I only did it a test this morning and have not even told my husband yet!

RedSlippers, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you're doing as ok as an be expected in the circumstances, and are taking it easy.

No news from me, apart from more bleeding - always worrying. Doctors this afternoon (booked for a fortnight), so will see what they say.

myweeangel - I think it might be too soon for any of us to be truly 'showing' (although I may be wrong) but I do know that extreme bloating is often a symptom at our stage? I've been suffering from it - along with a tender stomach - and am finding some of my pairs of trousers problematic..

cupcakefairy · 23/09/2011 09:50

Morning ladies..
Yes I definitely feel like I'm showing and only 6+2 Hmm met up with NCT friends last night, one of whom is 16 weeks pregnant and I swear has NO bump...I spent the evening trying to hold my tum in so nobody would guess Grin

I'll recommend again 'The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth' by Kaz Cooke...I found it by far the best one I read first time round (and I had several...) easy to read, funny but not in a try-hard way, very real, and good solid advice too.

redslippers so so sorry to hear your news but I'll echo again the mc boards on here are amazing. I'm still part of a group of ladies I 'met' on here just after we'd all miscarried and we've seen each other through many highs and lows of ttc etc since then. Take care of yourself, eat lots of chocolate, bury yourself in a duvet & cry...and then dust down and try again; you WILL be a mummy :)

BlueCrane · 23/09/2011 09:53

Morning all....well I am definitely very bloated and by the evening feel as though I'm showing but it's almost definitely air Blush I put on several lb pre/post my MC which I haven't managed to lose so I am hiding in baggy tops and have been for a while so hoping the bloating isn't too obvious! My work trousers are all too tight though which is a bit of a problem. I had to bloating issue with last pregnancy too and was dying to get into mat trousers to be more comfortable...suspect the same will happen again this time! Tum really not right though - v constipated yesterday, entirely the opposite today Confused oh and I was awake from 1:30am this morning...anyone else not sleeping? Only 4+3 today...

My friend has been recommending a book called something like 'best friend's guide to pregnancy' which she says is excellent...we're going to tell her in a couple of weeks so I will ask if I can borrow it then!

Right...back to work!

Quenelle · 23/09/2011 09:54

Morning all. Hi and congratulations new people Smile

Funnily enough my DH said he thought I was starting to show on Sunday, I'm only 7 weeks. I think it's just bloating, although my jeans don't feel too uncomfortable yet.

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 10:02

I'm bloated to the point I'm living in leggings now sooo comfy! Smile

halecromp · 23/09/2011 10:15

I'm loving my leggings and jeggings too x

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 10:38

Glad I'm not the only one Smile their ideal because you can get away with a baggy top so ideal Smile

musicalmrs · 23/09/2011 11:26

I'm off shopping this afternoon specifically aiming to get some leggings! Leggings and dresses should see me through work (struggling with my work trousers at the moment)... fed up of feeling uncomfy.

Quenelle · 23/09/2011 11:30

Where can you get the best leggings for not too much money?

musicalmrs · 23/09/2011 12:08

Quenelle, I've been looking at supermarkets, but with no success. Maybe I've been in the wrong place. I'm going to head to Primark later - not my favourite place (clothes rarely fit me properly!), but mainly because I want to get ones that fit nicely, and want to be able to spend more on some bigger ones when/if I require them.

Either way, I'll pass a myriad of other shops on my way to Primark that I'll also pop into - so I'll let you know. I hear there's a Next sale going on too, they might have some good quality ones for a reasonable price, depending how much is actually in the sale....

Quenelle · 23/09/2011 12:24

Thanks musicalmrs I think I had some New Look maternity ones last time. But I've had non-maternity ones since that are a bit thin. I don't want them gaping over my bum Blush

mildertduck · 23/09/2011 12:47

I feel like the bloatiest bloater that ever bloated today. So I'm eating cake, because obviously that will help.

quenelle I keep hearing good things about H&M. I wish we had one in Oxford - it is the worst place for shopping unless you fancy tourist tat or you are a student. Off to London tomorrow for afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's impending bairn (due next week! OMG!) so may take opportunity to have a whizz round the shops. Tried some jeans in Mothercare yesterday which... no. Horrible things.

In other news, I have not vommed today! HURRAY! Which is not to say I haven't felt queasy, but I may propose marriage to the GP who prescribed me cyclizine (I asked her to shoot me, originally, but she said that probably wouldn't be good for the baby. Hmph).

Booking-in appointment on Monday with GP (wonder why it's with the GP at my surgery? That said there are only 2 midwives and it's a big catchment area with squillions of updiffed women, so maybe that's why), meet the midwife on 13th October and then scan has been moved back to 25th October when I'll be 12+1. Busy busy busy...

Northey · 23/09/2011 12:58

Hurrah for no vomming, mildert. That must be such a relief! I am really bloated as well (though that could well be all the carbs I'm hoovering down merrily at the moment). Last night I had the most awful pain from what I think was trapped wind. It was painful enough to wake me twice, and nothing seemed to relieve it at all. After half an hour sitting on the loo and googling away to discover what sorts of lower abdominal pain you're actually meant to seek help for, even in the middle of the night, it suddenly lifted, and I managed to stagger back to bed.

Have spent this morning weeping at only slightly sad things Blush

elizabethtailored · 23/09/2011 13:41

I feel your pain with the trapped wind Northey! Is awful. A really sharp pain and seem to be full of air. When I blow out my stomach goes rock hard and giant bump appears - great fun practising this in front of the mirror last night.

Have been eating so much more than normal and it is now uncomfortable trying to 'suck in' when standing in front of my boss. Hoping he is an unobservant male!

Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the weekend. Lie ins - woohoo!

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 14:11

I also have serious wind issues Have to keep making excuses to leave the room otherwise it's so Blush

Byrnsie30 · 23/09/2011 14:53

Hey all,

Was just typing my message and it disappeared - so annoying!
I have been AWOL for a few days, so hope everyone is OK (too many posts for me to skim through this time!)

My symptoms include sore boobs, tiredness and nausea (no sickness though!)
I am spotting again. Started yesterday after a bit of sexy stuff (not full on sex, but, ya know...) Anyone else experienced this? I'm trying not too worry as seems like old blood, it hasn't increased and there is no other discharge (TMI!)

I am going for my booking appointment with the midwife next week. I will be 7weeks+4 (by my estimate!) I had thought that those appointments were done at 10 weeks, but my surgery now likes to get them done at 6-7 weeks! I was lucky to get an appointment and only know this new info because a friend of mine told me! Anyway TTFN xx

Northey · 23/09/2011 15:23

I had a tiny bit of spotting after (self-created) orgasm, byrnsie. I didn't dare again for 3 weeks. And I don't feel happy at the thought of sex until after 12 weeks. But I have always had a ridiculously sensitive cervix, which gushes with blood at the merest whisper of a smear stick, let alone any sex position which might result in it being bumped!

CODwidow · 23/09/2011 15:37

I had slight spotting in 2 of my previous pregnancies and all was well but think any type of bleeding is scary and hard not too worry

BlueCrane · 23/09/2011 16:16

Oh the trapped wind pain...I definitely feel everyone's pain with that...soooo painful and sooo wish I could just take my trousers off as they're digging in to my bloatedness...unfortunately sat in the middle of the office and a v male dominated one at that so Blush seriously not an option unfortunately! I keep popping to the loo to see if any air will release itself but alas no movement at all!

M&S leggings are my favourite TBH and only £7.50 I think. They hold their shape nicely and aren't thin either plus come in cropped or full length!

dreamingofanallotment · 23/09/2011 16:31

Phew, this thread is going quickly! I was coming on here to ask if anyone else was struggling to fit into their clothes....and it seems everyone is!! I had to do my trousers up with a hairband yesterday as I couldn't get the button closed Blush I think it is all just trapped wind though! Sickness is getting me now - but I've found eating biscuits in bed before I get up seems to do the trick and means I don't retch in the shower. Lovely! DH is also being v. nice and making my lunch for me at the moment as the smell of the fridge makes me heave! (and I don't think it's just that I'm lazy and haven't cleaned it out!!!)

Will definitely be heading to M&S BlueCrane I need some leggings and dresses for work so I don't feel so squished all the time!

How many of you have told work yet? One of the girls at my work (I'm a teacher) announced she was pregnant today, and I was itching to be able to say me too! I haven't told anyone yet (apart from DH of course!) but I might have to tell a few friends this weekend!

Ooh and to those that have done this malarkey before, what happens at the midwife appointment at about 8 weeks? DH was asking if he needed to be there, and I said I thought it was just height, weight, testing for millions of diseases etc etc - is that on the right lines? Ta!

titan · 23/09/2011 17:56

Hi All,

Def not worth taking your DH to the booking appt dreaming. it's very dull. Just medical history, bp and blood tests and lots of waiting around.

I have had trouble keeping it a secret. Generally tend to blurt things out without meaning to and once a few people knew I just thought sod it and told quite a few. Two or three people at work know now.

My main symptom today is ravenous hunger. Keep raiding the fridge and gobbling bits of leftover Indian takeaway. Also having some cramps but suspect the two might be related!

dreamingofanallotment · 23/09/2011 18:15

Thanks titan, I presumed that would be the case. I think DH is trying to do the 'supportive husband' thing! I felt rather mean telling him he didn't need to come!

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 23/09/2011 18:24

Oh so glad to read everyone's having bloated fat tummies and trapped wind. Honestly I'm only about 6 weeks and OH has commented that I'm showing already!!! I get home and get straight into my PJ bottoms. I've turned into a slob already!
Still very retchy and nauseous all morning, cant stomach more than a few rich tea biscuits and some salt sticks until about lunchtime. OH now has a routine of bringing me biscuits and a cuppa tea in bed to have before i get up, (so not all bad!) which amazingly has helped loads!

Most people at my work know. I work in x-ray so i have to tell my boss as soon as I know. Last time i was pregnant i tried to keep it secret, which just meant everyone gossiped about me and stared, which really annoyed me. Then when I had mc everyone was told anyway! So figured might as well at least get to tell my work friends myself before the gossips do! I've told my parents and sister, but none not told friends outside of work yet.

Thanks for the book recommendation I'll have a look. Grin

skinnymuffin · 23/09/2011 19:29

Evening all :)

Bluecrane I'm not sleeping either, woken around 3/4 most nights this week. It was the same last time around, for the first and third trimester. I have to go totally caffeine-free although I draw the line at chocolate! Oh joy...

Also recommend M&S leggings, I got a two pack last time for about £15 I think.

Am also a bloater Blush. I find peppermint tea and especially peppermint and nettle tea work wonders if you can stomach them. I have developed quite a taste for them.

Anyone bought a second-time-around book? Any good?

Re booking in appts I would say don't take dp, do take a good book!!

DialMforMummy · 23/09/2011 20:01

Sort of glad to read that you have trouble sleeping too skinnymuffin, I do too, waking up 3/4 times a night. a right pain.
Some trousers are getting tight too, but then again, I have been snacking waaay too much.
This phase sucks a bit really, you look a bit fat but not pregnant, you are tired and you worry until you get the 12 weeks scan.
