I thought you were only not allowed unpasturised or blue cheese? Goats cheese is as ok as any other, depending on which sort of goats cheese (ie not blue or unpasturised). Is this wrong?

greengoose · 17/10/2011 21:22

Sorry Dairymps, crossposted. Glad to hear SIL is doing a little better, and that you are looking after yourself...

Dalrymps · 17/10/2011 21:49

Thanks greengooseSmile

I think that's right about the cheese, just not allowed unpasturised and blue. I think maybe most goats cheeses are unpasturised but I might be wrong..

Florin · 17/10/2011 22:04

All cheeses were from farmers market and all unpasterised so all a big no!

Kayzr · 17/10/2011 22:13

I've got gastroentiritus or however you spell it. I'm feeling really awful, got really bad stomach cramps and feel like I'm living in the bathroom. Out of hour doctor says it'll go in about 4-5 days. Sad

TeaandHobnobs · 17/10/2011 22:25

Evening all,

Sorry to hear godrill's and Dalrymps's news Sad and fingers crossed for mymama

Struggling to get my head around being pregnant - I was so sure I was ready, but now I feel quite freaked out... More about the pregnancy/childbirth stage than the child stage, I guess. I have an incredibly low pain threshold, so the thought of childbirth pretty much petrifies me!

Symptom-wise, I've had quite a lot of excrutiating cramping (see comment above re pain threshold!), and a lot of rumbling in the digestive system, with occasional bouts of nausea but no actual sickness yet.

Our housemate finally moved out yesterday, so DH and I have the house to ourselves at last - and we are just realising how much work needs to be done before a LO potentially arrives!

Hope everyone else has been feeling ok today

Dalrymps · 17/10/2011 22:27

Oh KayzrSad poor you. I had exactly the same when I was 5wks the first time. I found the worst of it was over within 48 hrs.. It helped mento sip water as that was all I could keep down for a while. I thinking you put a bit of sugar in pop (lemonade or 7up) it's a good substitute for a rehydration drink. The dr I saw at the time told me to drink fennel tea but I couldn't stomach it.

Hope it passes quickly, try and rest when you can xx

Dalrymps · 17/10/2011 22:29

That's was supposed to say me to and think if

Florin · 17/10/2011 23:01

kayzr you poor thing, I hope you feel better soon

birdofthenorth · 17/10/2011 23:54

Godrill I'm so sorry. You're being very brave. I wish you all the very best when you ttc again. I'm thinking of you.

Re smeartests I had one in the two week wait before BFP, told the nurse there was a chance I could be pg and she assured me it was totally safe & went ahead (results cane back clear in a week, yay, though apparently being of can give false mixed readings sometimes)

molejazz · 18/10/2011 01:41

Dionysia - I'm not 100% sure! Guess I'll find out. I think basically you pick someone to be your 'lead maternity carer' and then they liaise with everyone else. It's nice because you get the consistency of having one person throughout and for the birth, but having said that I know at least one person whose midwife was on holiday when she went into labour so she then ended up with someone she'd never met. At least with team-based care the odds are you've met most of them at appointments.

Just did another test and got another very faint second line - I suppose this means my hormone levels are low? I've got a dr's appt later so I might ask for a bloodtest. Oh well, we'll see how things pan out. Added myself to the list anyway :)

Kayzr - sorry you're feeling so rough. Hope things improve quick for you.

Sooo tired today. Didn't sleep well last night and have a day of training to sit through today. Wonderful. Have decided that pregnancy is not designed for impatient people like me - how am I ever going to last another 8 months before I see baby!Grin

Best friend has her first scan today so quite excited for her. Seems an age until I'll be anywhere near a scan!

greengoose · 18/10/2011 07:48

I am officially 6weeks today, Yeh! (although thats by dates, by CBDigi getting to 3+, I am 6+4 IYSWIM). The last time I MCd it was at 6weeks, so to get through today will be a milestone, (I know in real terms theres no reason why it would be the same as last time, but 6wks still feels important).

I am in awe of all the people who stay up past 10pm on this thread...I still am crying out for sleep by 9.30pm and always awake by 5.30. Not good.

