PiggyMad · 05/08/2011 08:32

Hi carlita, I'm tentatively sneaking in... AF due today/tomorrow so hoping she stays away and I've got a sticky one!! I'll be 4 weeks tomo - how far along are you? Not had any symptoms at all apart from the heartburn from hell all last night. Could just be coincidental though.

Carlitawantsababy · 05/08/2011 11:08

Grin Hi piggy! I'm 7 weeks today! I'm pretty symptom less apart from sore boobs at night and tiredness from 8pm! Grin very lucky indeed! Mainly just very excited! Have you bought/borrowed any pregnancy books yet or anything? Smile

OP posts:
PiggyMad · 05/08/2011 12:04

Defo lucky with the lack of nasty symptoms Grin - does it feel real yet? What's your due date? You'll have to fill me in on the booking in appt etc with the midwife.
No books or anything yet, will get on amazon next week - can you recommend any?
I did A Very Silly Thing though yesterday and ordered a maternity denim skirt!!! Blush I'm crackers already!!

Carlitawantsababy · 05/08/2011 17:09

Yeah, it is beginning to feel real! Haven't had my booking in appointment or anything yet, 18th aug for that then scan at 11 weeks on 2nd sept!
Re books, my favourite so far has been the mumsnet guide, it's very funny, I've bought about 5 different ones so far, I'm also really enjoying Ina May's guide to breastfeeding. I have bought quite a few maternity clothes so don't worry about it! I'm already wearing a few of the tops as they're the only things I don't look fat in! Don't think it'll be that long till I'm in the jeans! Nothing wrong with being organised! I also have quite a lot of baby things already! Grin so exciting isn't it? I have to keep pinching myself, I feel so lucky! Have you told anyone yet? Grin
My due date is 23rd March, how about you?

BunMyOven · 05/08/2011 20:47

Hi!! Was just catching up on the TTC thread and thought this is a great idea and had to join in!

I'm 15weeks today - due 27th January. I've had my first scan which was amazing and my booking in appoinment with the MW, got my 16week check a week Tuesday.

I'm coming out the other end of the sickness (still suffering though) and exhaustion - fingers crossed you both continue to escape it, I had none of it with DS so it is possible! Smile
Just had my first maternity clothes delivered today so I'm finally comfortable again, elasticated waist bands rock! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 06/08/2011 08:03

Hi Bun! Great to have you here! Grin 15 weeks! How exciting! Can't wait for my scan, DH I being absolutely wonderful but I know he won't be able to relax until he has seen that everything is (FX) okay with the baby! I didn't even know there was a 16 week check, so that's what they do between 12 and 20 weeks? Do you get to hear the heartbeat with a Doppler then? Have you made a decision about whether to try to find out if it's a boy or a girl yet? That's bad luck that you're still feeling queasy and tired, hope it's over soon! My mum went through both pregnancies without any sickness and my sister is doing pretty well on that front and is expecting twins so FX! Grin
You have been so restrained to only buy maternity clothes now! Did you not suffer too much in the bloating department? Do you have a bump yet? Grin

I am here!!

thanks carlita! Grin

hello again bun & piggy!

FF says my due date (based upon my ovulation date apparently) is April 13th! Amusingly enough FF changed my OV date when I entered the positive pregnancy test!! Sometime early April is accurate enough for me for now though!

I got the "What to expect when you're expecting" book recently (I so jumped the gun there, but all turned out OK!) and it's quite good, if a little repetitive. My sister leant me The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth which was quite good too. Might check out the mumsnet one in waterstones later too! You can never be too prepared, right? Wink I haven't got any breastfeeding books or anything else yet - going to wait and see what happens with my medication/whether i'm likely to be allowed to breast feed or not first.

Symptom wise I am already suffering nausea (mainly in the morning, but also when I get hungry, or overfull) dizzyness hand in hand with the nausea, and as mentioned on the other thread, my breasts are sore and bigger already! I had only just bought a stack of new bras and not one of them is a comfortable fit anymore (I was pretty petite - an A cup, so not much space to grow before the bras got very tight) so am definitely going to have to go out and buy some new bras at the very least!

I am Blush to admit that I already have a few babygrows etc that I've bought over the last 6 odd years of trying to get well enough to sprog! No maternity clothes yet though, (though I have bookmarked a few sites...) am going to wait and see how fast I get big; my sister didn't get big particularly fast with her daughter, however my mum was in dungarees within weeks of getting pregnant every time (I'm the eldest and remember guessing when mum was pregnant each time based on her clothes - I have 3 younger sisters and my mum had a lot of miscarriages between her 3rd and 4th kids, so there were a lot of dungarees years)... i'm shaped a bit more like my mum than my sister, but i've got bigger shoulders/hips than my mum, so might carry differently.. (You couldn't tell she was pregnant from behind - it was all out front in this huge big bump!!)

