Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi you guys, long time no see - and what a lot of developments (not really surprisingly!) Congrats on all the happy scans - mine is TOMORROW!!! and I'm so excited . Actually we're all really excited - the girls can't wait to see ZippyRoo! They have sooo many questions lined up to ask the dr that I can't answer - like do babies' ears pop (we flew back from England yesterday so it's on their minds). DH says they don't and he's an amateur physicist so should know...
We had a wonderful 2 weeks just us girls - lots of train travel, staying with people we didn't know (we went Couch Surfing) and the girls have gained so much independence and self-confidence. My mum also taught them to sew - and they're downstairs right now sewing a dress for ZippyRoo - how sweet is that? They are 6 and 7 so pretty impressive! Can't wait to see it - they won't let me yet because it's not finished.
They also had their first day back at school (and for DD2 first day of school ever!) today but it was just admin stuff and we were back home within 2 hrs. Tomorrow is the real big day - and then the scan in the afternoon!
Anyway, must get back to work. Will update with scan news tomorrow - we are itching to know who it is that's wriggling and jumping inside! It's so wonderful after so many weeks of paranoia... BTW congrats newcomers - pigletmania did you use to be pigletpants? I was on a AN thread with someone called pigletpants the time I MCed...
Best all!

addictediam · 01/09/2011 15:57

oeisha Next have always had some nice long sleeved tops, not sure about 3/4 length tho. and have you looked at asda? some of their pieces arent too bad.

again ghost next have had some really nice pieces although havent looked at their new range yet

abeautiful, how cute! you have to take a picture to show us all!

Oeisha · 01/09/2011 16:43

Thanks addicted. Will have a look at asda...not many on Next. Still all seems to be 'summer' stuff out there. I'm also not really willing to spend £50+ on a top, so that seems to rule out a lot of sites.

GL to all those with scans tomorrow.

I've opted for some meatball & nursery prep therapy tonight, so won't be on later. How excited do you think MIL can get? She's sooo excited we're having a girl. Hehehe. DH is even coming with us - even if it is just to keep his Dad company whilst me and MIL go all gushy over baby stuff.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 01/09/2011 17:07

Oeisha and ghost - I love my JoJo stuff. The http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+wrap-tops-in-maternity-tops-and-shirts+A9020 3/4 length sleeve wrap tops are heaven to wear - so comfy and glam and they have a couple of dresses and other work options that look good but aren't restricted to office only stuff. Worth a look, anyway. (JoJo Maman Bebe in case you didn't know what I meant).

I had a major emotional meltdown today. Got so bad I was sitting in the car in a carpark sobbing. Was so relieved when I saw DH's number flash up on my phone - I think he's psychically aware when I'm falling to bits.

Anyway, he told me to come over to his office and let me sob on his shoulder for a bit, then he took me out for lunch and discussed the mobile we're going to make for sproglet and generally distracted me a bit so I was in a fit state for my meeting at 2pm, which I managed OK and bah, I'm OK-ish now, I suppose, but still not great. Just so so grateful to have my DH. I honestly don't know what I'd do without him. I felt so bad earlier that I was wondering if I ought to just turn up at my MWL unit and cry at them so that I wouldn;t be alone, so OK-ish is an improvement.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 01/09/2011 17:11

3/4 length sleeve wrap tops even. Doh.

ghosteditor · 01/09/2011 19:05

thanks for the link cakes, and sorry to hear that you've been down lately. Pregnant-sobbing is quite cathartic though isn't it? When I had a meltdown about slicing my finger I cried the biggest fattest tears ever! I'm definitely more emotional at the moment than I've ever been before; it's a bit crazy really.

