Morning all!

Hope you've all had nice weekends. I officially entered the second trimester yesterday so fingers crossed the sickness will start to wear off. It was my birthday yesterday and my sister in law made me an amazing gift set from lush of all things to help during pregnancy and I just wanted to tell you all because in it was a massage bar to get rid of stretch marks and it's amazing! My skin felt brand new after I'd put it on, it's called each peach. I've really struggled looking for stretch mark things because I'm allergic to nuts and a lot contain almond or hazelnut oil but this is free from nuts! Has anyone else got any products they swore by during pregnancy? I'm trying to look after myself as much as possible while I've still got time, and while DH isn't too tired to give me a massage before bed!

babycarmen · 14/08/2011 12:28

Hello everyone!

14+6 now, sickness is well and truely wearing off, i cant tell you how good it feels, although still on sickness tabs for now, but a much lower dose.

And as of yesterday i have been feeling baby move!! Much earlier then my first pregnancy, which i didnt feel til 18 weeks and i wasnt sure if it was or not at first but now im 99% sure it is baby :) very gentle and lovely feeling.
I have the midwife on the 31st so will hopefully hear the heartbeat then, i cant wait :) Really cant wait til DD and DP can feel the baby, will make it so much more special.

My energy is starting to come back, a little bit, My mother had DD last night so im pretty much making the most of it and glued to the sofa just now til she comes back later. Apparently DD has been telling granny she needs to buy baby shampoo for the baby... And has names picked out! Ashleigh and Malcolm.. Not happening but try telling her that! (Shes nearly 4).

14+6

EsmeWeatherwax · 14/08/2011 14:21

babycarmen your DD would love my SIL and BIL, their names are Ashleigh and Malcolm! My DD1's name for the newbie is Isa...Hmm er, no chance!

I have a m/w appointment tomorrow, will be 16 weeks dead on. I keep telling myself that I don't feel pregnant at all, but of course, I'm still retching every morning, and I literally cannot change a stinky nappy without vomiting everywhere. Time for DD2 to master the wonders of the potty methinks! That and the fact I have just eaten a large bowl full of pickled onions, and olives stuffed with anchovies and garlic!Grin

Also starting to look forward to my 20 week scan now, dying to find out what flavour bubs is, not least because we have a ton of girly baby stuff that will either need to go or be sorted for bubs.

m1nn1em0u5e · 15/08/2011 00:23

Hi all, back from a week on the Isle of Mull which was a nice break!....looking forward to another gender scan on Wednesday, I really hope baby co-operates this time!..Feeling movements, which is lovely & reassuring :) Still awaiting quad test results, had the test nearly 2 weeks ago, so im guessing that no news is good news, fingers x.

Innocent, I was petrified when having ds1, its almost the realisation that nothing will be the same again, however this is not a bad thing, but takes some adjustment & thinking about!..Good Luck, you will be just fine.

Hyperemesis seems to be mostly under control with the help of Cyclizine, although I dont have to take them as reguarly at the moment, fingers x trimester 2 will be kind to me!

Hardly bought a thing for this baby yet, really keen to go shopping, but really want to know what colour to buy!..

16 weeks & 5 days!! :) Going so fast now....

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/08/2011 07:50

Well, I had a whole day completely free of nausea or vomiting on Saturday and thought that was me emerging. But no, yesterday was as bad as ever and today is shaping up the same. Sad

EsmeWeatherwax · 15/08/2011 09:20

M1nn1emouse glad you're feeling a bit better! Good the medication is helping. I was never bad enough to have to take it, and I felt like crap, can only imagine how bad hyperemesis is. I always find it really hard to go shopping or even thing about baby stuff when I'm feeling so sick, lol, for both dd's everything was bought at the last minute! Doing well with this one though, have a pram and crib! Like you, just waiting to see what colour the baby is before buying anything else, if it's a girly I won't need anything though!