Is so exciting to be here on the graduates thread! Thanks for setting it up carlita - am looking forward to us all sharing the coming months!! Grin

BunMyOven · 06/08/2011 10:15

Yey welcome trope! Grin

Carlita yes the 16week check is between the scans where they go over your blood results, first scan, they should advise you on ante-natal classes and get you booked onto one if you want too. I think most midwives check the heartbeat these days but some don't like to so early because it can be hard to pick up on the Doppler and worry the parents unnecessarily Smile I'll be asking for it though!
The scan was amazing and such a relief - I was stupidly nervous waiting to have it. I didn't do all this when I was pregnant with DS because I didn't find out I was pregnant until really late. So I found out I was pregnant, went for a scan which told me I was having a boy in a few months time! very surreal! This little one is definately making themselves known though. Grin
Will definitely find out the sex, dying to know already! Not sure if we're going to tell other people or not though, would be nice for DP and I to have our little secret Smile

Not really noticed any bloating, I've got a sizeable tum anyway so had a lot of room! Haha! Only just starting to look pregnant rather than just fatter which was really depressing. Especially as I've lost weight since being pregnant (not intentionally, through sickness!) didn't show at all with DS until about 6-7 months!

What a bummer that your feeling sick already trope! Hopefully it will go as quick as it came Smile
My boobs are getting bigger too, really don't want them to, I'm a G cup before pregnancy! Sad

Sorry if this is really rambley, I'm on the phone because our Internet is playing up and hate it!

Carlitawantsababy · 06/08/2011 23:07

bun, I feel your pain, I was an H cup and am a HH already Sad! Thanks for the info re the appointment! Must be nice to be looking pregnant! I look fat so far (obviously, my baby is the size of a baked bean! Grin)
trope Grin it's very good to be prepared! I already has 2 books whilst on the TTC thread! Still haven't bought and baby clothes but am off to a boot fair in the morning and plan to but lots there! I've made a couple of things, I like sewing.
Bummer you're feeling sick already! I think this one Envy looks sick!

PiggyMad · 07/08/2011 07:10

Morning ladies!
Congratulations trope!!! Your due date is the day before mine Grin

I'm 4+1 today - so 'officially' preggers Grin
I wondered if we should start a list of everyone's due dates?

Piggymad (25) DC#1 DD: 14 April

I haven't had any symptoms yet so am enjoying the early symptom-free time!
Will have a look at all of your book suggestions carlita and trope.
bun and carlita am very jealous of your ample bosoms!! Hoping that my 32b boobs will expand over the coming months!

BunMyOven · 07/08/2011 10:26

Considering I have a 2yo DS I'm very unprepared when it comes to baby things. Will be using the same pram and getting a buggy board for ds if he needs it - he'll be almost 3 by the time DC2 arrives and I'll be using a sling for a while anyway (love them!) so should be OK with not having to get a double pram (hate them!) Smile other than that we've got nothing!! Have moved 4 times since having DS so gave everything away. I'm quite glad though, it's so much fun buying all the lovely baby things isn't it Grin

Carlita we met up through the TTC thread, discovered we lived in the same area!

Hi Piggy! Congratulations!! I'm jealous of your practical bosom!! Grin Sooo bloody awkward finding tops and dresses that fit properly!

WRT books, can definately recommend Ina May Gaskin, I have her Guide To Breastfeeding and the Guide to Childbirth (which has some pretty graphic photos and is really quite hippyish but has a lot of sceince and common sense to back it up). I didn't do any research into childbirth with DS and was completely unprepared and it left me dreading doing it again! But after reading that book, I feel so much more confident and relaxed about it all. Going to read it a few times throughout the pregnancy.
Ina May has also done 'Spiritual Midwifery' which is apparently brilliant, I've not read it yet though. I promise I'm not Ina May, just think she's ace! Grin

A list is a great idea, I love stats!

bun so you both live near Brighton I gather? I'm moving to Hastings in the new year so will be down that way too.

Yes Brighton, well, Hove actually Grin That's great, definately a small world!
We've not long moved (again!) from a furnished property to an unfurnished so have got a few more bits of furniture to get and then it's all about baby things! Can't wait Smile

DP's just popped out to get us fish and chips for tea, yum! He took DS swimming this afternoon so I spent the entire time in bed, out like a light.
Note to self: must walk lots and eat salad tomorrow to make up for day of lazy greediness! (not going to happen)

trope · 08/08/2011 10:04

Morning all!

