Had no idea what to call it, sorry. Just googled third trimester and that was the recommendation...

Enjoy the massage oimissus, sounds great.

I didn't have a great night either, baby decided midnight was a good time to start doing gymnastics.

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 09:09

Any half price massage sounds great to me! :)
msbuggy you're sounding back on par :) good to hear it. Lurrvveee lemon drizzle cake. Bring on the sugar!
Ten weeks ago we were all worrying about not feeling any movements yet, now we get lots of them at the most inconvenient times, soon we'll get the alienesque movements that are huge, weird and probably recognisable as bits of limbs... Isn't pregnancy great?!
Am wearing a jumper dress today, and everyone has decided it must be twins or quads. :)
Am loving pregnancy today. Hope you're all smiley too! Grin

mopsytop · 20/09/2011 09:26

morning everyone. Bad headache again today. Just getting on with things and trying to ignore. But worried the ongoing headaches will start again as this is 4 headaches in 1 week now :(

HoneyLovesCake · 20/09/2011 09:31

Ooooh, I am Envy of your massage Oi I bet it will be absolute bliss :)

mopsy take a look at some of the hypnobirthing & natal hypnotherapy births on youtube or mybirth.tv if you're interested. That's how I discovered it & I'm really looking forward to the birth now :)

kri5ty I'm a bit Hmm about sexy lingerie with bump on show too...especially as DP tends to point & laugh whenever he sees my bump. But I don't think something like this would look silly if you want something special.

Feeling very tired today. I think I'd actually be starting a pretty good week (not too many pregnancy complaints) if I could completely forget the fact that I have a mother. I'm sadly at the point where I wish that I could completely cut her out of my life & probably would do if I wasn't tied to her financially (long story). I thought mums were supposed to be helpful & supportive when you're pregnant but mine seems to be having some sort of meltdown & is trying to cause me as much stress as possible...she's making my life a soap opera when I want to be calm & relaxed. Just don't know what to do about her :( I'm going to try & pretend she doesn't exist today & hope she doesn't call, text or email me as any contact ends with me in floods of tears. At least DP is working on a house in the village this week if I need him :)

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 10:28

oh honey sorry about your mum. There should be a manual, or the 10 commandments of mummery, "Thou shalt be positive and supportive of your children", "Thou shalt enforce discipline and respect with love and understanding", "Thou shalt be freely giving of cuddles and affection"... Tell her to buck her ideas up!
Sorry about the headaches mopsy. Not good. :(

lalababy · 20/09/2011 10:34

Well I had my GTT test yesterday. Firstly they couldn't find my vein so I ended up with 4 pricks in the same arm!!! Then they told me that they would call today if there was a problem... and this morning when I got to work there was a voicemail from the hospital to call them back!!!

As it turns out - my blood sugar was totally normal but I have low iron levels so they just called to say starting taking a suppliment and tell your GP. God I had such a scare... I was so worried... I feel so relieved.

HoneyLovesCake · 20/09/2011 11:06

Oi Can I add "Thou shalt not suddenly decide to marry some random man (younger than thy daughter) in an attempt to get attention!" Pretty sure she's getting her parenting tips from Eastenders :o

lala SNAP I got the call from GP this morning...was really hoping to avoid iron tablets as I've heard they can cause constipation but it's the kick in the bum I needed as my diet's gone downhill the past couple of months & as a veggie I should really know better Blush On the bright side I'm hoping that I'll feel less tired once the tablets kick in. Glad your blood sugar is normal.

plupervert · 20/09/2011 12:00

Hello, everyone. I'm really sorry I'm not keeping up very well with everyone.

It's been quite a good week here. Some mum-friends have had new babies recently, and I've had a good physio appointment; physio seemed pleased that I had been doing harder versions of some of my core exercises, and gave me harder versions of them all, and more reps. My core muscles are still weak, and I can't walk for more than about 20 mins without really feeling it, but at least I can feel them now. I know where they are! Grin

Re: sex, if it makes you all feel better, I haven't had a chance to try, as DH is apparently not interested Shock. He needs to go to the gym and get his heart racing again, I think. He was making rather mournful comments about my positive physio appointment this week, saying "And you can say you are much fitter than your husband". Oh, dear.

jigglebum, your DH will step up a bit for the 3yo when the baby arrives; I think that does happen even with men who aren't very interested in babies - the contrast with the "more interesting" child suddenly becomes apparent! Thankfully for the older children... Smile I have some friends whom I saw recently, and this transformation had happened in the bloke, who I always thought was very un-paternal. It was extraordinary. He doesn't seem very interested in the baby, but there is hope for him now! Smile

sevensevenseven · 20/09/2011 12:25

Sorry about your mum honey, feel free to talk about it if it helps you to de-stress.

Re iron tablets, I had to take them last time and thankfully didn't suffer any side effects, so not everyone gets chronic constipation if that's any reassurance!

Had quite a productive morning, I've either started nesting or just suddenly found the energy and motivation to do the housework.

HoneyLovesCake · 20/09/2011 12:33

seven no side effects would be awesome...I tried to take calcium in the 1st trimester & they completely bunged me up Blush so I started eating cereal with loads of milk instead. Did the iron give you more energy? I am soooo tired!

hawthers · 20/09/2011 12:38

top tip - take your iron tablets with orange juice as it will increase the uptake of iron into your blood. but do NOT take with a cup of tea as this will inhibit the uptake of the iron. (see mum my biochemistry degree has been useful). not sure the situation with decaf tea but i wouldn't risk it if you've got an iron issue.

