Here we are girls. I think we are all a bit shell-shocked at the moment, aren't we?

Thinking of you DHW and wishing life wasn't so cruel sometimes.

hello. can i join please? i am 33 weeks pregnant. i have a homebirth booked. i haven't put any weight on yet but I have an enormous bump so I can't quite work that one out! Hope to see you all around.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/01/2006 17:06

Hi totallyinlove, you jammy thing with no weight gain!! how'd you do that then?

RP thanks for the info! Munz she'll be just abt 2.4.......she has a pushchair and dolly, so we'll wait and see eh!!

RosiePosie · 16/01/2006 17:11

Well, I wasn't much help, Friz, but atleast we'll be in the same boat! My dd is very stroppy - I don't think she's going to take kindly to the new arrival at all.

Hi totallyinlove, I've a homebirth booked too. I had one last time too. Is this your first?

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/01/2006 17:14

Oh munz, sorry 4got to post about maternity class thing! Well all the people at this mornings are now post natal, bar me!! due to my friend 'dropping' this am! so at least I have a circle of post natal mum's who I'm getting to know, although this is a bit of a way from me, we're all in the general area (rural life etc)

I'm getting to know far more nearly due mums at Aquanatal on a Thurs, some of whom already know each other, and this is good too, you can never know enough other mums in my opinion! last time I even managed to make a few very good friends, one of whom I do a babysit swap with every other week

Frizbetheexpansionset · 16/01/2006 17:14

Cross post rp, will keep you updated!

munz · 16/01/2006 19:16

hiya totally in love. how r things with u?

friz/RP fingers crossed ur DD's are ok with the new arrivals. will they be middle children? - perhaps the older one could help out more/play with the younger one? with any luck u won't have any probs and those u do have will be sorted out quickkly.

19 days to go - YAY! but also dreadin it as VAT inspection on the 1st march - last time they were out for a month - least i'll not be there - they'll prob ring when i'm in labour! lol.

spiker · 16/01/2006 21:42

Am almost fretting about how DS will react to the new arrival. He will be 2.1 and has been blanking my bump for months now - I keep telling him there's a baby inside but he just ignores me. Mind you, a friend from my first NCT group is also due at the same time, and her DS points at her tummy and says 'beebie' - he's going to be soooo disappointed when a baby pops out instead of a fimble...

I'm getting a book to try to prepare him, and will try the baby-doll thing too. The poor lad will be changing nursery, moving home and coping with a new arrival, all at the same time. So have decided to delay potty-training until things have calmed down a bit!

hi totallyIL - er, are you serious that you haven't put on any weight? What does yr midwife say? Or maybe you live somewhere like me where they just look at you instead of weighing or measuring.

spiker · 16/01/2006 21:43

I meant, "Am also fretting..."

Frizbetheexpansionset · 17/01/2006 08:48

Munz dd will technically be the eldest, at least that is around most of the time, as ss lives with his mum during the week! we only have him every other weekend as well, so although she knows he's her big brother, he's also not around that much IUSWIM, although I know he'll be great with baby when he's about, as he was great with dd and now he's older I can try to rope him in changing nappies etc (which of course he won't want to do now......)

Spiker I have tried the book thing too, dd just looked at me aghast and refused to read it again oopse.......

poppyh · 17/01/2006 09:10

Hi everyone.Im worried about my dd too.She will have just turned 3 when baby comes. She is going to be SO bossy!!She already thinks its HER baby.My Ds will be 12 and I think he will be fine.Am also hoing to give him a small bit of responsibility like feeding, etc.
Am paranoid about my bump.I am carrying really small this time. When I lay down I actually forget im pregnant.I find it really upsetting.Have had a scan, and baby is right size but I really want to show off my pregnancy, but people are shocked when I say im due on 27th Feb.
The builders put up the scaffolding on Friday and start our loft conversion on the Monday. They say it will not take longer than 5 weeks and I hope not as baby comes in exactly 5 weeks on Monday!Arrggghh!
Really tired now and back is always killing me.Hope all is well.

Marne · 17/01/2006 10:20

My dd will be 2.1 when baby is born, she loves my bump, shes always pointing at it and saying 'baby in there' and 'my sister' she feeds it through my belly button and she throws her ball at it and says 'baby catch'. I think she will be fine when she arrives, she might find it hard having to wait for things but i think she will love being a big sister.