I simply cannot imagine having G or H cup breasts! I was a 34b from mid teens till a month or two ago - loads of exercise since getting my arthritis under control had changed my shape a lot, so I remeasured and am now a 36a.. or rather, was a 36a - am borderline a 36b already! I am slightly afraid of just how big I'm going to end up!!

How exciting that you're moving to Hastings Carlita It's only an hour or so on the train from Brighton so we should all meet up sometime!! Where are you at the moment? What's bringing you to Hastings?

Bun I'm thinking of hitting the NCT sales to see what I can pick up second hand - we're probably going to get the buggy/travel system new (have researched this lots as my arthritis means I have quite specific needs) but aside from that I'm really keen on getting as much second hand stuff as I can! Do you fancy going along to one together sometime? I'm not sure if i'm going to buy much before 12 weeks, but I definitely want to be well prepared as my sister had her daughter at 30weeks and there's a significant chance I could get pre-eclampsia too and deliver early!!

I'm trying not to think too much about how much needs doing pre-baby - ideally we need to buy a new house Confused but i'm not sure that's going to happen! DP should hear this month if his employers are going to give him a permanent contract instead of the arms length contracting he's currently doing (it's looking likely though) - if they do we can port our mortgage (or get a new one) and move to a bigger house in a nicer area (a bit further out from the sea though.. :( ) Assuming our house isn't worth peanuts that is (we bought in June 2007, so right at the peak of the boom...) If we have to stay here it's going to be... interesting as we have no space for a buggy, no toilet upstairs (I'm already bored of going downstairs to the loo at night!) and all 3 (small) bedrooms rammed to the gills with stuff! (The back 2 bedrooms are actually one room, there's an open archway between them... so that'll need sorting too). Big clear out coming up methinks!!

I managed to play squash yesterday, was very nauseous and had to take lots of breaks and I felt really tired afterwards, but am glad I managed it - really want to try and stay fit / keep exercising for as long as possible! The fitter I stay, the more likely I am to have a good pregnancy! Was very strange throwing myself around a squash court - I know logically I can't "dislodge" the baby, but I couldn't help imagining it rattling around in there!!! Silly really, as it's the size of a poppy seed and well lodged into the uterine wall right now, but there you go!!

As of this week I'm determined to start eating better again - DP and I have been really slack recently as he's been working late lots and we've been too tired to cook properly! Had take out (curry) Friday night, take out (Sri Lankan) Saturday night and proper food Sunday - Roast Beef dinner cooked by my dad! Need to cut out all the greasy, salty take out me thinks!! (I can still have homecooked curry though, right? Wink )

Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday Bun - now don't forget your salad and exercise today!!! Wink

OK - stats! (Oh god, I'm the oldest here!!)

Trope I was just thinking last night that I should see about looking at an NCT sale at some point, baby stuff can be so overpriced when you concider how long you actually use it for. Would be great to join you! Smile

You're reminding me of when we found out I was pregnant with DS, had to move from the flat share we were in and DP had just been made redundant! Very stressfull time. It'll all come together in the end though. We ended up in a place we didn't really like for the first year of ds's life but it was ok, it was all such a blur I don't remember much of that place - defensive mechanism maybe? Wink Fingers crossed for your DP and the contract.

I know what you mean about eating better too. Making/preparing food seemed to make me sick as much as actually eating it so there have been a few take aways more than I'd like lately. They're great to a certain point but then I just end up feeling really sluggish. Feeling it today after last night's fish and chips - about to get back to the mountains of housework that needs doing to work it off a bit! Home cooked curry is essential as that's what's on the menu for us tonight!

Oh and you're not the oldest, you're the one with the most pearls of wisdom! Grin

I've had to order a pair of maternity jeans a size down! Shock Have kept the bigger pair though as I suspect I'll be needing them later on in the pregnancy when my sickness has gone completely, especially if I don't stop craving Doritos!! Until these smaller ones arrive (hopefully tomorrow) I have the choice of the discomfort of my pre-preg clothes or constantly pulling up my jeans - a good look! Hmm - hence the cleaning day!

PiggyMad · 08/08/2011 15:09

Hi ladies!

