Well, are we?

Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Innocent delighted about your hours being rectified, they should never have been changed in the first place and you shouldn't have had to stress.

Congrats on the wedding, how exciting!!!

littlemonkeybix · 15/09/2011 14:36

Excellent news innocent

So glad they sorted your hours out.... and I'll keep you posted as to whether I need your alibi Wink

CoffeeOne · 15/09/2011 15:06

Bill - 4 - I have only gained 2lbs, although I'm actively trying to eat sensibly as I started this pregnancy overweight.

Monkey - Oh poor you, what a cheeky devil! Do some deep breaths and explain to him calmly tonight that he IS coming with you as it is his child too and he needs to understand how to best support you during the birth. Also point out that other partners will be there and it will make him look bad! Mine would hate that Grin

Mellie - I went to the Manchester xmas markets last year and got squished it was so busy! I'm not so sure doing it at 30+ weeks pregnant is going to be much fun! I do love them though.

Innocent - excellent news about work!

I feel like I have a permanent stitch, anyone else? Not too painful just stretchy but it's making me feel VERY pregnant.

melliebobs · 15/09/2011 15:14

Hey coffee me and dh have been a few times, but This year though we are going to a gig on a tuesday evening at the Apollo (tix bought before pip) and we managed to get a hotel for £19! So thought we'd do the Market the next day as well. So were thinking with a decent night sleep, no travel there and it being a Wednesday and before the schools finishing etc etc it shouldn't be too bad! We went on a friday not last yr but yr before and it wasnt that bad but The first time we went was a Saturday and it was bloomin mental!!!!! And if worse comes to the worst I have a 6ft2 husband to fend people away from me and my bump! Lol I can't wait now Grin

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/09/2011 15:15

Bill, Fybogel is available over the counter and perfectly safe in pregnancy. I find it really helpful.

No vomiting today but nausea + Sad. Have started taking the maximum dose of Buccastem, which seems to be helping and I can add the cyclizine in if needed. So glad I'm off sick today.

Great news, BTW, Innocent!

CoffeeOne · 15/09/2011 15:26

Mellie yeah we went on a Saturday hence the squish! I'm tempted to go, I love Christmas and shopping and Christmas shopping!

littlemonkeybix · 15/09/2011 16:08

wowee... I have eaten a LOT of chocolate today Blush

Good job I am going to my class tonight...

Kayano · 15/09/2011 16:26

Does bowling count as heavy lifting? Grin
I has date night tonight

louby86 · 15/09/2011 16:27

Great news about your hours innocent

Oh monkey what a cheeky DH you have! I'm sure he doesn't really mean to wind you up!

All this talk of Christmas markets is exciting! Hopefully I'll be going to the Birmingham one this year, depending on when I decide to finish work. Doing some online Christmas shopping tonight when DH gets home! He works in construction so will be getting a week or 2 off around Christmas and we don't want to be rushing around, want to make the most of the time we've got before the little one comes Smile

pinkhollie · 15/09/2011 18:35

I am livid too but for once not with my DH. Wink

As I went for one of my regular wee's at work today I lookouts down to find that my Isabella Oliver maternity trousers have completely split along the crotch seam I have had them 2 weeks! And they were bloody expensive I can not wait to write my snotty letter complaining about them. What is even more annoying is that they are so comfy and perfect for work apart from the obviously shoddy quality. Sad

ZhenXiang · 15/09/2011 18:57

Great news about your hours Innocent :)

Bill during my last pregnancy I ate lots of salads with raw spinach, have eaten it again this time round and boy that stuff really keeps you regular!

Monkey - that was cheeky of DP, now that the chocolate has calmed you down or possibly made you feel sick have a chat with him about how important it is to you that he is there.

Have to say though I only went to one ante-natal class myself and just followed the breathing I learnt online and from my tai chi. DH had been at several births before though (his son and several of his nieces births) and knew what he was doing to remind me when I forgot and also stick up for my wishes re: my birth plan.

Kayano enjoy your night, I am still lifting DD (2.4) who is I am sure heavier than a bowling ball so should be fine, just beware of twinges and funny positions when picking up the ball it is easier to pull muscles when pregnant. I pulled a muscle in my back lifting DD up out of her bed the other day.

PinkHollie that is annoying, if you have a receipt for the trousers still take them back and demand a refund (although they can offer a replacement).

I am still sleeping partly on my back still, but mostly on my side and switching between left and right. I think they advise the left side because it will increase the amount of blood and nutrients that reach the placenta and your baby. Later in pregnancy as it helps the baby's head and spine be in the optimum position for entering the birth canal, but until they get more fixed in position it shouldn't matter.

Sleeping on your back as the baby gets bigger can reduce blood supply to your heart and your baby as a result of your uterus resting on your intestines and major blood vessels (the aorta and vena cava).

