A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

thanks bilblio - you watch, I'll be starting threads all over the place now I know what I am doing Grin.

Crikey that sounds bad - do you think LO might be putting pressure on your lungs making it harder for you to breathe? Hence the increased need for you medication? I only had childhood asthma but DH has it now (although not serious) but when he gets bad, it's a nightmare for him. Hopefully the dr can give you something.

Don't you just hate thinking of things to say to mean people AFTER the event. I am such a brooder as well and can't ever let things go so would literally let it bother me ALL day until I had taken my mood out on DH suitably to make me feel better Grin.

I am still a bit torn as to what it is, I have been googling (yes I know it is banned) and gradual leaking (off and on) is common when head is fully engaged so have put 2+2 together and decided that this could relate to me as my placenta for twin one is completely covering my cervix so it would have to seep around the side as such. Anyway, it could equally be the wrong answer and just bad pelvic floors so going to give it overnight and see what mw has to say tomorrow. DS was similar, contractions started three days after waters started leaking. I went to hospital on day one and they couldn't see / find any waters on day one but on day three it was clear they were coming out with greater force (and within an hour of being examined I couldn't walk with the pain of contractions!).

DS and DH are asleep on the sofa curled up together. It's very sweet and a lovely image of how our life is at the moment. I wonder if in a few months time all four of them will be asleep together (maybe that is just wishful thinking!!! Smile).

The asthma attack I had in labour last time really slowed things down so if you start to feel a bit funny asthma wise don't ignore it like I did and listen to everyone who said you never have one in actual labour. I remember reading that pg causes 1:1:1 of asthma staying the same:worse:better. Last time no difference, this time it's not actual under control atm (but I might have not taken my brown inhaler for 6 months so probably more to do with that - prescriptions were time consuming and expensive in the US) Dust and weather are triggering me currently.

well done BB3

sassy hope you've calmed down not that I would be

right strudel is in the oven, I have a overdue blog to write and a backlog of photos to export and catalogue

CheshireDing · 18/09/2011 21:15

Sassy she is clearly a sad old bag who enjoys sticking her nose in. I would have been outraged and cried too have a virtual Wine because it can't be drunk yet! :)

Loving the post natal thread BB3 :)

DH and I have spent all weekend putting up bloody furniture in the nursery, I now know why we have now other flat pack furniture in the house. It's a pain in the ass. It looks lovely but we have not stopped all weekend and I have a crampy tummy but don't know whether it is very mild BH or some weird strain I have caused myself. At least most things are done now and all clothes washed and hung so if Porgey turns up we will be ready, theoretically!

Scheherezade · 18/09/2011 21:44

just saw the news about cupoftea , how very sad :( makes me feel extra awful for complaining about my bumpy, makes you realise how lucky we are.

Leo4 · 18/09/2011 22:30

Scheh I feel the same....:( But we always moan until we know we could infact be worse off..its just the way of life...I can't stop thinking of cupoftea but its nice we have celebrated Beatrice in our new October birth thread :)

Sassy I work at tesco and I know how judgemental the shoppers can be...It's like haven't you got anything better to do! It's usually people whose life is shit and they want to ruin yours too! I have had some very snide comments about my pregnancy and I try and let it go over my head..but sometimes I cry! So don't feel silly about crying...pregnancy makes you emotional anyway!

monkeybubbles · 18/09/2011 22:32

such sad news for cupoftea, wish there was something else to say

meravigliosa · 18/09/2011 22:50

Very sad for cupoftea

GroovyRach · 19/09/2011 00:21

Hi ladies! Still can't stop thinking about cupoftea but by the sounds of things, she has a little fighter on her hands Smile. Lovely that she has taken first spot on the October birth list.

I have nothing new to report Sad. Thought after having what I think could have been mucus plug on Saturday morning that maybe things were happening but nope! Had very sore back and crampy tummy all day yesterday. Went for a nice hot bath in the evening but it done hee haw! Today hasn't been much different. The pelvic/pubic pain is just getting worse. Trying to turn in bed at night is becoming a challenge, often ending in me wincing in pain Sad

Like what some of you were saying about the comments, I've had quite a few remarks with the fact that me and babies dad aren't together. I am, I guess, a single parent and this often raises a few eyebrows! We have known each other for years, together on and off during this time, fell pregnant just as we called it a day after he got a new job a few hrs away. Typical really!! Don't get me wrong, we are very civil about the situation, he wants to be a part of her life and I am more than happy with this. It's honestly not the way I expected I would have kids, but it's done now and I'm looking forward to it Smile

Anyway, baby girl has the hiccups right now. God, I'm gonna miss all these weird feelings after she is born! Time for me to try and get comfy and get some sleep. Got a huge walk planned for 2mrw. Getting impatient now Grin

38 weeks come on little lady!!!

