Had no idea what to call it, sorry. Just googled third trimester and that was the recommendation...

AWCH - any chance your going to share those lucky numbers Grin

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 07:47

Fingers crossed that someone off this thread wins. Of course, I'd love it to be me, Grin but I'd be ecstatic if it was one of us - someone who could really do with it and it'd make a difference to their lives - rather than the usual very old couple or ex-crim!

msbuggywinkle · 09/09/2011 07:56

AWCH Me too! DD3 pokes me violently if I'm in a yoga pose she doesn't feel like co-operating with right then.

I'm really enjoying seeing my bump jump around now, me and my friend were sat with cuppas yesterday afternoon watching my belly for ages. Off to playgroup and then lunch t our favourite noodle place today. I hear the satay sauce calling!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 09/09/2011 07:59

Oimissus what I could do with a lottery win. I'd have more than DPs £200 budget for my wedding dress lol.

Think baby is sleeping, not that active this morning. Both DD & I have caught DPs cold Sad although DD is worse that me.

1 week down, 12 more to go till I go on Mat leave.

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 09:24

10 weeks til mat leave for me! Hurrah! The countdown beginneth! what a nice thought! thanks! :)
We listened to the hypnobirthing CD last night - it is English BTW. It was ok, I can't see myself really getting into the hypnotherapy thing deeply (pardon the pun) but I think it will be helpful to stay calm, to breathe, to visualise what's happening and to use the ideas like "Picture the pressure like a volume dial, when the pressure becomes too great, visualise yourself reaching out and turning down the dial".

sevensevenseven · 09/09/2011 09:58

Hope everyone is ok. We had a late night last night and I feel bloody awful today. Got loads of jobs to do, not helped by the fact that DS just wants to sit and have cuddles (and so do I). Sorry for whinging!

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 10:00

Hey everyone, feeling really faint this morning. Not dizzy exactly just that sicky weird feeling you get before you faint. Anyone had this? Is it just another pregnancy symptom? I have a very bad cold this week, maybe it's contributing? Felt faint yesterday too but is worse today.

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 11:04

Anyone have any advice also on how to make it stop? have had to lie down but I still feel faint lying down. Is horrible.

Xiaoxiong · 09/09/2011 11:07

mopsy I've had quite a few faint/dizzy spells that sound exactly like that - my blood pressure has been fine every time they've checked so I've always assumed it has something to do with either blood sugar or dehydration, and it's always gone away after I have some water and a mint, or a sweet. I found it really alarming though!

A query for all you experienced mums - what do braxton hicks actually feel like? The last few days, anytime I've walked for more than a few minutes, I get what feels like a stitch but instead of high in my side (like I get when I run), it's down in the lower part of my bump and lasts for what seems like an eternity - but is probably more like 30 seconds or so. It really hurts! Are these braxton hicks?? (And if they are...are BH usually more painful than real contractions, because if not I may be rethinking my whole attitude towards pain relief...)

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 11:11

I ate and drank and it hasn't helped :(

I thought Braxton Hicks were tightening but no pain? Maybe it is round ligament pain? I have had that and it's really sore. It comes in bursts as well, it's not constant.

figgygal · 09/09/2011 12:22

Ouch!!!

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2035168/Heaviest-girl-born-Britain-weighs-hefty-12lb-9oz-mum-5ft-2in.html

27 weeks today, 13 to go, 11 until last day at work.........hope it flies!!
Am looking smaller today wierdly

BeeMyBaby · 09/09/2011 13:29

During BH the bump goes really hard and then soft again agterwards (with no pain), I agree with mopsy with round ligament pain though, I had a similar thing but it seems to have got better now I wear a bump band all the time.

Ouch! And for those of us having boys, the biggest was born in 1992 - a 15lber!! Yikes. At least when it's going to be exceptionally big, they know, and you're booked in for a C-section. I really don't want to have a C section, but I think my fear of having a huge baby is greater! Bring in the knife!!
28weeks today for me! Just had my babycentre email. :)

itsybitsy08 · 09/09/2011 14:01

Hiya ladies.
Another new thread! You lot are certainly keeping me with plenty of bedtime reading :)
Glad on the whole everyone seems to be doing well - give or take a few aches and pains - par of the course I suppose.
Quick question though for you - what are you doing about your seatbelt when you are driving? Are you just trying to keep it under your bump, or not wearing one? Confused Im worried about having a bump and the seatbelt cutting across my tummy! I couldnt drive when I was pregnant with DD so I dont really know - someone at work mentioned when you get further along you are exempt by law about having to wear one? Any answers much appreciated :)

Awomancalledhorse · 09/09/2011 14:03

mopsy, are you taking supplements/iron tablets?
I have Iron Deficency anemia, and have that horrible weak feeling most of the time (when you try and stand up, you almost blackout/your eyes go funny & you're more shakey than usual?). Has MW checked your blood pressure recently?
Hope you feel better soon.