RosiePosie · 17/01/2006 10:47

I said to Rosie the other day "do you want to say hello to the baby?" and pulled up my top. She said "No!" and then pushed her head between my chest and said "Hello Boobies!" instead

totallyinlove · 17/01/2006 13:18

i got on the scales this morning and I am still the same weight as I was pre-pregnancy. I am more worried than the midwife. I've not had morning sickness or anything. My husband says my legs, arms and bottom have got thinner though so it musy be coming off there!! I am very anaemic at the moment. Other than that I am doing very well. Hopefully 2nd homebirth! Last time was really the perfect birth (as far as giving birth goes!)

laundrylover · 17/01/2006 13:39

Hello everyone and welcome TinLove.
Tilly will be 2.1 too so that seems a popular gap for a few of us! She says that there is a baby in my tummy and kisses it in the morning though often my boobs as they are bigger than my bump!!
My bro got her a couple of books for Xmas and 'There's a House Inside my Mummy' is a good one to read.
However depsite all this prep and us telling her that the baby will cry all the time and be horrible (sorry first timers!!) I still think it's going to come as one hell of a shock!
Poppy - sympathies on the pathetic bump front. Went to docs last week re depression and she said 'so you've recently had a baby have you?'. Was not impressed!
My sis just emailled photos of her and the BF naked bungee jumping in NZ!! Them were the days eh???

Lizzylou · 17/01/2006 16:32

HI all

Have just caught up with thread...makes for interesting reading! Have been stuck in with a chicken pox infested DS clinging to me, so no room for MN breaks!
I am opposite to those with pathetic bumps...I am 33 weeks and measure 38weeks, have been scanned once and will be again in 2 weeks, apparently my placenta is almost covering the escape route too and the baby is breech (but is early for that prob) so may be having a C-Section...sick of useless midwives and stroppy Consultants...no-one gives you a straight answer!
Not worried to be honest, just would rather know what was going to happen! I do like to plan!

laundrylover · 17/01/2006 16:48

Hi LizzyLou - wondered where you'd been hiding! Hope the pox has gone now. Sounds like your bump is misbehaving so hope everything sorts itself out soon.

It's very cold in the house today and I am very bored but not inclined to do anything at all!! Need to get off my fat bum!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 17/01/2006 17:09

Hi LizzyLou, glad your ok, even tho you've been pox bound. Shame about bump, but sure if they're going to c-sect you they'll let you know asap, are they doing any more scans on you at all?

LL shock at your doc.......as for you sis, well done on the jump never mind being naked

TIL you jammy git! so do you look like a python that's just had its dinner then

Well have booked in for home birth with midwife, having nattered we both reckon its a good idea with dh working so far away and my fairly fast birth last time, she's advised me to get £2.00 shower curtains from wilkos for floor and pampers change mats for the mess and obviously if dh is here and is panicking about us being at home, I can still go to hosp no probs, so that should make him happier as well. Not engaged or owt here, although head is very low down, which will explain why my pubic bone is hurting!

romilly · 17/01/2006 17:30

sorry to hear you are having a bit of pain friz.

lizzylou - i am the same as you - measuring a few weeks ahead at 33 weeks. i have a growth scan on monday to see whether they need to think about c-section. like you, i just want to feel prepared either way. dont mind how i have the baby as long as she is safe and healthy.

RosiePosie · 17/01/2006 18:50

Top tip re. the pampers mats - get the Bed Mats as opposed to the Care Mats - they are much bigger and more use! I had a MW app. today too - all fine, baby's head is well down. I have a scan and more bloods in a couple of weeks ( hospital policy for a homebirth) and then it's all systems go - from 37 weeks. I'll probably still be hanging on a month after that anyway!

OP posts:
Frizbetheexpansionset · 17/01/2006 20:29

Thanks for the Tip RP, have passed it onto the Feb thread as well, had bloods today, apparently the last here unless I go over?!
Hurrah roll on home birth, quite looking forward to it now I've made up my mind so long as they get here with the pethadine in time.....