If you sleep on a soft mattress this will be reduced and you would notice dizziness, light-headness or nausea if lying down whilst awake, if asleep you would likely change positions automatically into one that is better for you and baby. You can sleep on your back if well propped up on pillows once you are bigger if hips really uncomfortable.

Kayano · 15/09/2011 19:18

Thanks Zhen. I wasn't really worried about bowling, just pleased to be going somewhere that is not the office, bed or the doctor! Lol

Grin
BillComptonstrousers · 15/09/2011 19:19

Well, after moaning this afternoon about how much bloody fruit I'm eating and how much water I'm drinking and still not pooing I've eaten a load of rubbish today which has consisted of-

Bowl of fruit and fibre

Half a tub of houmous, but nothing to dip in it, so just scooped it out with my finger

Fish and chip butty and a can of fizzy pop

Galaxy cookie crumble

Kids left over homemade fish and chips squashed into crap white bread with mayo and one side and tomato sauce on the other.

I have just eaten a punnet of raspberries to try and make up for this carb disaster.

All I want now is a cup of tea and some chocolate hobnobs, of which I have none, so will have to send DD to shop to get some.

And I've just realised it's only thursday, so should not be having fish and chips till tomorrow!

woowa · 15/09/2011 19:56

monkey, I had chocolate for lunch. It is made out of cocoa BEANS (vegetable), sugar cane (vegetable), vegtable oil (vegetable) and milk (healthy bones for baby). Nothing wrong with that.

Going to put a hard hat on for this next comment though:

On my NCT classes, one mum came without her DH, she said "it's not really his thing." And i do understand where men are coming from a bit, because what is the popular conceptionof AN classes? Making a prat of yourself, being all emotional in front of other men (and this popular conception is, in fact, true, even ifelt like a right wally doing the birthing positions!). So although I do think DHs and DPs should be there to support their ladies, he's not the only one to feel the way he does (in fact, at the NHS classes there were barely any men, mostly mums and their mums!), because i think they find it really hard to be emotional in front of other men, especially ones they don't know.

However, telling you in a text at work is REALLY bad!

Hat off, sorry to bedifferent!!

Right, DHs day off so we're full of curry and going to watch a movie. With DD screaming upstairs and DC2 wrigglingon the bladder, think it's going to require a few breaks!

woowa · 15/09/2011 19:58

oh, and i read on babycentre today that it's about 19 weeks when everything starts to get really strethced and painful. This was a relief to be normal as i've been in so much pain arouind the bump today - not cramps, andbaby is wriggling, but body just falling apart.

louby86 · 15/09/2011 20:53

Oh PinkHollie that's a bit rubbish! I thought they were supposed to be really good quality, especially as all the beautiful famous people wear them! I really want their belted wrap jacket for Christmas!

ReadRideABikeSwim · 15/09/2011 21:13

monkey - I think your dp should go with you PURELY because you want him to...I have never done those classes and have previously poured scorn on them - which is probably not good as because i had never been i didn't actually know about them IYSWIM Confused

In my first labour the midwife said to me 'have you been to classes?' I said 'no' and she said 'breathe like this' and i did.... HOWEVER i am rubbish at birth so not one to talk

My DP would also do those annoying 'funny' texts when it's not appropriate and i would end up wanging the phone across a room!!!

Re the NON weight gain Envy
I started out 9 stone 5 ( am 5 foot 8 so was thin ish) and despite being a month behind a lot of you and having felt pretty rotten for weeks am gaining weight horrifically. In the last 14 days I have gained 5 or 6 lbs....ughhhhhhhh!

No bump AT ALL either. Just flab

littlemonkeybix · 15/09/2011 22:25

Thanks folks. There's more now!!

Been to my class and feel marevllously relaxed (body balance, not antenatal) got home, and mentioned, calmly, the he really upset me today... Lead balloon time!! He said nothing!!

So I said , so no discussion, you just tell me over text that you're not coming?!

(Best bit) I never said I'm not coming, I actually said its 6 hours I'll never get back. I don't want to go, but I'll go.

Well thanks... I feel so supported Hmm

So as it turns out, I'm a totally unreasonable bitch, and should be grateful or something. I told him as much too... He's just told me he's sleeping on the couch tonight!!!

Oh well, at least I'll get a whole bed to myself... And a lie in (day off yaaaay)

He really doesn't get it... And I know there'll be people out there to say I'm being unreasonable for something, but there was no need for him to play this game today.

Right... Rant over now... Sorry for bending so many ears today. Bloody hormones... Bloody MEN!!

Wow so much chatting! Can't remember who said what of everything so will just try and remember main things.

