Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lalababy · 22/11/2011 17:02

Really... were they all ahead of you? We have 5 couples in my NCT class as well ... although my EDD is first... but never know.

I am really praying that my LO comes soon... I really want to be done and dusted in the next 2-3 weeks!!!

NorthernChinchilla · 22/11/2011 17:05

I would've thought a few more of us would have given birth by now, tbh, but as you say there's no first timers and only a couple on the general December thread.

Maybe it's because we're all so marvellous at doing our pelvic floor exercises we're rock solid down there and nothing's moving! Wink

AwomancalledHorse · 22/11/2011 22:44

36wks on Thursday...starting to drag like it did in the second trimester, I expect I'll feel worse at 42wks!

Congrats kri5ty on your full term-ness! Like Northen said, I'm surprised no-one here (on the 1st timers thread) hasn't given birth yet, esp. as there are people like me on here who hasn't done a pelvic floor exercise for a few weeks... Blush

What's everyone got left 'to do/buy'?
I want to get some breast pads, and all the baby medical/grooming bits (comb, nail clippers, nasal aspirator etc) so we're off to Bluewater tomorrow. Then it's just the nursing bras!

kri5ty · 23/11/2011 05:48

awch I haven't done pelvic floors at all!! Blush I'm going to buy a kelgal8 for after birth though to make sure I do them!

lala I was the second to last due date, but the others were only about a week ahead of me, most of them were about 2 weeks early!

Note to nugget 'im ready now... Pleaseeee come this week! You're Moses basket looks so comfy, much better than my womb!'

Kitty5824 · 23/11/2011 09:21

36 weeks today, and one more day at work tomorrow. Hurrah. Have just noticed that DH has left his mobile at home. Clearly taking the whole "contactable at all times" thing REALLy seriously Grin

kri5ty · 23/11/2011 10:31

typical bloke!! Wink

AwomancalledHorse · 23/11/2011 11:19

Kri5ty, getting some Kegel balls in here too...just really really hope I don't (look away now) tear down there.

Kitty, yay on the one more day of work! Eye roll & tut at your DH, mine changes into uniform at work so doesn't carry his wallet/house keys on him during shift, I've had to nag him to start just incase (because you just know all our babies will come when DP's are really busy at work)!

lalababy · 23/11/2011 11:39

I know the feeling two. My DH never answers his phone... I had a massive fight with him during the w/e said that if he doesn't answer his phone again he is not allowed to attend the birth! A bit melodramatic I know... plus it might be more of a worry for me than him. Hmm I might need to rethink that threat!

I have nothing left to buy other than maternity bras - which I can do sometime during my ML that starts next week! YES!!!

Kri5ty we are all pretty much saying that same prayer now!

I really wish my baby would engage... then I could feel a bit more secure that he would come on time... and move to an anterior position would be great too!

NorthernChinchilla · 23/11/2011 18:37

I've had the 'keep your phone with you and keep sober' chat with DP now. To be fair, he's not a drinker so rarely has more than one anyway, but have reminded him he really should keep his mobile with him at all times.

We've really stocked up on nappies and wipes- each time we go to the supermarket we get some, on the grounds that we'll sure as hell need loads! Got hospital bag stuff together, but need to put it in a suitcase, and it's the same for the nursery- all sorted, just needs assembling.

Only thing I've got to buy now is more pads (as managed to buy two lots of the 'lighter flow' types) and then a changing bag that's not glittery or upwards of £40. Would welcome any suggestions on good bags- specifically changing ones or not- that fit the bill!

Just had first day with maternity cover bloke, and talked myself hoarse. Am enjoying sitting in front of a roaring fire with MN though, and the knowledge that as of next Thursday I'll get a whole 12 days of doing just that Smile...

kri5ty · 23/11/2011 18:44

awch I think I'd rather (look away) tear... but I think it'll be an episiotemy (cant spell), as 1) I have to have an epidural, and 2) he is back to back position :(

NorthernChinchilla · 23/11/2011 19:26

Eeek kri5ty that doesn't sound fun... Really hope it's neither. Have they said what the likelihood is?

AwomancalledHorse · 23/11/2011 23:10

:( Kri5ty, have they said if he is likely to turn during labour?

Northen, sounds like you're planning similar to us! We've been picking up cotton wool/little bits with the weekly shop...you just know in years to come we'll be finding unopened baby wipes in the strangest places!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/11/2011 03:04

This is it, I can't tell if we're being really prepared or if we'll have packets of baby wipes stuffed round the house in every nook and cranny for years!!

We'll be bobbing to Bluewater again this weekend AWCH, am envious that you get to go in the week, far less hellish. Have a horrible feeling we've not got enough clothes/bootees/etc, but again, how do you judge?!

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 08:36

Northern if you don't, don't worry, the shops will still be open when baby arrives :) I am erring on the less is more side at the moment, but to be fair am being given tons of stuff so sure it will be fine. So far only have one bag of cotton wool and one pack of wipes!!

terrible terrible migraine yest and all night, but feeling slightly better now. Best step away from the laptop though. Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
lalababy · 24/11/2011 09:12

Mopsy hope you are feeling better. Maybe it is your body telling you to slow down a bit. A paracetamol and an entire day in bed is what I suggest!