I rang my doctors today and they've booked me in for an initial meeting with midwife next Tuesday - bit concerned that this is very early as I'll only be 5 and a half weeks Confused They also asked me to pick up a pack of forms to fill in so I've got those and have filled in all the relevant bits. In the pack it says I have another midwife appt between 9 and 12 weeks so maybe that's why they have an extra one in at the beginning? I'm a bit concerned that I don't have any symptoms at all. I'm only 4+2 so it is very early - just worried AF is going to come along Sad

carlita what have you bought? I received my first baby-related item today - ordered a denim maternity skirt from jojo maman bebe as it was only £9 in the sale!

trope we're planning on buying a house in the next few months. We rent at the mo and just want to be in somewhere that we can decorate how we want etc. Fingers crossed for your move!

bun At what point did you switch to maternity clothes? I work in a women's clothes shop and we have to wear their clothes so I've opted for leggings and a tunic this time in the hope it will last me to 12 weeks before I tell.

Oh, I amended the stats as well as I put the wrong age in for me Blush - I haven't been 25 since Feb... I wonder if we will be getting any more of the conception thread ladies over soon - hopefully they will have a flurry of bfps over there soon!

Hi Piggy. Try not to worry, like you said it's still really early, morning sickness etc doesn't kick in until about 6-7weeks for most people and some people don't get any symptoms at all (I didn't know I was pregnant with DS until I felt him kick at 7months!!). I know it's far too easy to say that though, I was nervous right up until my scan even though I had sickness Confused

This first MW appointment is just the 'booking in appointment' where they take all your medical history, general health (BP, weight etc), take blood and urine samples and talk to you about any concerns/questions you might have. The MW didn't go anywhere near my belly at mine.

I only just bought some maternity clothes last week, I had a big belly to begin with so had lots of room to accomodate the bump Grin On the other hand though, my friend was huge at 11 weeks and was in mat clothes by about 7weeks - I'm still not as big as she was at 11weeks, 15 weeks in!

I'm starting to feel the odd little movement late at night lately, really can't wait to be able to feel 'the baby' properly. Also can't wait to know if 'the baby' is a boy or girl so I no longer have to refer to them as 'the baby' Grin

Davinaaddict · 08/08/2011 21:36

Hi ladies - just wondering whether I'm allowed to gatecrash, as I was going to join the TTC thread just before I got my BFP but I was lurking for 2 months Smile

If bribery helps, I bring chocolate cake, and imaginary Wine?

So pleased for you all, as although I'm really not a stalker (but fully aware it actually sounds like I am Blush) I followed the thread for a couple of months, before deciding to join then BAM - BFP!

trope - I blame the pregnancy hormones, but I actually had a little cry when I saw your update on the TTC thread Grin

carlita I caught up with the TTC thread before the ante-natal threads and see what you mean about them descending into a huge misery fest (and I was one of those contributing Blush) So picked myself up, dusted my sorry self down and now starting to focus more on the positives Grin After all, we have a lot to be thankful for!

BunMyOven · 08/08/2011 21:51

Hi Davina you're not gatecrashing, you're on the TTC thread, albeit briefly! Grin The more the merrier! ...though I may take you up on a door stop sliver of that cake. Add yourself to the stats. How far along are you? and congratulations! Smile

Davinaaddict · 08/08/2011 22:16

Thank you! And help yourself to a doorstep Wink

I'm 9+3 - feeling bloody awful but I've heard some people say that 9 weeks is the worst so feeling deluded hopeful!

Loving that you ladies have already started buying maternity/baby clothes - have to confess I ordered loads of Maternity stuff from the Next sale, despite having all my last lot still in bags in the garage Blush Haven't actually started wearing any yet as I didn't quite get down to my pre-pregnancy weight before getting pregnant again (DS is 18 months), so still have some larger clothes I'm still wearing luckily. Not sure how long I'll be able to hide it though Confused

"pearls of wisdom" - lol bun - I don't feel very wise! Just nauseous and tired! Very exciting about movements! Must be amazing when it does happen!

piggy - I'm a complete freak of nature with all my early symptoms - it's really rare to be this much of a mess this early - please don't worry that you don't have any symptoms! You're the normal one here!! Wink good luck with house hunting too - hope you can find somewhere in time to move/decorate too!

davina aw, thanks! Is so nice to have people happy for me like that! Plus, just to say, you're not gatecrashing! you were on the other thread! I remember you! Grin

So, I shall take a BIG chunk of chocolate cake (thanks much!) and nervously pick at it; DP is on a train back from london right now.. they just got through croydon - said they could smell the burning from all the fires. Clapham Junction next... He just caught the first train to brighton when he got to victoria - rather than waiting for a train to portslade (our nearest station) as we didn't know if the trains were going to get cancelled or not.. Is just unbelievable what's going on in London tonight... He's supposed to be working late every night this week, but I think i'm going to demand he comes home and works from home in the evening instead. It just isn't safe in London at night right now...

Are any of you folks up in London? I do hope you are safe and far away from the trouble if so!