Off now to rake my wardrobe for something that still fits properly....bit worrying.

Dalrymps · 18/10/2011 08:33

greengoose yay for 6 weeks!Smile

I haven't mc'd before but still felt like 6 weeks was a bit of a milestone as I'd read that chances of mc fall a little after 6 weeks.

I have some kind of virus/cold this morning so feel really grotty on top of my nauseaSad moan moan moan

ReadySteadyDrink · 18/10/2011 08:43

MyMama - fingers crossed for you.
Godrill - so sorry for your loss.

I am really pleased you've made it to 6weeks greengoose, I totally understand it being a milestone.

Welcome MoleJazz!

Well mild nausea comes and goes. It's weird, I constantly feel like I have a mild hangover. You know when you've been out and had one too many (like, literally one too many), and you don't have a full blown hangover, just tiredness, hunger, thirst and really mild nausea.

Boobs are ginormous! They were 34E before and now I have quadraboob. DH was copping a bit of a feel, and looked perlexed and said "what's that?". Shock

DH has been getting up with DS, so I've been getting a bit of a lie in which is nice. But I am still shattered.

Is anyone else taking Pregnacare? I have always been taking it in the morning, and have just noticed it says to take with the main meal Blush. I have been taking it with breakfast as it's when I remember...

millyv · 18/10/2011 09:20

Morning Ladies!

Gosh I'm shattered this morning! It's my own fault though as I went up to bed at 9.30 but by the time I was sorted the embarrassing bodies clinic was on and can't stop watching things like that... 11pm I got off to sleep!

Kayzr Hope you are feeling a little better today, its not a nice thing to have but hopeflly you will start to feel better soon? Have you tried dioralite (think thats how you spell it?) its a sachet you put in water and it replaces salts and sugar lost from your body?

Teaandhobnobs I know how you feel, I totally thought I was ready for all of this but when the BFP came up on he test I was suddenly petrified!

Readysteadydrink I'm taking the tesco equivalent, I always used to pay for the brand drugs but the own brands are ezactly the same but half the price, I take it before bed every night, I haven't heard of votamin tablets needed to be taken with food before?

Greengoose Congratulations on hitting 6 weeks! Just think you are half way through the 12 week wait now!

Xx

MammaInTheMaking · 18/10/2011 09:25

Yup I understand your elation green. I MCed in August at 6+3. Today I make myself 6+4 so I'm pretty relieved.

Saw my GP yesterday and he's referred me for a dating scan as I'm on the post MC cycle. I was going to ask for an early scan anyway so pretty happy with that.

Morning sickness (all day sickness!) was shocking yesterday. Was dreading today as I'm at an external meeting. The nausea has def subsided so I'm quite happy about that!

Very sorry to hear about the ladies having a tough time at the moment. It's very sad and tiring but when it happened to me I was just thankful that it was early on... Sending you love and strength.

Going to munch some grapes before I get off this train. I hope you all have good days in store Smile

Rrrrayray · 18/10/2011 10:32

Hi all.

Goldrill Sorry for your loss

Mymama Thinking of you.

I have to say, Nausea wise, so far so good. Although, its a bit disconserting for me. With DD I was sick as a dog from about 4 weeks until gone 20 weeks. Signed off work, the lot. I literally lived sat next to the toilet to throw up. So altough long may the no sickness/ nausea continue, i feel a bit nervous that something isn't quite right. I know full well every pregnancy is different, but i just don't feel overly pregnant.

Darlymps i had an abnormal smear a few months ago ( My first smear, so i was fuming they had not done one earlier as i had been ASKING for one, but they wouldn't allow one until 25) and had to have my second colcoscopy last week. My consultant said it carries no risk, else they wouldn't do it. That said, i did still feel really odd anyone being anywhere near that area medically right now. Anyway, as previously they said i had some kind of blister before on the cervix which apparently is really common from being on the pill and just throws up slightly abnormal cells but isn't at all cancer related thankfully.

Kayzr Hope you are feeling perkier today?

Greengoose & others who have passed the 6 week stage. Congratulations...... Here is to the first of many mini milestones!