Northern I reckon less is more too! Plus, you just can't judge what the size of the baby will be and how quick they grow. So after a few weeks you can always buy more...plus it might all be on sale then too!!!

Kri5ty If it is any consolation my sister had an episiotomy and she said that it isn't as bad as everyone makes out. You don't feel the stiches coz of the epidural and then it is slightly sore for a few weeks - but much much better than a 3rd/4th degree tears.

LondonGirly · 24/11/2011 09:18

Northern I am impressed you are off to bluewater this weekend, I have decided to stay away now until after the baby is born. 39 weeks tomorrow and I have been having stop start labour for the last two days, which has been a little frustrating.Would recommend the chocolate brownies from the John Lewis cafe on the lower level!

I had a scan on Tuesday - baby weigths 8 pounds 6 at the moment, so am more than ready for him to make an appearence! I have a few newborn bits but mainly 0-3 months, just because he is looking like he is going to be a long baby, he is measuring on 97 percentile for femur length.

I've been cleaning the house and going for walks to try and convince baby to come. The kitchen floor has never been so clean!! Anyone else to being ultra paranoid their waters are going to go?

How many nappies have you all got? Just so I can find something else to be paranoid that I don't have enough of!

lalababy · 24/11/2011 11:40

LondonGirly I'd estimate about 12 nappies a day! At the moment I only have about 3 packets. But given I live opposite a sainsbury I am not too worried... how hard could it be to pick up some more!

I am with Moposy... shops are still open after the baby arrives so maybe buy the balance then instead!

If the baby is that big - does that mean you need newborn nappies or a size bigger?

LondonGirly · 24/11/2011 11:52

Good point lala on the nappies, might need to check the size!

AwomancalledHorse · 24/11/2011 13:43

Bluewater was alot busier than it normally is on a weekday evening; Boots, Mothercare & Superdrug between them had NOTHING I went up there to get..grrrrh!
They've got late opening atm Northen, you could always nag DP to take you there to see a film/have dinner?

Mopsy, hope you're feeling 100% soon.

London, that sounds very very frustrating...hope LO makes up its mind to appear soon!
Regarding waters breaking (tmi alert), I didn't realise how much extra vaginal discharge you get during pregnancy...have had to change pants 2/3 times a day, so hoping I 'gush' when my waters break instead of trickle!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/11/2011 20:15

I think an evening trip to BW would be best, which would include dinner out Smile though from what you say AWCH there's no guarantee that it'll be either quiet or successful.

I think you're right on the less is more, and it's generally an approach I take. We're just off to do a stock take now of both clothes and nappies, etc. I will reiterate to DP that we can get more once he arrives. I think the fears are that we've got loads of some things and precisely sod all of others- mainly because we've been given things, and other bits have been knitted for us, etc- and we've just been stocking it up without knowing what's there....

Plus, this time last year we got snowed in for nearly a week so worried we could actually run out of stuff!

lala- nappies are confusing things- we spent aaaaaaages trying to work out what we needed, and then went for newborn as the weight bit on the front said 4-11lbs which seems right Confused.

And londongirly, you've got to have your baby- we need someone to start the ball rolling (with the honourable exception of fairybayleaf) so keep up those walks!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/11/2011 20:17

Oh, and meant to say, mopsy, hope you are feeling better.

AWCH- know exactly what you mean re discharge, will NOT be sorry to see the end of that...

AwomancalledHorse · 24/11/2011 21:31

Northen. same as you...we got snowed in for about 3 days, so we stock up on certain things just incase!
Bought a baby magazine earlier today and got yet another (mini) pack of baby wipes free with it!! Even when I don't buy them, we get some.

We're planning on using reuseable nappies, past the newborn stage, so luckily we'll not have to deal with the odd sizing (aside from when we go swimming!), thankfully!

mopsytop · 25/11/2011 08:38

hello! feeling a good bit better, thanks, headache has become just a mild one, thank GOODNESS, it was really bad.

I have decided to follow your leads and have booked a pedicure for 9am, yay! Relaxation here I come.

OP posts:
mopsytop · 25/11/2011 11:15

Pedicure was lovely! Really relaxing and my feet look much better now :)

Now, this thread is probs going to be full by the time I get back from my w/e away so what shall we call the next one so I can find you guys on Monday?

OP posts:
figgygal · 25/11/2011 16:54

cant believe i am 38 weeks today, well maybe i can went to sort out more xmas shopping and after an hour or so my legs and back hurt and felt a bit winded was glad to get home and sit down. Happily i got some bits for LO to wrap under the tree, SIL, Niece and Mum all done just my Dad and brother to do and DH. Managed to sell some mat clothes and a party dress i bought last christmas and have never worn on ebay today made £60 so now looking at more of my maternity work clothes to see if i can sell some more.

So a productive first day of maternity leave am sure will still be bored out of my tree by the middle of next week. Trying hard not to distract DH from his work which shall prove difficult Have discovered thought that virgin media now have sky anytime for the movie choices at no extra cost so will have to trawl through all that and see if there is anything not seen available, if not there is always the A Team again mmm Bradley Cooper

Hope you all have nice weekends planned!!
