Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

Ooh, not that late, Spiker - the latest we moved was 32 weeks - still exhausting though!

Yes Friz, this baby's head is right down and often feels like he's going to drop out... usually on the school run!

Im having those sharp pushy pains too.I got scared yesterday that the baby was going to break out in the food aisle in sainsburys!!
hopefully it will be a good baby and stay there til the end of February!
Trying to agree on a middle name right now.Favourite this week is Scarlett.
Hope everyone ok today

Marne · 31/01/2006 09:21

Hi girls,
Yes head feels very lo now, when stood up for too long it feels like she's going to drop out!
We are also trying to decide on a middle name but not sure what goes with Saffron, any ideas?
Well i went shopping again yesaday with my bf and ended up buying more baby clothes, dh wants to go out today so i am going to have to stop myself from going in mothercare etc..

totallyinlove · 31/01/2006 09:31

Morning ladies! how are you all doing? Not too bad here. Getting very tired now. Got to go see a consultant this week to check its ok for me to have a homebirth. My iron levels haven't gone up any so I am a little worried that they will say no. But providing everything goes ok with the comsultant, I have got the midwife coming next weekend to deliver my homebirth pack. I need to tidy up my bedroom properly to make room for it. Another thing I can't get round to doing!

Is anyone else getting horrendous leg cramps at night? They are disturbing me more than having a huge bump in the way!

I have finally packed bags for hospital just in case though. Just about got everything together for the baby. I have just got to put the covers back on the moses basket but thats it.

Lizzylou · 31/01/2006 12:15

HI all, not long to go now!
Jealous of all of you with homebirths and heated pools etc........
Just had good MW appt with a nice, mature midwife who seemed to think baby was of a good size but not huge..she also said that baby is still breech, but still time to turn, but scan is on Friday so may be booked in for a C/S then. After being rreally worried about delivering a huge baby and either it getting stuck again and/or me ending up with a fanny looking like it's been hit by a blunderbuss, I am now having nightmares about C/S's! Can't win!
Anyway, BP was v low, 90/50, it is normally low but not that low and had traces of protein in water, but alls well. Roll on bloomin Friday!

hello everyone

I'm bored! I have watched des and mel and I am looking at the baby room thinking 'i must do some washing' and then logged on instead! I am really bored of being pregnant now and am big big big. I even missed work this morning! I have had a facial, met a friend for coffee, have aqua again tomorrow but I am running out of things to do! Any great ideas that don't involve housework?!

RosiePosie · 31/01/2006 15:24

Really wish i could go to bed, feel knackered!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 31/01/2006 16:38

Yeah poppy H we can be birthing buddies, Helen on Feb thread also due same date, but has had a show, so I'm guessing will be a bit earlier!!

My dh likes Scarlett BTW, wanted it for a 1st name for ours, but I've put my foot down!

V happy today, as someone nearly fell over when I told them I was due end of feb, they were thinking May time so I can't look as huge as I feel! (or maybe they were being very polite) but I don't care!!

Lizzylou · 31/01/2006 16:57

Lucky you Frizbe...everyone asks me if I am expecting twins!
Can I get some advice from those who have had C-Sections? How easy is it to cope afterwards? What help will I need with 23mth old DS and for how long?
Munz...chill out lovely, this is a nice timne as you have it all to yourself, relish it and look after yourself!

poppyh · 31/01/2006 17:35

Lizzylou, if you have a section the first couple of days are the worst.I found catheter the worst bit and the general discomfort. But at least you can rest in hospital. When you get home you will prob need to take it easy for a week or two.If your Dh has paternity leave he might have to help you with 23 mth old especially baths, etc.
You can drive for a while either.
Its not as bad as it seems, but it can be hard taking it easy with other children.Once the stiches are removed, after about a week, you will start to feel better.
Hope this helps

poppyh · 31/01/2006 17:35

Sorry I meant CANT drive!!

romilly · 31/01/2006 19:36

spiker - i feel for you too! i think we are both mad. dont know which is worse - moving at 38 weeks or moving just after having the baby. the thing i am finding a bit weird is not doing the nursery properly because there is not much point for such a short time. cadmum is doing the same as you, pretty much - she is moving now.

laundrylover - did you really swap houses? how amazing - at least you both wanted to complete etc. at the same time!

hi everybody else - is everybody rushing around or does anyone manage to get any rest in at the moment?

lizzylou -good luck for friday

vickiyumyum · 31/01/2006 19:40

god what a lousy night and day! i have had that sickness bug, can't remeber the last time i was sick, but this morning at 2.30 i was up and in the bathroom and finally left it at 7.45! had to get my mum to come and pick the boys up and take them to school and nursery and then went back to bed. have been ok since lunchtime, but it is ds2's 4th birthday today, so had to go to an indoor play area with 12 screaming 3 and 4 yo, and then sit in a room with them while they ate chips and nuggets with teh smell turning my stomache.
i felt so guilty that i was ill on his birthday, but he didn't seem to notice. several of the mums asked if i was ok, and a few were shocked to find out i was pg!!! i am 33+ wks did they just think i was gettign fat????