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 12:55

I'm still giggling about getting parenting tips from EastEnders (my memories of EastEnders are of Durty Den and Angie fighting at Christmas, and Arthur shivering - a sure sign of bonkersness - in his allotment shed!).Grin

sevensevenseven · 20/09/2011 12:57

honey sorry I can't remember Blush

HoneyLovesCake · 20/09/2011 13:27

That's fine seven I'll soon find out & will hope in the meantime. Thanks for the tip hawthers. By the way, is anyone still taking pregnancy multi vits? I still have them but I got pretty lax about taking them some time in the 2nd trimester. Stupidly. Blush

Oi funny but that sounds like xmas growing up :o I always felt sorry for Arthur; trying desperately to get away from the melodramatic crazies on the square! Still, nice as it would've been to have a different childhood & a better mother I wake up every day next to DP & I am so grateful for the life we have, the simplicity of it & the lack of drama. Maybe I wouldn't appreciate it as much I didn't have such a stark comparison Hmm

lalababy · 20/09/2011 13:40

been so lax... I am sure my preggo multivits are somewhere. I am so bad at taking tablets on a regular basis not sure how I will take the iron. If I had been good at taking pills I probablly wouldn't be on mumsnet right not Blush

So I guess there are some good things about forgetting to take your pills Grin

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 14:10

What extra vitamins are needed that you can't get from cake?
I took folic acid when I was trying to get preggers, and then for the first weeks as directed, but I haven't taken any supplements since.

(I had two glasses of Prosecco at weekend, and felt bloody awful after - that'll teach me to drink alcohol! Lesson learned!)

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 14:13

honey - your ma and pa sound like mine! :) Growing up was always loud and shouty. My next door neighbours are very loud and shouty.
I worry that the only voices that BabyGinger will recognise when he gets out are my neighbours' and radio 2, coz me and DH are very gentle and quiet. (Completely daft and silly, but quiet.)

sevensevenseven · 20/09/2011 14:55

I'm still taking pregnancy vitamins but only because of the pre-eclampsia last time. I know it probably won't make any difference but I stopped at 12 weeks last time and my diet wasn't great tbh as I literally only fancied junk food. It just reassures me to know I'm doing everything I can to try and prevent it and it stops me feeling guilty on the days when we don't eat vegetables.

Does anyone plan on taking breastfeeding vitamins after the birth or know if they're really necessary?

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 16:17

gotta dash - gotta go and be pampered! laters! XXX

figgygal · 20/09/2011 17:27

Im taking the pregnacare plus tablets still they are magic bullets am putting down my lack of symptoms tiredness cravings etc down to them and as much as the very subtle smell makes me gag i dare not stop taking them just incase.

Sorelip · 20/09/2011 18:17

Are the Pregnacare vits in capsule form? I find now that capsules make my acid worse. My diet has been crap for quite a while, and really needs to improve now. I just feel so tired all the time, that I can't be bothered to plan meals. But if I did, I'd feel less tired...

Re hypnobirthing - I am really interested in it, but do I go for a CD from Amazon, or the £297 2-day course? Sounds like a no-brainer, but I'll stump up the cash if the course is better. If not, which CDs have any of you got?

HoneyLovesCake · 20/09/2011 19:50

Sorelip don't know about the CDs but I'm doing the Hypnobirthing course & it's supposed to be done over 4 or 5 days (12.5 hrs) not 2; I think only the NHS do it over 2 days.

Part of me feels like if I was really really dedicated & had a birthing partner who was the same I might have been able to do it with a CD but probably not & I wasn't willing to take the chance to be honest. I read a lot of reviews & info online & the ones from people using the CD alone were 50/50 whereas the ones from people who'd done a course were 100% positive. Also, looking at what we've covered so far I think DP needed the course; his role as birthing partner is so important...I don't know what natal hypnotherapy teaches but with the Hypnobirthing method you really can't do it on your own.

Saying all that I've heard lots of positive things from ladies on here who just used the CD so maybe they can give you some advice.

Sorelip · 20/09/2011 20:31

Honey where are you located?

aethelfleda · 20/09/2011 20:35

No idea re hypnobirthing I'm afraid! I did use a meditative type technique through the contractions but that wasn't hypnosis as such (it really helped though).

I'm now in combat-slightly-annoying-heartburn mode- have been necking Tums and Remegel (chewy version- much much better than yucky Gaviscon!)
And have been downing large amounts of natural yoghurt lassi which I just WANT, ok??!!

And should be doing all sorts of housework but now the DDs are in bed all I want to do is veg on the sofa and sleeeep! Like some of you I'm on tje pregnacare so my slightly erratic diet is not a concern. I am making this more economical by frequently forgetting to take them Blush

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 21:13

Hi girls, the massage was lush. Grin
It started sat up leaning on a cushion on the bed for a lovely back massage. Then up on the bed (raised top half slightly) for leg massage, arm massage, belly mask, mini facial, face mask, tingly lower leg massage, removal of belly and face masks, head massage. GrinGrinGrin
I bought the tingly leg stuff -!I'm sure it'll be fab if my ankles swell up - she didn't try and sell, I demanded!
I'm not very good at lying still at the moment, I found. I had to raise my legs to take presssure off back and bump, and had to have a glass of water part way through - but they're used to pregnant women needing to try different things to be comfy, so nothing was too much trouble. But it won't be quite as relaxing as the normal massage - because of our in-built discomfort! - but I might go again in 4 weeks. 1h30 for £31, it'd be rude not too! ( the cooling tingly Decleor foot stuff was £30 - that was my luxury treat.
Speaking of which, lala so Envy of your clothes shoppi, ...i think I need to treat myself to a big, stylish, cosy woolly cardy. Wink