Wicketkeeper so sorry you're still feeling minging, its kinda worse when you think you've seen the end, only for it to all come flooding back! Sad

Some worry easing here, my 4 week old neice was rushed to hospital last week with pneumonia and whooping cough, was touch and go for a few days, but she seems to be improving now, so fingers crossed she's on the way to recovery. She's so wee, lying in her wee cot in hospital with tubes everywhere...heartbreaking to see her.

CoffeeOne · 15/08/2011 10:23

fingers crossed for your neice Esme

I'm off for my scan this afternoon. I'm absolutely petrified :( Got a rumbly tummy and can't concentrate on work at all. Hoping I'll be in a better mood this evening.

InnocentRedhead · 15/08/2011 12:41

Morning all. I am feeling a lot better than the other day, The Fear has abated for now, hope it won't come back, i can think of a variety of reasons as to why I was like that.

Well in this trimester, hormones have being loopy - and i mean crying one minute then happy the next - more so than the first trimester.

And did anyone else lose weight in the first trimester. Weighed myself this morning as i felt lighter and since my booking appointment I have lost 7lb since start of pregnancy. I wasn't even sick with morning sickness!!! Is this something i should see the midwife about. Got my 16 week appointment in a fortnight so she should pick up on it really.... Feel better for losing the weight though!!

Thing is though, i can't stop cooking, baking, you name it, i'm cooking it, so wheres the bloody weight gone!!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the second trimester.

14ish

Sugarkane · 15/08/2011 13:14

Im so ashamed I made both my DC cry because I cried for ages, when they dropped my dinner on the floor, bloody hormones.

So pleased your feeling better Red but do speak to your midwife when you next see her just so she can keep an eye on you. I was so depressed when I was carrying DD1 but was so scared to tell anyone as I felt they would take her off me when she was born. Totally stupid looking back on it now but we live and learn.

Good luck with the scan coffee remember to drink loads.

Sorry I havent replied to everyone but im just too tired kids still ill and have now passed it on to me.

littlemonkeybix · 15/08/2011 13:38

Oh I am so JEALOUS of you all Smile

I am still waiting for my 1st scan.... can I hold out til Weds pm?! I need to see my pip!! HURRY WEDNESDAY - HURRY

My boss returned from leave today, and found my email requesting Weds pm off... he was made up for us... but keeping it under his hat til Thursday so I can share with our team Grin Currently sat at my desk, hiding my fully open jeans!! I hope there isnt a fire drill!!

Hope all of our mood swings are settling a bit, and people are feeling a little better.

PamBeesly · 15/08/2011 14:14

littlemonkeybix I'm also having my 1st scan on Wed in the pm and its all I can think about. I'm at work too wearing a very fetching elasticated skirt Grin
I've been having awful sickness in the afternoons and evenings right throughour the night (the only time I do not feel sick is the morning) for the past week and I thought the sickness was supposed to abate after 12 weeks....

12+3

littlemonkeybix · 15/08/2011 14:20

Sorry to hear you were/are suffering with sickness Pam.... I was fortunate to only have 1 day of feeling quite queasy. I have suffered from lack of sleep, bad back (sleeping on my side is NOT helping either situation!!) and mega tiredness! I'm also of some foods... Mainly beef.... it's a bit too beefy!!?!

Fortunately, the tiredness seems to have given up a little, no longer fighting the eyelids at 2pm. But the early nights have stuck! I just wish my shoulders weren't so.... WIDE! I have never been able to sleep in any way except on my front.... it is REALLY difficult!

Got myself a long pillow that helped for a bit(two pillows for head and long pillow to hug and between my legs), but now I seem best with just one pillow, and no leg pillow

babycarmen · 15/08/2011 14:50

Ugh this belly is so uncomfortable. Im dreading getting bigger! I walk around like a zombie all day because sleeping is a nightmare, i actually dread going to bed these days!
DD is back to pre-school tomorrow so will have a routine back and being out every day will be a shock to the system, hopefully the excersise will be good for me.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting on their scan :) I need to wait til my 20 week now which isnt til 23rd Sept...longest. wait. ever!! 2 weeks til my next mw appointment. Feels like ages away!

woowa · 15/08/2011 14:57

Pillows - i have a great one from last time, but everytime I go to bed I remember that it is in cupboard in DD's room and she's sleeping so badly at the moment that there's no way i'm goign rummaging in there at 10pm! MUST get it out after nap...

