A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sassy34264 · 18/09/2011 07:02

it is just awful. i cant imagine how they must be feeling. it is such a terrible start to this long journey we have been sharing with each other.
i'd never heard of it before, but i googled it. so sad. i hope she and her family (esp her dd's) are getting all the love and support they need. xxx

sunface · 18/09/2011 07:13

:(

seasaltbaby · 18/09/2011 09:13

OMG this is the worst news, I'm so so sad for cupoftea, absolutely heartbreaking for her & her family, sending our thoughts & love xx

Bubalie · 18/09/2011 09:28

Really sad for cupoftea :(

MrsP81 · 18/09/2011 09:52

Heartbreaking news, I'm so sorry for cupoftea. Sad

bilblio · 18/09/2011 11:07

So sorry cup of tea thinking of you all. x

Trudyla · 18/09/2011 11:40

It's awful Sad. I can't stop thinking about her and her family.

BB3 · 18/09/2011 13:52

Hey ladies

I was wondering whether we should start a birth list? I know we don't know how long Beatrice will be with cupoftea but she is the first of our little ones to arrive and would be nice to mark it on the thread. What do you think? I never know what to do in situations like this. Sad

Also Im not sure whether my waters are slowly leaking. Sorry for tmi but went to bathroom and had very, very damp underwear that has gone a bit through my trousers. It seems to have done it gradually in past couple of hours. Doesn't seem to be gushing in anyway and doesn't smell like wee but then it could just be my poor pelvic floors leaking. Blush

Anyway have popped some fresh ones on and will monitor it for the next few hours and see what happens. They did this with DS and leaked slowly for 3 days until they finally broke!!!

Hope everyone is doing ok today.

cupoftea if you're still reading this thread we are all thinking of you and sending lots of love.

CheshireDing · 18/09/2011 14:12

I think that sounds like a great idea BB3 and Beatrice is the first "October" baby. We could set up a separate stats list under ante natal just called October Baby Births and then send a link to cupoftea of the other thread.

I nominate someone else though because I cannot even sort my profile and photos to make it public - will try again :)

Aren't they supposed to smell metallicy BB3? - Lots of pants sniffing probably going on now over the next few weeks! :)

BB3 · 18/09/2011 14:39

Well they don't have a metallic smell - more fusty (Crikey it's so gross this last stage!!!!). I don't think it's them as seem to be drying up so to speak x Blush

Am knackered today. Walked for about an hour (slowly) round the fair yesterday with DS and am cream crackered. Unfortunately DS is not and is currently mounting me while I lay on the floor!!!

PenguinArmy · 18/09/2011 14:59

slow water breaking

PenguinArmy · 18/09/2011 15:03

probably worth wearing a pad or white knickers so if you see any colours it will be more obvious, just in case like

I just remembered how useful I found straws last time. The only time I could drink/was thirsty was when I feeding LO. DH would hold a glass up and I would drink it through a straw Blush I'm sure others managed to hold the glass themselves but it can be a battle getting them onto the breast to start with before they know what to do. Eventually of course I was able to MN and feed at the same time.

I think the stats should be in post-natal, and we could start a chat thread up in place ready as well.

BB3 · 18/09/2011 15:16

Ok this is really gross but they do smell semen-like! Oh I don't know. How many times can you get a pair of pants out the washing basket to smell them??? GrinGrinGrinGrin!

Have light grey underwear on which is how I noticed the true extent of the leak but will monitor it until 5ish and see if I get anymore x am quite crampy too but not contractions more period cramps.

Yes agree re post natal and we can decide when to move from here to there perhaps once the majority have delivered?

PenguinArmy · 18/09/2011 15:18

semen like I believe is a sign it could be waters. I would be calling the maternity ward asking for advice

PenguinArmy · 18/09/2011 15:18

not the actual presence of semen mind, just the smell Grin

BB3 · 18/09/2011 15:32

penguin there is no chance of it being actual semen trust me! It was that that got me in this humongous, paranoid state in the first place Wink and DH refuses point blank at this stage (Was same with DS). I'm going to watch it until 5 then give them a call xx

sassy34264 · 18/09/2011 15:36

bb3 i would ring the labour ward. you're having an elective c section, so its not like there is any reason to wait to go into full labour imo.
good luck if you get whisked in. Smile

i think the birth stats is a good idea. Beatrice is the 1st oct 11 baby to be born and should be recognised as such.

