Arabica · 20/01/2006 18:10

Well done Aprilgirl! Glad one of us is feeling better.
Melsy, sorry to hear about your ankle. I had a sprain in November that took 7 weeks to heal! Give it plenty of ice & use arnica cream to bring out the bruising.
DS now knows there is a baby in my tummy. He has given it a name...Eilis Pinga! Eilis (pronounced Eye-leash) is the name of a seriously cute toddler friend from his ex childminders' that he is in love with. And Pinga, Pingu's cute little sister! If it's a boy it's Zac Noah (2 more of his friends). I sort of like the idea of Pinga, but not sure about the rest!

olivo · 20/01/2006 18:42

well done Aprilgirl!

sorry to hear about your ankle, melsy - take it easy, (if you can!)and mint choc chip sounds good..... might add it to my shopping list!

i'm feeling dreadful again- really hot, sick and shaky - havent been sick but the smells coming from the kitchen are too much!!

i'm freaking out a bit about the lack of nutrients I'm getting -I just dont feel like eating properly. should i be forcing myself or what? I eat healthily when I can but the last few days has been utter rubbish. I am making sure I take my vitamin tablet every day though. anyone else the same?

melsy · 20/01/2006 20:15

Poor you olivio , sounds like you might have a virus may be, or do you get hot and shaky with the sickness(dont want to make you think your ill aswill) ? I must say Ive had a real virusy feeling day like you too, may be from doing to much, good move to have taken a sicky olivio as you need to have some rest. OOOh u reminded me I have one mint choc chip ice cream lolly thing left YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Funny isnt it , how you can be as sick as a dog , but still want to eat certain things with relish (sp?)as not the thing to go with hamburgers , but enjoyment!!!!!!!

trix1 · 20/01/2006 20:55

Well done on getting to 12 weeks araica and aprilgirl.
NBG im with you 10+3 and counting - like the rest of you I feel ok one minute and then sick and tired another. Instead of being grateful for feeling better I then worry that I have no symptoms! :0

Nbg · 21/01/2006 09:25

Poor you Melsy! I hope it heals up quick for you.

Olivio, I really wouldn't worry about what your eating. Just eat something. You can concentrate on the rights and wrongs when your sickness has passed. I'm sure the last thing you want to eat right now is something that makes you feel quesey.
Like I said just eat something, the hungrier you are the worse you will feel. Snacking alot an not leaving it too long between meals really is the key for me and I feel pretty good. It's just like some of you, when food is being cooked it makes me a bit iffy but having said that, aren't pregnant women supposed to have a heightened sense of smell?

Anybody know where Pucca and Lockets are? They haven't posted for a while. Hope your both ok
Hope things are ok with you too Mojomummy

Have to say I have woke up feeling quite down today. I have no idea why. Had my Brother and sister in law round last night and we had a right larf to say the least and now I feel all miserable! Although dh is back at his sleep over job today for the first time since before xmas so we'll barely see him over the next 4 days.

Ah well, hey ho.

10+4 Trix, Woohoo!

Nbg · 21/01/2006 13:03

Well I certainly don't feel down anymore.

I called one of midwives in our area this morning as I have been getting some visual disturbances but tbh I've been ignoring them. The midwife came round and she was so lovely. Checked my BP which was ok and then said she would have a feel of my stomach as there wasn't much else she could do.

Well she felt it and said she was going to try and find the heartbeat as she could really feel things inside (whatever that means!)
She tried once and nothing but she didn't give and felt my stomach again and said that she should be able to hear something.
Well she did

Could hear the little heartbeat going like mad

Cannot tell you how chuffed I am. I have a great big grin on my face!

So it's making me think if I may be slightly futher on than 10 weeks but I'm not getting my hopes up.

olivo · 21/01/2006 13:49

glad you're ok nbg - how exciting to hear the heartbeat too . I'd give anything to know that everything is ok in there ( although the sickness is still with me so I hope that is a good indication!!) how soon till your scan?

got my doctors appointment on thursday so hopefully will know about date of scan after that. she took my blood and things last time iIwas there - any idea what else they will do? hopefully i'll get weighed - its the lightest I've been in months so would be nice to have it recorded!
hope everyone is feeling ok today.x

Nbg · 21/01/2006 13:57

So chuffed!

My scan is a week on Monday, the 30th.

How far are you now Olivio? They may have a listen in for a heartbeat.
I was told there was no way before 14 weeks but obviously thats not right

They'll probably check your urine sample, BP, weight and have a feel of your stomach.

olivo · 21/01/2006 16:19

I'm only 9wks, will be 9+6 when I see her. Just want to get my scan date booked as soon as I can, then I can suss out the hospital a bit. It was the Gynae dept that did my early scan - they were really nice, especially as I cried when I went in (scared!) and I cried when I came out (relieved!) - hopefully the ante-natal dept will be nice too - I always cry when I'm not used to something ( I must sound like a total lightweight!!)
must remember and take my wee sample! how ARE you meant to get it in the pot without weeing all over the outside and your hands?

Nbg · 21/01/2006 16:24

lol, you don't!