romilly · 31/01/2006 19:49

poor you vikkiyumyum - that doesnt sould like much fun.
@ your friends being shocked! you must dress very well or something to disguise it. no-one is ever in any doubt that i am pregnant, lol - a total stranger even came up to me in the street (a woman) - felt my bump, asked if it was my first baby, and then said "hope it doesnt hurt too much". i was gobsmacked

UniSarah · 31/01/2006 21:14

It can be so hard to tell if someones pg... I made a bit of a faux pas this morning at the aquanatal class...I asked some one when theirs was due ( they had just asked me the same) and recieved the reply- "oh no, I'm not expecting, I just like this low impact class" Arrrgh- foot in mouth moment. I had asumed every one in the class WAS expecting and she just wasn't showing in a big bump kind of way , turns out shes just chubby. eek.

Spiker- glad you like the extenders, nice not to have squashed ribs isn't it.

I have to take back what I said the other day about dh and the sewing machine- he has now made a moses basket size flease blanket and a very cute little red towel for pip. AND hes going to oil the new chest of drawers at the wekend coz he thinks I should be avioding the volotile compounds in the fumes. Arh bless.

On another baby forum I'm reading- there are currently 3 live and healthy babys from the March girls already! Its bigger group than this one I think, but still scarey. I'm putting off turning the page on the calender, coz when I do pips due date will be in sight!

vickiyumyum · 01/02/2006 08:41

yay! feel better today, i went ot bed early last night and slept through to about ten minutes ago, best nights sleep i've had in ages.

i think some people haven't known for def that i was pg, because being bigger (size 18/20 pre pg) they weren't sure if i was pg or had put on weight, which i can understand for the first few months, but since about 24wks, to most people it has been obviously baby! saw woman at the play area yesterday that was pg, but she hada very funny shaped bump, very low and hardly above her belly button, let alone to her ribs, she was talking to me and informed me that she was 32 weeks, i ddin't say anything about her starnge bump, but having seen lots it certainly was the strangest i have ever seen!

newgirl · 01/02/2006 16:44

vyy - glad you are feeling better - sounds like you did an amazing job getting through the party!

lizzylou - c-sections - i reckon it is well worth getting a midwife or antenatal teacher to talk you through what happens so nothing is a shock. I found the op itself very straightforward and exciting - baby was soon there and that was so exciting. Everyone was cheerful and smiley and it was a calm experience ( I had the curtain up so I couldn't see any gory bits!). I kept thinking 'fern brittan has done this 4 times'! seemed to help at the time!

The one thing that surprised me was that they put vibrating socks on my lower legs to help avoid blood clotting so that felt weird. Also the catheter but I couldn't feel it as such - I just didn't want anyone looking at it! There was certainly no problem with feeding/cuddling etc and you are given a buzzer so you can ask for midwives to help hand you baby until you can do it yourself. I used that constantly the first day and they always seemed cheerful and happy to help.

I would recommend not having loads of visitors in the hospital as it is hard to sit up day one and you are quite drugged - you may want a day or two just you and dh until you feel better again and have had a leisurely bath!

When you get home, try not to rush things, but I guess that is the case with all new mums. They will give you info sheets about what to do and what not to do. I honestly never felt any pain afterwards - they give you lots of painkillers and you should take them - it helps you recover faster. My dh took three weeks off after my c-section not two as originally planned and it was so helpful - the first two weeks were essential and the third was the time when we all started to enjoy ourselves a bit more! If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to help if I can.

byeeeee

laundrylover · 01/02/2006 20:21

typing one handed as scoffing pizza with tons of pineapple on!!
yes, not only did we house swap but our buyers were on their second house swap in a year and then moved again before having a year in our old place!! they down sized twice and then bought a second tiny pooch and had to upsize!!! we think there are marriage problems being avoided!!!!
I was on a training course today and poor Tilly was the first to arrive (in her pyjamas) and the last to leave nursery . really good course though and looking forward to part 2 tomorrow.
Lizzy - hope you are standing on your head right now to make that baby turn.
by the way i can't bring myself to watch the extreme bfers on telly later but bet it will be topic of the day on MN tomorrow....

Frizbetheexpansionset · 01/02/2006 22:40

Glad your feeling better Vickiyy, unisarah, oopse, someone made the same mistake with my friend yesterday, they asked when we were due, said friend replied very hastily that only I was....I didn't know where to put myself It's just one of those things eh! 3 March babies already as well, now that is scarey!
Anyway hope all are ok today? nothing much happening here....