Innocent-I worked at McDs when pregnant with my first...12 years ago (OMGBlush) and they where crap then, had a right cow for a manager who had me climbing ladders and loads of stuff she wouldn't get away with now. Did get away with piching the apples pies that where meant to go in the bin after the time slot allocated to them though (30 mins, yeah right!)

Re Pillows. There are widgey pillows at Tesco atm, for £7 usuall around £25.

Re Sleeping on backs. I keep waking up on my back or stomach. I try not to worry about it, if it was uncomfortable, I figure I wouldn't do it. Often when I'm on my back by stomach goes hard and rugby ball shaped too, weird.

Re Antenatal classes, sorry your DH was mean Monkey, think Potols idea is fab, and may try it on OH if we go and he has the same type of reaction...although to be fair, I haven't seen or spoke to OH for such a long time that I could easily mistake any bloke for being the sperm donor...wonder if that fitty in Aldi today is free..... Wink Still over 2 weeks till OH get's back and he is on an Inca trail atm so no contact at all. I saw him more when we didn't live together than I have the past few months of living together :(

Re: Reusable nappies-I had a go when dd was little but she poo'd like every 30 minutes so I soon gave up! May give it a go again this time as my friend has offered me some, will be using disps when out of the house though as I am so lazy.

My bump is huuuuge, I look about 8 months pregnant, mainly flab though. No idea how much weight I have put on.

Oooh had some baby bargains lately, got a baby monitor reduced in Tesco, a Chicco baby carrier for £6 that I wil probably never- use-- and some people reported on MSE at getting baby bouncers for £10, reduced from £45 but I didn't see any. There was also an Obaby Travel System down to around £30 ish with a car seat but I wasn't too keen, would be perfect for those with a really tight budget though :)

Right off to bed, hope everyones sickiness and generall shitiness goes overnight :)

Crazybit · 15/09/2011 22:59

Aw cross posted Monkey, what a dick. Sorry :( He's done this before then and knows exactly what you'll need through delivery etc?? No, thought not Angry

Tell him you'll ask someone else but it will be them that will be at the birth, not him.

PS Ladies, remember to do them pelvic floor exercise. Sneezing is not my friend. Blush

ZhenXiang · 15/09/2011 23:23

Aw crazybit I am with you on the sneezing thing although I have found if you draw up your bits before you sneeze like when you do a pelvic floor exercise it is not so bad.

Not so easy when you are being sick, this morning was sick so violently I weed myself quite a bit and had to change my knickers and trousers Blush

phlossie · 16/09/2011 06:48

I'm always glad not to be the only leaky one!

I'm up hideously early this morning. Woke up to pee just before 6am and then couldn't fall asleep partly because I was hungry (bowl of cereal) and partly because I'm an anxiety-ridden maniac (bump too small? baby not moving?). Also I'm very achey across the bump at the moment, which I didn't expect with a third pregnancy because I thought I was already pretty baggy! Maybe the 2 1/2 years of pilates has actually tightened me up!

Silly men, monkey and crazy!

So glad you've got your hours sorted out, innocent.

I'm having work problems now - I have to do a course to update my lifesaving qualification which I need to teach swimming (I'm the life guard as well as teacher). My current qualification runs out on Nov 12th, so I've been trying to book myself onto a course before then. BUT the people who run the course need me to get my midwife's approval because it's quite a physical course - I need to do resuss, towing someone who's pretending they've drowned, and rolling someone who's pretending they have a spinal injury. Plus I have to retrieve a 70kg dummy from the bottom of the pool. It's all supported in water and should be fine, but my midwife thinks not. Problem is, if my midwife advises against it, the course leader won't let me do it, and if I can't do it then I can't work! So I might have to stop working in November. It's not the end of the world financially - we've just inherited some money, and I'm a freelance writer so I could pick up more writing work, but I love my job and I'd be gutted to have to stop early.

Pregnancy, eh?!

melliebobs · 16/09/2011 08:53

phlossie thats rubbish. If ur midwife says no see if u can see a second one or see ur GP. I went on a chair based exercise course when I was 8 weeks. And I needed a GP approval letter. I mean for god sake it was chair exercise for frail and old adults. Idve coped!

I'm shattered. Had proper drama in the melliebobs household last night. MIL rung at 10pm asking where the police station was. Turned out when she walked her dog last night 2 pitbull type dogs attacked her dog that was minding it's own business and the chavs that owned it couldn't have cared less. She was on her own and having to kick the pitbulls to get off her dog. So emergency vets, patching the poor dog up whos all doped up on pain killers and staying with it through the night to make sure it doesn't go into shock. She sounds a right mess Apparantly. The dog looks like it's been hacked at with a meat cleaver Angry poor thing. It's got to go to the vets today and have all it's wounds reopened to have them cleaned Sad even though MILs dog wasn't my dog is NEVER walking off his lead again