Thats part and parcel of being pg I think, although I remember with dd I mastered it mid pregnancy and lost it again when I was too big to see what I was doing

You might find that they give you a date at your appt or you'll get one through the post. Mine came exactly 1 week after I saw my midwife.

lunavix · 22/01/2006 14:14

Hi everyone, feeling ick today i've got really bad pains. Hoping it's just constipation again but it's so easy to panic. Still feel nauseauous though so hoping that's a good sign.

olivo, my midwife apt is friday so I'll be 9+6 Hoping she brings a doppler, I just want some reassurance!

olivo · 22/01/2006 16:06

afternoon!
hope your pains aren't too bad lunavix - make sure you take it easy. is the doppler the thing that you can hear the heartbeat with? if you'll be 9+6 on Fri, I'll be 9+5 when I go on Thursday!!let me know how it goes!

Feeling better today, still a bit nauseous but went out for a long walk this morning and have eaten lots of S + V crisps all day .just a bit uncomfortable in my trousers (must be all the crisps!)
how is everyone else?

Arabica · 22/01/2006 16:28

Hi everyone
Been to pregnancy yoga todayyou're allowed to go to the class once you're over 12 weeksand it was lovely. My nausea is getting worse, though, I've been queasy all day long. One of the class members is a homeopath so I'm going to see if she can help me. I'm really pi@@@ed off that it's getting worse just when it's supposed to be getting better!
Glad to hear about the heartbeats. I've got my appt on Friday with the midwives and hopefully they'll be able to hear something through the flab!

aprilgirl · 22/01/2006 18:38

glad u are all ok, the sickeness for me is gone almost but cant get rid of the stinking headache i have had for the last 2 days feel like crap and got the worst spots in the world and generally look like a pile of poop!! me n dp arent really speaking too which isnt helping things not going to get stresssed just going to let him ween his self out of his pitysome mood!!!!! [SAD] got scan tuesday so cant wait!!!!! get to see my baby worried about that too what if there is nothing there? i know im being silly!!!!

purpleturtle · 22/01/2006 18:45

I'm beginning to feel like I've made this pregnancy up! I have to keep reminding myself that my last period was in November, I've had a BFP, and I feel crap. I just keep thinking I could get to the scan and they'll not find anything. Evidently, pregnancy has turned me barking .

Nbg, it does sound like you might be further on than you thought. My friend had an appointment at 9 weeks and the midwife couldn't feel anything, which she said was a good sign that it wasn't twins! I don't think they can usually hear a heartbeat so early. Maybe you'll be leaving us for the July thread, too!

I hope a midwife contacts me this week, so we can get this whole show on the road, so to speak.

olivo · 22/01/2006 20:24

I know how you feel Aprilgirl and purpleturtle - I'm exactly the same.
Lunavix - how are your pains? hope you're feeling better.
hoever gave the tip on the mint choc chip ice cream - melsy, was it you? - was spot on!! it's the best!!
hope everyone is ok ( except for the nausea, spots etc!!! xx

melsy · 22/01/2006 20:42

lol olivio , Im just letting my dinner go down before getting my chops round my co-op dark choc crunch mint choc chip ice cream lolly naughtyness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU MUST ALL GET SOME !!!!!

lunavix · 22/01/2006 21:53

I couldn't really get in all my clothes before becoming pg (due to a holiday and indulgence!) so I'm still struggling but I definately haven't put anything on, I have lost a pound or two but the fact I'm only eating junk is helping me not to lose too much lol

Good luck to everyone with upcoming scans apts etc, I can't imagine why they're cutting down the amount of apts pg people get, we need more lol!

arabica - don't say your nausea is getting worse, I'm banking on it going soon!

Arabica · 22/01/2006 22:37

I had some ice-cream Lunavix, and it seems to have cleared it up! So much for me not eating sugar for a while.
I've just been bidding on ebay for various items of maternity clothing. If all goes well I will have 4 pairs of trousers and a swimming costume. Never used ebay before so am expecting to be gazumped at the last moment.

mojomummy · 22/01/2006 23:27

Aaah Arabic, NEVER bid until the last few seconds

Good luck with your potential purchases !

webchick · 23/01/2006 04:46

Just thought I would let you know I had a miscarriage late last night - this came as no big surprise as I stopped feeling pregnant as such about a week ago although I couldn't do much anyway and the midwife at the surgery said to wait until my scan which was meant to be ths Fri.

Better to end now that in a few more weeks/months.

Good luck to you all for the next 6 months or so I hope the summer brings you lots of healthy babies!

kitegirl · 23/01/2006 05:43

Really sad to read about your miscarriages webchick and rubles. you must be feeling awful, so sorry. big hugs. hopefully you'll be back on another ante-natal board soon

kitegirl · 23/01/2006 05:50

hi guys, back from hols with a bump! We were away without ds and I was looking forward to sleeping in every morning, except that woke up at 4am EVERY DAY. Slept really lightly last time with ds as well. Wanted to slap everyone eating scrambled eggs next to me at breakfast table. Yuk.

can't do up jeans now and boobs are now the size of Brazil. There was a discussion on bras - I heard about the ban on underwired but I wore them as felt very droopy otherwise! Have gone up a cup size, dh very excited

hope everyone is feeling ok, now that we are coming up to the 12wk mark!

babylily · 23/01/2006 09:26

Me too kitegirl -
Just noticed when I got dressd this morning in very low slung trousers and couldn't do the belt up to the usual notch. I've put on 2lb so it isn't extra weight as all that has to be on my enormous bubs! Very scary as I never had this with my previous pregnancies so early (I have a fear of having twins and having to sell my lovely car which only seats 4!)

I wanted to keep my pregancy secret until at least 16 weeks but the way things are going it isn't going to be easy!

melanie (10+4)

olivo · 23/01/2006 11:12

really sorry to hear that webchick hope things go better for you in the future.
olivo xx