Munz where are you today?? hope your ok?

munz · 17/01/2006 21:04

ahy i'm here friz - sorry have been sooo busy actually working today! lol. haven't had much time to respond to everyone. blinking VAT returns and EU purchases, anyhow! so u're going for the home brith for def? u're that far down already won't be long for u then give it 3/4 weeks or so hopefully! what are you doing to help combat the pain?

RP - fingers crossed for u as well then and u'll ahve ur home birth - it's getting really close now isn't it! LMAO @ ur DD! lol - hello boobies in deed! lol. bless her!

rom - fingers crossed still for u, how much bigger are you actually measuring then? have u sen the consultant yet?

Liz - u sound just like me with the planning front! lol - I have to have a list for everything as well - do u? lol. I think with the c section if I were to need one, i'd rather do an elective, u know if I did go over rather than have a failed induction baby get stressed I get stressed etc. fingers crossed thou u'll have the birth u want.

LL - how r u doing hon? did u see the antinatal depression thread? the girls on there are v friendly, thankfully apparently there's no link between AND and PND.

pop - fingers crossed your house finished in time.

rom - how did ur class go?

well the postie today asked if I was PG or not - I could have kissed him! lol - I see him everyday and finally someone's asked if I'm PG! YAY!! we've gone beyond the lookin fat stage! lol. he seemed a bit shocked thou when I said 3rd of march. anyhow not much going on here, being kicked as normal, DH still away back friday week - can't wait, mainly for the company in the evenings! lol - it's horrid when the dogs don't talk back! lol.

anyhow hope everyone's doing ok. m/w this thurs and consultant next thurs, so will see what the m/w says this week b4 I make any questions for the consultant - what sorts of things does the consultant do??

spiker · 17/01/2006 22:44

rom/lizzylou - I'm also very big. I'm 30 weeks at the moment, no idea what I measure because they don't measure you round here. They take the hands-off approach a bit far for my liking! MW wasn't too worried when I saw her though (at 28 weeks). I have a scan next Thurs for placenta praevia so I guess that will also tell us whether it's a whopper or just a lot of fluid (or too many pies perhaps? hmmm). It feels like a whopper, but then I think they all do from the kick-ee's perspective.

Scared about having a c-section. Not so much the op itself, but the lengthy recovery afterwards, not being able to pick baby up properly or drive, plus I'll have a toddler running about. Mind you, I think I'd rather go through that than ventouse or forceps. hope scan shows baby is normal size.

laundrylover - I've just ordered that book, thanks for the tip. I have an awful feeling DS will react just like Friz's DD though! Most envious of all of you with bump-loving toddlers!

poppyh · 18/01/2006 08:45

Spiker, im a bit scared of the recovery from c section too.Its worse this time actually knowing for sure I will have one!Am planning to get home asap and stay in bed with baby whilst hubby feeds me!
Just hope theres no more building going on then otherwise i will be quite embarrassed!
The woman at the checkout the other day asked if id had the baby.I was so upset. Some people really do speak before thinking.
Take care today all.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 18/01/2006 09:27

Really Poppy H? would have thought the bump would be a bit obvious, doh eh! especially when if you had there would be a newbie in tow right! silly woman!

Really hope you guys have quick recoveries from the c-sections.

totallyinlove · 18/01/2006 09:39

morning all. hope you are all keeping well. Movements from the baby are getting quite painful now. I'm getting to the 'fat and fed up' stage!

I have still got to get a shower curtain for the birth. Other than that I have got everything for the baby. I have washed all the clothes, washed and folded nappies, put the pram together etc.

Me and my husband are disagreeing about feeding the baby at the moment. I want to try and breastfeed. Husband thinks there is no point because I only managed it for 2 weeks last time and ended up putting my son on the bottle because he was just constantly feeding and I ended up very depressed/bleeding/sore/exhausted. I must admit I did wonder about just putting this one straight on the bottle, but the midwives round here belittle you so much if you even consider it. I almost feel pressured into breastfeeding. I would like to think that I am doing the best for my baby by breastfeeding, but I am worried about going through the same as last time. Will just have to wait and see I guess.

I am scared to death of something going wrong and having to have a caesarian this time. I hate hospitals as it is.

Right I must go and tidy up and get the mince ready for dinner. See you all later. x
I laughed at 'hello boobies' rosieposie!!