I just need to share a rant with you all - am Angry Angry Angry right now as have just found out that a very nearby neighbour is the one who has been feeding my (much loved, well fed, collared) little cat. Who the f*ck does that? She definitely knows the cat is mine as we've had discussions about her before. Cat has been missing a lot recently and quite often doesn't come home for a few days - it turns out that she's eating crappy nasty cat meat almost next door. Neighbour is a bit weird and we've had a few minor run-ins before but nothing major, though other neighbours have a bit of a feud going on due to some other unreasonable behaviour (including the theft of another neighbourhood feline who now lives there full time). Cat is so rarely home that we have missed vets appointments to get her annual jabs, so she can't go in a cattery and hasn't had a health check. She's also put on a lot of weight and doesn't look in such good condition anymore (we feed the cats science plan which is recommended by the vet, and the vet usually comments on what great condition she's in). Have posted on MN in the cat section but just needed to share my fuming here too...

fishandlilacs · 01/09/2011 19:21

Oh ghost our weirdy old neighbour did that to us with our old boy too-I was really cross. I had to politely but firmly ask her not under any circs to feed him as he was perfectly well fed at home. I also threatened to send her the verts bills after the third time of poloitely asking.

Not long after he started eating the crappy food and fatty ham she was giving him he go diagnosed with kidney failure and died shortly after. i never knew if it was connected but it still smarts. I would have a pop myself.

ghosteditor · 01/09/2011 19:47

oh fish that's awful! your poor moggy. Do you think she stopped in the end, after you'd asked so many times? My main concern (after the cat) is that we share a boundary and she has a husband and teenage kids - they're alright for the most part but I've heard them be quite foul to my former elderly next door neighbours, who had a bit of a feud with the family (admittedly said elderly neighbours, who were lovely to us, gave as good as they got, so not sure who was at fault really). The woman doesn't work and seems to sit there dreaming up bizarre theories and imaginary concerns. We all have tiny tiny gardens and it's a very conservative street full of nosy neighbours so I don't want to get involved in a feud; I just want them to leave my feline alone.

fishandlilacs · 01/09/2011 19:57

I don't know if she stopped, but he always always came home at about the same times every day-I have read your other thread and it sounds like your pusscat is moving out-she probably gets spolit rotten by the neighbour. It's really unfair. You dod need to have a word-can you make up some bollox like the cat is diabetic or something and therefore under a controlled diet?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 01/09/2011 19:58

Difficult situation, ghost, but I think a little lie saying that the cat needs a specially medicated diet and any other food will worsen her health condition and could she please stop feeding her this other food as you don;t want to have to forward all your vets' bills to her, but will be forced to, should the cat's condition worsen. If you want an actual condition that would be realistic for this situation then PM me and I'll tell you what we went through with one of our cats who is now on (very expensive) specialist food because of it.

And I just had another meltdown, dragged DH with me so we were both miserable, then I just thought fuck it, went and hugged him and told me to hug him back cos neither of us was going to go anywhere so we may as well just have a hug and forgive each other, which we did. He then gave me my anniversary present early and it is one of the most thoughtful and lovely presents I've ever been given - a leather-bound journal with paper pages made of cotton: a present to celebrate all three of our anniversaries. He said it was for when our baby was born, so I could continue the journal I've started. It;s just perfect, because I wanted to start a book of recipes, advice, pictures and memories - something for my baby to have if something happened to me ever. It's the most beautiful book - red embossed leather with creamy woven pages. I just burst into tears again. I must be a right fucking dream to live with at the moment! Oh well, at least I can laugh at myself.

ghosteditor · 01/09/2011 20:19

I think you're both right and I might have to tell her that the cat needs special food, and has she been feeding her because it's going to cause health problems The other cat she stole apparently has diabetes so she should understand this! I think I can probably lie at least that much (since I'll probably be flustered anyway). Will think it through but will probably have to go say something tomorrow. I did think about getting one of those medical tags for the cat that says don't feed, but perhaps I should confront her first. All I can really do is be ultra reasonable and calm and then even if she reacts badly I can tell nosy neighbours that it was all her.