Tall people: my maternatall jeans have just arrived, lovely and long. Bump cover is a bit baggy, but bump is very small at th moment. It's got an elastic to pull in at top of stretrchy bit, but there is excess fabric around the belly, so i'm guessing tight tops might look a bit odd. I say again though, they are LONG!!! yippee!! Do measure your thighs with a tape measure though, i usually am 14 (in LTS, topshop etc) but on their measuremernts i was a 16, so i ordered a 16 and they are perfect (hope they don't give too much). They seem to have an odd returns policy.

Morrissons have got a mini baby event on, with a britax prince car seat for £50 which is much cheaper than anywhere else, in case anyone needs one!

Right, got to book on a speed awareness course. GUTTED that i was driving too fast in a 30, stupid me. Better than getting points though. Thought maybe i should blame being pg and try getting out of it, but that just makes pg women look ridiculous!!

thought i might have felt baby move, but it's hard to tell at this stage!

gonerogue · 15/08/2011 15:05

Pam and monkey good luck for your scans - and Pam I had sickness up until 16 weeks last time around - my friend is a midwife and she swears that 16 weeks is usually the final cut off point for morning sickness, unless youhave HG.

Innocnet glad to hear you are feeling better. I was terrified about my first as well but like a few other posters it was swings and roundabouts, up one minute and down the next. Also, I have lost weight in the first trimerster through nausea. Happened the last time but MW were happy enough with me and I put it all back on again Grin

Love the talk of True Blood - I have to catch up with the third season too though.

I have been mad busy recently we are planning DD1's 1st birthday and have IL's coming from the UK so have to get the garden paved and lawn laid, clean the whole house and generally get ready for an influx of visitors. (No one will be sleeping in my bed though - have you seen that thread in AIBU [shock} )

Sorry for lack of more personals - hope you are all well - the sickness/nausea is abating thank God 2nd trimester rules.

14+3

gonerogue · 15/08/2011 15:10

Woowa bad luck on the speeding - at least you won't get points with the course though. Glad the jeans are good - might have to go and have a look.

I am convinced that I have felt the baby move already - it definitely felt like last time but I thought it was too early. Maybe I just know what it feels like form last time now.

babycarmen if yout hink your next scan is going to be ages away - mine isnt' going to be until the 15th of November. I will be 28 weeks and I'm a bit worried that I won't be having a 20 week scan so am going to ask the GP when I go back for a check up. (I am in Ireland and going public so not much hope for anything) I tihkn we are going to book a private scan before that though.

Gooseysgirl · 15/08/2011 17:11

Apologies to anyone who was delayed on the Central line in east London early this morning... I'm mortified to report it was MY FAULT!!!! I was fine getting on the train but after a few stops began to feel like I was going to throw up (train was bumpy and hot, I was standing and not long after breakfast) and next thing I knew I was in a heap on the floor and someone was asking me if I was ok.... I have never ever fainted in my life before now and it was not an experience I'd care to repeat :-( Anyway I staggered off the train and the staff at Bethnal Green were simply wonderful and looked after me so well, offered to call an ambulance etc but I just needed to sit down for half an hour and then I was fine. In the meantime the manager gave me a few of the 'baby on board' badges and said not to be shy about asking for a seat... I suppose as I felt fine getting on the train and it was busy I didn't think I needed a seat at the time - but I've learned my lesson, no more standing on trains for me for the rest of this pregnancy!!!!

phlossie · 15/08/2011 17:41

Oh Gooseysgirl! Delaying the Central line is quite a claim to fame! I hope you're feeling better. I fainted when 16 weeks pregnant with DS1 on a tour with work of the Thames Barrier - I felt a bit foolish! That's good that you get baby on board badges - what a good idea!

Can't believe some of you are 16 weeks already. That seems very grown up!

We went on a day trip to Weston-Super-Mare today, and I'm exhausted! My DCs are knackered too. But we did have lovely chips on the beach. Yum. There's NO WAY I have lost any weight whatsoever...

