordered the Bonprix one :) (they have loads of other dresses too, I nearly bought a few, but have already bought a dress for xmas so managed to stop myself Grin)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 15:13

PS, my 20w scan is a week today!!! Grin

KatAndKit · 09/11/2011 15:15

One week! Lucky you! Mine isn't till the 28th, I'll be nearly 21 weeks then. Am regretting not having 16 week private scan but at least I saved the 75 quid I would have spent on it.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 15:18

I'll be 19+6 then so think I was just lucky, am sure I had it later than that with DS. I had a surprise scan at 16w when I saw the consultant, wouldnt have paid for one (I am rather tight broke though!) Although I have been thinking that if we cant see whether its a boy or girl I might have to have a private scan to find out Grin
No way am I waiting til April!!

KatAndKit · 09/11/2011 15:33

This is where my extra scans will come in handy. One of the few perks of being high risk I suppose. If MiniKit doesn't cooperate first time, I will have 3 more scans afterwards anyway. Makes up for having to do all these grotty clexane injections I suppose!

digitalgirl · 09/11/2011 16:22

My scan is 2 weeks today - I'll be 19+2. At the moment I'm not really fussed about scans after that, but would like to hear the heartbeat before my 28 week midwife appointment.

HollyPockett · 09/11/2011 17:07

I'm 2 weeks yesterday! I'm becoming more and more impatient as time goes on! can't wait to find out what little Pip is! We can then start to really
argue think about names :)

aprilfoolsbaby · 09/11/2011 17:52

Hi all, I can't seem to get on here very often. Time is flying isn't it? My scan is on Monday, I'll be 20 + 1. I've been reading about what they have to check at the scan and it's daunting. Made me realise that the scan is not just for us to see the baby. Gulp. Won't be finding out the sex though.

Have been thinking about maternity leave. I only had 6 months off last time and went back full time. Will definitely be having longer this time. What's everyone else thinking of doing?

LaTristesse · 09/11/2011 20:09

I'll be taking the full year off again, can't wait! Not sure if I'll return to doing2 days like I do at the mo, or jack it in all together. I've not enjoyed working part time but I love my job and know I won't be able to get back in if I quit... Not burning any bridges yet though!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 20:12

Wish I had to plan mat leave, my last job cwouldnt accommodate flexi working so I had to quit. A week before my contract officially ended, I got my BFP...
Although we'd always planned for me to be a SAHM after #2 anyway, but a few more months pay would have been nice :)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/11/2011 20:13

dammit, my strike out didnt work!
lets say: couldnt wouldnt instead Grin

digitalgirl · 09/11/2011 21:27

I think I've saved up enough for 10 months off. Would love to take a year - but not sure finances will stretch. Am on a rolling fixed term contract so have had to save for the last two years for maternity leave. Will have to go back afterwards but not sure if they'll take me back as technically the can just end my contract. So may end up freelancing again which is a right bugger for working out childcare arrangements.

Hi everyone!
We just got our 13 +w scan pictures ( we're almost 16 w now)! Definitely makes it all seem more real but it's hard to comprehend it's my baby there in that picture. I guess we really are having a baby :) . Dug out the 3m baby clothes the other day . Forgotten what I had in there... hoping we'll find out the sex soon so I can go shopping ! We're still not able to come up with boys names so it would be nice to find what we are having. I think It's a boy but my mom's for some reason convinced it's a girl this time ...getting anxious waiting for the 20w scan for many reasons. I think health wise it does put your mind at ease more since they check so many things in that one. Also looking forward to our trip to Texas to see our surrogate and the 5 m + scan after New Years... Really busy now before Christmas so that will make time go faster. In general have lots of plans like three trips before April so I bet in the end we will be in a hurry with the preparations if I don't start doing something soon ;) I guess I'll have to start believing that it'll work out this time and get going with things !
I hope everyone is doing ok!

LaTristesse · 11/11/2011 19:53

Good to hear you sounding positive Nordic, it must be brilliant to see pictures when you're so far away... An American colleague of mine was surprised to hear we had to wait until 20+weeks to find out gender in the UK, he said they got to know much sooner in the States, although I guess it does vary from state to state.
Just over a week til my scan now, nervous, but excited to know a little bit more about who's coming to live with us!

newmummyvicky · 12/11/2011 18:48

Thats such lovely news that you have seen the pictures Nordicmom
just a quick question, hope you dont mind me asking- is the baby from your egg? be lovely to visit texas and meet up with your surrogate, see how she is getting on, and how long will you wait to take your little one home, after they are born?
I love reading your news, and be lovely to have a extra member to your family after all your problems.