Penelope1980 · 19/09/2011 00:33

bilblio do you have a preventative? Sorry if that's a stupid q, but I was taking my puffer a lot until I got a preventative at a higher dose as turns out it was a really low dose.

In fact, you ladies have reminded me to add it to my hospital bag! Thanks! Am a bit lax - my asthma is exercise induced so as haven't been doing much has been ok, but who knows what will happen in labour after your experience penguin.

I overheard some preteens the other day debating whether I was fat or pregnant. They looks pretty embarrassed when they realised I'd heard them though!

Bubalie · 19/09/2011 09:27

Morning all, I am still so so sad about cupoftea. BB3 well done for starting a new thread.. It's getting exciting now we are all getting closer, I can't wait to check every day and see if there has been any babies overnight :).

37+2 today!

Scheherezade · 19/09/2011 10:07

Can someone link to the new thread? I can't seem to find it....

Bubalie · 19/09/2011 10:18

Scheherzade if you look at earlier posts from BB3 there is a link there

Scheherezade · 19/09/2011 10:47

ahh, thanks!

Having a minor freakout - still not got anywhere to put baby clothes, and they're still either piled up in the cot, or in plastic bags. Chest of drawers and wardrobes are full of our clothes. The spare room has a double bed, but a bit of room to squeeze an extra chest of drawers in, but DP is SO laxadaisacal (sp?) about it, and says "there's plenty of time yet" - err, NO! I can't drive so need him to take me to ikea to pick up a cheap chest of drawers, or some kind of storage thing to fit under the hanging rails in our (fitted) wardrobes. I could kill him ,I really could.

So, still not washed anything, because whilst there's nowhere to put them, there's no point!

BB3 · 19/09/2011 11:37

scheh what time does he finish work? I'd be waiting outside for when he arrives and just get in the car and make him go before he is even in - treat him to an ikea hotdog for dinner as a reward Wink if he complains tell him you are pregnant with his child and you are getting storage today or else. Wash all your clothes today so you have an incentive to make it happen. From my experience with DH unless I make him he won't do anything. We still have holes on the living room wall from where DS pulled the stereo down that he has been 'filling' for about 8 weeks. I swear I'm going to do it myself this afternoon as he'll never bloody do it!

I've just done my car insurance and now feel incredibly poor. Big cars are all well and good for big families but boy are they expensive to run!!!

Hope everyone is ok - I'm currently waiting for midwife appointment. No more leaking from me but my stomach is agony (not contractions like constant period pain) so want that checked out asap.

36+6 today and one week until d-day xx

BB3 · 19/09/2011 11:40

cheshire well done on furniture creation.
groovy fingers crossed it kicks off soon for you. In the meantime enjoy the hot baths and pineapple! I seem to be craving raw potato! [confused very late pregnancy brain emoticon{

Scheherezade · 19/09/2011 11:46

oooh, I like that idea bb3 - although we have a scan on Thursday so I might make him take me after that, gives me time to wash and iron the stuff! Offer of food is definately the way to encourage him.
I just had a probably-too-hot shower, and feel dreadful now, can't stand up without being all shaky, and very nauseous. Doesn't help I just had to tackle a rabid spider big enough to charge lodgings, thank god for Mr Dyson! Got myself a strong (WITH caffeine!) tea with some sugar in to pick me up.

Remind me - are you being induced/c-sec?

BB3 · 19/09/2011 12:30

CS next Monday. Twin one's placenta is literally stuck in my cervix blocking the way out (dangerously so apparently so if I go into natural labour they will want me in hospital within 30 minutes max to avoid any damage from the placenta detaching) so am limited to how far I can be away from it!

MW appointment was fine. She had a look and feel around and she said she thinks it might be starting off as cervix is very soft and starting to open but it's also very slow so I have nothing to worry about today. Helpful! Hmm

Other things she liked to inform me of today 'you look tired!' Really? Really? That will be because I am the size of a house and cannot sleep without pain. Stupid woman. Oh dear, I am clearly in that phase of pregnancy where I am going to offend people!