14+1

woowa · 15/08/2011 19:35

oh gooseysgirl, that made me smile in spite of the awfulness for you. A bit different for people to have to wait for fainting pregnant women instead of the usual reasons for delays. When I visited london when pg with DD i knew I wouldn't be able to stand up even near the start, and by the time i got onthe trains it was usually so hot on the platform that io'd get on and gasp at the person the nearest special seat, "i'm pg..." and they'd always get right up! Hoping when i go through london next month the thameslink connection will be working and I can avoid the underground because pregnant woman +18 month DD + pushchair + luggage does not = fun on the underground!

I look about 8 months pg today. Feels good!

madeindevon2 · 15/08/2011 20:36

Oh no gooseygirl! I'm a daily London commuter and I know what you mean! I regularly stand up in the morning and often feel lightheaded and nausea. Doesn't help that I don't have time for breakfast before I leave home.... But have yet to actually feint!! I actually feel better standing when I feel like that... But hope I don't keel over?! I don't think I look pregnant yet. And I'm hiding it anyway at work for as long as poss Grin
Off to Geneva tomorrow for dinner with clients. Have to find excuses not to drink and also they have booked a Japanese restaurant Arggghh. Not the best choice. Even if I could have sushi I don't really fancy it right now. Oh well. I will come up with something!

Faint sry... Various spelling mistakes sry!

Crazybit · 15/08/2011 22:23

Goseygirl-How scvary for you! Glad people where nice :)

Phlossie-We went to Weston Suer Mare last weekend, yummy chips :)

Innocent-I'm pregnant with my third and still crapping myself with everything! I wonder if I'm going to love it as much as my other two, whether I and OH can survive a newborn, especially after moving over 200 miles form every single person I know, whether I'll even get through the pg at the moment I'm so blooming tired. Anyway, what I mean to say is, it will all be good, when baby comes you'll be so overcome with emotion...two weeks later you will be struggling to remember a time that your life did not revolve around the tiny being :)

Hi to everyone else, sorry, but eyes drooping. Have scan in morning, taking 11 yo dd with me as she wants to be a mw and is dying to see the scan. She is fully aware that these things don't always go as hoped, but fingers crossed all will be good.

P.s-Does anyone have a rectocele? I have developed one since dd2 and worried about the whole logistics now, am wondering if consultant will want me to have a cs. Ah well, I suppose I'll find out tomorrow. Hope everyone sleeps well :)

melliebobs · 15/08/2011 23:26

red and the others I'll join u with the weight loss. Over half a stone I've lost in 6 weeks. Not through sickness but living odd cereal and mini cheddars and going off chocolate! Lol pitty it's all disappeared off my arse! I look so uneven.

Had an eventful day yday. Went to Cheshire oaks to do some shopping and see family. Was so I'll just before we left (emptied my butty box and the smell made me Blush) one motorway drive later and I was dying. Result? Happy meal at 10:45 in the morning. Nothing happy about that but the fries were uber salty so set me up for the rest of the day!!!! Lol

On the way round i was shopping for an outdoorsy waterproof coat. Found one I liked and was telling dh I don't know if there's much room in it for potential bump. Cue lots of funny looks from other shoppers/shop assistant as DH gives me his balled up goodie and tells me to stuff it up there!!!!!!

When I went to see my aunty (she's in her 80s) she 'read my palm' apparently according to this and also when she consulted with her crystal ball before we came round this baby is one of 4 and she doesn't see any girls. I want to know her success rate! DH was a little freaked out and wanted to know if she actually has a crystal ball. But it made me giggle. 4 kids would be nice but I'd like her to ask her crystal ball who the chuff would be financing such a family!

RoganJosh · 16/08/2011 06:59

Morning everyone! I'm still knackered but that lasted till 17 weeks last time. Scan last week was good, low as possible risk for down's. Yey.

I thought eggs are ok these days if lion stamped?

RoganJosh · 16/08/2011 07:02

Oops, didn't see the other 7 pages on my phone, eggs were mentioned on page 1! Duh.
