I intend to. My working hours will change from Monday. No more 5:45am alarm calls!
Home now, bath running, ...and relax!

sevensevenseven · 23/09/2011 17:57

mmmcheese can I ask why your previous birth was traumatic?

I've put my hypnotherapy cd on my iPhone this afternoon and plan to listen to it tonight, I'll report back my findings. I wanted a natural birth last time but very naively just thought I'd be able to cope with the pain without doing anything. Once I started having contractions and realised how much more painful they were than I was expecting I panicked, couldnt relax and ultimately had to ask for drugs. If I still can't manage the pain then so be it, but I at least want to be as prepared as possible this time.

LittleMissFlustered · 23/09/2011 18:54

I found that knowing how not to hyperventilate works serious wonders, as does knowing how to use as and air effectively. Bloody marvellous stuff!

figgygal · 23/09/2011 19:13

I may hyperventilate tonight am off to see the dirty dancing show in Bristol in a minute eek!!

Booked before Xmas for Friday evening though would be good as could have some drinks make most of it clearly before little johnny was on the way (that's the working name at moment rather than it).

OiMissus · 23/09/2011 19:37

Have a great time!
I'm spectacularly rubbish on Friday nights - always restless and tired. :(
Baby is also restless tonight!

mopsytop · 24/09/2011 08:50

Mmm I have been leaking sporadically for a few weeks. And have back pain in exact same place.

Sorry to hear about your cousin Darcies :(

sevensevenseven · 24/09/2011 09:05

I can't report much on my hypnotherapy CD, I fell asleep but woke up feeling more relaxed than I have in ages.

Feeling really rubbish today, back pain, scratchy throat and I'm exhausted despite sleeping well. Off to my parents today, I might let them entertain DS while I do some knitting, I'm getting worried I won't finish it in time. DH kindly reminded me this morning I'm only 8 weeks away from when DS was born.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

figgygal · 24/09/2011 10:00

Show was great but got to bed at 1.30 by time got out of carpark, got through An unexpected road closure and then dropped off pal and got husband out of her house where he'd been on the bottles of red with her husband. Bit hanging this morning!!

My mum was a HUGE Patrick swayze fan she wanted me to call LO after him might stick with johnny as name after johnny castle DH never seen The film so wouldn't realise Grin

plupervert · 24/09/2011 10:16

msbuggywinkle, what a lovely friend. It must have been especially hard, so far after that "magic" 12-week stage. Sad

aethelfleda · 24/09/2011 10:38

Stood up this morning and realised that I'm at the lovely stage where the feet are disappearing behind the bump when looking down!

Am hitting the barleycup (chicory coffee) as the real stuff seems to be giving me heartburn (didn't have it this early last time- guess everythings getting saggy third time around!)

Have that million-things-to-do feeling that's so common at the weekend, but Friday is my long (and hectic) day at work so I'm always knackered on a Saturday! oi, I can't believe how rubbish your work were- you do know that minimum SMP is more than £128 a week initially by law? i think its 90% pay for 6 weeks and THEN the £128 a week? Don't want them diddling you!

HoneyLovesCake · 24/09/2011 11:06

Oi that's disgusting...I'm self-employed so expect to get the minimum but I didn't think any decent-sized company would have the gall to pay so little Shock So sorry for you but well done for standing up for yourself & complaining anyway.

I'm a bit peed off this morning; saw an unused BabyBay for sale on ebay with a starting bid of £100 a couple of days ago so I contacted the seller to see if there was a price they'd end the auction early as DP is up in London this wknd & would need to pick it up then. Just opened email this morning from seller to say they'd put a "buy it now" price on so I go to the auction page to see that someone else has sneaked in & bought it for £120!!! Gutted, they've completely undersold it (they're £280 new & was apparently completely unused) & they only put the Buy it now on for me :( Seems so unfair. Oh well, at least I'm not having one of my hormonal weepy mornings or I'd probably be having a cry about it :o

jomouse · 24/09/2011 15:57

Happy weekend everyone. I'm sitting here waiting for my blummin removals people to pack us up. They are 2 hours late which is not doing the old blood pressure any favours at all.
However, husband is in the new house taking delivery of white goods and sent me a photo of the new washing machine to cheer me up. Is it very sad to say that it really has cheered me up? I can't wait to get settled and nesting. I have taken two weeks off to move and spend time with DH and I am so, so looking forward to it.
Also, our new neighbours popped round last night with a lemon drizzle cake, card and a bottle of wine. I think I'm going to enjoy our new place!
Hope you're all doing well

sevensevenseven · 24/09/2011 16:47

jomouse your new neighbours sound great. Hope the move goes well.

OiMissus · 24/09/2011 17:28

Congratulations on moving house! So Envy! White goods are very exciting!!! Nothing sad about that!
All the very best of luck in your new home!

We had people looking at our house today. They seemed really keen, and emphasised that they have no chain and were ready to move. Fingers crossed!
(maybe we've gotta decide which house we want to buy!)

aethelfleda · 24/09/2011 17:32

honey, it may be worth contacting the seller about the BabyBay- if they really did mean to convert to a private auction then they are allowed to explain to the other buyer that they made a listing mistake and withdraw the item even after the B-I-N jas completed, provided that they then do complete the sale with you on the official ebay site (ie they still pay ebay the due fees). This is to protect sellers from botching their listing then being forced to complete. Worth a try?

sevensevenseven · 24/09/2011 20:06

oimissus fingers crossed!