Leo4 · 19/09/2011 13:06

BB3 good news your waters not leaking! Not long now until your babies will be here! Hopefully your natural labour doesn't start off before the date though! I've tried everything to start off labour before induction..except for cod liver oil was put off by the cramps...but no joy ...apart from bloody show..so I am going to sit and wait...the LO will come when its ready..but I am so uncomfortable and not sleeping and my hospital suitcase keeps staring at me!

Is anyone else a student at all? I do not know how Im going to cope continuing my degree with a new born baby.. but we shall see!

Sche I know how you feel as I am awaiting my little brothers furniture as he is 5 and was still using his cot/bed and baby furniture but was outgrowing it and its still in amazing condition and I couldnt get anything quite as good as that with my money...but my parents had no new furniture for him so first have to wait for arrival of his new furniture before I can get his...pallaver! But they are doing me a favour so I can't rush them! They keep saying baby won't be in his room for ages...and I am thinking yes but where am I going to put the clothes they are all in plastic boxes atm Anyway hopefully you can nag your husband about it..or guilt him into taking some action by getting emotional about it!!!

Bubalie · 19/09/2011 13:22

Scheherzade don't mention spiders. We live in the old cottage, and this year the spiders are massive and everywhere. I have already killed 2 this morning I have one of those battery operated spider catching things - the spiders are so big this poor device struggles to suck them in!! We have bought one of those sonic spider deterrents as well but apparently it can take up to 6 weeks to start working. I hate them!!

I think I am nesting, been cleaning yesterday and today manically and although my back is hurting me I can't stop and just lie down and relax. I've got everything ready for the baby and nursery is all done, all bedding and clothes washed and ironed and I still can't sit still and watch some TV or read... I keep cleaning Confused Heeelllpppppppp!!!!

MrsP81 · 19/09/2011 13:38

I can't believe the rudeness of some people sassy! I would have cried too. Hope you're not dwelling on it. (Although I would be, raaaaaaah!)

It's getting exciting on here with babies due soon! I am a little bit jealous as I am due the end of October so still only 34+6. And still got 2 weeks of work left.

We are also having loads of massive spiders in our house this year. I was hoping the cat would eat them but she just ignores them.

I was feeling sad about cupoftea yesterday and I told DH about it thinking that he would give me a hug and some reassurance, but instead he cried. I felt really bad, I think I sometimes forget that this is his baby too and he shares the same anxieties as me. Bless him.

Bubalie I need some nesting to kick in soon, my house is a tip!

Off to see the MW now.

Scheherezade · 19/09/2011 14:31

another one wh owould appreciate the 'nesting' instinct, right now I just want to curl up in a little corner with enough tea and cake to see me through the next 3 weeks!

mrsp thats so sweet of your DP, bless.

BabCNesbitt · 19/09/2011 15:36

Scheh, that sounds blissful right now... two more weeks before I start ML, sigh.

If anyone's still sorting out storage, I can really recommend the Ikea hanging shelves (Skubb, I think they're called) for dirt-cheap low-effort clothes storage - we got this yesterday, along with the drawers that fit in it, and shoved it in DH's wardrobe. It holds loads - all of the newborn and 0-3 clothes we've got (and we got a lot! Blush) And you could still get a hot dog at the end of the trip. :)

BB3, thanks for setting up the births thread. :) Keeping my fingers crossed that everything stays utterly uneventful for you before next week!

Had an acupuncture session on Saturday to try and turn wee yin the right way round. Got a couple of moxa sticks to use at home, which DH very kindly used on me last night; now the bedroom stinks like a cold ashtray. Oh well...

BB3 · 19/09/2011 16:31

babyc things just got eventful. I'm on my way rushing to labour ward as I'm bleeding a placenta is starting to detach (sorry for tmi but it's like losing clots of blood). Not sure if it'll be today or tomorrow but these babies are coming. Wish me luck ladies x

Scheherezade · 19/09/2011 16:41

oh wow - good luck bb3 ! Will cross my fingers for you and babies.

cheekydino · 19/09/2011 16:44

Lots and lots of luck BB3, thinking of you and the babies, hope all goes well.
