Had no idea what to call it, sorry. Just googled third trimester and that was the recommendation...

mopsytop · 19/09/2011 08:09

Hope your day goes ok msbuggy, I can imagine you feel nervous, I'm sure I'd be the same, hope all goes well.

OiMissus · 19/09/2011 08:19

Have a nice day everyone.
msbuggy your plan sounds lovely, I'm sure you'll have a nice day.
I've brought all the butterfly cakes to work with me this morning (that DH baked yesterday), so I'll be popular very soon. - DH used to work here too, so everyone will soon be telling me how wonderful he is, which makes me very happy indeed. He is a good 'un. :)

mopsytop · 19/09/2011 09:00

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I did, nice and relaxing. I find myself increasingly feeling anxious though - not about anything in particular, just a general feeling of anxiousness. Anyone else feel this? Do you think it's worry about my life changing or what? I am normally a bit of a worrier to be honest, but this seems to be worse than normal, particularly as it is not centred on anything specific.

OiMissus · 19/09/2011 09:10

I don't think I'm a worrier, particularly, and I don't feel worried - but I keep finding that I'm clenching my teeth (Is that the right word, doesn't sound right...) - so that's subconscious stress about something - and quite probably our lives changing. But i'm looking forward to the baby coming - I can't wait. I just need to tell my subconscious that!

sevensevenseven · 19/09/2011 09:49

Sorry you're feeling nervy msbuggy, have a nice relaxing day.

I woke up with a headache and as predicted DS has a cold, think we're going to have a lazy day.

I think it's perfectly normal to be feeling anxious if it's your first child. Just make plenty of time to relax, and maybe read up a bit on labour, birth and babycare so you're as prepared as you can be, you'll honestly be fine once the baby is here. I was still worrying when I was in early labour with DS whether I was ready to be a parent!

OiMissus · 19/09/2011 10:31

Oh my lord... I've just remembered my dreams!!! Twice last night I woke up wanting to call out... ahem... in a Oh Oh Oh - "I'll have what she's having" sort of way. Honestly! I mean properly...! TWICE! (It was great - I must add!) Oh lordy!
It must be through lack of action, my thoughts are making up for it. I didn't wake up DH as it was too late for him to join me Shock, and now he's away for the next couple of nights, so no chance of the real thing either.
But we talked about "relations" on Sunday - because he just doesn't want to anymore. Whilst he loves me and the bump, he doesn't want to make love to the bump. I don't mind particularly, as long as we still have lots of intimacy. but evidently I still have some needs - according to my dreams!
(I'm sorry - is this too much information?!!)

sevensevenseven · 19/09/2011 10:52

oimissus does he know how you feel and do you know why he doesn't want to? If he's worried about hurting the baby just reassure him he won't and that it's perfectly safe. If it's because he's seeing you in more of a motherly way than in a sexy way you need to express that you still have needs and that he's being daft.

sevensevenseven · 19/09/2011 10:59

And if all else fails tell him to make the most of it while you're still up for it, as it's very likely you won't be once the baby arrives.

OiMissus · 19/09/2011 11:28

He's a sensitive guy. And this is all new to him. I suspect with a gentle push, he'll get over being daft. I'll just have to plan a bit of "us time". :)

HoneyLovesCake · 19/09/2011 11:34

Morning ladies, just got back from the dentist where I got a bit of a telling off as my gums are not looking as good as they did 6 months ago. So unfair :( my orthodontist always tells me I'm doing really well; being pregnant with braces is not easy but my dentist is really tough. I know she's right though; I've been snacking on sweet things far too much lately so I'm going to try to stick to 3 meals a day from now on....just as soon as I finish this slice of cake :o

When I tried to get out of bed yesterday morning the room was really spinning. I think I must have overdone things last week since the last time this happened it was after a really heavy work week. I may need to rethink my maternity leave plans. Not sure how to do it financially but if I had to labour right now the way I'm feeling I'd be too exhausted to get through it so something's going to have to give. I wish there was a way we could get a definite delivery date so that I could take the week before to catch up my sleep...anyone have a good psychic? :) Despite my exhaustion I'm feeling a lot better than last week so hopefully if I don't work too hard I'll have a better week.

Oi can't believe your DH made you cakes Shock I can't imagine DP doing that. Has he always baked or have you just trained him well? Wink

LittleMissFlustered · 19/09/2011 11:50

I'm making cake to take to toddler group tomorrow. If I find the energy from somewhere:)

Got attached by the wool shop today and bought some cheesy acrylic to make a couple of blankets out for my cousin's kids. Camo green and beige for him, teal and screaming fuscia for herGrin Those colour combos could easily be reversed in my house, but those two are very happy with their genders:)

OiMissus · 19/09/2011 12:29

honey I can't remember how it started, - perhaps with bread (he makes bread too) - but it was totally his doing, earlier this year. No training or pushing from me at all. It must have been a weekend when there was no sport on TV!
Ah! An auntie got us a subscription to Good Food magazine last Christmas, that must have been his inspiration. :)

figgygal · 19/09/2011 12:39

I have a pain relief talk at Bath hospital tonight about Epidurals they only do them every 6 weeks and the next one is end of October which i am not sure could go to am probably going to be the least Pg woman there tonight at 28 weeks. Want to educate self as much as possible and i think it is very detailed (it lasts an hour alone) so will update once have returned as think a few of us are considering them.

It does mean i wont have time for dinner tonight so am having cheese and potato pie with beans for lunch from the staff restaurant at work......so good!!!

