kitegirl · 25/01/2006 06:55

great to read about your scans aprilgirl and mojomummy! glad they went well

hope you are all feeling better and babies are well. almost the 12wk mark (some of you must be there already?!)

I saw my midwife yesterday, lovely, absolutely wonderful, one-on-one care throughout and they come to my house. With ds I was assigned to Queen Charlotte's hospital in West London which was so awful that I remember crying in the car park after an ante-natal check-up, and then signing up with a private midwifery practice. I won't have a proper mw appointment until 16 weeks, but with my history (blood clots, fibroids, breech presentation, bicornuate uterus, one elective cs, you name it...) it's full on from then on, the consultant will want to see me from 20 weeks onwards. Blah. VBAC was mentioned, yikes. Shouldn't start worrying about it yet. Got my nuchal next friday which is my next fear, I so want this baby to be ok.

nbg, your idea of attaching a midwife permanently to yourself sounds like the perfect solution. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you ask .

BigHotMama · 25/01/2006 09:54

Morning ladies, Hope we are well. Thanks Arabica for the link on tests, it was really helpful. PT I'm now 12+3 and stopped taking my folic acid as have been taking them for around 9 months, was starting to think i had an addiction ha! Congrats on the scans to Aprilgirl and Mojo, I had mine last Friday and couldnt how you could the little heartbeat and the legs were doing some crazy kicking. Am counting days until my 20 week one now. Kitegirl, dont mean to sound dum but whats VBAC stand for as I'm new to all this lingo on here.
Has anybody starting putting on weight yet?
Whats the age ranging from on here? I'm 29 and my midwife called me an 'old'un'...

olivo · 25/01/2006 11:11

well there's no hope for me BHM, I'm nearly 32!!

having the usual worries today as i don't feel sick, although I spent the best part of yestreday evening retching ! hmmm, nice!! I can't wait for my scan, but at the same time am worried sick in case its not good.I'm hoping the doctor will reassure me tomorrow - either that or i'll feel really rough tomorrow!!

hope everyone is ok.xx

Arabica · 25/01/2006 11:59

BHM tell her your mate Arabica is 44!

trix1 · 25/01/2006 15:38

Hello all, Ive been for another scan today, im so lucky I have the best consultant ever, I just phone him and he tells me to pop in and see him. MY dh is joking that we have a photo album dedicated to scan picures

Everything went well today - now 11 weeks and the baby has grown loads since last weeks scan, my morning sickness has almost gone and the retching is going now as well. I have a massive lump out front its so obvious im pregnant except I look about 6 months not 11 weeks.

Ive woken up today with a terrible head cold so I took the day off work.

Hope you are all starting to feel better in yourselves too.

BigHotMama · 25/01/2006 15:53

Arabica thats amazing, here was me thinking I might be the oldest on here. I think the midwives can make you feel a bit paranoid when they say things like that, maybe they're used to seeing much younger girls in the club from where I come from (Black Country, West Midlands).
Olivo, fingers crossed for your app and scan.

BigHotMama · 25/01/2006 15:59

Hiya Trix, fantastic news about your scan, nice to hear you have an understanding consultant too. I havent put any weight on yet but I cant hold my stomach in any longer it feels like its going to explode, and you could mistake me for about 5 months ha!

melsy · 25/01/2006 16:31

So glad all the scans are going well. Its a relief of sorts till the next scan eh ! Kitegirl your care sounds amazing, thats great. Not quite sure its like that in North London.

I phoned the hospital I wanted to go to and Im being registered now , so will get my letter next week about my scan date , wont have a yippee till the letters in my hands!!! The only worry is they have been they have to register EVERYONE who comes to them, not sure if its to do with the new law that came in, but if they are totally and utterly booked to capacity , when it comes to labour there may not be enough of the team or rooms to go round. I just CANT go to the previous hell house.

still feel nausious , but the retching has nearly subsided and Im finding going food shopping and cooking a little easier. Im just ZONKED today though , were still in pj's !. I also discovered I can no longer wear me skinny jeans as bump pokes out to much and they dig in. So out comes all me clothes from before losing weight, except its all big on me and baggy YUEURCH, dont want to feel all big and baggy yet, cant succumb. All my old maternity is far to huge even from the early weeks. Im harking after some skinny maternity jeans from Top shop !!!!AM I MAD.

ooops I do yabber on a tad

purpleturtle · 25/01/2006 19:22

Well I can't be that paranoid because I bought myself a couple of maternity tops this morning. Don't really need them yet, but I had the opportunity.

I know what you mean about baggy clothes, Melsy. I've been wearing a pair of jeans a size bigger than I normally wear, and with the bit of weight I think I've lost they're now uncomfortably baggy - and I keep getting a cold draught round my middle when they slip down and my top rides up!

kitegirl · 25/01/2006 19:31

I wore my dh's clothes during my last pregnancy, he has a pair of Diesel jeans that were perfect! Top Shop wasn't doing maternity then.

VBAC - Vaginal Birth After Caesarean. The midwives are very pro. I've got 7 months to worry about it...

olivo · 25/01/2006 20:57

Hi everyone. Even more paranoid now as I have a pale brown discharge and a bit of pain here and there - like a very mild period pain. It is just like I had about 4 weeks ago. I know there is nothing I can do and I'm going to the doctors anyway tomorrow but I'm really stressed out.
sorry if this isnt the place to talk about it but maybe you can send me some positive vibes and cross your fingers for me?
x

melsy · 25/01/2006 21:12

aww Im sorry your having this worry olivio, if its any help a friend had the same all through her pg and she now has a wonderful 5yr old.

Sending those good thoughts to you now xxx

trix1 · 25/01/2006 21:13

Olivio - Try and not to worry im sure its just old blood. Not much use I know. If you had it four weeks ago and everything was ok im sure it will be now. Take Care. Phone the docs/midwife first thing though to put your mind at rest.

trix1 · 26/01/2006 08:54

Olivio - How are things this morning?

trix1 · 26/01/2006 08:55

Some of the early due in August Mums must be just going into the second trimester, how fantastic is that.

Nbg · 26/01/2006 10:08

Positive vibes coming your way Olivio. x

Nothing really to report here Apart from a few headaches which are teeing me off but I have read it's quite normal so hey ho!

4 days till my scan and I'm getting really giddy about it now. A girl who dh works with is a couple of weeks ahead of me and she had her scan last week. She said that you could see it waving and everything was very clear.

I couldn't decide wether to take dd with us or not. I think if the scan is quite clear it would be really good. She's been pretending to listen to the babys heartbeat with some of her toys, lol!

How clear were all of your scans?

trix1 · 26/01/2006 11:00

My scan yesterday was really clear, the baby has grown loads since last week. What are we 11+3 now yeah heah

Nbg · 26/01/2006 11:01

Yey !!!!

It's giddyville here

trix1 · 26/01/2006 11:06

And about 10 days to the 2nd Trimester, although you will probably find out at your scan that you are further on :0

olivo · 26/01/2006 11:07

Morning! thanks for your reassurances and positive vibes! I went to the docs and she said not to worry. She looked at my notes from the early scan at 6+5 and checked me over - she said that my boobs looked how they should for a pregnant woman, and the fact that I had spent the morning so far retching was good!! She also said the brown discharge should be old, and is probably just a bit of clearing out. So I'm determined not to worry unless the pain gets more persistent or I get more proper bleeding. The good thing is, all my blood tests have come back fine (but I'm AB- so dh has to have his tested to see if he is + or -).

So fingers crossed....

hopefully scan in a couple of weeks - she was sorting it as I left.

hope everyone else is ok - trix, glad your scan went well.x