My DD goes to Nursery 2 mornings a week, adores it, This morning they are off to see the Hungry Caterpillar Stage show! So cute, her first ever outing. Had to (quite rightly) take a car seat for the mini bus and fit it myself. Be interesting to see what she makes of it. Shes seen Guess how much i love you, and Peppa pig's stage show before and Adored both.

Hope everyone has a lovely day! x

Kveta · 18/10/2011 11:16

hi all,

Rrrrayray - I'm the same re: nausea, although am getting a bit queasier now, but not anywhere near as bad as last time! DH looked at me yesterday and said 'oh dear, you're really not feeling very well are you?'. He didn't experience the full joy of the 1st trimester last time, as we were in different countries, so am making sure he is aware this time [hgrin]

Mamma - ooh, that's interesting about dating scan due to mc - I am also on post-mc cycle, so will see what midwife says on thursday. Here they don't bother with you making a GP appt first; if you're pg, you go straight to the midwife!

I had a smear at my booking in appt in the States - they also did a full physical exam, so I had to strip and be prodded from all angles. The Dr (who had all the bedside manner of a, well, bedside table) insisted on examining my boobs in excruciating detail, in a way that would be considered very inappropriate over here! Luckily there was a nurse present too!!

I'm taking my sainsburys own brand mum and bump vitamins with my breakfast so I don't forget them. DS still calling it a baby pill, and if it is on my plate, he will nag me to take it [hgrin] ah, if only he knew why I was taking it, he wouldn't be nearly so keen!!

Oh yes, and DS and I were watching one of his cartoons yesterday - it's a czech one called 'Krtek' (little mole), and is about a little mole and his woodland friends, and is aimed at the pre-school age group. Anyway, in the one we saw, a male rabbit is chasing a female rabbit, they disappear into a hollow log, and come out with the female looking a bit bigger around the middle. The the female lies down, groaning, and her vagina is clearly shown [hshock], dilating, then she grunts some more before Krtek fishes around in there with one of his enormous paws, then a baby rabbit appears [hshock]! then 2 more baby rabbits roll out, mummy and daddy rabbit are delighted, and it's all over. I was just [hshock] [hshock] [hshock] at it, but DH (I made him watch it with me later) said that we are just too prudish in the UK [hgrin] and also that it isn't nearly gory enough to resemble a real birth (his actual words were 'where's all the blood?!')

Anyway, will be saving that episode for next summer to expain to DS what is going on [hgrin]

Kayzr · 18/10/2011 11:50

Hello.

I've got campylobacter [hsad] I've been given tablets to try and make the stomach cramps less painful. The doctor said that the baby is fine and that the baby is like a parasite and will take everything it needs and leave me with less nutrients etc. So that's nice to know. Still hurts but at least I know the baby isn't affected.

millyv · 18/10/2011 12:38

Hope you're ok Kayzr, the cramps are so nerve wracking but at least you know you and the baby are ok! Hope your tablets start working soon! xx

emblosion · 18/10/2011 13:00

Hi everyone tentatively gets onto thread Smile can I join?

Am a bit of a newbie, although have been lurking for a while - tested positive on Sunday and am having a hard time believing that I'm actually really truly pregnant (at last!).

Have cheekily added myself to the list and I'm off to read the rest of the thread!

Em xx

Glad you decided to join us Emblosion!

Miniangel · 18/10/2011 13:38

Welcome Emblosion.

Kveta You have brightened up my dull working day. The rabbit story is sooo funny. I am a bit shocked about what they show in cartoons these days but find it totally hilarious.

Readysteadydrink I take pregnacare at breakfast too. I have been thinking of moving it at lunch but don't feel right about taking vitamins at night. I have this theory that vitamins work better during the day. What do you think?

Kayzr Hope your cramps become less painful. I have had a dull ache all day and have been worried.

Florin so happy for you that you got the royal treatment at your parents last night. We have told mine and DH's parents and they were sooo happy. My mum has been making special treats for me.

millyv · 18/10/2011 13:41

I didn't know it mattered what time of day or night you take vitamin pills - if this is the case should I change when I take mine?

We are telling both parents on Thursday evening, very excited about it!

xx