HoneyLovesCake · 19/09/2011 12:57

Talking of pain relief...we tried the "Sensory Gate Valve" in my Hypnobirthing lesson yesterday & it was amazing! Basically, you use a really simple visualization to bring about a loss of sensation in selected parts of your body. I really didn't expect this to work but both DP & I managed to numb our hands & transfer the numbness to our jaw by touching it. I'm going to try & work on this one at least once a week as it's got so much potential...like an epidural without the needle :o

HoneyLovesCake · 19/09/2011 13:05

"Oi" Amazing...DP occasionally reads XBOX360 magazine, maybe I could slip some easy recipes into that? Hmm To be honest though I'd probably get quite irritated if he spent too much time in my kitchen...he never puts anything back in the right place.

msbuggywinkle · 19/09/2011 13:58

I have a baking DP too! He made chocolate brownies yesterday, which were lush. He bakes birthday cakes when I give birth too, it was chocolate for DD1, lemon for DD2.

honey it is ace isn't it! I love hypnobirthing, I convinced myself last time that contractions were 'interesting sensations requiring my attention' and as long as only DP or my doula were touching me, I could keep it up easily.

sevensevenseven · 19/09/2011 14:36

I've just ordered a natal hypnotherapy CD from amazon, I thought I'd give it a try.

DH used to be a chef, he makes great savoury dishes but reckons he's terrible at making cakes. Thankfully I make great cakes, just a shame I can't be bothered at the moment!

mopsytop · 19/09/2011 14:40

My husband cooks loads, and bakes bread but I try and steer him away from the desserts/cakes as I love baking and selfishly want to be the 'best' at one kitchen thing (I know, so childish! but he is a really talented cook and I want to retain at least some bit of kitchen credit!!). He did make meringues this weekend though, and brioche. Yum.

mopsytop · 19/09/2011 14:41

p.s. what is this hypnotherapy birth thing? Haven't really heard of it apart from on here. Would originally have been sceptical of this kind of thing but since I started yoga and meditation and love both I think I am more open to new things like this.

BeeMyBaby · 19/09/2011 14:49

I am honestly too cheap to even buy the CD for hynobirthing, I'm going to go for the free gritted teeth option with lots of mooing and hope its quick. I kind of enjoyed that last time as it was like a roller coster, not that pleasant at the time but I definitely wanted to do it again.

DH and DD are finally coming home today after over three weeks of me being soooooooooo bored. I'm very excited to show how much my bump has grown :)

I'm not against drugs in labour, last time I had pethidine but must have been quite out of it as I can't remember much of the 2 hours between being given pethidine and reaching the pushing stage. Providing I don't get pre-eclampsia again and need constant fetal monitoring I want a more active labour than last time, on pethidine I don't know how capable I would have been even standing up Blush

Beemybaby I only ordered the labour and birth preparation CD, £11.99 with free postage.

mopsy I'm a bit sceptical too tbh but figured for £11.99 it's worth giving it a go.

jigglebum · 19/09/2011 17:06

Afternoon ladies. Sorry to hear of so many aches and pains. I have been relatively pain free and feeling quite well (apart from one stomach bug) since the second trimester, apart from a dodgy ankle that goes now and then and a somewhat weak pelvic floor (dread to think what it will be like after no 2), so think I am quite lucky.

Had a manic but lovely weekend at a friend's wedding but was a whole weekend thing and 5 hours drive away so somewhat knackered today.

Thanks for all your sympathies re DHs lack of attention. I think he is just slow to pick up on things unless you spell it out. We had a nice weekend away together with DS too. I know it will be tough until the baby sleeps well but we will survive somehow!

Best go and get the next pile of washing done.

Huge sympathies about the break in Msbuggy Hope your day has been ok (and everyone elses). Must also make my 28 week midwife appointment for thurs.

kri5ty · 19/09/2011 20:50

oi going back to "relations", i feel bad as OH isn't really getting any, even though he wants to... i just feel too big, and "down there" must be a horrible sight!!

its not like i can dress up in some nice lingerie to give myself a pick me up, as i just think i'd look silly with a bump!!
He hasn't said anything, but i know it must get to him... Plus with the god d`am shift work by the time he is home im too tired (tonight he is home at 9.45)

Ps i d the teeth clench thing too... i have to have a gum shield from the dentist as i do it at night and grind my teeth!!

Had my 28 week app today, and got told i had a "lovely tight bump"... not sure if thats good or bad lol

OiMissus · 20/09/2011 07:42

Congrats on the "lovely tight bump" kristy. :)

As for fancy lingerie... well, the white cotton maternity bras I originally bought from M&S, are now a daring shade of grey, and quite often, I'll borrow a pair of his old fally-apart cotton boxers to wear in bed. C'mon and sex me up! :) (I can make an effort really, and I actually do feel sexy sometimes - I feel very womanly with my extra curvature!)

Had a rubbish night last night, DH is away and so I got paranoid - thinking that I'd get broken into too. :(
Have a rubbishy day ahead finalising budgets, but then all will be saved at 17:30 when I am booked in for my "Sumptuous Mother-To-Be Massage" - 1h30 of bliss, I hope! Grin

msbuggywinkle · 20/09/2011 08:49

oi sounds lovely, I love massages.

kristy definitely a good thing!

I'm being productive this morning, washed the happy wraps and muslins, and am off to the shops soon to get the ingredients for DP's birthday meal. Have been teasing him about being old as he's 29 now. We're having steak, mash and veg for dinner and am making his favourite lemon drizzle cake. Might light the wood burner too looking at the weather!