I had i scan on tuesday, hubby and me didnt ask the question about sex, although it was temping at the end when the sonogram ladie ask if we had any questions.....

They really check everything, looked at the spine, the face, and the heart to check for all 4 heart chambers. I did think i thought i saw a (little something) betweens its legs but my husband didnt notice!
Maybe it could of been the cord?????
He still thinks girl but now im thinking boy.

Hope all your scan go well x x x

Nordicmom · 12/11/2011 19:59

newmummyvicky I don't mind you asking. The baby is both of ours . It 's called gestational surrogacy. I would have never gone for straight surrogacy where it's the surrogate's egg. I personally think that's asking for trouble . We used an agency . If It hadn't worked with my eggs I would have been ready to use donor eggs( or sperm if that was the problem) although that would have been a whole different deal both mentally and physically never mind financially... After my miscarriages they never found anything wrong with either one of us , I just can't seem to keep the pregnancies in . This process feels even more odd because looking at my son I know that the other baby is as much mine biologically as he is but just not growing in my body .
It should be about two weeks to get the passport (US passport ,will get the UK one once back in the country , legal process takes up to 6 m) done in the US after birth and then we can return if everything's ok . This whole thing is quite complicated and exhausting but we're taking it one day at a time and will hopefully be rewarded in the end!

Nordicmom · 12/11/2011 20:06

...oh forgot , with my DS I could see for myself at the 5m scan that he was a boy .It was obvious ;)

notso · 13/11/2011 12:45

Hello all, hope everyone is well.

I pleased to say I can finally start to enjoy my pregnancy. My test results came through and the lump on my breast I have been having investigated is normal. I am so relieved.
All in all a good but scary week, heard the LO's heartbeat on Tuesday but it took 15 minutes for the M/W to find it, she was on hold to book me for an emergency ultrasound. Thankfully she had one more go and found the little monkey hiding near my hip bone.
We told the older two DC (DS2 is too little to care!) about the baby on Friday, they are very pleased and excited thankfully. DH is telling his parents as I type, hope he gets a good reaction, then it is my turn!

I don't really have much to buy for the baby, we bought everything new for DS2 and it isn't even 12 months old yet. Am having a dilemma about the pram though. I have a bugaboo cameleon and was planning on keeping it and using a sling and buggyboard. DH thinks I am being too ambitious given I couldn't use a sling with DS2 because of SPD, plus we saw the lovely but ££££ Bugaboo Donkey in John Lewis on friday! I really loved it it's the first double I have liked but don't really see how we can afford it.

Lovely to hear about everyone having scans, can't believe it's that time already.

Bearcrumble · 13/11/2011 14:28

Nordicmum Great news about the scan. So glad all is going well.

Notso - What a relief about the lump. That's wonderful. What a scare you had with the baby's heartbeat, so glad she found it in the end.

I am 18 weeks now, fairly obvious bump but I can't feel any flutterings yet. I first felt DS at 19-20 weeks so I thought I would have by now. I can hear the heartbeat easily with my home doppler now though.

DS has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease so we're not getting much rest here. Poor love was so unhappy yesterday - nasty sores in his mouth were really paining him. He cried until about 3am this morning - DH and I took it in turns to look after him.

I've had to take my house off the market because there are some suspicious cracks in the wall. I've found out that all the other houses along the terrace have been underpinned except mine (mine is the end one). I feel a bit miserable and like we'll never manage to sell this place and move to the country. We went to view places in Kent on Friday and there were so many lovely ones we could afford if we could sell this one even without making a profit on what we paid for it 3 years ago.

Snowy27 · 13/11/2011 16:46

HI all
Been lurker rather than a poster recently- but just wondered if anyone had any experience with pain/ bleeding at 17 weeks? I've been to hospital about it but non the wiser (looks ok, but might not be.... wait and see!) Kind of hoped this would have stopped by now!
Thanks x

notso · 13/11/2011 16:57

Bearcrumble bad news about your house. Is there anything you can do apart from underpinning? Don't mean to scare you but have you spoken to the doctor about the hand, foot and mouth? I had to have 6 weeks off work when it was going around nursery and I was PG with DS2.

Snowy27 sorry to hear about the bleeding. I don't have any experience but hope everything is ok for you.

DH's family very pleased, his DB's wife was a bit bitchy but thats nothing new, don't think she knows how to be nice! Not going to get to see my parents today now, debating whether to phone later or tell them face to face during the week.

Hotpotpie · 13/11/2011 19:29

Snowy27 not at 17 weeks but 11-14 I bled from a cervical erosion, which everything Ive read says is painless but I actually has quite a bit of sharp pain