well i had an interesting time in tesco yesterday. well, tbh it was totally uneventful until the last 10mins. me and dp had spilt up to fetch the last few things and i told him i would meet him at the milk. as i was waiting this older woman came up to me and said, 'have they not had their dinner yet'
it was 6.30pm and they were eating dried apricots. i said ' yes they have had their dinner'
as she went to walk away she clocked my bump. she said 'are you having another? i said 'yes' she said 'oh what have you done that for?' i said ' cos i wanted to' she points to isobel and says ' but she's only a baby, you shoul have waited' and the again she said 'she's only a baby, look, you should have waited' 'how will you cope with them' and then proceeded to walk off as dp arrived. i sort of shouted over my shoulder 'i'm sure i'll manage. and then to dp, i said 'so fuck off'. i was so flabbergasted, she caught me completely off guard. i ended up stood in the milk and yogurt aisle crying! i dont know why. but it really upset me. then we were at the checkout, isobel pulled her shoe and sock off, so we put it in the trolley while we were packing, and she walked past and said to dp ' oh she's lost her sock and shoe. (dp didnt know it was same woman) and he said 'no, its ok, we've put it in the trolley' and she said 'but her foot will get cold' !!!!!
as we were walking out dp says 'stupid cow has managed to annoy me now'
can you believe her?! what is her problem? i said to dp, i should have said ' well as you won' t be paying or babysitting, i really dont think its and of your business- so piss off.
we had a laugh in the car afterwards though, cos dp says ' keep an eye out for her' as he pulled out of car park space. i said 'why? we gonna run her over' he said ' no i'll just open my door and boot her off her feet'
he said ' she never had no shopping you know' i said ' i bet she does it all the time, goes around upsetting people on purpose.' dp says ' she's probably making her way round to asda now' i said 'yeah to accost some fat person and point to their shopping of pizza and pies and say, no wonder you're fat, look at what you are eating' silly witch.

BB3 · 18/09/2011 15:51

sassy what a rancid old cowbag!!! She's probably a childless spinster who us do unhappy she's trying to make everyone else equally so! (I like to make these kinds of things up about rude people to make myself feel better! Grin) glad you and DH could laugh about it after - people like that really annoy me! I get ally of raised eyebrows when I say I have these two on the way and a 2 year old at home (seriously it's not like I chose to fertilise 2 eggs now is it!) also pissed me off that everyone assumes they're ivf babies. Not that it would matter of they were Christ it'd be even more special but who asks those things of strangers!!!!

I'm in the bath at the mo (this is completely and utterly self absorbed but I couldn't be faffed this morning thinking I'd have a shower later but if it is anything, id like to not have gorilla legs and dry shampoo in my hair!Blush)

cheekydino · 18/09/2011 16:30

Sassy - nasty woman, it is always old women in supermarkets isn't it? I had similar experiences when ds was small - he often used to cry in his pram as he hated lying flat due to reflux (which can't always be avoided when dashing in and out of the supermarket!) - the amount of 'helpful' old women who would come up and tell me it was obviously because he was hot/cold/hungry/missing a sodding sock. I had awful PND as well so it would always reduce me to tears! It's always afterwards when you think of something clever to say back. You will need a set of stock responses for when you are out with all three of them to embarrass people who say anything silly/upsetting!

BB3 - I had similar moment in the shower this morning when I noticed my legs and thought about shaving them and just couldn't be bothered. Then I had one painful contraction over breakfast and thought I really should have. Nothing since though so I don't think anything is happening.

BB3 · 18/09/2011 18:15

I forgot how frustrating the last bit is with the is it? Isn't it? Issues. Nothing else leaking today so just told to monitor overnight as have mw appointment tomorrow morning with mw but obv go in if gets worse.

I don't know how to start a new thread - anyone know? If not will have a go tonight once DS is in bed which I'm hoping will be in the next hour but knowing him it'll be hours yet!!

BB3 · 18/09/2011 18:19

Oh and sassy that lady would have had a few words to say about me as a mother on Thursday if she had seen DS. Went to Southampton shopping DS leaked in car seat I didn't have any spare trousers so he was in his buggy in t-shirt and nappy (he is going through an I don't want to wear shoes and socks phase anyway) and I had to cover his legs up with his hooded top until we bought trousers and changed him. I'm sure that constitutes child abuse in her evil eyes but he was happy enough (he'd go round stark raving naked if I'd let him Wink).

PenguinArmy · 18/09/2011 19:02

If you look under the bright blue banner above the thread where the topic is e.g. for this one it's "Topics » Ante-natal clubs" in little blue writing is start a thread in this topic. If it's not been done later I'll look up the date of her birth and start the thread myself (or someone posts the data and weight here I'll take it from there)

BB3 · 18/09/2011 19:51

Fingers crossed this has worked... births

BB3 · 18/09/2011 19:51

Nope, trying again births

bilblio · 18/09/2011 20:15

BB3 Well done!

sassy what a horrible woman! I'd have spent the rest of the day thinking of suitably cutting retorts.... none of which I'd be brave enough to say.

I've been very lucky avoiding the nutters, I just get people giving DD money! She was a pretty and very smiley baby (I'm obviously biased, but she was.) Twice when she was a baby random people in the supermarket crossed her hand with silver, 50p, or gold, £1 and even now occasionally in the shops she'll get old dears giving her 50p for sweets. I try to refuse, but they insist. I'm really going to have to watch her as she grows up. :o

BB3 When my waters went last time I thought it was wee, but it didn't smell... or had a slightly sweet smell.
I read on here at the time that so long as the colour is clear you're fine, and so long as you don't have an internal you're sterile inside, so fine. If they give you an internal then they'll then have to induce within 24 hours (I think, could have been 48 hours.)
It was about 48 hours between my waters rupturing and the first contraction, then DD arrive 7 hours later.

I'm off to the doctors tomorrow. I've had 3 nights of terrible sleep because of my asthma and cough. I never use my ventolin (in fact I've had to pinch my Mum's because the one I had went out of date in 2005, 2008, and Feb 2011) but I've been having to take it every couple of hours. I'm off to bed soon because I feel so tired and shaky from the ventolin. LO really doesn't like all this coughing either!
