Well, are we?

Has the sickness abated?
Are our locks shiny and luscious?
Are our nails long and strong?
Are we back on form in the 'ahem' bedroom?

No? Well we soon will be ladies it's The second Trimester*

Hi Queen hope you don't mind I'm going to hop on to that page too, I don't live in the UK but I really want a sling and haven't the first clue....I also haven't a clue about any other aspect of having a baby and think I might break it :(

Kayano your boss is a dick. Maybe you can get a tune to go along with that phrase so every time you see him and want to stick a biro in his eye you can revert to the song instead :) Pregnancy rage, moi? Grin

Kayano · 12/09/2011 20:41

Thanks, it just annoyed me so much. I felt he implied I had gone on sick because I was pregnant and could get away with it.

It was 5 days due to preg related tension headaches, stress, being on a computer all day.

Angry Im sure I enjoyed being in pain for nearly a full week and breaking down at the doctors.

Also found out when I was off I didn't get the Xmas hols off I wanted despite working all last Christmas, while my friend who had it off last year got it off! I was hoping for Xmas eve to be
My last day but I can't now Sad

PDog · 12/09/2011 20:58

Thanks for the reassurance crazybit and phlossie. I didn't realise braxton hicks started this early - never had them in my last pg.

Totally agree kayano; your boss is a knob. Any pregnancy related absence should be disregarded from absence procedures.

Congrats on the girl bill. My dbro has 3 girls, bit of a handful at times but loves it.

Slings, I'm no expert but I do have a few. I bought a baba sling while I was pg but never really got on with it - DD always looked squahed and it never felt comfy. I then got a cheap stretchy wrap sling, sabe I think it is called, which was great but quite thick. For summer I got a connecta solar weave. If DD is tired I will sometimes put her in a back carry while I cook tea. She is 21mo so good value for money.

Also used them around the house A LOT as DD would only sleep on me in the early months and it meant I could get on with things.

Still going for a tandem pram as DD is not a great walker and I am not fit enough to carry one in a sling everywhere Blush.

Sugarkane · 12/09/2011 21:33

Just had a look at the Moby and im very impressed its just what Id been thinking about thank you so much. Will need to get an extra large coat to tuck baby in nice and snug.

Crazybit · 12/09/2011 21:47

PamB-Have you had a look on MN Local, there may be some near you :)
Was nice to meet up, they where lovely and time flew by :) Flossie/Fundus-would you be interested in a meet up at all? We met at Cribbs today.

BillC-Woo, a girl, awww. Congrats :)

Kayono-Definately a DICK! He'd better not give you any more crap or you'll be able to say...this is the second/third instance that you've been a Dick, i will not take further action THIS time but if you carry on being a Dick, I may wear your balls for earing for being a sexist pigDick.

I'm not a massive fan of slings but thats because i like to have a pram for shopping etc. I may try giving a library a go though, should never say never.

Hormones are rife atm, shouted at DD1 earlier and spent an hour in tears, pulled myself to gether for the meet up, then came home and cried again after DD2 played up as she wanted a balloon and I had to drag her through Boots screaming, and then she tried to bite me(!) Felt like a big rubbish failure with my kids today. Wish the hormones would give me nice feelings. Hmm

QueenFee · 12/09/2011 22:00

Oh crazy we all have days like that!

I use a combination of prams slings etc. I see it as another tool in my parenting box. I quite like a sling for making tea whilst breastfeeding. Also when i'm popping to just one or 2 shops from the car. I use a pram for the school run though as it's a nearly 3 mile round trip - i'm not that strong either Blush I can wear my 2 yr old for about 2/3 hours on my back before I get tired now though.

If anyone was thinking about the caboo/close TK maxx had some in the other day half price because it was the old name I assume.

There isn't a sling meet in Falkirk at the moment although they did meet there last week so there may be one starting... Otherwise it's Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Sorry for those of you suffering with naff bosses. My bosses are naff too they won't let me lie in, have a day off sick or leave me in peace to puke my guts up. I will forgive them however as they are only little Grin seriously though I don't miss office politics. I stopped work at 28 weeks with dc1 and gave up doing anything. This is my 1st winter baby and it will be nice not being heavily pregnant in the heat.

Feeling much better myself, I seem to have turned that corner and I am in a nice bit where I can forget i'm even pregnant :)

Sorry I am on the computer for a change so can chat lots instead of my usual short badly spelt posts on my phone.

Xavielli · 12/09/2011 22:41

Bill Congrats on the girly!! So many beautiful winter clothes at the moment.

kayano Your boss is a dick.

Looks like we might need to think about a new thread, took ages to load on my iPhone!

InnocentRedhead · 13/09/2011 09:35

I just feel like my posts are all me, me, me on here, but i had to come and unload. I have being posting about how I can't relax, and worrying about the tiniest little things. I have booked a midwife appointment as I can't relax, stop panicking and I am always down and the first one they had was the 22nd!!!! How the hell can she see the urgent cases is beyond me :(

The cramping just won't stop and I am really getting worried, I think movement has stopped, my bump has gone soft... It's really getting to me. Probably over worrying but I just can't shake the bad feeling. What can I do? Like i said, I have the first appt. with my midwife so who can I speak to - I am at my wits end. My DP is being supportive just not knowing what to say though :( Any advice would be appreciated

18weeks today

melliebobs · 13/09/2011 09:40

hi Innocent. I know you said it's your first appointment with your midwife, but did you have a booking appointment where they gave you emergency and non emergency phone numbers?! You could ring your maternity unit say you just need to speak to someone but it's not an emergency. If you leave your details someone should at least ring you back later that day?