Saw MW earlier & forgot to ask about flu jab, dammit. Forgot to pick up my repeat perscription for iron tablets. double dammit!

What's everyone planned for the weekend?

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 14:03

itsy I think I'd rather wear the seatbelt, I'd take the risk of it digging into tummy rather than being killed/seriously injured if I had an accident. I was wondering the other day though about whether I should try and put it under the bump rather than around it ... any one else have any experience on what's best?

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 14:05

Yeah it's that AWCH like the bit just before you get the black spots - so I haven't actually had the black spots and conked out but you know the feeling that directly precedes it? I am going to midwife on Tuesday but wondering if I should call or if it's just a normal thing and I should just take it easy. Don't want to be looking like a hypochondriac and I am not really worried, I just want it to go away! My BP is normally normal (had it checked about 3 weeks ago and was fine). I am taking the pregnacare so I presume have enough iron. It's just really a pain as I feel so ill when I sit up so getting work done is tricky.

This weekend is the first weekend in months (literally) that I have been at home, going to take it easy! And buy a bookcase. The excitement might kill me!

Xiaoxiong · 09/09/2011 14:10

Ok sounds like not BH then - that actually makes me feel better because at least they're not contractions. I do have this bump band but it's not at all tight - I bought it not for support but for covering up the space between shorter tops and trousers. Bee, would you recommend yours?

Oi I'm 28 weeks today too according to my iphone app - 84 days to go, 8 weeks until last day at work.

Awomancalledhorse · 09/09/2011 14:22

mopsy, I share your enthusiasm for bookcase purchasing, looking for one atm & haven't found the perfect one.
I guess if you called now, she could get you an appointment on Monday instead? Although maybe saying 'I feel like fainting' is a red rag to a MW & she'll insist on seeing you asap? Confused I guess if you're not worried about it, then it can wait?

Just looking at my pregnancy supplement (Sanatogen mother to be), it contains 14mg of Iron..my Iron tablets are 210mg. Have you tried eating loads of almonds, spinach or other iron rich food?
Hope taking it easy helps!

As for the seatbelt issue, it's supposed to go across your lap, so just loosen it a bit? DH would refuse to start the car if I didn't belt up (plus the car would be all 'DING DING DING' stupid car).

sevensevenseven · 09/09/2011 14:41

itsy I've never heard that pregnant women are exempt from wearing seatbelts, I read somewhere that the highest cause of death of the foetus in road accidents is death of the mother ie not wearing a seatbelt.

Feeling a bit better now, I made gingerbread and bread to cheer myself up, DS is asleep so I'm putting my feet up and ignoring the housework.

Is anyone planning to go to the baby show at Earls Court next month? I received an email from Philips Avent baby club saying that members can save £8.50 on tickets if that's of any use to anyone.

Awomancalledhorse · 09/09/2011 15:04

itsy, Gov link on it You need to get, and carry a medical exemption cert (at all times in the car) from the doctor.

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 15:07

You must wear a seatbelt!! The seatbelt will protect the baby as well as you. Put the lower part firmly and tightly across the lower curve of your bump - as it tucks under. (You can probably put your hand almost horizontally under the bump now - that's where the belt should sit). The top part of the belt should sit in between your breasts and curve around the top of your bump.
Over clothes and coats etc the belt won't sit exactly in your curves, but if you are thrown forward at 70mph this is where it will pull on you - SAVING YOUR LIFE and your baby's life!!!
(Consider yourselves told! Wink )

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 15:10

tyelperion 84 days!!!!!!!!!!!! Blimey o reilly! yikes!

Xiaoxiong · 09/09/2011 16:28

Haha oimissus - bet that's focused your mind Grin

And I still have not bought anything for the baby. Plenty of stuff for me though (new bed, new mattress, birth ball, memory foam mattress pad, entire new wardrobe, new DVD box sets...Grin)

The baby's only little, it doesn't need any stuff right? DH actually said the other day to some friends that we weren't planning on getting any leggings or trousers for the baby - he was just going to put one of my socks on each of the baby's legs, which would cover the whole of his/her legs and be convenient as there would be no undressing/unsnapping necessary for nappy changes Hmm

plupervert · 09/09/2011 18:21

Re: the seatbelt, I have a Clippasafe bump belt, which is quite comfortable (before I got it, I was feeling a bit faint with the seat belt up higher). It holds the lap belt across your lap, so the cross-body strap is still there to prevent you from going flying in an impact.

Tyelperion, sleepsuits are great for the first couple of months. Our babies, being winter ones, are going to spend a lot of time tucked into cosy-toes (in the pram) or snowsuits or the like! And they always get socks off! They're not quite so good at it in the early stages, but by the time DS was about 3mo, he was frequently "praying" with his feet, prayers which were evidently so powerful, they knocked his socks off! Grin

I've got a list of snowsuit, buggy board (for DS), moses basket mattress and something else I can't quite remember, but am trying to remember to leave my DM and DMIL something to buy, as they might be a bt cross if they don't get that chance (or buy something dreadful... Shock)