Random question but does anyone know how long you can store expressed breastmilk in the fridge? The NHS website says 5 days but I'm certain I've read somewhere 24 hours, quite a vast difference!

LittleMissFlustered · 24/09/2011 22:51

The tiny amount I could express got frozen, but 24h is sounding familiar...

aethelfleda · 24/09/2011 23:19

I think it depends on how good your fridge is, seven -

The NCT website here says its OK for 5 days as long as it's kept below 4 degrees and not in the door part. Personally if I was keeping it for longer than 2 days I preferred to freeze it knowing it wouldn't "go to waste" (though it does seem to seperate a bit when you defrost/reheat it apparently frozen EBM is still fine.)

jigglebum · 25/09/2011 08:22

morning everyone. Well done on the house move jomouse , hope it was not too stressful. We spent yesterday moving the study stuff out into the spare room to make the room a nursery and then had to strip the wall paper off and prepare the walls for painting. Hopefully be painted next weeekend and we can start sorting it out and getting organised.

Think we have decided on our builders now so will be starting our kitchen extension mid oct. Not great timing. I had hoped to have started in august but nevermind. Perhaps a new baby will take my mind off the stress of no kitchen and a hole in the house!!! Might win the sympathy vote with the builders too.

Knackered today as DS woke in the night and I couldnt get back to sleep annoyingly. Currently slobbing on the sofa with DS watching Little Red tractor!

fusam · 25/09/2011 09:34

seven also I think frozen is also only meant to be kept for 3 months.

I am struggling this week, have some sinusy issue where I can hardly breath through my nose in the morning. My back is knackered and I have really bad lower back pain (actually more like arse bone) that makes me squeak every time I stand up or sit down. I am pretty over being pregnant now and just want the cute baby bit. Sorry for the totally me me me......

OiMissus · 25/09/2011 10:35

fusam I know what you mean - I'm not suffering so much though (you have my sympathy). I keep telling everyone "I can't wait!" but what I really mean is, "I can't be arsed with another 8-12 weeks of personal discomfort and struggling to do everything/move. Give me my cute baby and let me get on with my life".
At the moment it's me keeping us awake at night as I can't get comfy and my skin is soooooo itchy.
I could handle a crying baby, it's not it's fault. I'm annoyed with me - groaning whilst emptying the washing machine, rolling around to try and lift myself from the bed... whinge whinge whinge...

msbuggywinkle · 25/09/2011 11:19

I'm with those who are over being pregnant. I'm a crap parent when I'm pregnant, I'm much better when the baby is on the outside! DD2 decided to spend 3 hours bouncing round in the middle of the night last night so am tired and crabby this morning.

Yep, bm is good in the fridge for 5 days.

figgygal · 25/09/2011 11:29

Me too still got 11 weeks to go and can't believe continuing to get bigger until then. I literally live 1 friday to the next so can knock another week off. Only starting to feel uncomfortable in bed or when bending down my bump not too big yet but only a couple lbs short of 2 stone gain.

Suppose I just have to remember back to when was 11 weeks and had 29 weeks to go.

plupervert · 25/09/2011 12:02

Hi, all.
Sorry everyone's feeling crap at the moment. Physical discomfort really does wear you down. I'm feeling very stiff, and am walking like a sailor on land. fusam, that lower-back/arse pain sounds like what I had and was referred to physio for, so please do ask your GP or midwife if there's anything they can do soon. The ball-sitting the physio prescribed is helping me so far, as are the exercises of standing straight and pulling in my stomach muscles (effectively lifting my tummy with my core muscles). There are some other things as well, but they are harder to describe, and I don't want you to do yourself a mischief, especially if they turn out not to be suitable for you. After all, my first appointment included a lot of questions to exclude various possibilities like trapped nerves, spinal disc misalignment/disc fusing, etc. She had me lie down on a foam shape with tummy cut out, to poke between each rib, to make sure nothing was broken or out of place, before concluding that I just had crap core muscles.

DH and I managed to go out last night, and I saw another woman there - December birth, too - HAVING WINE! I was jealous, especially as no-one said a bloody thing, or even pursed their lips! Wine is one of my great pleasures, and it just doesn't seem fair... I commented to DH on the way home that he had been very restrained in not saying anything, and he didn't seem to have particularly noticed.
Mind you, this just raises the stakes for my first post-baby glass of wine. It had better be a bloody good one! I'm not wasting it on Christmas champagne, either...
Shall we have some post-baby fantasies? Wine, bending over, untrammelled digestion... Wink

OiMissus · 25/09/2011 12:21

Post baby fantasies: leaping on DH, leaping around the bedroom, eating Roquefort, putting on tights whilst standing up (!), but mainly getting back into my nice clothes and underwear! Getting my taste for wine back.
I'm also looking forward to all the baby stuff - breast feeding, going for walks with the pram, having a wonderful little baby to care for, time off work, playing, dressing baby in gorgeous clothes, even changing nappies. :)