Your DH sounds lovely and what a thoughtful gift! We had some bickering yesterday too but in the end both apologised (it helped that it was just because we were grumpy, not because of anything major). Must be hormones! I've despatched DH off for a long ride which will definitely cheer him up, but sadly I'm too big to get my usual source of cheering up, which is playing hockey (and the new season of training starts tonight and everyone is there and I'm home alone). I had a really bad dream about SiL's eating disorder last night - somehow it was my responsibility to ensure she ate enough - so I woke up feeling all stressy too.

supadupapupascupa · 01/09/2011 20:23

Loads of weird dreams here too, and general grumpiness Grin

today i went to see a physio for suspected PGP which has been confirmed Sad. Pleased to have a diagnosis and i can now concentrate on looking after myself in the best way possible. I have crutches too for when it gets really bad.
TBH I'm really well at the mo and felt like a slight fraud, but she understood that it comes and goes and will stay with me until I deliver DC2.

Got another appointment for 2 weeks time to see how i get on Smile

ghosteditor · 01/09/2011 20:28

supa, ouch! I'm really afraid I might get PGP (as if somehow worrying about that will distract me from worrying about more normal stuff I suspect) because I've had a lot of hip problems over the last couple of years, and am already hypermobile through my hips and other joints. I hope yours doesn't get too bad and stays manageable. Is there anything you can do at this stage, like pilates etc?

I'm starting pre-natal yoga next week! I'm excited as my previous class finished a few months ago and I've been a bit of a slacker about doing it at home. Apparently this class comes with 30 mins of 'natural birth' chat at the beginning too - might come back all tie-dyed and hippyish Grin

mumnosbest · 01/09/2011 20:40

Baby brain is really kicking in now. I've just changed into my pjs to find I've been wearing big baggy trousers back-to-front all day Blush Not sure whether to be pleased no1 noticed (unlikely due to big pockets on my bum) or annoyed none of my lovely friends or family told me.

On a happier note, awoke this morning after a very 'nice' dream which was actually about my DH and not a colleague or old school friend!

supadupapupascupa · 01/09/2011 20:40

Grin @ghost
she told me that pilates was good so i can use the 2 dvds i bought the other week. hopefully it will help.

good luck to you! sounds like you have enough pain to deal with!

ghosteditor · 01/09/2011 20:48

supa I've been doing pilates for the last couple of years on advice fromy my physio and I definitely think it has helped me. And I might whinge about it a bit but I get away pretty lightly and can carry on with my fave sports for the most part! Good luck with it.

mumsnoGrin at the trousers!

fishandlilacs · 01/09/2011 22:46

Has anyone else got really manky teeth? I have some real issues-i cant seem to get them clean and I am very concious of my stinky breath. I cant wait to get my Matb1 so I can go to the dentist.

BigHotMama · 01/09/2011 23:20

Fish I went to dentist for scrape n polish and just signed a form to state I was pg didn't wait for my mat form? Maybe worth a try?

It's lethal if I don't read here for few days as it just takes forever to catch up. Congrats to all those who had scans this week. Sooo can't wait for mine still seems ages away.

Dh has got the horn but am really trying to think of excuses to not go to bed is that awful of me? Watching bb bit on side for longer than I want to.

Will catch up properly on here tomorrow

Wormshuffler · 02/09/2011 07:46

Fish, I dont think you need a Matb1 for the denist, I was issued a signed perscription exemption form at my booking in appointment which I filled the rest in and sent off, I got a card by 12 weeks. Not that it will help me as my dentist has gone private and that includes pregnant people too.............
I am feeling very lazy hearing you all talk of the excercise you are doing, I was a regular jogger before ttc/pregnancy but havnt done any since last august Blush when I fell PG followed my a MC. I did a tiny bit inbetween that PG and this but really miss it now when I see others pounding the pavements.
Grin at Mumnosbest wearing trousers the wrong way around for a whole day!! The worst I have done babybrain-wise is put the cheese and butter in the bread bin and the bread in the fridge.....
Re the cat wars I am afraid I would be knocking on her door when you know it is in there and demanding they give her to you and stop feeding it. I wouldn't even bother trying to come up with an excuse. Tell it like it is!! Say "you are making my cat fat with your shit cat food and I know have missed vital appointments".
What a lovely present from your DH makescakes.