InnocentRedhead · 13/09/2011 10:28

I had my booking appointment early on and my 16 week (by first appt. i meant the first available appointment) Think I might have to do that, well I will do that. Probably just overthinking, but better to be safe than sorry eh? I am at work now, worst place for me, but I will check my notes when I get home for the numbers, thanks.

Not helped by the lack of sleep I had too, awake most of last night :(

Crazybit · 13/09/2011 10:46

Innocent-I often feel like this, cramps and worrying, plus bump dissapearing, it is probably that the baby has moved to near your back so is hiding, and anxiety is probably making you feeling crampy. However, midwives are also meant to help reassure you so please do ring up and ask for a sooner appointment or wait till you get home and ring the numbers that nellie mentions.

Also, don't worry about feeling like you can't come on here, we are all here to support each other :)

bezzyk · 13/09/2011 10:52

I don't really post on here much, but wanted to suggest to Innocent that she get a doppler? I bought one on ebay for less than £15 and it arrived 2 days later, it really does put my mind at ease. Always swore I wouldn't have one, but now I swear by it.

EsmeWeatherwax · 13/09/2011 11:08

innocent could you see a gp quicker than your midwife? May be worth it if you are getting so stressed its affecting your life and general happiness. Fwiw, I have been down this road twice before, and I know that you can't always feel movement this early, and that everything is probably ok, but I am still incredibly nervous and worried that something will be wrong with the scan today, or will go wrong further down the line. Remember your hormones are going crazy, rational thought goes out the window a bit, especially when its your first! Very unmumsnet hugs to you, am sure you and bubs will be just fine! xx

CoffeeOne · 13/09/2011 11:24

Innocent - second what the others have said, hope things get better for you soon.

Well I had a couple of days feeling super and now I have a new exciting symptom, back ache! Anyone else got this? Allll day whilst I'm sat at my desk and it's making sleep uncomfortable. All suggestions welcome.

My DP has gone away with work for a week so feeling sorry for myself. Happier news though my mum is back to be helpful, I think she realised she was a bit out of line with the christening thing. So that's good, I just think she's having trouble letting go of her youngest TBH!

17+3

phlossie · 13/09/2011 12:30

innocent - I feel the same as you - worry about my bump size, especially when I get comments like 'oooh, it's very small and neat for nearly 5 months'. I worry about movements because they're not very regular and definite. I was going to make the same suggestion as bezzyk - buy a doppler on ebay, then you can check the baby when you get worried. I'm thinking about it too.

QueenFee · 13/09/2011 12:44

don't get the summer heart to heart one its naff :( gutted I would be really p'd if i'd bought it full price

Sugar80 · 13/09/2011 13:12

Innocent, book yourself a GP appointment and get them to listen to the heartbeat so you can reassure yourself that all is okay. Also tell them how you're feeling. I'm pretty sure it's all normal. I felt much the same as you last week - after my bump suddenly popped out at week 14 it hasn't got any bigger and seems to have got flabbier!! Had my 16wk midwife appointment yesterday and she assured me that he/she was growing well, and heard the heartbeat which was fab!

16+2

Sugar80 · 13/09/2011 13:16

Oh, and I've just had to google Dopplers as I had no idea what you were all on about. Seriously, I know nothing about this pregnancy lark!!

On that subject... does anyone else have no idea how to change a nappy? Someone was shocked on the weekend when I said I didn't have a clue! You Tube is going to be my friend...

littlemonkeybix · 13/09/2011 13:50

hahaha - I have NO idea how I am going to cope with nappies!! I've never attempted to change one, wouldn't know where to start at all! I am a total naive mess when it comes to babies... but people always look at me like I've said I'm going to eat my baby when I say how little I know. They seriously don't believe me!

QueenFee · 13/09/2011 13:53

Sugar, it soon becomes 2nd nature. My mother in law still manages to put them on back to front however?? The funniest thing for me was my 2nd dc was a boy after having dd 1st they leave you to it with your second. I didn't have a clue how to change a boys nappy I was saying to dh will this hurt him? Can I do this? !

PamBeesly · 13/09/2011 15:26

Sugar I have no idea how to change a nappy neither does my husband. Its my big worry, I know nothing about newborns and babies, my mother is moving in for a fortnight after the birth so I'm hoping she'll be our saviour Grin

Xavielli · 13/09/2011 15:53

Thankfully there isn't really a wrong way to change a nappy as long as you get the nappy the right way round and always wipe from front to back!

EsmeWeatherwax · 13/09/2011 16:01

Just been for my 20 week scan, all fine except they couldn't see the face or heart properly because of the way bubs was lying, so I have to go back next week to finish off. I got the cutest scan pic of its feet! Or should I say his feet, lol, its a boy! Will be a bit of a change from two girls I would imagine!

littlemonkeybix · 13/09/2011 16:08

Aww congratulations Esme ... and another scan booked for the face, lucky you!! Did you coach him to turn away so you could get a bonus go??!! Grin

louby86 · 13/09/2011 16:19

Congratulations Esme and exciting that you get to see him again!

My SIL had a baby in February so she has been teaching me and DH as we are both clueless! Although since then I think we've only changed 2 nappies between us. I think I'm going to have to have a ban on visitors until I've got to grips with what I'm doing, don't want them thinking I'm incompetent Grin