ParsleyLion1 · 02/09/2011 08:06

Morning :)

My dentist isn't NHS (we don't seem to have any of those with free spaces near here) but I went on Wed for my 6 month check up. She's given me freebie dentistry until May 2012 on the basis of seeing my bump and that I've been a patient for ages. The hygenist isn't giving freebies though so I guess it is at their discretion.

I'm having a bra dilemma at the moment - I've switch to non-underwired (because that's what the lady in M&S said) and bought a few bras. My usual underwired bras have lightly padded cups otherwise I get a lot of "cold today is it?" comments but the non-underwired don't. My being "cold" issues seem to have got more exaggerated since becoming pg but I can't find a decent non-underwired bra that will cover up my problem and I'm fed up keep crossing my arms! All suggestions gratefully received.

Welcome goats annd major congrats on the scans ladies - mine's a week today :)

parsely go to John Lewis - in their haberdashery department they have all sorts of moulded cups and stuff to sew into dresses. I see no reason why you can't insert those into a bra for 'protection'. Alternatively try La Senza - they do accessory type things and might have something suitable.

Interestingly, since DH and I broached the 'no sex because there's a little person in there and I might hurt it' the other day he seems to have recovered his joie de vivre and started something very interesting last night Pregnancy is good for your sex life apparently - I'm a happy girl.

I just wormed the cats and one of them really fought me - got my fingers bitten. Little sod.

Tum ti tum. Toblerone for breakfast (well, after my porridge). Poor sproglet is going to have a chocolate addiction like its Mummy.

redheadbedhead · 02/09/2011 08:28

mmmm toblerone....

I agree with worm about the cat situation. I'd be round there knocking on the door. There's no 'pussy-footing' around this one....

BigHotMama · 02/09/2011 08:38

Morning everyone!

Parsley I bought a bra from mothercare which has slight padding think it's called maternity t shirt bra and very supportive but I'm having probs with width of back usually 38 but now 40 and that even feels tight so have ordered some adjusters to fix onto back to give more comfort. I really hate having to go wireless lol.

Makescakes your getting sex life back on track and mine has become a battle, just don't fancy it and think last time had thrush which turned me off more. Dh nicknamed me frigid Blush and laughing at toblerone for breaky I also have chocolate addiction but mine is late at night I'm into dairy milk caramel or milks bars.

My friend had a baby yesterday and called her Amelia she is gorgeous, can't wait to meet her.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/09/2011 09:33

bighotmama - I have always been the slightly more... 'interested' one in our relationship, so it's really really nice to have DH pouncing on me for a change :-) Sorry to hear you've had thrush - it's a nightmare and I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed I don't get it because it just takes over - you're conscious of it all the time. One of the reasons I'm not sure what contraceptio to use when the pregnancy is over - the pill causes me so many thrush issues, but condoms are such a show stopper and feels like a figurative barrier between us as well as a literal one :( Oh well. I'm sure I won't want sex for a while after giving birth so I'll have some time to figure it out!

ghosteditor · 02/09/2011 09:41

redhead and worm thanks for your thoughts! We're definitely going to go round and DH has volunteered, so I may leave him to it. He's a bit more rational about the whole thing than me. I'm not normally one to back away from confrontation but I'm a bit worried that if they're being obstreperous I might just burst into tears.

DH went out cycling yesterday to do the South Downs Way (as if the Alps last week weren't enough!) - all went ok, except that he got stung on the nose, fell off twice, and then someone threw themselves under a train so he was delayed at the other end for two hours and had to come home via Clapham of all places. Poor lamb turned up muddy and cold at about 02.30 today! Makes me exhausted even thinking about it...
